if smitten and cold didnt have an antagonistic relationship (or maybe even when theyre not in good terms?), i think they would go into an infinite loop of "what do you want?" "idk, anything" when ordering food. smitten is a people pleaser so he would order what he thinks cold wants but cold is that type of person who just cant be bothered with choices. anything goes, as long as its something. a burger isnt any different from chicken, its still food.

so Obviously, the solution is to order two of everything in the face of such uncertainty. and bc smitten wants to cover all his bases in case cold doesnt want what he ordered.

so smitten asks, "do you like it?" and cold always answers, "its food," much to his dismay.

ive seen the blade be theorized to symbolize control and trust so its absence in wraith could symbolize our lack of control and her loss of trust in us (though its interesting that we can still gain enough will to throw ourselves into the basement).

in moc, the blade is present until it vanishes into the pit where the princess lies. i think this represents the lost opportunity for "control" (this doesnt feel like the right word) that turning around wouldve given us. it represents the illusion of will as youre locked into freeing her the moment you stepped forward

does anyone has an idea symbolism-wise why there simply isn't a blade in the wraith? even in moc it is there, we can't grab it but it is seen, in the wraith it just, isn't there, and it has to have an obvious meaning but i can't think of why

nah its ok im relatively new to this fandom too :) i like to think of the narrator as the mirror ^__^ he cant see the mirror the voices always talk about bc he Is the mirror so he cant see himself like others see him.

theres basically nothing backing up my belief though LMAO hell, its practically debunked imo. when i first got to the end, i saw the crow in the mirror move and i was like "?? but we arent talking, hes talking" and because its a Mirror, i just assumed that he was using our likeness to talk to us. if the crow we see on the mirror is us, then he must be the mirror. the projector, rather than the projection.

mind you, this was way before pristine cut. still, thinking of the narrator as the crow on the other side of the mirror (wouldnt that just be glass then?) wouldve been less of a logical leap though ngl LOL

if i counted correctly, there are eleven shards of the mirror that break when you say something to him, in addition to the first break that happens when you ask him what he is. that's the number of voices you can get, and i think the first break is for yourself. it kind of ties into the fact that the spectre describes the voices as "scattered pieces of glass"
