So I did an edit! Yay! I like making edits just as much as drawing, if not more. This one I feel has a bit much going on but oh well.

"a hundred ways, a hundred motions", #1 & #2

In every universe, there's a Jeremy, and there's the Squip. The dynamics may change, their time together varied, but they are always, always drawn to one another...

Hey guys! For SquipJer Week, I'm finishing/continuing a "set prompt per dabble" challenge (so, 100-500 words of different AUs based loosely on the prompts given) I started in 2019; my goal is to finish each prompt, whether through writing or a small sketch every now & then, all of this month (independent this project, I'll also try to make 1 new SJ art piece or story or something)!

Here are the dabbles themselves (which you can also find on my AO3, @ Sedusa); the first (Red, Late) is played straight, but the second (Favorable Outcome) is a very silly practice since I haven't written like this in a while.

Chapter 1: Red, Late.

Jeremy painted his lips carnelian red and stared at the clock.

Men, women, and whoever else worked backstage bustled around behind him. There was a wide arch where they feared encroaching upon his personal space, which he quietly appreciated. Though he'd learned how to mask the near-constant anxiety long ago, it still bubbled uncomfortably beneath the surface, making him increasingly nauseous under the already-tight cotton and leather that cinched his waist. He pressed the feathery fluff around his thighs down rhythmically to soothe himself.

The clock ticked until the big hand met the little one over the number 6, setting off simultaneous crewmen alarms. It was time to get out there. Jeremy sighed, standing up.

Just as he turned to leave, however, the door slammed open. The bustling worker bees parted, and a towering figure of black hair and blue eyes took one, two, three confident strides towards him. "Darling."

Relief melted against Jeremy's skin. He hadn't noticed how close to panic he actually was; he felt muscles he hadn't realized he'd clenched going loose. Still, he made it a point to scowl, brows narrowed and lips pressed thin. "W-wh... w-where were you?"

"Traffic." His annoyance was ignored, as large hands tilted his chin up and cupped his cheek. "As your official SQUIP agent, I'm contractually obligated to inform you that you look like Cupid's favorite hooker."

A smile. "I'm gu... g-guessing you, um, love it, then?"

"Of course." Their lips met, and Jeremy forgot he was supposed to be mad. He looked around at the crew, who averted their gaze to pretend they hadn't all been staring. He sniffed with mild disdain. "It's time to save the pitiful children running this show. Are you ready?:"

Jeremy nodded, beaming up at him. "You knn, kn-know I am."

The SQUIP smiled. Turning him around, he gave a small swat to Jeremy's ass, where fishnets met satin and fluff. "Then go. Remember, I expect perfection."

Perhaps that should've been terrifying. Instead, Jeremy puffed his chest full of fool's confidence and walked out the door.

Chapter 2: Favorable Outcome

The power went out 548 Perfect’s deep into Squip’s START; DASH Master combo.

Not that he noticed, of course. The fluorescent lighting of Jeremy’s living room glared too bright across his tablet screen, so Squip had made a habit of withdrawing to the closet when he played, the light off and the door closed. Combining that with the music he set at the highest level, he didn’t even hear Jeremy’s string of profanity; instead, he was made aware of the situation when -- as the song ended for the 78th time that day -- Jeremy knocked on his door and requested assistance.

… well. It was more like he pounded on it in a manic flurry, then demanded Squip come out and help in a shrill, irritated voice.

Squip chose to ignore him.

“Fuck,” Jeremy hissed, as Squip exited the bubbly LIVE CLEAR screen and clicked on the Scout page.

One single, beautiful, brand new UR card smiled up at him there, the glittering sparkle effect surrounding its boosted roll stats seducing him better than the skin of Jeremy’s thighs had the day he moved in.

He clicked the 11 Scout button & watched a bag of horseshit doubles come instead.

Drats.

Never had the allure of paying actual money for anime cards ever hit as strongly as it did in moments like these, but still, he resisted; not only did he have some level of basic self-respect, he could tell, from the limited connection he still had to his SQUIP predictive technology, that the odd were not there for a favorable outcome. Not until tonight, at the very least.

… also, he wasn’t far from the next 50 gem count anyway, so really, it’d be a waste. Just a few more Master clears, tops, for the rest of his gems, and --

“-- we already p-paid the bill this month, you ss, s-stupid asshole --” Jeremy’s angry voice suddenly carried in over the menu music. Squip blinked, then turned the volume down. “You have our m-money, I’m not a-asking for a f-fuck, um, fucking -- NO, do NOT put me on hold, I just -- FUCK!”

… huh.

Well. This would be the perfect time for a break, actually; after several weeks of practice. he could do these songs in his sleep. A little time apart wouldn’t ruin his odds.
