WIP Wednesday

Since i did a similar tag response to this recently, here's a bit from my second to last worked on WIP - however, i did backtrack some as the ACTUAL last section was rife with smut. then the next couple sections had a lot of OC content, sooo i skipped past that as well ^^;

Standing just within the woods, half shielded by a thick oak, was a pale boy. Even in the dark Armitage could make out the black waves of hair, the charcoal clothes, the high grey collar of a thin undershirt beneath the oddly designed tunic, the subtle glint of surely expensive calf-high leather boots. He could see the spellbinding honey brown of dark-lashed doe eyes. Ben. "Ben," the name fell off his lips like a prayer. The boy stepped back into the trees, and like a tether to his soul Armitage followed. He was at the wooded border faster than he could blink. His momentum rushed him headlong into the dark expanse without any care for where or why. Moonlight slipping through cracks in the canopy of leaves gave the other boy a dim glow whenever it touched him; a beacon to follow. Every moment Armitage caught the flash of ink-speckled skin, his feet sped and his wild heart raced.

This is from a huxloween WIP i've been sporadically working on since 2020, hoping to finish it each huxloween - yet never doing so - ever since... why am i like this (-___-)

please check it out. I remember livejournal from back in the day and believe me it’s pretty effective. We can collectively post art, fanfiction, role play, and discussion in one place and frankly i don’t see antis being a problem because they have to go out of their way to do it. Livejournal  doesn’t have the search issue that tumblr has. Only content posted to the community will show up there is no search for anti content soooo… please come on over and just….start posting.

okay, I’ve only just realised it’s fanfic writer appreciation day and I wanted to shout out to (who I feel) are my three main ‘muses’ and inspirations in the fandom

@kyloream - you’re such a good friend; you’ve made me full on cry with feels and laughter and brainstorming through messages with you is one of the highlights of my day

@solohux - your fics are all beautiful sculptures draped in gold and I want Screaming Colour tattooed on my own s k i n, please never stop what you’re doing

Hux is a city fox, hard to coop up, but sometimes he does feel cooped up and the urge to wander is far too great. He always promises to return by sunup and he always does, until he doesn't. It has become so routine, so assured that Hux will just be back like he says he'll be, that Ren doesn't even stay up waiting, and it's well past breakfast time before Ren realizes Hux hasn't returned. No muddy pawprints, no evidence at all. 

A fox carries no phone, no money, no means of getting in touch. No weapon. And so Ren waits with his stomach in knots until lunch, and he finally goes out looking.

He walks for thirty minutes before he finds his fox, trembling under a bench by a bus stop near the college campus. There's a Starbucks nearby, and Hux has kept himself fed overnight on thrown-away crusts of breakfast sandwiches and pumpkin muffins. There's dried blood on his snout. When Ren crouches down to take a look, the fox darts into his arms, and lets himself be carefully stowed in the carrier Ren has brought with him. Not suspicious or anything. Ren supposes people see stranger things in a city like this. 

Back home, Hux releases the fox form, and Ren examines him, a naked man with a bloody nose.

"What happened?" Ren asks.

Dogs. Cars. Any number of dangers in the city. Would Ren lock him up, keep him from wandering? Dogs and cars hurt people, too. There's no guarantee of safety either way. 

"I'd keep you safe," Ren says.

It is what Hux wants to hear, and he closes his eyes, inviting Ren to repeat himself. "Keep you safe," Re promises, cleaning the bloody nose with a wet rag. "Safe, always, keep you safe." Hux's eyes open just a slit, watching Ren care for him, looking for the strange expression on Ren's face, halfway between adoration and terror, the appearance of a man in love.
