Eligible engineering graduates can apply for the SSC Tech 56 and SSCW Tech 27 from 14th Oct 2020 and the last date for the online application is 12th Nov 2020. SSC Tech is a special entry for the male and female engineering graduates to join the Indian Army as an SSC officer. What opportunities exist for women in India who want to join the armed forces?

Indian Army is open to both males and girls. Different entries fall under different categories. I'll be very particular about entries involving girls here.

To divide the general applicants, there are two categories :

Technical Entry

Non Technical Entry

Technical Entry for Girls

Anyone who is in final year of engineering or has completed her engineering can apply directly for SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION OF WOMEN (Technical) entry also known as SSCW(Tech). The applications are published on Join Indian Army. 

The applicant fills this application, attaches the concerned documents as mentioned which are generally your certificates of class 10th, 12th and engineering semesters and sends it to the address as mentioned in the application itself.

**The short listed applicants who make it in that cut off list get a call and is notified of the centre out of Bangalore, Bhopal and Allahabad, where she has to report for SERVICE SELECTION BOARD (SSB).

This SSB is actually a five day interview process where on the first day itself 90% of the strength is rejected during screening in. A basic aptitude test along with a group discussion is taken for the screening in the candidates for next four days. Read through the following links to get a better idea regarding the tests that form part of SSB :

NCC

Once the candidates get screened in, they have to undergo four days of tests which include written, verbal and physical tests to test your aptitude and atittude in respect to joining army. After these four days, the results are told after a conference and rejected candidates are considered “conference out” and are sent back.

The selected candidates under go around a week long medical tests and once the medicals are over, they are sent back and told to wait for the final results. According to vacancy a list is generated according to the performance of the candidates. Those who make it to the final list are sent in detail Joining Instructions for Officer Training Academy and given the slotted date of joining.

They undergo eleven months of training and on successful completion join as Indian Army Officers.

Non Technical Entry For Girls

The only addition for a non technical graduate girl is added task of clearing CDS before she gets a call for SSB. Combined Defence Services (CDS) is a written aptitude examination and details of this is published on various websites.

After the candidate clears CDS , the entire procedure of SSB remains as mentioned above. Check the paragraph starting with ** to be exact.
