This was just last month, and also a favorite assignment where the eyes are everything. A beautiful and talented performer, @Thomasin.McKenzie. From the story: “I realized that acting gives me an incredible opportunity to have my voice heard,” she said. #Hellyeah. I was much too timid to have any sort of voice at her age. Two subjects from a great story that I photographed for @weillcornell about faculty, students, and residents “...who came to the U.S. seeking opportunities unavailable to them in their home countries. Their diverse backgrounds and life experiences have informed their work and enriched the institution—adding to the body of scientific knowledge, and ultimately benefiting patients here and around the world. And their stories embody the ideals of Emma Lazarus’s famous poem The New Colossus; emblazoned inside the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty, it welcomes newcomers with a lamp, lifted “beside the golden door.” Their stories first appeared in Weill Cornell Medicine magazine Vol. 17, No. 2” Really honored to have photographed these people. And another one from the series of portraits shot for @redcrosscanada via @gettyimages! James Shaw is an electrician from Waterloo, Ontario. Since 2010, James has been deployed with the Canadian Red Cross to #Chad, where he did technical work to help set up cholera treatment centre; the #Philippines, where he repaired generators and helped to rebuild infrastructure; and to #Jordan, where he worked with a technical team to help set up electrical and plumbing services for the camp.
