Small Long Quiet headcanon:

Whenever a new voice appears, in specific spots, Long Quiet has a new, coloured feather! Can be one or multiple, depending on amount of voices. Those feathers are indicators of what voice appears and what they mostly affect

Like, for Stubborn, his feathers are red, and appear on the forearms, and a bit on the back of the hands. For Smitten, the feathers are pink and appear on the chest, usually around the heart, ect

If, there's multiple voices who's feathers appear on same body part, like Skeptic and Contrarian, both having their feathers appearing on the head, there will be one feather for each voice, on that body part, so, in that case, on one side, there's dark blue-purple feather for Contrarian and dark blue for Skeptic and so on. All feathers, depending on the voice, will also have different shapes, lengths and textures

So, the more voices, the more colourful and interesting Long Quiet gets :33

I think what's really interesting about a Swap AU for Slay the Princess is that there are countless ways one can approach this AU.

You could swap the Princess and Player's roles entirely, with the Narrator ordering the Shifting Mound to slay the Long Quiet. In this scenario, the Narrator could have a different motive, such as instead of wanting stillness to prevent death in the universe, he wants change.

Alternatively, you could keep the roles of the the Long Quiet and the Shifting Mound as they are, but the Player is the Shifting Mound and the Princess is the Long Quiet instead. So, in this version, maybe we could have a human version of the Player (I guess he's the Prince here?) and a bird monster version of the Princess. Orrr you could still keep their current appearances (all of the fanart of bird boi being chained up in a basement is pretty funny).

You could even choose if you want to swap the Voices or not. The Voices could remain as voices in the Princess' head or they could be a swap equivalent of the Shifting Mound's princesses. It would be interesting to see monstrous, scary versions of the Voices.

The Voice of the Hunted, a beast trying to protect its heart from danger, represented here as a crosshair.

The Voice of the Smitten, the knife wound letting loose lovely streams of swirling bodily juices into the air.

The Voice of the Cold, dark, and angular. Something completely unafraid to kill.

The Voice of the Skeptic, attempting to fly, tearing himself away from chains and what looks like his own body.

The Voice of the Paranoid, Frantic and multi-eyed, clutching at a wound.

The Voice of the Contrarian, flying in stark contrast to the others, glowing instead of secluded, a mischievous fairy or will o' the wisp, instead of a grotesque figure.

The Voice of the Broken, shattered and leaking. A humanoid figure is no longer recognizable.

The Voice of the Stubborn, Fiery eyes, and big meaty claws. The brushwork is chaotic.

The Voice of the Cheated, smoke leaking from puncture wounds still embedded within him. He's holding a cigar, too; probably where all the smoke is coming from.

The Voice of the Opportunist, carrying multiple masks on his person, and wielding a poorly concealed knife.

And finally (for now) The Long Quiet itself, the night sky, swirling sigils blurred in the dark.

I’m ace with very little clue what attraction is all about (only feel some form of aesthetic attraction), so I can’t really tell lol

But I guess I can understand, I mean– just look at him!! Just a charming little fellow you can totally trust with your credit card!! :D

the trauma and fears all (my versions of) the voices get;

hero - hates mirrors. can't stand his reflection. panics when he sees himself.

paranoid - ommetaphobia. fear of eyes, staring. total enderman mode; he can and will stare at you but the moment you stare back, he's probably gonna throw something at you.

cold - lower sense of self-preservation. casually loses limbs because he doesnt care to avoid danger. no particular fears, but he probably needs white noise to sleep

stubborn - this ones got abandonment issues. i dont know how he got them but damn is it evident

opportunist - anything to do with his back is off-limits. he will panic if someone is within reach out of his field of vision

contrarian - acrophobia, fear of heights. the stairs, the walls, the fury's huge ass room. he'd probably get into more trouble from a high viewpoint, but since he can't fly, he could never get used to it.

skeptic - fearing water and swimming. can't go ankle-deep without a sense of panic.

broken - claustrophobia, he cannot stand being in small or crowded spaces. having gotten used to big cabins and complaining at more than two additional voices

smitten - yknow i dont think he got much outside of a constant need for physical affection

hunted - irrationally afraid of others' heartbeats. hates hearing them, makes him sick. i think a response he would have is losing feeling in his legs, like when they got bitten tf off

cheated - avoidance issues. he'll get scared others are avoiding him, and he'll isolate. youd think blades and stuff but hed probably own the most knives out of anyone
