From the exhibition notes:

Turbeville’s artistic signature went beyond the photographic process. She continued her experiments in the darkroom in her studio, where the prints were torn, scratched, burnt or taped. Using this process she gave brand new prints a patina, which made the works appear to come from a different age. ‘I destroy the image after I’ve made it,’ she herself said. ’The idea of disintegration is really the core of my work.’

🏈 Reading Rockets Football Today at 10:15AM

The Reading Rockets varsity football team will play their final game of the season this morning at 10:15AM. The Stoneham Spartans will be hosting the Reading Rockets at Stoneham High School, 149 Franklin Street for the annual Thanksgiving game. The Rockets are currently (3-7) on the season and the Spartans are (6-5). The RMHS band will also be performing their Division 1 State Championship…

THE HANDS RESIST HIM (1972) by BILL STONEHAM

It's said that this painting is cursed. In FEBRUARY 2000, it showed up on EBAY, and the seller who found it said that the kids in the painting would come to life at night. They said that the seller put a camera in the painting and saw the boy crawl out of it. Of course, there's no proof of this.

The painting shows a boy and a doll infront of a glass-paneled door, with numerous hands pressing against it. STONEHAM states that the boy is derived from a photograph of him at the age of five.

The opening of the door symbolizes the transition from the waking world to the realm of imagination and fantasy, and the doll acts as a guide to guide the boy through this transition. Each of the titular hands symbolizes an alternative life or potential life.

Threw a basic cutout-filter over some famously disturbing art pieces and man...you can really tell how striking details are just through the simplified edges.

No "Saturn Devouring his Son" kids, because the first piece is already a Francisco Goya. But a cookie, a bushel and a peck for the people who can name each painting without googling!
