Hanukkah this year, 2024, in comparison, Actually will be on December 25th, beginning at sundown; but it will also last until January 2nd, at sundown!! (So, if you want to place a similar fic around 2024, where they will all be gathered at 'similar' timeframes, this year would be a good year for that timeline-wise.) {However, January 7th specifically will be on a Sunday, which is too late for Shabbat, as Shabbat ends at sundown on Saturdays.} You can still place a Shabbat meal around the 5th~6th though!

For future dates, you can check this link too! Please always check Hebrew calender dates first (and double-check to be sure!!) before attempting to write a Jewish holiday or Jewish character into any of your fic/worldbuilding universes, in order to portray us with genuine respect!!

Since Russians celebrate Christmas on January 7th, I always assumed one of the Russian Digidestined was Jewish and that dinner we saw the main three having was a Shabbat dinner, or maybe one of them had the others over for a quaint little Hanukkah dinner post Digimon crisis.

So far Lizmet (@/elecmon) and I just tried to guess some and:

The orange-brownish-red eyes at the corner might be a Caprimon. (using the Toei version of it so you can notice it could be a Caprimon) Caprimon can be part of a Centalmon line if i remember correctly? So I suspect this might be Maria's partner.

The round green ones might be a Pyocomon.

Pyocomon is very known for being the baby form for Sora's Piyomon.

BUT, It could work for Tatum's Airdramon too imo.

There's no round blue eyes baby digi so far (the ones between supposed PetitMeramon and supposed Pyocomon), so I believe it's a YukiAgumon/SnowAgumon. And it might be Steve's partner because...

EDIT: PUKAMON HAS ROUND BLUE EYES AND MATCHES WITH THE MYSTERIOUS ONES IN THE BUSH. But still fair game for YukiAgumon → Yukidarumon so yeah. Nothing changes here.

Which leaves us with... what mon those other blue eyes belong to for Lou's Tortomon partner. 🤨🤔

Frigimon (Yukidarumon); Steve calls it "Frigimon" when at home: So, "That" one says they made us - or more like, 'you' - a Chosen to "befriend" "that other one"... Steve, low laughing under breath: "It" may have "said" that, but it's definitely wrong. Frigimon: Oh? You seem to have a strong feeling about this... (but it's expected of my partner). Steve, voice returning to normal 'cheery' tone: The thing it doesn't know is that I initially messaged Koushiro of my own volition. Frigimon: But it claims it 'made' you all do that... Steve: And again, it's definitely wrong... because it also doesn't know - or even understand why - how Koushiro initially reacted to me, much less the others in our group. Frigimon: Oh?? (Curious) (Tell Me More, Steve) Steve, swivelling around in chair: Koushiro rambled and info-dumped about different types of systems and coding for a solid ten or so messages back-and-forth before I finally clued Koushiro in more deliberately that I knew about "you all". STEVE: AND, at the start, Koushiro was hesitant to actually talk more to us about it all, even though we made it clear we all mostly knew since "that battle". Frigimon: But Koushiro came around because you were persistent? Steve, laughing: It's not so much "persistence" as "something that naturally fell into place" once I got more of a 'feel' of what Koushiro was like. Koushiro sounds extremely analytical on the 'Net, but apparently is also super formal in person, just in ...different ways. Frigimon: So, you're saying you didn't "pursue" Koushiro but couldn't the "naturally falling into place" still mean-- Steve, shaking head: No, not that either. Steve: Because I also initially wasn't sure if Koushiro actually wanted to be my "friend". Frigimon: ... Steve, clasping hands: Even if it could do everything that 'new' Chosen said, it doesn't understand that these aren't things you can "force". And even if it could, I wouldn't acknowledge it, because it's not a part of my culture... So it's not relevant to me. Frigimon, hmmng: The other monsters "like that" must really dislike us, then. Steve, quirking eyebrow with a grin: "Us"? Frigimon: Well, I don't like those notions, either. I can't really imagine myself being partnered to anyone not you, nor for any other "reason". Steve: ... Steve, quietly: {Thanks.} Frigimon: ... (After all, it is us.)

2012 "The Beginning" Timeline Bonus!:

{Steve is still seen+Present, with Frigimon [Yukidarumon] in the background, amongst other Chosen Ones, from the New York Chosen group!!} (You can tell it's Steve because of the glasses and because of Yukidarumon's presence, even if the hair colors and tones have been slightly modified.) In this version, Steve's hair color appears a more dirty Blond or honey/more Brown, eyes might be closer to Hazel if not Brown/Black.

In 2012 Hanukkah began at sunset on Saturday, December 8, and ended at nightfall on Monday, December 17! Since "The Beginning" is taking place on February 29, 2012, There's a bit to go until Hanukkah/Xmas, but we can determine Steve would be celebrating Chanukah quite a bit before December 25th in the event Chosen Children reunited around the world!! Please remember these details if you are writing about the 02 Chosen Children + "Adventure" groups in general, including having them Interact with International and the New York/U.S. Chosen group, especially if it's during the same year as "2012"'s timeframe, and especially, if you want to portray Jewish American Chosen respectfully!!

For reference, in 2013, the following year, (Say you have the Chosen meet the next year in your story), Chanukah began on Wednesday, 27 November 2013 and ended on Thursday, 5 December 2013 . That's starting days away from December (and ending days away from Xmas) even then!! The next year it actually fell during December 25th (and not ending the night before, the 24th, like in 2015) was in 2017!!

Notes: In the books released post-series production and 02's conclusion, Steve was revealed to be the very first confirmed Jewish American Chosen Child, a significant step forward for the Digimon franchise, as it acknowledged the Jewish community living in real-world America.

Because Steve is Jewish, Steve would have been personally celebrating Hanukkah that year, not Christmas (hence I left out the last subtitle referencing Christmas to prevent confusion).

Chanukah in 2002, when 02 officially takes place, however, was November 29th ~ December 7th, and these scenes took place closer to Dec. 25th (early 3 A.M.). But that doesn't mean Steve, as a Jewish American, wouldn’t have noted Hanukkah (or Chanukah) at all earlier that year, and it’s good to note that when we're discussing potentials of 02′s “real-world based” “timeline”!

(Basically, what Steve is doing here is joining in on, via being invited by being a Chosen Child who is able and willing to help, an Interfaith gathering of individuals that was originally meant to simply send corrupted by virus Digimon back into the Digital World, and was not actually a "holiday" focused gathering initially!) :) {If Steve joins them after the fact is unknown, but either way, Steve would have to be invited and it would have to be acknowledged that Steve as an individual does not celebrate Christmas religiously.}

In the scenes above, Steve is one of only two U.S. Chosen that are also given spoken lines to personally thank and acknowledge Daisuke Motomiya's help (along with the rest, but also specifying Daisuke). {Michael aside, as even Michael doesn't get to comment verbally.}

My Commentary: Steve was confirmed by Toei to be a Jew in the “Digimon Memorial Book”, published after 02 had ended. However, It is important to remember that Steve would likely not be celebrating “only” Inter-faith X-mas here (if Steve did join in), but ALSO Hanukkah / Chanukah earlier in the month and previous month. Chanukah in 2002, however, was November 29th ~ December 7th, and these scenes took place closer to December 25th. But that doesn’t mean Steve wouldn’t have noted Chanukah at all earlier that year, and it’s good to note that when we’re discussing 02′s “real-world based” “timeline”!

Tatum was also confirmed to be Irish-American in the Memorial Book. She is partnered to an Airdramon.

#TheBeginning Spoilers #TheBeginningSpoilers (Kind Of) (More like commentary but)

So it looks like Chanukah 2012 was actually in December 8th~16th in the year 2012 (literally looked that up again just now, I also remember actually being ON this site for around it too...) and in "The Beginning" (02 upcoming movie) materials we pretty much have it confirmed it takes place in Winter 2012... possibly this could be sometime by December depending on timeline. (Adventure series have often had stories taking place and ending around or in December before, including 02's initial run itself, along with Tri - Yes, Tri canonically ends Dec. 2015, the date is on Takeru's letter.)

(So Chanukah began on a Saturday at sundown that year {2012}, and ended on a Sunday evening, too but that doesn't mean things CAN'T be happening in-between...) {A Tuesday DOES also fall in between those dates}

And we DID have International Chosen previewed already (in the opening scenes of the DigiFes 2022 preview) {Steve has yet to show but if Steve DID...}

So all I'm SAYING is. If Toei remembers "Steve" exists And Is Canonically A Jew and includes a Steve & Frigimon {Yukidarumon} cameo again

We'd better see Steve celebrating Chanukah TOO, TOEI

and not 'just' Inter-faith Xmas TM. (Because it would be Inter-faith Xmas for Steve otherwise, and I don't know which people in Adv~02~Kizuna fandom need to hear that if Steve's included anywhere, but yeah...)
