Who’s your favorite main character you’ve written?
Ever? No idea. This year, I haven't written very much, whoops. Been a bit of a hectic one. But my favorite main characters in what I have written in 2022 have been Will Graham, and Hob Gadling (not yet published, but I've got two WIPs that are almost ready to kick out of the nest). Will (canonically) has a dry, sardonic sense of humor and a perspective I relate to intensely, and Hob (semi-canonically, very fanonically) has a playful sort of irreverence that is also very relatable and easy for me to write. Inasmuch as any fic writing flows like water for me, their internal monologues and dialogue do.
Meta! Have any meta about a story you’re dying to throw out there?
I'll reach back to last year's Yuletide for this one - Spinning Sugar is a Wayward Children fic set after Come Tumbling Down, from Kade's perspective, and centers his friendship with a new student named Sarah. (Kade and Sarah both visited Fairyland-type worlds on their own adventures, and both of their worlds were at once beautiful and extremely cruel.)
No one who commented on that fic - and I did get some very lovely comments! - said they saw what I did there, so I'll go ahead and say that she is absolutely named for, and looks exactly like, Sarah Williams from Labyrinth. xP It's not a straight-up crossover, but aside from her appearance and name I put a few more thematic tie-ins into the story.
The other thing about that story is that I seriously wound up with enough backstory brainstormed for Sarah that I could quite easily (for a "me" value of easily, which is to say not very, but still) write a whole novella for her in the style of various others in the Wayward Children series. Unfortunately, I barely had time to write even the 2k story that I published, but I still have some thought to go back and try to write longfic about her time in the Wood. I was gratified that, even if I never do write that, apparently I managed to hint at enough of it in the Yuletide fic that it resonated for some people.
Anything you were planning to write that never got written?
I've planned to write far, far more things than I've actually written, in general. xD
This year, though? Not really, actually. I've been so focused on all the Life Stuff (TM) going on that what little writing I've gotten done has been an unexpected bonus.
The one thing that kind of counts for this that technically could still happen before the new year is that a friend was recently lamenting the relative lack on AO3 of a particular flavor of Hob Gadling/Corinthian fic, and my brain almost immediately supplied a "hey, here's how you could fill that brief!" concept/outline. But that's one of those things where I'm like, I could write this and would like to write it, but let's be honest, I'm almost certainly not gonna write it. :P
Got tagged! For a last line you wrote in your WIP meme, by @stylishanachronism (♡♡♡) Still "working" on Anthem Infinitum chapter 16, so here's the last line from that:
Oddly, she found herself thinking of her father more and more once the flat plains and forests of the Dyrwoodan countryside started to give way to rolling knolls and foothills, the path growing patchy and overgrown.
(Astute readers will observe that this passage is utterly unchanged from when I posted it in a "post the last line you wrote in your WIP in the tags" thing like a month ago. If anyone is wondering why I've made literally no progress in all that time, it's because leave me alone lalalalala i can't hear you i can't hear you a bloo bloo boo hoo bloo)
Tagging others is a thing I've never really been able to get comfortable doing, so if you see this and you wanna share, please do! If you don't, no pressure! I love you! ♡♡♡

He opened his mouth as if to say something, then thinking better of it shut it. Pearce glanced up at the clock and out the window. The last light of the sun disappearing.
“It’s best if we leave now.”
“Then let’s go, before I lose my nerve,”
not exactly the last line but eh. also you can forget about me tagging other people esp for one per word lmao.
Oh man, I just found the coolest customizable blog theme. I may just sit on my own page and watch the gears rotate.
Thanks @stylishanachronism for using such a cool theme, and @themesbyeris for making it in the first place.
Mint - that is more of a threat to you than it is to me seriously once I ripped half of the oven door clean off bc I burned my finger and I didn't fully let go of the door handle... Deep lore I guess
In Honor of the Avowed trailer finally being released, I have finished my second round loom project! I've been planning this one since I got it and was really hyped to get to it and finally redo my original Pillars piece on the rectangular loom with a bit more experience under my belt.
All in all, I'm very happy with it! It still got a bit lumpy and the edging suffered from my attempts to fix that, but it worked out pretty well and I got some more experience out of it that I will hopefully be able to use for future projects. The edging especially was basically just a spur of the moment idea but it looked really good on the loom so if I'm a bit more careful taking it off next time that should also be able to hold better. And though I was very uncertain about using different yarn thicknesses, I think it looks pretty great. When holding it up to the sun it even lets through a little bit of light right in the middle which really adds to the vibe.
Not sure what I'll try next yet but stay tuned, I will definitely make more.😏
Also thank you to @stylishanachronism who really helped me fix the skrunkliness. <3
