Zone 3: Marble Garden ~Summit Storm~

Marble Garden Zone is the 3rd level of Sonic 3. You're based quite high up on the green, rolling hills, where you can see for miles across the thick forest landscape, in which the ruins of an ancient collection of buildings now decay and are being reclaimed by nature. However that was then, and this is what it is now...

Blaze and Cream find themselves finally escaping the sewers. THANK GOD! Traversing the hill tops and zeniths of the new area, with many tracks and sloping hills throughout the land. Roaming and searching for hours on end, Blaze finally locates the last Sol emerald. Now that all of them have been reclaimed, she and the little rabbit decide to relocate. But unfortunately for the duo, a rainstorm picked up engulfing the tranquil ruins, leaving thunder and lighting gasping in its wake. Darkness consumed the majority of the ruins and the winds picked up in no time. Better hurry up and make it to the next area. You have all 7 Sol emeralds. transform already!!!

Did you know? In Sonic & Knuckles/Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic Team went to  a concerted effort to show that Knuckles’ story took place chronologically after Sonic’s.

This is actually evidenced by the lack of the Death Egg in the backgrounds of Knuckles’ stages - It had already established liftoff and was destroyed in Sonic’s story, hence it’s abscence.

Angel Island is also depicted as being in the air in Knuckles’ story. It is in the sea in Sonic’s as evidenced by Angel Island zone’s background differences between Sonic’s and Knuckles’ versions of the stage.
