what bothers me about Rhaenyra's boys being bastards is not the fact that they are not Laenor's, or the fact that rhaenyra had an extramarital affair, honestly, good for her.

no, it's the fact that by having the strong boys and them being obvious bastards, she put not only her own life and harwin's at risk - she put her children's lives at risk as well.

harwin and rhaenyra are both consenting adults, aware of the risks of their affair. they AGREED to put their lives in danger to be with each other - but their sons didn't.

the strong boys were born with targets on their backs, they will always be the subject of gossip and mockery. their claims will always be challenged, they'll never be able to live in peace and security. plus, by giving birth to legitimate sons rhaenyra made things even more messy for them (ironically, it's exactly what viserys did to her by having sons with alicent). even if rhaenyra were to somehow become queen, jace will be forced to kill\fight daemon's sons to become king after her.

Imagine if Harwin raised all the kids. Jace, Luke, Aegon, Heleana, Aemond, Daeron in their early years (before the birth of Joffrey) and that ended up creating a strong family. Yeah yeah I know not subtle, but just imagine. I mean I always think the reason Aegon and Aemond are so fixated on the whole strong thing is (other than Alicent filling their ears - no hate for her though please) because here is this man who cannot even openly proclaim those kids as his own and yet he loves them so much. It is so obvious in Harwin's every interaction with Jace and Luke while Viserys sits around like the deadbeat pos he is. There is obviously some jealousy towards the 'bastards' having this amazing father who loves them despite knowing they may never even call him father openly. But imagine if Harwin could have raised them all together.. oh what a lovely thought. Aegon would have been a clingy child while Jace would shoulder him away from their dad because his nephew does NOT share. I can imagine Aegon sneaking to follow Harwin to Harenhall because he wants to be free from the shit of the red keep while Jace looks on in jealousy because why the fuck does his uncle get to go to his dad's house?! And having Harwin around would have given Aegon an actual non-toxic male figure who could have taught him better values. Luke and Aemond wouldn't have any issues because Harwin doesn't die in my delusional world and also Aemond gets love and patience and support and doesnt attach his entire identity on a dragon. Luke doesn't develop that Alicent like anxiety though a bit of it might always linger. Ugh I have SO MANY thoughts about this..

Sometimes I scroll through Pinterest and just get hit with ideas for the Strong boys. Like imaging if they had had vitiligo and their hair and slightly tanned skin grows paler and paler. Like the rumours of their birth and Rhaenyra own shock because even she thought they were Ser Harwins but this is something incredibly new that has never been seen before and the royal Court can only look at the 'common looking' boys slowly start to look other and strange and more Valyrian.

Just read a magnificent fan fic about Aemond crowned king and has Luke as his queen, they are talking about compensation to Harrenhal and tour to the realm, I can’t remember whether Harrenhal still belongs to the Strongs or not but it’s funny to imagine them visiting there as king and queen.
