High mannered, responsible and empathic. Nice nice nice! We’re good for tomorrow. Anyway, it’s Talk Like a Pirate Day! Everyone in this household loves talk like a pirate day. Omar and Roxana are childish enough to adore it as much as the kids and Harrison just likes gabbing. Anyway, now everyone can go and volunteer together! Hooray!

Let’s see...Omar wants to mentor a kid and helping with homework would count for that. Let’s go with Emile. She’s the lazy one after all and he sorta wants to whip her into responsible shape. And actual shape but that’s for teen-dom. And now it’s just a lotta being social and chatting with each other. Because it’s talk like a pirate day and ya gotta talk first!

Ohp, Harrison asked for advice. Okay, don’t lower responsibility, empathy or OH what was the last one!? Manners! Very important that one. Picked the choice that went for manners up and emotional control down. And with some chatter, Harrison, Omar, and Roxana now have the pirate tradition finished. Hooray.

Ohohoho! One of the people that Roxana dislikes and wants to make an enemy out of is walking down the street! And so we shall! Become enemies that is. Next is the thirst management. I bet all of these plasma packs do pile up but eh. Selena is on the computer, working on that typing game for her aspiration. Ah. Omar still needs to mentor a kid, thanks to not being actually able to help with homework thanks to having low relationships with the kids. Hey Harrison! It’s time to work out! Let’s see. Emile wants to watch a movie, she does so and now she’s hungry. And has the whim for pizza! ...alas pizza is not showing up. I see a stall for spring seasonal food at least. We can order off of that! Cupcake time! And then snoozing for her. Omar wants to make a drawing, can easily do. Harrison...to chat with Moria Fryes some more. Can also do that. Right, now we travel over to the Fyres household! To say hi to Moria! But then my eyes are drawn over to someone else.

Morgan Fyres was one of Harrison’s flings way back when she was still a teen. It’s one of the reasons I’m actually bringing him fully up into Young Adult-hood. Because I see that two potentially interesting love interests, her and Cassandra Goth, are both young adults and I want to play around with that some. Anyway, I’d figure it’s time to befriend Moria some more so I go and set those two up on a chess table. And now it’s time for pure social spam as I try to actually befriend her. Of which, we do so! Next whims are to gain that promotion and to flirt with a fellow teen. ...on the one hand I would continue with these solo adventures with Harrison. On the other hand, birthday part at 6PM. Granted it’s 11AM now. We have time. Annnd I brought over the wrong boy to flirt with. Time to bring the right boy over. Alright, flirtation done. NOW I should probably head back home. Because I’m going to have to deal with thirst management anyway and I want that done before the party.

Well, first thing that catches my eye is the egg hunt tradition for my Spring Day holiday that's also today. Don’t know if I can do the Flower Bunny but I can do that one at least. Anyway, it’s now party time! I have no goals so I can do whatever I wish!

So turns out, a good way to gather everyone at a party is to just open presents with every guest watching you. Nice! He only got three gifts. A gnome, a carrot and a turquoise. Eh, not great but ah well. And now Harrison is a Young Adult! I had thought of his trait a long while ago. He’s the Ambitious type! Got that drive to succeed! And thus does everyone just hang out for a bit. Humorously, all the vampires are glum thanks to all of the broken relationships because they hiss so much. Alas! Anyway, the true food for vampires shall be made. A whole bunch of plasma fruit salad! And on that note, we end our time with these vampires. THANK. GOD. But first!

An Annual Return to My Bug-loving Roots

It’s that time of year again when one of my favorite beetles, Megacyllene robiniae (Forster), is starting to appear. Called the “locust borer” due to its larva’s habit of feeding in the living wood of black locust trees, it is one of the last species of long-horned beetle (family Cerambycidae) to emerge in late summer. Adults can be found feeding on the flowers of goldenrod, starting around late August and persisting in the field well into October. The beautiful yellow and black patterned beetles are strikingly colored, but can be quite cryptic when resting on the flowers of goldenrod, which shares the same shade of yellow as the beetle. As long as a larval host source is nearby, a stroll in a field of goldenrod is sure to produce a few adults, boldly feeding on pollen in broad daylight, yet still difficult to visually sort out from the background of the flowers which they visit.

Megacyllene is a genus of Cerambycidae that elicits as much sentimental as scientific interest for me, because it was one of the first long-horned beetles I encountered as a kid. I can still remember coming home from school in the early autumn and heading out into a large field of goldenrod behind my Ohio home to look for the beetles. The only other species of Megacyllene present in Ohio and Pennsylvania is Megacyllene caryae (Gahan) – the “painted hickory borer.” Contrary to M. robiniae - it is one of the earliest cerambycids to emerge in late April to early May, the adults having eclosed in the fall and remaining in their pupal cells until spring. I vividly remember my grandfather bringing home a load of hickory firewood one January, unaware that it was infested with the beetles. Upon splitting a log, he found the adults in their pupal cells awaiting the Spring warmth to emerge. He and I together split those logs smaller and smaller looking for more specimens. We ended up with a nice series of beetles and a bunch of wood whittled down to kindling size!

Monochamus notatus (Drury) is a spectacular species of long-horned beetle, common in Pennsylvania in stands of white pine. The larva feeds under the bark of dying or dead pine and its feeding can be heard as a high-pitched rasping sound as far as 20 feet from the tree. This behavior has earned the species the common name of “pine sawyer” – the noise resembling the sound of an old-fashioned two-man crosscut saw raking back and forth through a log.

When I was thirteen, while camping at Mohican State Park in north-central Ohio with my family, I was sitting at a picnic table eating lunch. Suddenly, a large male M. notatus came wafting through the campsite, its lengthy antennae trailing behind it, and looking about the size of a small bird to my young bug-enthusiast eyes. I dropped my food, jumped from the table, grabbed my net, and swept the beast out of the air – the first cerambycid beetle that I ever collected! I still have that specimen 46 years later and I attribute it with starting me on the road to specializing on the family Cerambycidae – now my strongest area of taxonomic expertise. I have seen millions of specimens of long-horned beetles from all around the globe during my career, but that one specimen generates more sentiment than the rest combined – I can still smell the pine scent in the air on that day I caught it.

Collecting insects as a kid was the gateway into an amazing world of diversity, and as it turned out, the foundation of what would become my career and lifelong passion. When I look at specimens I caught in those early years, they produce a flood of memories – of specimens caught and of those that got away; of woods where I memorized every fallen log and patch of flowers; of the copy of Josef Knull’s 1946 book “The Long-horned Beetles of Ohio,” with its pages worn and every word read over and over again a thousand times; even the long bike rides, carrying my net and jars out to areas remote from my home in search of “wild” areas in which to hunt for beetles. The specimens serve as little time machines – carrying me back to my childhood and the dawn of my interest in entomology. Going into the field now is more sophisticated, and structured, and planned – better gear, GPS units to record localities, a lifetime of experience to rely upon – not to mention a car that can take me farther afield. But those days of simple exploration, where nearly every venture outdoors uncovered some new wonder, will always be some of my most cherished memories – and those beetles on pins will always be the vehicles that carry me back to that wondrous time in my life.

McHugh's brace helps Morton thump Caldwell's Partick

Bob McHugh scored twice as Morton came back from behind to ensure Gary Caldwell suffered his third defeat in three games as Partick Thistle boss.

Brice Ntambwe’s headed Thistle in front but Gary Oliver equalised.

Morton took the lead when McHugh headed in Jack Iredale’s cross, before Iredale himself squeezed in the third.

McHugh slotted a fine individual goal to make it four, then Michael Tidser’s speculative strike from 30 yards found the bottom right-hand corner.

Morton have now won three of their last four matches under Jonatan Johansson, while Partick Thistle slip to six successive defeats.

Greenock Morton Jonatan Johansson: “Bob McHugh’s been fantastic and it’s a shame he didn’t get his hat-trick. He works so hard and he’s intelligent. His first goal was excellent.

“He helps the midfield defensively and in the box, if you can get the ball to him, he’s dangerous.”

The clubs and players letters should be through their letter boxes by now so no harm in listing the 36 candidates picked by the Scottish Amateur FA Select manager Bruce McNaught to go public.

The players, spread across the country will assemble at Dalziel Park for 11.15am on Sunday 29th October 2017 prior to the trial match that will kick off time 1.00pm.

It’s another busy season again for Bruce and his management team with early preparations for the first stage of the U.E.F.A Regions to consider as well as the two international games going into the new year.

This is not forgetting that a fair number of players in the squad will also be involved in the Inter League Trophy Competition, with 10 Leagues / Associations involved in the draw that was made last night at the Executive & Finance meeting.

The International Committee will also meet soon, their agenda will also include navigating the tight schedule and interest of the players and clubs as the Scottish Amateur Cup and District Cup competitions warm-up.

Back to the trial match, full coverage of the event will be posted on the Scottish Amateur FA Website and Social Media Platforms, but support on the day will be welcome.

I’m going to refresh those whims and then have him focus on Harrison. ...the whims were to leave a note on the family bulliten board and become enemies with the person he disliked. -shrug- Emilie is up and at em and needs food, and it’s an hour until work and school. Let’s just wait out the time until we head back into work with Omar.

And here we go! Perhaps today, we might get that final surgery requirement. ...if I was mean, I would perform surgery on a patient that might not need it...but eh, let’s try to be a good doctor. WOAH, there we go! We got a guy who collapsed right at the front door. And he needs emergency surgery! There we go! And hey, the patient we’ve been working on also needed surgery. Nice! Finally! He’s got that promotion! And is now a specialist! Good for Omar.

Oooh, Roxana, while I did manage to queue and get her the plasma fruit salad she needed, she also just ran out and drank from a passing sim. Hee. Now she’s super-tense about drinking from others.  MAN. I keep forgetting about Emilie and the making-friends-at-school thing! Now it’s 8PM and I bet there would only be teens at the park at this time. Doing their teen hangout thing. Ah well, both parents have whims regarding kids so, I decided to have both of them lecture their kids about manners. They’re neat sims, they’d care about this sort of thing. And now the kids are asleep. I decide to have the parents chat about the struggles of parenting...and the struggles of being a vampire. But thankfully Omar has a very high logic and can logic away the stress of drinking from a random sim. And she has low fun so uh, let’s have a woohoo in the shower.

Harrison wants to meet someone new so lets see if any teens are hanging around the park at the moment. But if not, we’ll bring someone along because he needs to drink! Hmm. The Alluring Visage means he’s low on vampire energy now. Meaning he needs to sleep. But we just got here! But I guess we can go right back home.. because it’s pretty much time for-

Mack Newman in the Newman hosuehold has died. Mack tried to make cereal but it burst into flames.

Let’s see, it’s early in the morning, nothing much to do. The kids sleep schedule is all kinds of messed up but alas. Let’s make sure I actually remember to set Emile to make friends at school. Omar’s got work at 9 until 7pm. So that leaves Roxana alone to do her work. And we got a biography about a dude who very much wants someone to write about him. That’ll do. Huh, and evidently she’s excited about the project at least. So a drink break and then we head back to work. Annnd she’s sick. Stuffed up nose, it seems. Well, what is the recommendations, internet? Taking a steamy shower! Annd hey, it worked! Back to writing she goes! Kids are back from school and boy, are they tired! But Roxana wants them to volunteer with her and so what she wants, she gets!

Let’s see. Omar does want a promotion, again. Could think about just having him visit a library for a late-night study instead. Since hey, that does also work, in theory, for a doctor. You gotta research your medical stuff! Oh hey, we actually met a scientist, since we’re at Strangerville. There would be a scientist/doctor solidarity, wouldn’t there? Let’s play a game of chess, get the know the guy a little and then head home.

Home again, and Omar wants to eat some popcorn. It’ll go poorly but we can attempt to have some. Meanwhile Harrison wants another promotion. Which, fine and all but I guess let’s work on your charisma skill. Selena’s hungry and Emile, oof! Bladder failure! ...and Roxana’s whim didn’t clear because we left in the middle of it. Fair enough, I suppose! Also I am trying to have Omar mend his relationship with Selena but alas! She just thinks he’s creepy with that weird hissing all the time! Ah well. Anyway it’s time for-

Right, we’re back in the Stuart-Waddell household. Everyone is at work or school except Roxana, who’s thirsty. And I have an idea. I’m going across the street to our neighbors home! We’re visiting Joaquin Le Chien! Oh huh, evidently we don’t have a relationship with him. But we can get around that! I’ve purchased a perk that allows her to bypass not being able to go into a home. Oh, seems I can’t ask him to drink his blood. Ah well. Visit denied! Time to go for the next young adult on our social list! Curtis Koenig! To the Delgato’s! Successful ask for blood given. Nice. And now I can do her whim, which is just eating some snacks. Also easily done. Next one that popped up was to become playful and that’s now finally also easily done! Let’s just watch a comedy on the tv shall we? And now, we head back home. She needs a plasma fruit salad as well to munch on with her thirst.

Hmm. Next I would do another Freelance work for Roxana but eh, the highest paying job is the same thing as the last time, writing about family biographies. And the only other one would be writing a mystery book for a publishing firm which...we can do that ourself under our own name. Not that she’d gain fame for it, she’s not doing that, but she would gain her own royalties. So let’s just continue writing what she was working on, a basic children’s book.

Kids and Chaim are back from school and work! And somehow Emilie managed to make it to the second stage of her aspiration. Nice. Now she wants to make a bff, buuuuut, we have one and I don’t want her to make another. We’re going to use the complete current milestone cheat to leap on up to the next stage. Let’s see, next person to focus on is...Selena who’s aspiration requires her to be playful before playing on a jungle gym. To the tv to watch a comedy! And Omar is supremely thirsty. Time to have him hang out on the street and see if he attacks someone! Dang. He just goes for his pouch of blood. And now Selena’s finally playful. Let’s head on over to the park with her sister!

And stage of Selena’s aspiration is complete. We seem to be getting lots of teens on lot and not any adults so let’s call up Tamarra for Emille to befriend. ...which we can do at our home! Come on, Tamarra! Let’s go home! Took a lot of chatter but she did gain that friendship. Nice! Onto Roxanna and her whim is…to go to the park. Whim even specifically points out having picnics so let’s go pack in some plasma fruit salad and have a quick outing as a family. And by family, I mean Harrison, Roxana and Omar. And so we have a small picnic, and now for a bout of childish whimsy for Roxana and Omar, as they swing on the swing set. Harrison is just going home. Annnd the two are still thirsty. Alas. It’s probably his friendships with Brent and Moria that have kept Chaim from getting culled. Outside of the hand of death being merciful.

Oooh, now he had the tense moodlet of wanting to be outside but is also being burned alive while doing so. Welp. Being a vampire is going to be fun for him. Expect...the loving outdoors buff seems to be negating it!? What?

Back at the Stuart-Waddell household! Today is a day for all the kids to head off to school. So I’m just going to let them vibe for the hour until school. Roxana is feeling sad thanks to her hurt sentiment about losing her relationship with Selena and Omar is perfectly fine. ...though I don’t like either of the whims he has. It’s getting a promotion for a career he can’t advance expect in job stages and trying for a baby with his infertile wife. New whims are to complete and aspiration goal, also not really achievable, and to travel to the park. Doable! Though it has been a bit since Roxana did some freelance work, I don’t really feel the pressure to do so. Also I am having Roxana linger by herself for a bit, since she has a whim to become playful and I finally have the timers low on her romantic moodlets for being around Omar to do so. Annnd now she’s sad again. Dang it. Welp, let’s just go to to the park after a cry. Maybe that’ll help.

To the park! And I had Roxana bring along a good friend of hers, Miko Ojo. For she needs to drink and it’ll be muuuuuch easier to hopefully drink from someone who’s a better friend of hers. Next things next, I want to spend some time with Harrison. And he wants to meet someone new! To the park! Where the teens do their late-night hangouts! ...thanks for walking to the mirror and researching debate to remind me that I need to do my usual university preperations by getting research and debate up to 3. We’re back at the Stuart-Waddell household! Let’s see. Roxana is thirsty, to the fruit salads with ye. Omar wants to get a promotion but there’s nothing really I can do about that. -shrug- Romantic mood so I guess I’ll stick him near Roxana. Harrison wants to make money and oh yeah! I was going to have him busk for tips but alas and alack! Also I finally thought to have a kid have the flirty cookies and they just get a standard nice food moodlet. Dang. Meanwhile, Omar and Roxana are going to have some...private time before we and Omar head off to work for the day.

Right, let’s see if we get any sick adults this time! We got two! Baako Jang and another random sim. Annnd it looks as if Baako has an actual serious ailment. SWEET! And we got Lilly Feng in line. I wonder if her ailment, which I can just pinpoint immediately as the one that gives a strong playful moodlet, is also a surgicial treatment. Ah, it’s just medicine. Alas. Ah well. Let manage our vampires thirst levels first and then see what everyone wants to do! Oh! I should have Harrison apply for university scholarships to start. Let’s see. Another day in the Stuart-Waddell household. And oh no. It’s a weekend and no one has work. Ohhhhhh boy oh boy. Let’s see. Omar wants to volunteer again and Harrison wants to make money. But first! I remembered I wanted to do something! I wanted Harrison to go and set up his birthday party! Which humorously enough to me, will fall on Spring Day. This means I can’t make it a goaled event though. But ah well, it’ll be a party! And all the kids have woken up so it’ll be a volunteer time for everyone!

Hmm. You know what? Roxana is childish. She knows kids media. She would have an opinion! -double checks wiki for voidcritter descriptions- Hmm. One’s an ultra-aggressive narwhal-like figure that will fight and one just wants to eat cars. The Articorn is the strongest, as it has the will and tenacity to fight! Now the kids will have some cookies and then we’ll all head out to volunteer. Avery’s up and is hungry. One last potential pizza for his lifetime? Maybe. Maybe. Everyone has returned from volunteering so now it’s time to figure out what everyone wants to do! That being said, Selena needs to make friends and I have been ignoring her all week. Perhaps it’s time for her to take an adventure by herself to the park. It took a bit for the kids to spawn in, time enough that I had to call in a vendor to get her some food. But hey, we found someone to befriend.

Kristy Malloy is one of mine. I believe I made her family in one of those patch lulls where I wanted to play but didn’t want to risk corrupting my main file. We quickly befriend this genius of a gal as we can, though I had to keep resetting her because she kept wanting to go off-lot far too soon. We need to become friends! Friends! This is a big deal for Selena, trying to befriend kids! Don’t want to go home right away so I’m just going to linger here just a little longer and befriend another kid. She may hate hanging out here but maaan. And quite quickly do we make friends with another kid. Nice! Now, we can go home.

Onto Emille then and she wants to befriend Avery. Sure, why not! Like how the girls just latched onto the one ‘normal’ person around.

So I was glancing around, trying to see if there was anyone on the street Avery could prank and Selena could befriend for her second adult and we found Noah! Hooray! Still a shame about Mio huh. And we’re back in the Stuart-Waddell household. Welp, I messed up the volunteering thing by leaving the lot and returning back but ah well. More opportunities down the line for empathy growth. Don’t like any of Roxana’s current whims at the moment so I’m going to have to go into the rewards thing and then pick up a want refresher potion. Let’s see, we got work for everyone in an hour expect Roxana. Annnd Roxana is feeling utterly flirty thanks to this lot having the Romantic Aura around it. And all of those romance socials I queued up because of said initial flirty moodlet. Let’s see, let’s do some cooking and baking first, since the kids only have so much food left for them. That being said, I’m making cookies. Both flirty heart and sugar ones. Real curious to see what moodlet the kids would get with those cookies.

Oooh, one of the people I thought about turning into a vampire dropped down for a social chat. Let’s just use our new ability to check his traits and...paranoid, slob, self-assured. You will make a fine vampire! Now to move into our home and- I knew I recognized him from somewhere! He has a cat! We need cat stuff stat! And what’s our new kitty’s traits? Territorial, affectionate and mischievous. What a kitty. Avery McHenry is this person’s name and his aspiration is to become a chief of mischief. That doesn’t require a job requirement soooo, let’s look at his skills. 7 mixology, 5 fitness, 3 fishing for tops. Hmm. With his paranoid trait, he’d absolutely be a bad mixologist. I don’t really think being an actor, an astronaut, an athlete would be up his ally either. So we got another cop, or military. Or a part-time fisherman! I honestly could go either or between military and cop. ...I’m thinking cop because military requires a lot of fitness and this dude has a handlebar moustache. It’s very cop vibes.

...annnnd Roxana decided to automatically flirt with him. GREAT. WONDERFUL. Let’s continue this uh, shall we? Flirts are a go! Oh boy oh boy oh boy. Kids are back from school as well. Time to manage needs! Emille wants pizza, which hey, good for her. Let’s order some. Selena wishes to be alone so I sent her to her room to read a book. Harrison is embarrassed from failing to prepare well for a test. Also low fun so let’s sort that out. Emille has her pizza and can now focus on her aspiration, aka play the violin some more! Now let’s see. Selena wishes to make more friends, both child and adult but hmm. Can’t leave the lot. Her sister’s playing the violin after all! And just as I was about to let Roxana and Omar have some steamy times, she gets utterly depressed by the fact her relationship with Avery withered and decayed. Likely, by being weird in proxmity to him. Alas and woe! Anyway, Selena befriended Avery before she went to bed. Her sister managed to get creativity up to 10! Now just needs to make some pictures. And Harrison has returned from work still embarassed.

With Roxana’s near eternal flirty mood, I actually set her to do what I was going to do ages ago. Write a romance novel. It’s totally vampiric propaganda. Omar wishes to mentor a child but also! Sounds like a good excuse to volunteer! Again! Night time volunteer time! A moment of peace and quiet for me, as I had all hands on deck managing all of the everyone in this house.

...got an alert about Yuki’s ghost about to pass on. Maaaaaan. I’m sad. Anyway, Omar’s goal is to still mentor a kid so he’ll still tutor Harrison in fitness. Huh. It is 6AM! It is evidently the holiday of TV Season Premire, a holiday only teens care about! Anyway, I’m actually around to do some gardening around the house! The gardening of plasma fruit and the other strange plants that work for vampiric drinks. I tend to sell the wolfsbane and the mosqito trap though. Only the plasma fruit do I really need. Annnd we got work with Omar alongside the kids going to school. Been an age.

Okay here’s a thing that’s been bugging me. Omar was going to work in his casual outfit. I tried to get him to modify his career outfit but he was still in his everyday one. I think it’s a vampire thing. So now we’re just going to switch one of his everyday outfits into a doctor one. ...our doctor thing wants us to run a treadmill test and we can’t do that on children. All of our patients are children! And I didn’t get the diagnosis right on the kid. It was a 50/50 shot since all I saw was the fever. House call popped up so at least I can do that to make the day better. And maybe get adults waiting in line when I come back.

...all of the house patients are not sims of this household. Ha. All three got examined and medicine and then it’s back to the hospital. Still nothing but kids back there. Alas. At least we got the kid treated for her illness. There we go! We got a lady with an illness. ...and she despises Omar. FUN. Since it’s near the end of his workday, we’ll just run some tests before heading off.

We return home and both Tamarra and Harrison are off at their other jobs. Fun! Oh and Roxana is thirsty. Let’s mix up a plasma jane for her then. Let’s see. Selena wants to become enemies with her father Omar. Glorious! Well, I was just going to have her shout forbidden words and then discipline her and then the Sims decided to be even more mean to each other. Great. Wonderful. And trying to teach manners didn’t work. Ah what fun. Welp, time to see if being mean does raise social and yep! It does. Anyway, now Selene is in time out and Omar is just going to do a punch downstairs. Boxing thing set up after all.

Ha! Roxana wants to have a child but alas, she is vampire. Which I mean, she could, there’s nothing to say vampires in the Sims 4 can’t have children, I just find it weird that she can in the first place. She did have Emile and Selena but at this point, I made her ‘infertile’ by making her not be able to have children in the sexuality settings. You gotta have some drawbacks to being creatures of the night!

...WOW. Roxana’s second whim is to be mean to a child, as apart of her childish trait. WELL NOW. I’m going to put her into a playful mood and then impishly pester Selena. That seems about right. She jokes but jokes in a way that actually hurts her kids feelings. Hmm. She got disciplined again for being mean...I could have her apologize but she likely thinks her parents are too weird with their strange hissing. So another insult! And we’re up to level 5 social! Now let’s let Roxana put her to bed. Oh and Omar and Emile also watched tv alongside them. Just weren’t apart of the conversation.

Let’s see. Oh geez. We’re having a lot of vampires pop on by our doorstep. THEY KNOW. But hey, it’s not as if Roxana and the rest of the family wouldn’t mind. Time to say hello and befriend these other vampires! Annnd Tamara is now a vampire. Fun! Once we’re done with this day, we’ll move her out elsewhere. Honestly, I would stick her in Del Sol Valley, if it weren’t for the fact that A) vampire, and B) it’s a rather extremely sunny area.

Anyway, I did my usual thing of pulling up outfits from the main sim into the normal sim and turning them black! Very simple. I don’t really use dark mode much anyway. Now let’s see...I don’t much like getting abilities until we have a good selection of weaknesses to choose from but at least the first tier is free. Let’s pick up detect personality and occult disciple to start with. Her first whim is to...become enemies with Jeb. Could do but we have a vampire gathering going on! I’ll at least set up Roxana to try to teach Tamara the basics of vampirism.

Right. One of the things for Omar to do is to go into full parent mode. So I’m gonna cheat the system and have Harrison shout forbidden words and then discipline him and then cheat that until he gets to go into full parenting mode. There we go! And now his need decay will slow down a lot for 2 hours. And considering he’s on the cusp of thirsty, that’ll help. Let’s see. Last thing is to have a child with three positive character value traits. I hope Harrison will count for this. Anyway, he’s ageing up this time so normally, I would rotate off of that aspiration but I might as well keep it on. Besides which, he still needs that empathy up! Let’s see...you know, we can still volunteer, even at this time. Let’s get that empathy up!

Right! Time for another addition to the Stuart-Waddell’s home!

It’s a bedroom! Very bare but hey. This is meant to be an inbetween spot for vampires so there is that. Let’s see. It’s been a bit since I checked in with Omar so what does he want? To eat popcorn. The popcorn he can not stomach anymore. ...on your head be it Omar! Let’s see, next whims are to create a drawing on the parenting board which...okay. I’ll take that as a leap off to learning parenting skill. And now all the vampires around here are getting thirsty. Including Harrison, who just got back from school.

Finally, I glance at the girls. Emille wishes to play with three toys for her aspiration and, well, now it’s a guessing game of which toy is it that she hasn’t played with yet. I managed to find one at least! Selena wishes to be alone at the moment so I would have her tell her sister to move away...and then it turns out they could be Best Friends Forever so let’s do so! That’ll top off that part of the aspiration! And then she can enjoy her alone time, reading a book while Emille heads off for the tv.

A good bit about parenting is bridging the gap between hated relationships so Omar is trying to mend his with his daughter Emille. And make food for them. ...I need to put clutter along the bathroom countertops in the basement because they keep wanting to cook down there! Done with that! ...it is only as Paris leaves that I realize that I could have the thirsty Roxana ask for permission to drink. Alas! And we also had some finickiness with the bed and monsters for Selena.

Next, I am just having Omar do some parenting interactions with Harrison, to gain that skill some more. Encouraging his cleanliness, having him mop puddles, and then influencing him to gain fitness. Tamara finally woke up and now I can actually see her skills. Not that it matters much, since I know what career she’s going to go into. Oh! And I thought to have Roxana take a picture of Tamara. I have some pictures of the family up on the wall and I figured it would be good to have one of her soon to be vampire kin.

Another day in the Stuart-Waddell household. Roxana is thirsty so let’s have a fruit salad and a Plasma Jane. Omar...wants to have a child so, uh, let’s work on his aspiration shall we? We still need parenting level 10 with him! Hmm. Both the drink and the food didn’t help much. Let’s try another plasma salad then. Ah, Roxana is also insatiably thirsty as well. Fuuuuuuun! Also I actually thought for Roxana to make some food. Because the kids are going to be hungry and I don’t think they can eat the plasma salad yet.

The kids are back from school! And Emile and Selena are sleepy as all get out! ...huh. Harrison got the health food nut lifestyle from all of those plasma salads he ate. That’s fun! Let’s see. One of Omar’s marks on his aspiration is to have a kid with three good traits. Harrison is super close to that! He just needs his manners bumped up a bit. Easily done by cleaning up around the house! The kids are finally awake! It’s time to do the thing I wanted to do! Volunteer time! All of this household is of to pick up trash at a beach! Though I was thinking park instead. I could either go explore the nightlife and make a new friend with Harrison, or I could have Roxana go and actually make progress towards her aspiration. ...putting it like that, I know which one I want to go for then. We’re going to head off to the park and have Roxana bring along one person! And I know whom to bring… we’re going to bring Brad! That dude what with the Wallace household met with! Time to bring a Brad into the eternal nightlife! ...except I can’t seem to be be able to turn him into a vampire.  Since we aren’t immediately at his throat in another way, aka being a werewolf, that must mean he’s a spellcaster! DANG. Welp, it’s 3AM and I want to actually be at home by 5AM for once. Gardening resets at around that time!

Roxana has the freelance writer career, which I think feels fitting for a vampire that has to keep a low-profile. Though she had the career before I even played with her in the first place! Most of the jobs still involve writing books, which kind of makes one feel like...I could just write books of my own instead of these jobs that other people take credit for. Which ah well, just a matter of the reliability of the Sims world writers to find publishers and make steady money not matching reality.

Our gig is to write a biography and it’s due 9AM on Thursday! Time to start up by chatting with the client. Ohp, she’s thirsty and needs that blood! ...and I forgot about the fact she’s a guilty drinker by the time I invited Brad over for a hangout and bloodfest! Ah well. We’ll eat some salad and drink some drinks. ...and I decided to purchase bat form for Roxanna. Mostly because the stairs in this house are annoying enough that I glanced at the walk from basement computer to the fridge and was like, “we need a transportation, pronto.” Oh and all three kids had pop ups for Love Day at school and all three passed with flying colors. Huzzah and hooray for delightful love days! So lets now get to work on our biographies while she waits for Omar to come home.

Kids are back! Harrison is enraged! For he is that moody teen! OH JESUS! Harrison is just going to have a nom on a passerby! Ah. Got routed out of it thanks to the person being on a bike. Welp. Still, I like the idea of him drinking uncontrollably from someone so I’m just going to let him linger on the streets. Annnd someone’s going to talk to him! Excellent, let’s drink them dry! Well, after glancing over at the girls, seems it didn’t take. Time to eat fruit salad then! Annnnd, it’s one hour until work already! Let’s go and try to finish off another fruit salad real quick before heading off. ...man he’s not going to have much time for Love Day at all! Oh hey! Roxana managed to finish off a masterpiece of a biography and send it off for publishing...or fix up family trees or some such? Well someone has to do it, I suppose.

Anyway, Omar’s off work and he is THIRSTY. I was going to see if he was going to drink from someone randomly, but no. He’s just pulling out the stored blood that he has. Anyway, with that done, we’re going to do the big thing for Love Day! Send Roxana and Omar off on a date! It has to be somewhere with drinks! I think we’ll head for the Lounge. Classy vampires aim to stay classy. And it was a sweet date, the two just having an intimate moment with each other in the corner...and then they began drinking. A lot of drinking. So many plasma janes. Not even talking to other people, just drinking. And thus did the two gain comfortably compatible lifestyles and Roxana got the deeply in love sentiment. Nice job you two! It was 1AM so I lingered just a little bit longer before sending the two home. And thus did Love Day end with Roxana and Omar having a fantastic day and an eh one for Harrison, Emille and Selena. Omar headed home but I decided that Roxanna should have at least one more drink before she goes home.

Aye! It’s one of the people I was going to turn into a vampire! I asked her to linger a bit longer as I was going to make a proposition she couldn’t refuse…

It’s time for the mutual partaking of blood. It’s time...to become a vampire! Anyway, I’m going to have her join our household, in this inbetween time before she turns fully. It also ensures that she’ll not immediately die for awhile yet. I don’t trust neighborhood stories as far as I can throw it so let’s ensure death doesn’t come immediately for the newly turned.

...oh fun! Her aspiration is to be a public enemy! She also has no skills and now, no job, since she was a pre-made producer/director on the acting lot. ...I’m going to give her some base logic and charisma, since I think a director would at least have that going for them. Anyway, now Roxana can...get another drink because she’s moderately thirsty again. MAN.

I also had a sudden realization of who the violinist is. IT’S THE BOY WHO WEARS A BAG ON HIS HEAD! He’s cute underneath it! Also, GO TO BED JEB, IT’S LATE AT NIGHT AND YOU GOT SCHOOL! Unfortunately, Tamara needs to be disliked by two sims for her aspiration and he annoyed her with his bad music. Time to become disliked! And I frantically queue up mean interactions with Jeb before he heads off to school. Annnd, disliked! Good for Tamara! Well now it’s time for Tamara to find some breakfast. It’s a new day! And we have a person who works as a doctor in this family! So today we follow Omar into work! And just before he was set to go off for it as well, it’s near 8AM and if Harrison was just a little bit slower, would have just missed him.

Right, our promotion task this time is to perform surgery on three patients and we got one already. That’s not something I can press for so let’s just take care of our patients as usual.

WOW! Rude! So Sally Sigworth is an alien and I knew ahead of time that this kid would be marked up and alerted as such, so I decided to treat her first and see if we’d get this result. I mean, come on! You’re a vampire Omar! Can’t judge a kid too harshly! Hmm, but looking at the compelling diagnosis, we got two options here. Both of which, Sweaty Shivers and Llama Flu, have fevers, the animation I keep seeing Sally do. I’m gonna take a stab in the dark and go for Sweaty Shivers… and hooray! It was correct! Yay for me!

Next we’re going to attempt to treat Judith Ward, famed superstar she is! We did manage to find her illness just in time for work to wrap up. It was a non-surgical related one so I wasn’t going to stay overtime for it. But hey! Good day at work!

Right then! We got some thirsty vampires as we return home! So I have Harrison go for the plasma fruit salad that’s in the fridge, Omar continues his drinking from medicial bags, like he did at work, and Selena invites over a neighbor. She invites over Santiago! ...oh huh. I didn’t realize she too has the guilty drinker drawback as a vampire. Huh. Welp! Anyway, it’s New Skill Day so we’re having Omar pop down to the computer to write a little, as he’s on the cusp of getting skill level 2 as a writer. Onto Harrison and his next task is to get a promotion with his fabulously wealthy aspiration. Hmm. Well, there’s no work task as he’s just a retail worker. And maxed out into taking the calls at that! His Charisma skill is at level 7, so I’m not particularly enthused about working on that. How about working on acting? That might be fun! Selena needs to meet up with someone for her aspiration...and Emile wants to be inspired to draw some pictures so let’s sort those two out. We found Sally, newly cured, walking along the street! That’ll do for an introduction.

Let’s see...why is the next stage on childhood social stage always the “make a bff” one? That takes so much effort! Hmm. Wait a moment. Her sister could count! It’s those two versus their weird family, after all! Let’s see. Omar and Harrison are getting thirsty again, the drawbacks of not satiating thirst upon the blood of normal sims. Oh hey! It’s even Guys Night at the local bar! Neat! First we’ll have a Plasma Jane then! And then we’ll chat! ...oh no! The guy that I keep getting whims to chat with just decided to leave! Rude!

Though this tune of the blues more strikes me as not dancing music so much. Ah well! Also I keep a counter of how many young adults vampires drink. If they drink 5 or so in a row, they’ll regain young adulthood! Anyway, to a place where elders hang out instead! To the lounge! Might be more Carson’s speed!

And we got bills again. 918 dollars of them. Hmm. Man does being vampires in small lot with the frugal trait help, or what? Anyway, our whim is to go and befriend Carson Allen, so that’s what we’ll do! Also evidently, the barkeep is also a vampire! Let’s say hello! And befriend her!
