Burger Review #8 - Paddy O'Burgs
What does one associate with the St Patricks Day?  Parades, wearing green, shamrocks, having a Guinness – the usual stereotypes. But nowadays it seems any company will use the most tenuous of links to ride St’Paddys coattails in order to make a sale. With that in mind, lets have a look at, from Loaded by BL – the Paddy O’Burgs Burger. Now, the above description sounds kinda nice.  The choice to…

🍀HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!!🍀I FINALLY MADE A POST FOR THIS HOLIDAY HOLY CHEESE!!! I'm so freakin' happy that I didn't miss it this year, I made this way ahead of time so I could focus mainly on Onix's birthday this month, but now, I can unleash the demon!!! Or the leprechaun actually, & who has been chosen as this year's leprechaun? It's Turbo!!! 😆✨✨✨
Tumblr media
Now, what do I mean by chosen you may ask yourselves, well, like many holidays, this mansion has specific traditions to keep each holiday entertaining throughout the year. And when St. Patrick's Day arrives, the tradition this mansion has is both mischievous & loads of fun, depending on who the victor is. You see, on the night before the holiday, a four-leaf clover is placed under the door belonging to an individual amongst the mansion, that person is to be the leprechaun for the entire day & avoid capture till midnight. If the leprechaun escapes every attempt of capture by the others, the leprechaun gets to paint one person of choice entirely green, hair & all! But, if someone catches the leprechaun, the leprechaun is forced to sing & dance to whatever song the captor chooses & can't stop till the song is over. Many people have been the leprechaun throughout the years, but mainly Turbo since he's played the role perfectly regardless of if he's won or not, though he wins quite often due to his speed. But the game is a 50/50 chance kind of game so everyone could have a shot at winning.

St Patrick's Day is just weird when you think about it.
It's a holiday that exists to celebrate a specific country, that is celebrated worldwide.
Loads of countries have specific days for celebrating their country, usually some form of independence day. And many of these celebrations spill over into diasporas and immigrant communities in other countries.
But while St. Patrick's Day started that way, it's expanded beyond it's diaspora and immigrant communities, and is celebrated in countries that don't have much of an Irish population.
It just sounds like this weird, quirky thing from a fantasy story. "Oh this is the day we celebrate this specific nation about 5000 miles away. Why? Oh, well, we just like them."

Happy Valentine's Day everyone. I never really know what to post for today because I know potentially it is a loaded day. At my core I am a failed existentialist and as such I believe that it is a day that holds no inherent meaning except the meaning we give it. Thus Valentine's Day and what it means is up to you. But I also know we're people and it's really hard to separate yourself from outside pressures and expectations and however much we might wish to infuse things only with our own meaning and however much happier that would make us we can't do it. Not really. Really Valentine's Day is a day since you were a kid you have been told about things. By friends, parents, billions of dollars in marketing. Everyone had a say and what it means might shift over time for you but there are external pressures as well as expectations on how you should feel. Really all these days we assign meaning to are sign posts and landmarks in your life and if things are going well they are a triumph but if things aren't they feel like a rebuke. I get that, so I won't tell you that today doesn't matter and it is whatever you make it. If you are sad or lonely or whatever negative thing you are feeling. I don't want to rob you of how you feel with false positivity that can be as toxic as negativity. I will tell you that I have felt it, too. I feel it too sometimes. I know what it's like to love someone who can't love you back. I know how it feels to be lonely. How it feels to feel like a failure. I know it hurts. I know sometimes the weight of it can feel crushing and you wonder how you'll ever dig yourself out of it and days like today feels like someone is just stacking weights on top of all that. I know how it feels and I am sorry if that is you. It is hard and what you are going through is hard and someone should say it. So I am. I will also tell you it's just one day. Not in the sense that it doesn't matter but there is a tomorrow and a tomorrow after that and eventually Valentine's Day will be in the rearview and then we have President's Day and St. Patrick's Day and Arbor Day and you know what? There are like zero expectations there. Embrace those as your holiday. What shit is someone going to give you about President's Day? You didn't buy a fucking mattress? Besides, romance is over rated. What do you get when you kiss a girl? Just enough germs to catch pneumonia. Anyway, speaking of girls here is Ariadna Majewska because she's really pretty. Apparently yesterday was her birthday as well, so I guess it's timely? Anyway, hope you all have a good day and enjoy these pictures. Or don't, it's your day, do what you want. Today I want to fuck Ariadna Majewska.

March 15
sometimes when i go grocery shopping my father comes along. he’s three years gone and still can’t help but comment in my head. He wants to see what fish they have. If there’s anything on sale, slows down to read the prices and compare. I can’t buy things in bulk these days. I don’t have a car. I walk. I came in for two things, that’s all— but i’m here. I might as well. Butter’s cheap. And cereal, the kind my roommate likes. I don’t approve of using food as love in all dimensions. It gets messy when you think getting takeout means disdain— but i see corned beef in buckets along with cabbage. for St Patrick’s day. Just like my father made, in times gone by. I buy corned beef, and carrots, and potatoes. Not the cabbage: I love, I miss my dad but not to that degree. (we fought about the cabbage. i remember that as well. food as love. it can get messy.) i buy the butter, and the cereal, two things I came for grew to twelve. I leave the store. I lift the load alone.

I think Valentine’s Day has been talked about a lot already, but what about St. Patrick’s Day? What do you think about four-leaf clovers?
Piranha: Four leaf clovers are magical! They give you like infinite good luck!
Snake: That is a load of baloony.
Shark: Come on Snake! It's true!
Snake: I don't believe in good luck. I believe in bad luck, calamity. Everyday I have to put up with some kind of misfortune.
Wolf: Aww, Snake, you grumpypants. We're all lucky to have each other.
Snake: Okay, you got me there. But there is no such thing as four leaf clovers. Slithers off mumbling.
Piranha: Maybe we should find him a four leaf clover.
Wolf: Maybe we should.

Because it’s St Patrick’s Day, I vote that we should dress Chihiro up in his adorable leprechaun outfit from the anniversary for the rest of the month. Bonus points for pinching his lucky wide load if he’s not wearing any festive bloomers or panties
Disclaimer: R18 material! If not to your liking then please do not view!
“D-do I really have to weEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!” Yes, yes he does. As evidenced by both Mondo and Miu gave his fat wobblecheeks a wicked pinch, and even a smack in his fancy leprechaun outfit.
Such is the price for his tastes!!!

Anthony Hogan's paragraph descriptions of John Byrne (Johnny Guitar), Ringo Starr, Charles O'Brien (Ty O'Brien), and Walter Eymond (Lu Walters) from the book FROM A STORM TO A HURRICANE (2016)
" John [Byrne] was born on 4 December 1939 in Liverpool to Michael Patrick Byrne, a Seaman, born 22 October 1908, and Elsie Ford, who had married in the city in 1932. Elsie was born 10 July 1905 in Liverpool, with her early years being spent at No. 2 Belfast Road in Old Swan. Here she lived with her one sister and four brothers, her mother Eliza (nee Cowan) and her father Henry, who worked as a coal dealer. Her parents had married in 1898 and moved to the Old Swan area from Everton. By 1933 Michael and Elsie were living in London, where they had their first two children, Patrick and Norma. The family returned to Liverpool when Michael's work was moved there. After their return, John and Paul were born. John was a pupil at St Oswald's school in Old Swan and a part of the church of the same name. Like Alan, John had taken dance lessons at Martin's school on Derby lane. They had both attended the boys' club there as well. Just before his teen years John was struck down with rheumatic fever. He pulled through and spent six months in a Southport hospital convalescing. "
" Charles was born Charles William O'Brien in Liverpool on 15 February 1941, to Charles William O'Brien, born 1906 in Liverpool, and Marie Brierly, born 2 October 1904 in Liverpool. The couple married in 1927 at St Michael and Sacred Heart church on West Derby Road, Liverpool. The family lived at No. 49 Pemberton Road, Old Swan, with Charles Sr working as a seaman for the Canadian Pacific Line. Charles had an older sister named Marie who had been born in 1928. (..) Young Charles became a very talented amateur boxer, training at the Derby Lane gym, as well as a very good guitar player. He had been a pupil at St Oswald's school, and attended the church there. Charles, or Chas as he was often called, had known John Lennon and The Quarrymen in their early days. He was also another member of the band who had attended Martin's dance school on Derby Lane in Old Swan, where he proved to be a rather decent dancer. "
" Richard [Starkey] had been born on 7 July 1940, at No. 9 Madryn Street in the Dingle area of Liverpool, to Richard Starkey and Elsie Gleave, who had married in 1936. The couple had spent time dancing together on the ballroom circuit, but the birth of Richard drove them apart. Richard Snr showed little interest towards his son, preferring to spend his time drinking in local pubs. Elsie raised Richard and doted after him. In 1944 they moved the short distance to No. 10 Admiral Grove, the move being done by loading their possessions onto a handcart. Within a year Richard Shr had left and a divorce had been completed; his son barely saw him again. Richard, known as Ritchie, was very ill as a child, developing appendicitis aged six that led to a stay in the Myrtle Street children's hospital. He was a pupil at St Silas primary school and Dingle Vale secondary school, where he was a classmate of Billy Fury. In 1953 he contracted tuberculosis and was admitted to the children's hospital at Heswell on the Wirral. "
" Walter Eymond was born Walter Lewis Eymond on 6 August 1938 off Cazneau Street in Liverpool. His parents, who had married in Liverpool in 1934, were Henry Lewis Eymond, born 1906, and Mary Melia. Henry was the son of Lewis Felix Eymond and Georgina Esther Carruthers (Walter's grandparents) who in 1911 were living at No. 13 Buckingham Road in Walton, Liverpool, with Lewis working as a ship's pattern-maker. Walter's great-grandfather, Jean-Marie Henri Eymond, had brought his family over to England from the Bordeaux region of France. In 1875 he was living in the Dingle area of Liverpool and working as a master mariner. Walter also had a sister named Jean who had been born in 1935. During the Second World War Walter's home was bombed, resulting in the family being rehoused at No. 11 Ulster Road in Old Swan for the remainder of the war. Walter's father Henry worked as an electrical engineer and would often take his family with him when he worked in such places as London, Newcastle and Dudley in Birmingham. "

I know for a fact that the foxes make fun of Kevin for being Irish. Like, the amount of times that my best friend makes fun of me for being distantly Irish, Kevin absolutely gets shit for Kayleigh being Irish.
They'll be eating out before a game and Nicky gets french fries as a side. Kevin gives him a glare and comments that he shouldn't be loading up on carbs before they play and someone'll say "Come on, Nicky, you know he's still sensitive about the potato famine. Why'd you order fries in front of him." And Kevin just huffs out a huge sigh and grumbles to himself for a while.
Or on St. Patrick's day, everyone will make a huge deal out of "allowing Kevin to celebrate his culture". You know how elementary schools will sometimes pretend that leprechauns came to the classroom by making a mess and spreading green glitter everywhere? 100% the foxes do that to Kevin and his clothes have glitter still stuck on them for weeks.
One time someone comments that Kevin needs sunscreen while going outside for his "delicate Irish complexion" and he flips out because "That doesn't even make any sense! I'm mixed; I will not sunburn! Why don't you go after Neil, he's literally a redhead?!"

Advent Calendar: Day 4 @kit-just-kit
Tumblr media
Somewhere in the hustle and bustle of the week leading up to Christmas, Beth has to wonder how comfortable Kit really is. She has an open invitation to drop in for all the traditional activities; carols, food, fellowship, and ~the one that made Beth wince~ invited to join the clan at St Patrick’s Cathedral for Midnight Mass. She hadn’t made the face when Andy invited Kit via phone, trying to pencil in the plans he had in his head because she disliked the woman or didn’t want her to be part of the festivities. If anything, the more the merrier and maybe if Kit got to see what the family was like beneath the press photos and publicity junkets, then maybe she’d understand why the siblings were the way they were. The face came as part of her hindsight. Kit’s English and to the core. So maybe she’s not Catholic and doesn’t esteem Mother Church as much as they do. Still, she’s remarkably surprised that Kit shows up precisely at eight, four hours before they’re due to walk in through the doors. Beth is not inclined to be struck dumb by anyone, though she knows her friend is beautiful, and even she can’t help her mouth falling open just a little. The red sweater dress ~Chanel, she knows, she’d seen it on the runway~ hugs her figure without being overtly sexual in nature. Her hair looks so soft that it takes all of her willpower not to pet it, or lean in and smell it, because that’s weird and even she knows it. She does hug her though. Andy pauses what he’s doing to come around from the kitchen island to brush a kiss to her cheek and the pair of them chitchat for a few minutes while Beth goes and pours her a cup of coffee, just finished brewing. She then pours one for her brother and finally for herself. She takes their cups over to the living area and puts them on the coffee table to line up on either end of the couch. For a moment Beth is actually proud of her home; standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows is the twelve foot tree, gleaming with lights and tinsel, all sorts of bulbs from the different places and countries they’ve lived in. There are candles amidst the holly and ivy on the mantle, itself alight with gorgeously fragrant logs. There’s softly instrumental holiday music playing on the stereo system. It looks almost like a movie set but warm and cosy. They make small talk and the open space is filled with their laughter and the occasional glance over at Andy who also adds in pithy little comments now and again despite wearing an apron and baking. There’s a tray of golden brown crusted mince tartlets on the counter, and Beth encourages Kit to come along and steal one each. “Is pretty common f’ not eat until aftah Mass, a late night breakfast. Combine wi’ da aerobic exercise of standin’, sittin’ an’ kneelin’...I’m tellin’ ya sistah might as well carb load right now. An’ he made dis bourbon cream sauce t’ drizzle ovah dem. I been smellin’ all dem spice an’ sugar an’ jus…trus’ me. Every kine my braddah make jus’ broke da mout’. So ono, is like heaven.” Nothing escapes under said brother’s eagle eye or even his super human hearing because by the time she pulls Kit up off the couch, he’s got two little plates, both of them equal with one tart each, a drizzle of the sauce, and each one perfectly warm. “Just don’t tell Dad that I let you get away with this. He’ll rip me a new one.” Beth makes a sour face but doesn’t say anything about the Admiral, though Lord knows Kit’s heard enough to form her own opinion, and knows all things are vastly unequal between the siblings. “Don’ worry, I’ll let you sit next to me on the pew.”

Is there a single holiday we’re the risk of injury isn’t high?
Sorry I'm answering this so late-- I've been super busy!! But I suppose it works out, since there are a lot of overlapping holidays at the moment! :)
Generally, multiple factors need to be considered, so it's hard to say 100% definitively if one holiday may present a greater average risk than others, in terms of increased injury potential or increased case load potential for healthcare services.
A document you might be interested in about this is from the Scottish Government, which provides a good example: Improving Health and Social Care Service: Resilience Over Public Holidays
A lot of governments alongside regional and local health services will do their own evaluations on holiday healthcare provision, to help determine what factors play the most significant and relevant roles in potentially increasing risk.
It's not universal; Not all places celebrate the same holidays on a larger scale, not all health services have the same capacity or staffing/logistics, and so on. So independent/regional and national evaluations are all very helpful in sorting this kind of thing out!
Very generally speaking, any large/widely celebrated holidays which are celebrated on a public/national level can increase the risk of injury and therefore increase the pressure on various health services.
There are also sometimes religious, cultural, social, etc. elements to a holiday that might increase overall risk, too-- Like with St. Patrick's Day, public drinking is a staple of the event in most Western nations, which means drinking + general rowdiness + large groups of people = Very likely a crunch on certain health services like A&E/Emergency Department or EMT/Ambulance crews.
But for another example, in England, we have a national church-- The Church of England--which is inherently a Christian institution and therefore Christian holidays are almost all bank holidays.
Which means that many staff will be absent when they otherwise may have been on shift, which decreases available staff overall, and may cause logistical problems from the other side of things (the healthcare side, rather than the patient side). If there are fewer staff around, then delays in care/waiting times may increase, nursing ratios may become an even greater concern, and so on.
Anything that potentially increases higher risk behaviour by the general public and also potentially cause logistical strains on a given health service may then result in a crunch.
tl;dr It can vary a lot, but that's why assessments also vary a lot! :) It depends on all kinds of factors which need to be taken into account in a lot of different ways, regionally, socially, and so on.
I hope that helps! :)
