So, I heard about the existence of this line according to an Akeshu comic but I didn't see it in any videos documenting Akechi's Navigation Quotes but then I found THIS video. It is real!

Unfortunately it looks like the line was translated but never voiced. There's one for Yoshizawa turning into a mouse too but that dialogue didn't even get the courtesy of being translated to English so I have no idea what he says for her.

I’ve been meaning to send this request for a while now, but I let my desire for a seemingly nonexistent “perfect” moment get in the way. 😛

Anyway, your take on the Autobots’ names and their meanings is still one of my favorite posts of yours. I’ve come up with one or two meanings of my own for a couple of the characters, but I’m curious about what you think the meanings of the Decepticons’ names would/should be. :)

I've been meaning to get to this forever. Sorry this took me an eternity and a half to get around to writing for! Hope you like it!

Decepticons and their Names

Just like the Autobots, the Decepticons developed alternate names to keep their true names secret while still hinting at it. They didn't bother trying to appear more human or adjust their body language in any meaningful way. They simply never saw the need to comply with human naming conventions. However this does not mean that their true names aren't known to anyone.

Soundwave knows just about every bot's true name. It was part of procedure when it came to joining high command. A Decepticon couldn't rise through the ranks if they weren't willing to give Soundwave their true designation for security reasons. And while not the most well received of moves, it did end up keeping quite a few revolts from happening with the perpetrators true name on the line.

Soundwave however is not a mech who would abuse what power he has been given. As such, while he knows the names, he does not use them against the bot whom the designation belongs to unless absolutely necessary. Still there are times when he needs to reconfirm designations and he takes great care of them.

Megatron's true designation is long, a testament to his age and a show of his wisdom. His name has changed greatly over the millennia, but core features of it always remain even through every alteration. His name when translated into human language is roughly akin to [Resilient-Spark-Defiant-Fighter-Silver-Tongued-Truth-Speaker-Seeker-of-Change-Sword-of-Vengance]. It is as shortened a version of his designation that can be managed. If his whole name was written out, it would rival Optimus's in length. When spoken aloud his name sounds like a long forgotten chant, one whispering of times long gone all while the grinding of gears echoed quietly amidst it.

Shockwave's designation is an odd one that contradicts itself over and over again due to the changes he underwent on the Council's orders. Its almost painful to look at when written simply because of how unpleasant it is in its contradictions. His true designation is so unsettling to look at that Soundwave has put it away and refuses to even so much as glance at it until it comes time to check his files. The name comes out to be something along the lines of [Kind-Spark-Empty-Vessel-Hopeful-Light-Bringer-Endless-Void-of-Knowledge]. When spoke aloud it is both lovely to hear and painful for the audio receptors. It sounds like the humming of a spark within its chassis combined with the gentle whistle of wind, but is contradicted by the dull and toneless notes of steady clicking and grinding that nearly cancel the musical qualities out entirely.

Starscream's is surprisingly lovely and holds greater meaning than one would expect. Starscream was after all, not always a traitorous glitch fond of cowardly retreats and greed. Once, long ago Starscream was a noble leader for his people, doing everything in his power to protect them only to at some point lose himself along the way. His name comes out to be [Guardian-Star-Guiding-Beacon-Swift-Lord-of-the-Skies-Radiant-Jewel]. Starscream has always taken great pride in his true designation and has never once uttered it aloud, not for anyone. Even when giving his designation to Soundwave, he merely wrote it down and did not speak at all. However based on what can be gathered, if it was to be spoken aloud it would sound a great deal like the swaying of trees, the chiming of bells, and the constant thrum of a jet engine preparing for takeoff.

Knockout's designation is odd considering his personality, but Soundwave has always assumed that it is simply a matter of the medic having changed over his lifetime. However even with that in mind, there are still bits and pieces that apply to the persona Knockout presents. His designation translates into something similar to [True-Sighted-Spinner-of-Dreams-Faceted-Child-of-Visonaries-Bright-Sparked-Healer]. Perhaps his name spoke of an age where things were different for Knockout, a time where he was more hopeful, open, and friendly. But either way, when spoken aloud his name sounds like the distant trickling of raindrops on a tin sheet, the swaying of tall grass amid a storm, and the crackling of distant thunder all soothed by the gentle patter of stones down a hill.

Breakdown's name was by comparison far clearer and easier to see where it came from. His was straightforward, a perfect representation of his character and spoke of his true pureness of spark. His designation almost made Soundwave wonder just what the warrior was doing amid the Decepticon ranks. His name spoke of someone more suited toward the Autobot's ideals of purity, that with his name translating to mean [Warrior-for-Justice-Protector-of-the-Meek-Gentle-Giant-Comforter-Guardian-of-the-Vulnerable]. Even the sound of his name sounds like it should belong to an Autobot, that with it being like that of the quiet humming of a loving parent combined with the war chant of an army preparing to fight for their homeland.

Dreadwing's designation is one that Soundwave has no real opinion on but finds somewhat fascinating due to how it speaks of his character. It is fairly straightforward much like Breadown's, but like all true designations, it is special in its own unique way, even when translated to [Stoic-Watcher-of-Shifting-Tides-Bound-Protector-of-Spark-Shards-Enduring-Warrior]. Its spoken notes are much like the beating of hammers on an anvil accompanied why the bellows of a beast in the deep. However there is a soft undertone of wind rushing past rock, creating a gentle whistling sound. Overall a fascinating mix of sounds and meanings, but not too noteworthy in Soundwave's book.

Then there is Soundwave's name, the one he has not shared with anyone, not even Megatron. His true designation is something he has kept to himself simply because... he hardly remembers it. A true designation should be something a bot always remembers, but with what Soundwave was forged to do, only bits and pieces have stuck over the millennia. It is something that pains him. He wishes he could remember it all, but as he can't he has filled in his name as best as he can using what he does recall, earning him the translated name [Silent-Keeper-of-Knowledge-Custodian-of-the-Dark-in-All-Tireless-Watcher-of-Eternity]. He has not said it aloud, but he guesses that if it was, it would sound a great deal like the near silent murmurings of mecha long dead and the gentle swaying of all sorts of structures. His name would hardly even be capable of being heard if not for the quiet din of a stone falling into water that would echo quietly should his name be said out loud.

So many names, so many meanings, and Soundwave keep them all dutifully.

Her: I didn't comment anything, and the press misrepresents everything and for that I won't even clarify or say anything because everything is mistrepresented. Okay, let's see, I did say that I, Vanessa, just found out there were more voices that denounced the buddy (it's hard to translate) because of the complaint malena made. Why? Because they were only speaking about malena's complaint and it wasn't only malena. In social media, online, there are other voices that are denouncing and I didn't hear about it. And the day before I had the interview I listened to the story of a girl, about something that happened 5 or 6 years that was super super heavy. So I don't get the eagerness, with al due respect, the press to misrpresent, to tie up knives, to... be morbid with such delicate stuff, for both parts. It's sad what is happening here. It's sad that a man with that trajectory, so talented and loved, because I have great appreciation for him is involved in this for behaviors that beyond him, we have to un-naturalize from our society, no matter who they come from. We have the moral and human responsability as media and as society to embrace the victims and sadly, for that crime called stealthing there's no jurisdiction in Mexico for that crima in particular. Did anyone notice the change in her tone? In the last interview she was almost disgusted talking about him. Now she calls him "compañero" as in buddy and says that both parts should be treated with respect. She also mentions his career and how loved he is. I really hope she's trying to back up because his team sent her a warning or because she has learned MER will have to go to court for everything she's saying.

She goes off about stealthing but obviously doesn't even know what she's talking about.

Honestly I'm trying to be polite here but I'm pissed off. You can tell how self absorbed she is throughout the video. Just watching the beginning is enough. This woman doesn't love acting, she loves cameras. This woman isn't a feminist, she just uses the fight as a prop.

Purge March: Initial Thoughts

Hello everybody! Sorry this took so long to get out, I got more distracted by real-life stuff than I expected since the drop. I made the decision back on the night of the Amane drop to wait for the audio drama and give myself time to think, and I'm glad I did, because in my opinion, Amane's case is really complicated.

I used the audio drama translation done by @/muu_kusunoki on twitter, which I'll link here, I'll also be doing a lot of referencing both the Purge March (PM) MV and the Magic MV. This is still going in as my Initial Thoughts rather than a synthesis theory, but it'll definitely be closer to synthesis than normal.

As usual, I'll be making bolded claims and then discussing them. Let's get started!

TW: Many kinds of abuse, indoctrination, murder, animal death suicide

The person Amane healed WAS actually a cat.

Truly insane. I'd assumed the whole time that the orange cat was symbolic for a human, but it's actually genuinely just a cat. That sort of throws out the whole theory from Magic that Riyone didn't have a role listed because their role related to the falling stage light, meaning that the injury on the cat was staged.

...Wait.

I think it still makes sense that the cat's injury was staged. Rather than being staged because the cat did something inherently wrong, though, I think it's more likely that the cat was staged to test Amane's belief of cult doctrine. She knows she's not supposed to heal using medicine, but here's an injured cat, just waiting for you. Amane takes the bait and heals the cat (the good thing to do), and as a result, she gets punished. Tased, it seems.

Riyone is the one responsible for electric torture. Because of that, I'm going to make the claim that Riyone was the one with the taser in the MV.

I've seen a couple different posts floating around say that they believe this is Amane's mother. The most convincing piece of evidence I've seen is from this alleged picture of the storyboards, but I have no idea how this was procured or if it's legit.

I think Riyone being Amane's mother makes a lot of sense, though. I mentioned earlier how Riyone doesn't have a listed role at intro like everyone else; that's probably because, to Amane, the role is just "mom." We know Amane's dad is frequently gone, so this probably isn't him. Additionally, it seems like Amane may live in this house we see in the MV, and as soon as she gets home, this other person is there. It would make the most sense if this person was her mother.

So, based on that, Amane's mother (Riyone) would have placed an injured cat right outside of their house to see what Amane would do. Amane heals the cat, and that results in Amane being punished for it. Punished, in this case, for interfering with divine will by using medicine to counteract fate.

Being the flag associated with destiny, it makes sense if Riyone is the one upholding the torture related to the cat. The cat seems to be dead and gone later, too, so it's likely that Riyone "fixed" destiny by killing it. But, in that case, who's that other guy?

Gozake is responsible for the water torture.

Safe enough claim. It's right there.

Anyways, the important thing is that means the hand you can see here is Gozake's.

This seems like it's in the same house as before, which I've theorized as Amane's house. If I'm right, that means that either Gozake is her dad, Gozake has access to her house despite not living there (the most plausible imo), or that all the cult leaders actually live here and it's more of a shared housing situation. In any case, what's important is that Gozake was in Amane's living space and tortured her there.

For what, though?

If I'm right that Riyone was the one handling torture related to the cat, that means Gozake was focused on something else. Let's check out those flags.

"Discard vulgarity" just kinda sounds like not swearing at first glance. However, vulgarity is defined as a more general lack of sophistication. I take this one to mean something like, "Behave in a way that is befitting of the cult."

Gozake seems to be in control of the cult's image and what they say to the public or something like that. So, to me, I think this means that Gozake punished Amane for outwardly doing something that the cult didn't approve of. Could also be the cat, could be something else. From Gachata flicking Amane at the beginning, it seems like the torture wasn't limited to "big mistakes" in the cult's eyes. Anything she did wrong could result in intense punishment.

Gozake is the one she killed.

If it's one, anyways. I'm still not fully convinced that she only killed one cult leader, but that's doesn't matter at the moment. Right now, my job is to convince you that Gozake is extremely dead.

The biggest point against him is the fact that Amane's prisoner card in UNDERCOVER shows that her murder took place in the shower.

It's kind of hard to see, but that's a bathroom. Based on the other prisoners' cards, it seems like the location on the cards is the location that their murder/related death incident occurred. Because Gozake was the one who tortured Amane in the shower specifically, that's a pretty bad look for him.

There's also plenty of reason to believe that at least one of the cult leaders is the one who died. All of Amane's lyrics about how she was sorry, but now the roles are reversed, makes total sense if a previous abuser of hers was begging for her mercy against being killed. Plus, there's the scene towards the end of Purge March where she's twirling her baton. It goes from clean to bloody at around 2:17.

Notably, this shot is taken from between times it shows the four cult leaders up on the cloud. We never see them again after this. (That's part of why I believe all four could possibly be dead, but I honestly don't consider it very relevant.)

We already know that Amane's murder weapon is a pole of some kind based on her kill shot of Es in UNDERCOVER.

She also uses her magic wand in Magic similarly. The point is, we know that Amane killed someone via whacking them with a pole. That's what we see in the end shot of Purge March.

That person? That's Amane's victim. Or, one of them, anyways.

Amane may have had multiple victims.

Again, I don't know how much it really matters, but it's definitely possible. That person looks like they're killed in the bedroom or something, right? And there's the light on in the bathroom.

I've seen some people say that they just think the person (Gozake) crawled from the bathroom to the bedroom before Amane finished them off. However... why?

What situation would that help in? I'm under the impression that the door out of the house is the other way, so if the victim crawled to escape, they'd likely head the other way. Additionally, Amane is still a twelve year old girl. If there were a prolonged fight, it seems like it would favor the grown ass man. So, this would have to mean that Amane would partially damage him before he crawled, out of the bathroom but AWAY from the front door. That doesn't make sense to me.

There's also the question of what Amane's murder weapon is. Let's look at that shower scene again.

A clothes washer (I think), a sink, some sort of pole thing (is that part of the clothes washer? Or is it more of a vacuum or something?), and some conspicuous bleach.

A big question for me is what that pole thing is. Could that be Amane's murder weapon? Is it detachable enough to bring to the bedroom? That's really relevant.

Basically, I think there's two options based on this.

The pole is detachable. Amane hits the guy's face with bleach and he tries to crawl away, but can't see where he's going. She then carries the pole over to the bedroom and finishes him off there.

Amane uses the bleach to kill him in the bathroom, leaving him there with the light on. Then, Amane uses either that pole or a different one and heads to the bedroom, killing whoever else is there (probably Riyone, if I had to guess).

I'm honestly kind of partial to 1 now that I've written it out. However, there is also this:

This is Amane's associated image from UNDERCOVER. We don't know what it relates to, exactly; we just know that it's something to do with her.

I would... assume that this is someone in the shower, based on the water torture. However, when I first saw it (and I know this is true for others, too), I thought it was rain. The way the water drops fall looks more like rain to me. And, based on what we saw, Amane was kneeling on the shower floor. That means that it should be Gozake in the shower, thus invalidating the theory that Gozake crawled out of the shower before getting finished off in the bedroom.

Except, what if it is rain?

If it is rain, that makes this matter a hell of a lot more. Because, if that isn't in the shower, that means that someone ended up on the ground like that outside of that house. Possibly someone who never entered the house, possibly someone who never entered the cult. Who knows!

...Possibly the little girl with the balloon?

Obviously if that's the case, it's someone related to the cult. Still, the sky is clearly the same sky, at least. There's the same rainbow despite the same clouds. Plus, we see the little girl's balloon wander off later in the MV. Maybe something happened to her?

I don't know what her involvement is otherwise. I don't know why she's important enough to be depicted. Interestingly, I believe Amane is the only one who hasn't gotten the reveal of someone important's actual face in the second round. We've seen a LOT of people with impact on her life, but none of them have been singled out with actual facial detail. Unless you count the swarm of Amanes, I guess.

Amane has or expects to take over a cult leader role.

She sees herself leading the Purge March. She seems to place herself in a position of authority. This, I'm sure, also relates to a very complex self image she likely possesses, but the fact of the matter is, she's the one leading it.

If she killed at least one cult leader (likely, Gozake is so dead), she might believe that she'd be the one to replace them. We don't know if this is true or not; Mu doesn't know what happened to her surrounding any legal punishments or authorities or anything, so it's possible that Amane doesn't actually know what the aftermath of her murder would end up being.

Still, it's something to consider. If Amane, unchanged, returned to the world, she could very believably recruit others into the cult and continue the cycle.

Amane wants to be innocent, but she has changed the meaning of what an innocent verdict is.

Amane is pulling a Trial 1 Kotoko. She's offered Es a deal surrounding verdicts. That makes it much harder for us to communicate with Amane, because she changed what the verdict means.

Much like Kotoko in Trial 1, Amane's Trial 2 audio drama is her guiding Es through the discussion she wants to happen. She tells Es that she wants Milgram's forgiveness so she can turn it into the ideal world for her cult.

That means that, if we vote Amane innocent, she likely will take it as Es approving Milgram for her cult. That's obviously bad, but the other prisoners (other than maybe like Haruka) are hopefully not impressionable enough for it to be a problem?

However, I still do believe Amane wants to be innocent. She asks Es to remember her pleas for forgiveness at the end of the Purge March MV. We all forgive Amane; the question is how to tell Amane that we forgive her disobedience and we're sorry for the situation she grew up in without approving the cult's beliefs.

It's wrong to torture a child in order to get them to conform to your beliefs.

This is what Amane's story is about. The cult leaders tortured Amane until she was brainwashed into their beliefs. Amane insists that, just because her beliefs aren't the norm, that doesn't make them wrong.

Arguably, a guilty verdict could be seen as doing the exact same thing. We'd be subjecting Amane to audio torture, at least, given that we know guilty prisoners are bombarded nonstop with the reasons why people voted them guilty. She would also be restrained, and due to Kotoko's attacks, we know it's at least hypothetically possible she could get physically injured from it to.

That's obviously not cool. Don't like that part.

Amane wants to kill Shidou.

Amane warned us that Shidou's actions (saving Mahiru's life and healing up Futa) disobey with her beliefs, and if we don't do something about it, she'll have to take action. It's not entirely clear whether that means she'll punish Shidou as she was punished, or if she'll attack Mahiru to kill her as God intended.

Either way, it's bad news for Mahiru if that happens. It's been directly stated that Mahiru is in a critical condition, and it's possible that the removal of Shidou as her doctor could kill her even if she doesn't get hurt again. If Amane killed Shidou, it could mean both of them could die.

However, Kazui has also promised that, if he gets an innocent verdict, he'll protect anyone he can from harm. Kazui could take Amane in a fight (I forget where but somewhere it's established that Kazui is the strongest in a fight, plus he beat Kotoko who I assume could easily beat Amane), so hopefully Kazui will be able to protect Shidou.

That also opens up the door for a weird possibility, though, which is the case of Haruka. Given that, in this case, Kazui would be focused on protecting Shidou and/or Mahiru from Amane, that means that Kazui would likely not have time to look after other prisoners, such as Haruka, who's threatened suicide if we voted Mu guilty. Which we did.

So, basically, the whole thing's a mess and voting Amane innocent makes it much more likely that someone dies, whether that someone is Shidou, Mahiru, Haruka or some combination.

VERDICT: ???

If you couldn't tell, the last four sections are me deliberating on which verdict to give her. In my opinion, there are a lot of arguments in both directions, which makes it difficult to decide. If I was ignoring meta voting, I'd obviously vote innocent, given that Amane is a highly traumatized child and she killed her abuser(s). That's forgivable. However, given other circumstances surrounding the dynamics of her vote, I have doubts on if it's really the "right" move.

I think that with Amane, there's no good option. To be clear, I don't regret the Trial 1 guilty verdict. I've seen a lot of people saying that this state of no good options is a result of stupid people thinking guilty was right last trial. I think that an innocent verdict would just mean that she'd be like Kotoko is right now, believing that she's right without a shadow of a doubt. Milgram is mean, intentionally. They weren't going to give us good options either way.

As a result, given that I can tell a lot of people have WAY stronger opinions on this one than I do, I'm currently not actually voting. If the margin gets close enough, I'll probably commit to a direction, but for now, I'm letting the rest of the fanbase steer the verdict. I was fully team guilty when I was worried about Kazui getting a guilty verdict. With Kazui innocent, I'm much more open to the possibility of forgiving Amane, because that verdict hopefully won't cost Shidou and/or Mahiru's lives.

If you have a convincing theory or argument in either the innocent or guilty direction, please let me know! If I'm ever convinced enough, I'll probably start voting, but for right now, I'm honestly neutral on the verdict.

i want to writhe a little one-shot on the dpxdc fandom in honor of all the victims of Tlatelolco, but... i don't know if its morally okay or if its gonna be super dark.

And why i want to write something? because of all the similarities that there is:

-Legal genocide made/attempted by government agents wearing withe.

-Reports of ghosts, gohuls, polisters and paranormal activity associated to that tragical event.

-Laws and acts being made after that.

-Outside media didn't know about it after the Olympics when a Mexican movie related it and all the people involved in that movie had to run away from the government. (the movie only was on theaters like 1 afternoon on international boxers because it was just THAT explicit... i mean it have real audio records of that day so...)

-You can hear the screams and see apparitions of the students who died that day.

Harry Potter Rec Fest Day 16 - a fic that made you laugh

This is such a fun prompt, @hprecfest! I knew immediately the fics that I would choose. Funny how laughing out loud in a silent train or waiting room makes the memory of a fic stick in your head (ditto tomorrow's prompt - a fic that made you cry).

The Draco-Hermione banter in this fic is top tier. I laughed out loud repeatedly. They decide to fake relationship for all the events of the Parkinson-Potter wedding and of course, fall for real.

The audio version is from a (possibly?) abandoned podcast where two British ladies read fan fiction to one another. They stop frequently to comment and laugh, but it's a testament to the incredible writing of the fic that I remember it so clearly still.

Another wonderful fic from @hd-fan-fair Career Fair 2023. I just loved all the little world-building details of this fic. Draco is a museum curator and in competition/rivalry with the other museum departments. Harry brings all the next gen kids to visit his exhibition, frequently. Also included: "from the mouths of babes" hilarious truth bombs, hot semi-public sex, momentary jealousy over a very fit Charlie Weasley, and dragons dragons dragons! No podfic version yet, but I would love the chance to do it.

@eggbagelsjr is HILARIOUS. I'm only sorry that some of the puns in this didn't translate very well to the audio medium in my recorded version. But the dynamic between Draco and Hermione is so great here, awkward Human Resources worker Draco in his tiny little office is sad and cute, nerdy sapiosexual getting together between the pair while writing an academic article is 100% my bag, and I had to edit out a lot of laughing as I recorded this.

Because they know better than any "couch judges" or fans how hard and difficult it is what skaters do on the ice and they can appreciate with better understanding of the technical aspects of skating and with experience in their own careers how judging works and what's going on politically and personally behind the scenes. If not skaters than who knows better how crucial judging decisions are.

A Japanese article didn't criticize the scoring specifically, but adressed - as far as automatic translation is any use - the strictness of the event compared to other GP events and question the equality in judgement in scoring. Source (I added this because it's rare for Jmedia to release something sort of critical on scoring.)

Of course these are all just opinions and none of them or us is a technical controller or do have a monopol on having the "right" opinion but I think it still speaks for itself if other skaters speak in favor of Shoma compared to what some "couch analysts" say.

Kaiju Week in Review (October 9-15, 2022)

Supreme shock sensation of our times: a Godzilla comic released on schedule! Godzilla: Monsters & Protectors - All Hail the King! #1 dropped on Wednesday. I'll confess I forgot about it for a couple of days; your priorities get scrambled when you're recovering from knee surgery. This is a direct sequel to last year's Monsters & Protectors; I don't recommend going in blind. Two big reasons to pick it up: Gabara's debut in American comics (in a dream, natch) and a professional Xilien troll who muses over which reaction .gif he should deploy. Yeah, me too.

Toho released a teaser and this very cool still for the upcoming short Fest Godzilla 3: Gigan's Attack, showing off the Showa Gigan replica suit Shinichi Wakasa built. It's strange to see it opposite FinalGoji (presumably the same stunt suit from last year's Godzilla vs. Hedorah short). I guess it's just his destiny to face Godzilla suits that are barely holding themselves together.

I cannot hope to comprehensively cover the deluge of Godzilla merchandise forever threatening my bank account in this column, but I would like to spotlight this enamel Baragon pin, designed by Christian Gonzalez for Ghost X Ghost. When I saw it my hands simply moved to order of their own volition.

The Dino De Laurentiis King Kong films are getting format upgrades. StudioCanal has a 4K restoration of the 1976 remake slated for November 28, while Umbrella Entertainment is bringing King Kong Lives, long out of print in the States, to Blu-ray on January 18. Neither company is American, but 4Ks don't have region codes and I hear Umbrella Blu-rays are typically region-free.

Probably neither will be a buy for me. The color grading on the 4K King Kong doesn't look great, and the special features don't measure up to the Blu-ray Shout! released last year. I will grant that the King Kong Lives Blu looks like a winner, with great packaging and new special features including a Ray Morton audio commentary. (They had to be new; the old DVD didn't have a thing to mine.) But it's not exactly one of my favorites, and since Shout! recently picked up the rights to it, I'd rather hold out for a version I don't have to import.

Just over a year after it premiered at Fantastic Fest, Iké Boys is out on digital courtesy of (they just keep coming up) Shout! Factory. Hopefully a physical release will follow, because this heartfelt American tribute to tokusatsu doesn't deserve to be buried in the Google Play Store. Set in the last month of 1999, it concerns a pair of Oklahoma tokusatsu geeks and a Japanese exchange student trying to prevent the apocalypse, empowered by the obscure 1969 anime film that predicted it. It's very low-budget and hits a lot of predictable coming-of-age beats, but it's got a good heart and Yumiko Shaku (yes, Akane in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla) classes it up. Also... it's not often I'm pandered to so directly. The director's one of us, to put it mildly.

Big thing are happening on the bootleg circuit... a couple of them last week, but I never posted about them on Tumblr and this is the first installment of this column. Yesterday, Skeweds Translations posted fansubs for What to Do with the Dead Kaiju?, Toei and Shochiku's kaiju comedy with no U.S. release outside of film festivals in sight. The film is catastrophically bad, I'm sorry to say, failing as a satire and as a genre exercise; Day of the Kaiju handled the same premise far better in a quarter of the time. But if you're so inclined, you can find a copy of the movie itself on the cat site... along with a higher-quality copy of Shin Ultraman than was uploaded there previously. I don't know where these things are coming from (Zarab?), but I'm not complaining.

And in the how-can-this-be-real category, a treat for your ears: the recently unearthed Hong Kong dub of Hanuman and the Seven Ultramen. As in Godzilla vs. Megalon, Ted Thomas, Chris Hilton, and Warren Rooke voice many of the characters. You won't believe the words coming out of their mouths—I don't think they did either. Between the child murder, checkmated atheist, and Hanuman's unquenchable thirst for carnage, this was always one of the kaiju movies with the most jaw drops per minute, and it just got better. A VHS containing the dub turned up in Lebanon; @Redcome40977685, @PrissMegaforce, Omayyad, and Elie Al Hajj got it digitized and @spacehunter-m synced the audio up to a fine-looking widescreen version.

The Filtered Audio//Finding Your Treason (Long ass post ahead)

I did not plan to speak again or the filtering audio of Lauren or Ally and the theory of betrayal, but a mutual on Twitter sent me some verses of Camila's song, Real Friends and told me about Ally's book. Since then, I could not stop thinking about that.

The song Real Friends talks about treason, really. "I thought I could trust you." Of someone who is on her side and then changed her side and especially naivety: "I think I was very naive to read the signs." Can the song talk about Camila and Lauren's relationship? Yes, of course. But you can also talk about Caminah, Normila and also, Camally. We have to remember that, although we are on this boat for Camren, Camila had more relationships inside the band than only her green -eyed girl and the feud circus affected them all. So, the song can also talk about her relationship with Ally. Why not? Our problem here is that we only have one side of the story. Ally's side. Not the other girls' side of their story.

And this is where I want to stop, folks. Ally's book, her version of her history. My Twitter mutual did me the favor of translating a Twitter thread with parts of the book (the most prominent) and there are some details of that story that of course, caught my attention.

The first fact that caught my attention is that she never wanted to audition for TXF: "She didn’t want to audition for XFactor because she did not want to be in a reality show, her parents convinced her, she tells how the process was with the judges, bootcamp, when they tell her that she is eliminated and then they put her in a group" (Hello Zayn! Sorry, I could not help it) For me it is a curious detail because the one that left the band was Camila and she was also asked her parents to take her to the TXF auditions in exchange for celebrating her fifteen birthday. We know the rest of the story, so it attracts my attention that it was precisely Ally who went out with a book telling her participation in a contest and in a group in which she said "never wanted to belong" irony? I don't know. Ally mentions in many parts of the book, everything they did not let her have or do inside the band because the main focus was never her. I can understand this part of the story, because Ally was the one who always wanted to be recognized, attract the attention of producers and work in the industry. It is obvious that she has felt annoying, but once again. She was not the only one. "She always resented that since she was the oldest they didn’t let her parents accompany her and she missed them a lot. During the live shows his grandfather died, it was one of the most difficult things that happened to her. Simon paid for the flight to SA for her grandfather's funeral, she only got to go two days" About the last part, I need someone to tell me: Did Simon pay for the other girls' what he paid for Ally? Because I remember read that Lauren couldn't be at her grandma's funeral. The same with Dinah, but I can't remember where I did it.

Another part of the book that caught my attention: "They were forced to record a song that would be their 1st single, it was about a walk of shame from a drunk one night stand, they all felt uncomfortable because they were very young, when they complained they were told that "they had not hired a Christian group" Ally it felt like it was for her after a while the others began to give in about the song but she did not, they wanted to convince them that it did not necessarily have to be about sex that it could be "revealing yourself to a teacher" and that the video would show it that way. In the end the label gave in and they didn't continue with that song, then they recorded Worth it, they all loved it, that video is one of their favs, they released it as a single and everything changed, it was a boom!" I think I can't say much about how bastards who were behind the band, behind the girls. They sexualized them to a disgusting degree always and unfortunately, it is something that is still sold. (I'm going to refer to this later) After this Will Bracey appeared

Another part of the book that was important:

"They recorded 7/27, she met with an executive who made an inappropriate comment to her: “you would look good in a thong”, then he sent her a message inviting her to his hotel. WFH was a SUCCESS. They filmed Flex in bathing suits and it made her feel worse. “Things” were happening behind the scenes and she wanted to escape, one day she ordered wine from room service and got drunk and threw up until Will went into her room and found her".

I will be brutally honest with this part, folk. Too honest. So much so that you may not agree with me about it and I accept it, but I can't stop thinking about it. And I don't believe Ally what she said of the producer and I don't know whether to believe in what Ally says she had fainted how drunk she was. And what was Will Bracey who has found her? I don't know. Too convenient considering she and Will ended in a relationship.

What I mean is: did we ever see Ally so drunk that she was unable to hold herself? I don't remember it. All I remember is to see Lauren so drunk in a video that staggered everywhere. All I remember is having seen Camila just as drunk as she had to hold a car because she otherwise fell to the ground. With this it is not my intention to question her alcohol problem, but I have seen her at parties and drinking then, do she really have a problem?

And about the "things" that were happening behind the scenes, I am sure that it is the feud and the next departure of Camila from the band. Another detail to highlight in all this. The date record that I found on Lauren's filtered audio was also in 2016. Just after Camila left the band.

This part of the book talks about 4H:

"In 2016 4H stayed (1st time mentioning the name of the other N-L-DJ) the group and she felt very good personally, she released Look At Us Now, “Fifth Harmony” came out and debuted at number 4 on BB200!! They won more prizes, they recorded Can You See and Please, they sang at Disney World, it was the best trip of their lives, at this stage everything was wonderful. She sang with Placido Domingo, She released Perfect. The label basically told them that it would not support them with another album, she was the last to agree to part ways. After 6 years they announced the separation on 19/Mar/18."

Do you remember that I would talk about the sexualization of girls again? Then remember Down and He Like That MVs. At least two songs with high sexualized content, but Ally was okay with it considering that before she complained about being sexualized. But What does Ally say of the 4H era? That "she felt very good personally". This, I believe it. Sorry but of course she would feel very good because with Camila out of the image she finally would have what she wanted the most. Spotlight. What happened? The spotlight continues to be on Camila as soloist but in the band, the spotlight went to Lauren. And what did I think it happened when Ally realized that the spotlight was for Lauren and not for her? She resented it and oh coincidence, an audio was filtered with Lauren where she speaks badly of the management and curiously Ally was present at that time. I'm so sorry folks, but you can't tell me that all this is a fucking coincidence because for me, in this case, nothing is a fucking coincidence.

You can tell me everything you want. That I am wrong, that I am leaving Ally in a light too negative and that she does not deserve it because she also suffered and poor the sunshine who did not deserve everything that happened to her. And shit, folk. She suffered yes, I don't doubt it. But Ally Brooke chose a side. She chose them (Maverick/Management) and not the other four girls who lived and suffered the same as her. It is Ally who released a book about it and is profiting with her part of THEIR history. A fucking book that has never had the public support of the other four girls. Any.

Ask yourself why.

And after all this, Ally was the first not only to release a book with her story in the band, but the first to leave Sony when the other three girls (Lauren, Camila and Normani) continued to be stuck in Sony. I do not mention Dinah because she signed for Hitco that belonged to L.A. Reid and that was sold to Concord and is an independent label.

Lauren's message to Ally for her arrival at Atlantic is curious, because it is another detail that I don't know if to believe at all. Lauren's social networks were being manipulated by the people of Maverick and Tyren's fiascos were that confirmation. And I mentioned Maverick because Will was working with them too.

If someone has arrived here without hating me yet, I appreciate it very much. I wanted to finish this post with an interview at 4h. One where Dinah apologizes to Camila without saying her name.

If there is something that makes me angry at this video, it is that it has been Dinah who was the one who apologized. Dinah, folks. The same Dinah that did not follow the plan of the feud to stop following Camila after her departure from her band. The same Dinah that continues to support her publicly so far. She mentioned her apology. She talked about the lack of communication and asked to let her know how to fix what she did wrong. Interestingly, two concepts of which Lauren herself has sung. She has a collab called Let Me Know and in Expectations she mentions the lack of communication just like Inside. If you realize in the video, Dinah looks at Lauren when she mentions the communication. But the body language of all girls also says a lot.

What I can see in two of the images of the video is the closeness of Normani and Dinah, the shock on Lauren's face And Ally … discomfort. I don't know if you can see it, but Dinah, Normani and Lauren seem to be closer on her side and Ally having a distance between her and Dinah. Someone have assured me that yes, but it is not something that I can completely confirm. Ally was manipulated? I have my doubts. She was always of legal age when 5H was created so she knew what she was doing. She always wanted to be in the industry, act, to be noticed. I believe that they used her wishes against her and that made her betray two bandmates who until today continue to fight their demons from their time in 5H. I know I can put Dinah in the same place too. Normani? Normani is Normani, she's a survivor and have the support of her community. I will this subject here, folks. You are free to ask me about it but I'm also free to decide if answer or not. You are also free to not believe me because this is not hate post. There seems to be 2 different set of messages. One that comes from the tab name, and one that comes from the audio.

Admin Saturn: I now have a crush on kazui! The other admins have been trying to convince me that because his whole arc is showing why he's not a good husband to his wife but like bro... open marriage and a guy that buys me flowers and holds my hand and takes me on drives? Sounds pretty swaggy to me! Also he ate a bird! Thats kinda wack!

Overall based on the info we have and everything he's said in his VD (assuming its to be trusted cause he does have that whole lying thing going on), I would personally go with inno. Like unless his sin was suicide baiting her, I don't entirely see how this could turn into a guilty situation. Definitely not on the same level as a lot of the other prisoners. (looking at how guilty mahiru should be but isn't getting)

Admin Venus: I'll summarize what I talked about in my theory, but honestly, I feel like Kazui didn't do all that much wrong. He seems like he just kinda let life go the way other people wanted it to go for him, and somewhere along the way he realized he really didn't enjoy it. At some point he got "greedy" and took steps to try to change that, but his wife probably committed suicide or possibly got into some kind of accident or something. Either way, that's what resulted in her death.

Between that and him being useful on defense from a meta standpoint, I'm not sure why I would vote him guilty. I wish we knew more though, I feel like both half and Cat were pretty sparse on details relating to the actual death of his wife. Like, I understand your situation, Kazui, tell me what actually happened!

Side note though, it's really interesting to me in the audio drama that he says he wants Es to find out his sin. In the first trial, I'd thought his MV was giving nothing because he was purposefully burying details to hide them from us. After hearing that line in the audio drama and seeing this MV, I feel more like Kazui's repressing his feelings on whatever his sin is so hard that even the MVs can't quite get at them.

(Also, the fact that we still haven't seen anyone who he's romantically involved with (other than his wife) adds to the theory that he's gay for me. A lot of other people (Shidou's wife, Mahiru's lover, etc.) have gotten relevant characters' faces revealed this time, and while we did get that for Kazui's wife, I feel like who he was with would've been revealed to us unless there was a specific reason to hide it (ex. he was with a man).)

Admin Mercury here. Uhhh I really got nothing on my mind but shitposts tbh. When listening to his VD, I really got the impression he was still lying or at least being overly dramatic like the theater kid he is. Especially in this part:

Admin Neptune: I'm definitely team innocent. Although it seems like Kazui hurt his wife by not wanting to be married anymore, he tried to be a better person and stop lying to her. Unfortunately, according to him, this resulted in her death. It doesn't really seem like he did much wrong, especially compared with many of the other prisoners, and he helps keep the prisoners safe.

The part where his wife's image transforms into what is seemingly a man with an apple for a head (along with other parts such as the "I can't stop, I can't be normal") leads me to believe that he's gay. Assuming that the apple is supposed to represent something he feels is forbidden, this part could represent his desire to date/marry a man instead. I find it interesting that he sees this image through an alcoholic drink, and I feel like it represents something but I'm not completely clear on what.

Since Kazui says "I can't live unless I lie" as mentioned above in the VD, I wouldn't be surprised if he was still lying, but I do believe that he never actually cheated on his wife. I do wonder if he would consider "emotional cheating" infidelity, and it seems like the temptation might have been there when he says "it didn't even turn into infidelity."
