I Walked Into The River

The Tree of Shades, fed by a spring deep in the Shivering Isles' underground, will not surrender its secrets to one who has not earned them. The erstwhile Hero of Kvatch and Sheogorath's current grudging Champion has little left to prove and even less to lose.

I wrote this piece for the summerfest prompt "mirror" and am posting the full thing for the free day! it's my take on the doppelganger bit of that one quest in the shivering isles, which always struck me as having a lot of unrealised potential (especially in conjunction with running themes of duality the questline already has). I've had this idea for a long time now and this event finally got me to actually write it out, which was a lot of fun! if you're inclined to check it out, please do - it would give me much joy :)

#jurassic world: camp cretaceous #jwcc #camp cretaceous #jurassic world #the ART on display here???#this sequence...oh I can't believe it took me three tries to fully grasp it #this is TENSION #they hyped up a Dinosaur War #the way these shots contrast the forces of Light against Darkness #the suspenseful angles on our villain dinosaurs #who are also--I might add--all ACTUAL VILLAIN DINOSAURS #and not just because of the Mind Control #it's the Spinosaurus nemesis from JP3 #Toro from Season 1 #Limbo from Season 2 #also a Dimorphodon is there #and Daniel and his flunkies--it's a full Villain Teamup #a League of Dinosaur Doom #up against a ragtag bunch of dinos all rallying around a T. Rex family through pack or herd instincts #also in the middle of all of this is Daniel #humans are factored into this battle too #our heroic kids have to fight in this one #and the villains step forward too...for what greater evil exists in nature than that of man?#indeed what part of nature can claim to be evil besides man?#it's nature and intelligence versus malice and slavery #daniel kon #also the way he straightens his tie...that's what's on his mind #this is business #the way the animation expresses menace and character in all these shots #the building alarm and nervousness

can i ask.how u guys practice ur creativity <3 how u practice ur imagination or like.. how u experiment with ur art, how u come to ideas and how u develop them.<3 pretty please <3

#smthing i have always struggled w.is feeling like i can only draw things that r handed 2 me.#as in.an idea or concept that already exists #chara or conflict that already exists.Scene that alr exists.#and i think it can be soo limiting bc when i have that sort of creative desire but nothing 2 reflect off of it #i feel like im unable to do anything/get anywhere bc im unable to do that mental legwork myself ykwim #like comic artists r SOOO JAW DROP INSPIRING TO MEE bc not only are u envisioning ur own sequences/situations #but u are able to imagine even the most MUNDANE interactions within those scenarios u know #like the transitory panels and the quiet moments and the every day stillness #and i feel like.its not even a poor attempt on my behalf its like.i cant Even attempt it.like my brain is soo empty #and soo static and noiseless that i am like gauhh......#i can practice lines all day long and practice colors and practice anatomy or Whatever bc its something concrete #and its in front of me and i can pry apart the physical technicalities until i understand it better #but my MIND???ABSTRACTION>? #i put a note in this doc many months ago about a scene that would make narrative sense but that i did not want to write #and i have been hoping it would not be necessary #and i have been trying to think my way around it if at all possible #but unfortunately there is no way around it and this scene just has to happen #and further unfortunately two plot threads have decided to converge there #which makes it that much harder to write #but i should take heart: i have a better idea of how this scene will go than i did a week ago #and i think it's also going to flow nicely into the next scene and maybe even create an efficiency for me two scenes down the line #(pep talk: this is the fic reminding me that i can still trust it to solve its own problems even if the solutions feel daunting to execute)#but now i have to write the damn thing #but i'm going to consider today a success if i'm able to just rough it out. dialogue and sequence of events and maybe some description.#baby steps #let's go

...man I've really hit that stage of Old Womanhood where I seriously contemplate and long for novelisations of existing gaming / televised media? :/

#like who cares?? i used to step away from all forms of novelisation as a fanfic reader because...why do the same?#but now i'm like #oh the FRAMING that would be narratively possible; the inner monologues #the addressing of odd pacing issues and sequence problems that gameplay by its nature creates #the additional gapfiller scenes #the glimmers of backstory #the choice of a narrative eye which is a critical lens of the game's narrative eye itself #the layers jerry the layers #the way a close recreation in itself becomes a particular kind of critical dissection #@sarasa-cat *stares at that sending stones excel doc still alive in our shared gdocs*#i think: there's a lot of extremely good adaptations of stories to screen these days->#it's like wanting to do the reverse and take the moral of the above adaptations: it should *not* be the same thing but somehow find a way t #capture core meanings and intents and throw light on the Vibe of it all while being able to be a Different Thing
