Midnight Midwinter

On Olua, days and seasons are not marked by rotation and revolution, but by her proximity to the nearest star. When the space turtle runs low on stored starlght and grows hungry, she turns and sets her sights on the brightest speck in vicinity. This turning motion creates quakes and tsunamis, jostles felt by the whole planet. Though its inhabitants have long since adapted to this periodical disturbance, it remains neither pleasant nor comfortable. Lives and structures are disrupted, especially in harder banks and drifts, and a period of reconstruction must follow. Rebuilding must happen quickly, for though the next springdawn is approaching, it will be some time before the star's warmth and magic can be felt. For now, the world is growing stiller, and any changes must be swift and decisive to beat the cold. These are the conditions for Midnight, (my temporary name for) this world's winter solstice. Different cultures and species have different traditions, but one common image is a community coming together to repair, maintain, and strengthen something -- and making a party of it. The feeling is much like a barn raising. After the work is done, each group does something fun, creates and shares warmth, and feasts on whatever sustenance can be spared. For the species who hibernate, Midnight is followed by a period of winding down, as they prepare for their torpor until the approaching star's warmth can be felt.

I am welcoming these two beauties into my stable the first week of May!  They are so cute!

The White Mustang is SpringDawn (mare) and the North Sweetish Horse is RoyalTrouble (Stallion).

I can't help but notice that everytime I take a picture of these two it looks like RoyalTrouble always has a sidelong glance at SpringDawn!😊

Sunpaw graduates and is named Sunleaf.

Leapwing confessed her feelings for Sunleaf and they have become mates.

Stitches claw-wound has healed, but she'll always carry evidence of the incident on her pelt.

Stitches has gotten a stomachache.

Stitches is spending a lot of time with Sunleaf.

Falling comes up with a plan to sneak out of camp with Springdawn.

Falling swaps favorite prey with Shimmerpelt.

Leapwing realizes her heart flutters whenever she sees Sunleaf.

I finally transferred my beauties over to my stable from the SSO Horses app! (Only 3 weeks later then expected)

The white Mustang is SpringDawn (mare) and the North Sweetish Horse is RoyalTrouble (Stallion). They are so adorable!  

I am not a big fan of the SSO mustangs, but this pure white one is beautiful!  I also love her tack, it matches her so well!  Spring is a fun mare that is full of life, hence the name SpringDawn.

The name RoyalTrouble really fits this boy!  He is a super sweet horse but he can be a real trickster!  I do not have any tack pick out for him right now, I just have a mix-match of tack on him for now.   Comment if you have some good ideas!
