Jul 20, 2023   A lot has been happening at Salman Khan’s end over the last few months as the actor is on the verge of locking his future projects. There has been a lot of chatter on social media about what is next for him after the Diwali 2023 release, Tiger 3. While his immediate next is not locked on paper yet, Pinkvilla has exclusively learnt that the reunion with Sooraj Barjatya will happen in 2024. “Salman Khanand Sooraj Barjatya are definitely doing a film together. but it will kick off next year. Sooraj will invest all his energies on the script once his son, Avnish’s debut, Dono, hits the big screen,” revealed a source close to the development.

Vishnu Vardhan is the front-runner for Salman Khan's next

According to the source, Salman had kept his window from October to March vacant for multiple filmmakers. “Salman had asked several filmmakers to come to him with a bound script. His list of directors had Sooraj Barjatya working on Prem Ki Shaadi, Sajid Nadiadwala on Kick 2, and Karan Johar with Vishnu Vardhan’s next.

 While Sooraj has already conveyed the delay in proceeding to the second half of 2024, Sajid’s film is far off from getting on floors anytime in the coming two years,” the source close to the actor added.Karan Johar and Vishnu Vardhan’s next is in the front runner to be Salman’s next after Tiger 3, though it’s yet not on paper. “Salman, Karan, and Vishnu have been meeting every week, and things are moving in the right direction. Hopefully, the project will be locked by early August and get into production by November this year,” the source added. Sooraj Barjatya’s next is titled Prem Ki Shaadi and the filmmaker is aiming to take it on floors by the end of 2024.

“It’s an ambitious family drama that presents the mature side of Salman Khan. While the core plot is already locked, Sooraj Barjatya will get into the development of the screenplay in October once Dono hits the big screen. He will take around 4 to 5 months to complete the screenplay and then another 4 months of pre-productions. He is planning to shoot the film with Salman over a period of 100 to 120 days. It will take off once Salman Khan wraps up shooting for Tiger vs Pathaan with Shah Rukh Khan. The Siddharth Anand directorial takes off by March/April 2024 and will be shot till the end of the year,” the source concluded.Before the Sooraj Barjatya film, Salman will finish two films, one of which will be Tiger vs Pathaan and the other is expected to be director Vishnu Vardhan’s next. According to a report in Mid-Day, “The Tiger 3 star will shoot with Paaji later this week. Salman reportedly has a cameo in Sunny’s next, Safar, for which the two actors are expected to film their scenes together this Friday and Saturday at Mehboob Studios in Bandra. Salman will be playing himself in the Vishal Rana production venture.”

Produced by Echelon Productions, Safar is reportedly set for 2024 release. Meanwhile, Sunny Deol has Aamir Khan Productions’ next project Lahore 1947 which will be helmed by Rajkumar Santoshi.

On the other hand, Salman Khan has Dharma Productions’ next The Bull with Shershaah director Vishnu Vardhan. He also has a project in the works with Sooraj Barjatya. The actor will also star in Tiger vs Pathaan with Shah Rukh Khan.

DONO is the story of two strangers falling in love. Dev Saraf (Rajveer Deol) is based in Bengaluru and runs a start-up named Primary Workflow Solutions. The business is not going great. On top of it, Alina (Kanikka Kapur), his best friend since childhood and whom he loves dearly, is getting married. Dev declines to be a part of the festivities. But he changes his mind as he feels that attending her marriage can help him find closure. He flies to Hua Hin, Thailand where the marriage is taking place. There, he bumps into Meghna Doshi (Paloma), a close friend of the groom, Nikhil (Rohan Khurana). Another close friend of Nikhil, Gaurav (Aditya Nanda), is also present. He happens to be the ex-boyfriend of Meghna. Both broke up just a month ago. Dev and Meghna are poles apart. While he’s unable to come to terms that the love of his life is getting married, Meghna seems to have moved on rather well. Yet, both get attracted to each other. What happens next forms the rest of the film.

Avnish S Barjatya's story is nothing special. There’s hardly any storyline. Avnish S Barjatya and Manu Sharma's screenplay is engaging and is peppered with sweet and simple moments. However, the writing gets stretched after a point. Avnish S Barjatya and Manu Sharma's dialogues are devoid of any over-the-top one-liners and are very situational.Avnish S Barjatya's direction is uncomplicated. He understands the technicalities like a pro, despite being a debutant director. Also, just like the style of his father Sooraj Barjatya, his content is devoid of any intimacy or violence. It’s a complete, clean family entertainer. The situations in the film are very relatable be it domination by a partner, the quest to find closure, unrequited love, hypocrisy of the society involving womenfolk etc. Also, the troubles and fun associated with a destination wedding, especially when it’s abroad, make for a great watch. Some characters and comical scenes like the cricket match, Dev-Meghna's meeting at the pani puri stall, etc, add to the humour.On the flipside, at 156 minutes, the film is too lengthy. After a point, it becomes tedious to sit through the film. Secondly, the track of Dev and his parents is very unconvincing. It is strange that Dev is meeting his parents after three years at the Thailand wedding. Yet, he’s not shown spending time with them. Some factual errors distract viewers. For instance, Dev coolly says that he has a flight in 2 hours. Yet, he’s seated in his hotel which is more than an hour's drive from the nearest airport!Both Rajveer Deol and Paloma look great on screen and have a fine presence. However, they need to fine-tune their craft. Kanikka Kapur is decent. Aditya Nanda plays his character with panache. Manik Papneja (Gopal aka Gappu) is superb and raises a lot of laughs. Poojan Chhabra (Vilas) also adds to the fun. Rohan Khurana gets no scope. Sanjay Nath (Jagmohan; the groom’s father) is excellent as the man who never smiles. Micky Makhija (Dilip Saraf)’s performance suffers due to the writing. Mohit Chauhan (Ashok Jaisingh) leaves a mark in the beginning but later on, he doesn’t have much to do. Tisca Chopra (Anjali Malhotra) hams. Varun Buddhadev (young Dev) and Muskan Kalyani (young Alina) are lovely.Dono: Official Trailer | Rajveer Deol, Paloma Thakeria, Avnish S. BarjatyaShankar-Ehsaan-Loy's music doesn’t have a shelf life. The title song is the most memorable one. 'Khamma Ghani' is based on an interesting idea. This is followed by 'Mann Mauji', Khatt Mitthiyaan', 'Agg Lagdi', 'Lehenga Padd Gaya Mehenga' and 'Raangla'. George Joseph's background score has a cinematic, commercial feel.Chirantan Das' cinematography is appropriate. The locales of Thailand are well-shot. Sujeet Sawant and Sriram Iyengar's production design is top-class. Terrence Lobo's costumes are very glamorous, especially the ones worn by the leading actors. Shweta Venkat Mathew's editing is weak. The film could have been shorter by at least 15 minutes.On the whole, DONO is a clean family entertainer and works due to its simplicity, relatable goings-on and some funny and emotional moments. Bhupen expresses this wish to the other three and dies the next morning. After Bhupen's death, those three friends decided to fulfil Bhupen's last wish and complete the climb to Everest Base Camp. What’s he doing next? That has been the question on the minds of Salman Khan’s fans, and many filmmakers who had pitched their projects to him. The superstar, however, was taking it slow, reassessing his choice of movies after the underwhelming run of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Reports suggested that he wasn’t gung-ho about the offers coming his way, barring Karan Johar’s production and Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem Ki Shaadi (Being choosy, June 21). But now, the actor has made up his mind. We hear Khan and his filmmaker-friend Barjatya will take the family drama on floors next month.  The superstar had loved the concept when it was narrated to him in 2020. While the two were writing it during the lockdown, they sped up the process in the past few months. A trade source reveals, “Romantic dramas, set in a family, are a success at the box-office today, as seen with Zara Hatke Zara Bachke and Satyaprem Ki Katha. Salman is fond of such stories, which is why he had immediately given his nod to Prem Ki Shaadi. However, finalising the screenplay took time. The team began pre-production last month, setting the stage for an August shoot.”

Prem Ki Shaadi, which marks the duo’s fifth collaboration, revolves around a nuclear family. The leading lady will be finalised in the coming weeks. “It tells the journey of a couple, starting from their marriage, to raising their children and going strong till their old age. The first schedule will kick off on a set in Mumbai.” The team is eyeing a Diwali 2024 release.

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, who has been active in the film industry for over five decades, and was most recently seen in Brahmastra: Part One, has added a new property to his real estate portfolio.

The 79-year-old, one of the highest-paid actors in Bollywood, has purchased a sprawling new apartment on the 31st floor of the Parthenon Building in Mumbai’s Four Bungalows area, per Mint. The report also adds that Big B has bought the 12,000 sq ft apartment for investment purposes, and will not be moving in there. Check out all the details about his recent purchase here.

As per the official website of Raiaskaran, the developers of the Parthenon building, each apartment in the standalone tower has four bedrooms and an independent puja/study room. The large balcony, which spans the entire length of the apartment, offers soothing views of the Arabian Sea.

Among several amenities that can be enjoyed at the Parthenon building is a concierge desk, gym, swimming pool, garden area, banquet hall, yoga room, karaoke room, mini theatre, barbeque pit and spa.

The amount of money for which senior Bachchan bought the property is not known. But as per Magicbricks, a 4BHK apartment having a carpet area of 3,200 square feet would cost around Rs 16 crore in the 31-floor building.

The Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) host has quite a few properties in Mumbai. His current residence Jalsa, which is spread over 10,000 sq ft, is worth between Rs 100 and 120 crores, per India TV. In close proximity to Jalsa is Bachchan’s office Janak, which is worth Rs 50 crore, per Hindustan Times.

The ancestral home of the Bachchans, Pratiksha, which they bought in 1976, and another home, Vatsa, which has been leased out to Citibank India, are also among the properties owned by the actor.

Most recently, in 2021, the Piku actor bought a 5704 sq ft duplex apartment in Andheri for Rs 31 crore. As per India.com, the apartment has been rented out to Kriti Sanon for a monthly rent of Rs 10 lakh.

Apart from the homes in India, Mr Bachchan also owns a luxurious property in Paris worth Rs 3 crore, per Financial Express. Reportedly, Jaya Bachchan had gifted the pad to her husband.

On the work front, the Sholay actor is currently busy with the shoot of the on-going KBC 14. Talking about films, the actors will next be seen in Uunchai along with Anupam Kher and Boman Irani. Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, the film will hit the theatres on November 11.
