Hi!

Hi Tumblr! I’m Kayak321, but most people on the internet just call me Kayak. (i don’t talk like this normally it’s just bc i’m making a pinned) I’m a fan of Sonic, Mario, Pokemon, Fallout, the Elder Scrolls, Toby Fox’s work, all the shows in the Disney Channel Animated Universe (but especially The Owl House), FNF (but trying to distance myself from the community), the Henry Stickmin series, SAO, DDLC, Cuphead and the exe/Sonic.exe community.

I’m black, cis (sorry), romeric, and a minor.

I’m not new to tumblr, but I’ve never actually posted until today. A lot of my twitter mutuals are either moving here or dusting off their old accounts bc of the recent purchase. I want mutuals here too so I’m making this post.

We need to stop treating it as a contest.

I can understand being jealous. Really, I can! There are a few other Amy accounts out there that are probably better than mine, but instead of sitting and talking about what flaws they might have I follow them. I respect them. Why should I bad talk anybody who loves that character as much as I do? The more Amy fans the merrier! Really, anybody who appreciates my favorite character as much as me can't be half bad. Who cares if they draw better than me? I'm sure they feel I'm better than them at something too. Everybody's insecure.

Since I've left the group, I feel like it's only gotten worse. I might've raised paranoia. I know people have been saying some shoddy things about me (I'm sure the word "bitch" has been thrown around a lot!), but I just want to let everyone know that I'm sorry I've helped create this unease and strain. I never meant to really offend anybody when I left the group. I was merely sick and tired of being stepped on and found that instead of sticking around and being miserable, I would leave the group. Maybe I could've worded myself better, but what's happened has happened, and I'm sorry if I hurt any feelings when I did that.

But I'm not the only one at fault here, and pointing fingers isn't going to fix anything. As a whole, Sonic Tumblr needs to collectively throw in the towel and stop acting like a high school. Talking bad about somebody else isn't going to make you look any better.

I'm willing to make amends, but only once we all stop talking shit about each other. I don't want to be friends with anyone who treats roleplaying like a contest.

Nobody is Sonic the Hedgehog solely. Sonic is a fictional character, created by Sega, as are the rest of his friends. Getting offended by other accounts is foolish. You are not the character you roleplay, period. 

You may appreciate the character. You may share similarities with the character. You may LOVE that character and think that their shit doesn't stink, but never convince yourself that you're that character, because then seeing other versions of "yourself" will only hurt you in the end. There needs to be a line between reality and fiction, please!

This is not targeting anyone. I think there's a bunch of us to blame, and I really believe it's my fault that everything's gotten so bad. 

Really, what're we even hating each other for? We all like one core thing mutually -- the media! Can't we at least agree on that? Yes, we all have different opinions on ships, characters or even ages, but that doesn't mean we should bring down our fellow fans.

I'm willing to start anew if anybody else is. I don't think this group of lovely fans is beyond saving.
