Easily the funniest thing about Steamboat Willie going into the Pubic Domain is how like 99% of all the things people are putting online because "ha ha now Steamboat Willie is Public Domain!" are things that were completely legal for them to do anyway for the last 95 years.

I have just learned that in addition to Mickey Mouse / Steamboat Mickey being public domain, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, and Felix the Cat will also be public domain in 2024….if they make horror movies on these guys I will die

ya'll are sleeping on the fact that steamboat willie is on a boat out in the middle of nowhere, the ocean is HORRIFYING, ya'll want a spooky mickey? go have him find a underwater ancient horror or something, a tomb filled with millions of mice before him. have a giant squid rock his boat and have him sink while seeing horrors unimaginable, consider the possibilities

Sooo….a version of the mouse has become public domain. I am totally normal about it and have not reawaken the inner Epic Mickey obsessed self I’ve forgotten about over the years. [I am absolutely obsessed and have been drawing multiple public domain rubber hose toons to add to my catalog and develop stories and background for].

So I designed my version taking inspiration from the big pants he sported in kingdom hearts though these aren’t red they’re grey for obvious copyright. For combat he has a stick broom and the wheel he uses both to power/control his steamboat and it’s mech transformation as well. (inspiration taken from Gurren Lagann)

I took inspo from the Australian jumping mice for the mech version of the steamboat. And yeah that’s basically it!

After getting fired, Pooh brings Mickey to the funni lamb cult along with Oswald. Now, they are on cleaning duty!
