i made it through my first semester of my phd and i’m very happy with my grades! now in the month before my next semester starts, i am moving to my new apartment and doing some research work. i’m also enjoying my free time with a lot of knitting, reading, and bread baking (so basically i’ve become an old lady).

I’m a simple person, I really like the southern part of my home country honduras, although canada has been a wonderful place❤️

Well I can stay more focused if I take small breaks in between each assignment

Talking to people and having a established schedule

Don’t be afraid to talk with someone about your struggles

Thu - What is the best advice you’ve ever been given (e.g. from a teacher of friend)?

At the end of the day, you can’t force passion. Find something you love, and then do it

Fri - What is your biggest tip for organizing your study space/study materials?

Take a picture, and once you’re done for the day make sure it looks like that

Sat - What is your best tip on how to relax?

Don’t be so self-conscious on how to relax, maybe you relax by watching youtube videos or netflix shows or maybe by talking to others or maybe by reading. Just make sure to enjoy your free time!

just survived my first day of classes! so i’ve now officially started my phd! the seven hours in zoom class today were exhausting so i will be making a cocktail and ordering a pizza to relax this evening.

grad school has just been problem set after problem set. it’s not bad though.

i’ve had time to do some fun outdoor activities during the weekends. which i’m happy to make the most of the last of the nice weather before it gets too cold. the flower picture is from a recent trip with my friends to a garden.

all i can say about grad school is really just i’m surviving. my tea consumption is back up to an uncountable number of cups a day. i started my first research rotation and it’s going well. i’m also happy because i’ve just started to get more involved with some outreach/volunteering which i really enjoy doing.
