“First couple weeks on the job weren’t too shabby,” Trevor muttered to himself as he walked down the hallway into the kitchen.
When you walked into the area, the first thing you would see would be the seating area; booths and tables, with a row of taller chairs along the giant window wall. Past the seating area was something resembling a cash register area where orders were taken--just without the cash register, because no one in the safe house would ever have to pay for food. A small chalkboard sign showed meal options that the patients could choose from. Of course, if they wanted to change anything or request something different they could. The menu was just there to give suggestions in order to break up the monotony of “I order the same thing every day.” Next to the cash register was a large coffee shop getup like you’d see in any public coffee shop.
Behind that was a large kitchen that stretched at least 60 feet backward with ovens and stovetops along one wall, sinks & a dishwasher in the back, a large island that functioned as a prep space in the middle, and a large walk-in refrigerator and freezer on the other side. Open shelves lined the walls near the fridge and freezer. Most of the ingredients & seasonings that were frequently used sat on a shelf next to the stove tops, with utensils hanging from hooks underneath it.
He walked over to the sink and started washing the few dirty dishes that were left from the night before. Someone must have had a midnight snack, he thought. The patients & other staff would start waking up soon, and it was Trevor’s job to get the food ready as soon as they wanted some.

the brunette sat in her bed, a waste bin not far for when her body decided it couldn’t handle the food she’d just eaten. she’d been stuck there the past few days, her disease acting up and leaving her in more pain than she’d like to admit. she hated it. she hated being stuck in her stupid bed. she hated her only interaction being the nurses. that hatred almost made the familiar face at her door even better. “i haven’t seen you in thirty two years!” she smiled, her eyes drooping slightly as she winced, moving over and making room on her bed. “wanna come sit, or are you just going to stand there and stare at me?”
