Gummli's new look! Since the OC they're based on had also been redesigned, I wanted to reflect that with Gummli as well.

They were always meant to have a space theme, but I didn't really show it in the 2022 design. Gummli's outfit is meant to at least resemble a space suit, and I made the stars a lot more visible as well. Players can select between both versions of their outfit. In personality, they're still the same so their original profile here still applies.

I wanted to get them looking as close to the canon style of the Sugar Rush kids, but with a mix of my own. Took me quite a bit to get the hang of it, so it's all a matter of practice from here. Their kart might get redesigned to fit the color scheme better.

As it stands, this doesn't mean I'll be going back and redrawing the other kids as well. At least not yet. I wanted to see how much my art style had changed since then. I'm balancing a lot of different things at the moment so I've been approaching it at my own pace.

My interest hasn't died, so no worries there.

Name

Bicky Chocrisp.

Gender

Female.

Appearance

She has brown skin and dark brown eyes. Her kinky hair is black with light brown streaks, in box braids and woven into a shoulder-length ponytail with a red band that imitates a plaited pastry. She wears a glossy chocolate-brown leather jacket with a gold zip over a white T-shirt with a red heart symbol in the middle. She also has fawn leggings and dark brown shoes with red laces. Her white helmet is modelled after a chocolate-drizzled meringue.

Theme

Biscuits, sandwich biscuits in particular, pastries and meringues.

Kart

The Tartful Dodger. It has an eclair body, Oreo-esque wheels, a chocolate tart steering wheel, and the seat is two halves of a chocolate sandwich biscuit with cream cushions.

Bicky Chocrisp: Smart cookie.

What Bicky Chocrisp lacks in raw power, she makes up for in control and cunning. She’s a master of timing, boosts, powerups, and all the other racing tricks that technically aren’t cheating - even if they may feel like it to those she overtakes. She’s clever, creative and sweet. But she can put up brittle walls of bravado to hide her soft, gooey centre and sometimes worries about being good enough. She likes to watch and analyse races and conversations as much as participate in them.

She has fair skin, cyan eyes and dusty purple hair in a choppy, spiky pixie cut dotted with sparkly cyan crystals. She wears a sleeveless dark blue puffer jacket over a purple top with short, spiky ripped sleeves, a shiny cyan foil skirt, and dark blue boots with silver laces and cyan crystalline studs. Her helmet is dark blue, smooth and has a purple fuse on the top.

Theme

Popping candy and fizzy sweets and drinks.

The Tangnado. Its body is a soft drink bottle of purple glass containing tubes of cyan sherbet, its wheels are cyan fizzy tablet sweets with purple jelly ring tyres, its seat is dark blue and its steering wheel is a silver bottle cap.

Roxy Fizzlepop is bubbly, buoyant and bold. She loves the thrill of the race. Win or lose, no outcome will deflate her overflowing cheer as long as she’s done her best, and she always does. Her strategy in everything is charging hard and fast ahead. She’s eccentric, easily distracted but tending to notice details others don’t. She feels all her feelings very intensely. If you manage to set her off by being mean, you’ll find that her temper can be explosive.

She has tan skin, silky jet-black hair in pigtails with bands that imitate pineapple rings and green eyes. She wears a yellow T-shirt with brown seed prints, a translucent pink sweet wrapper skirt, yellow and green striped knee-length shorts and pink shoes. Her helmet resembles a raspberry and matches her shoes.

The Boltberry. Its body is a slice of fruitcake. It has pineapple rings wheels, a steering wheel made of a caramelised apple slice and an orange segment spoiler. Green markings of star fruit cross sections decorate the bonnet and sides.

Juicica Tuttifrutti: Fruits of labour.

An apple a day keeps the rivals away in Juicica Tuttifrutti’s book. This athletic health nut can be slightly overbearing, but she has her friends’ best interests at heart and dedicated diligence is how she shows she cares. Her spirit is patient and resilient, full of positive energy. She holds herself to high standards and would never grab the low-hanging fruit. She believes that practice makes perfect. It certainly makes her a great racer!

Appearance

She has fair skin and blue eyes. Her wavy white hair is styled in a chin-length bob that alludes to a popcorn flake. She wears a boxy jacket and trousers with thick vertical red and white stripes like a popcorn carton and gold buttons shaped like pretzels, and a golden shirt underneath. She also wears black patent leather shoes with gold buckles. Her helmet is gold and encrusted with glittering salt crystals.

Theme

Salty snacks like popcorn, nuts and pretzels that are often found at public venues and eaten while watching movies.

Kart

The Crackerjack. Its body is a normal kart shape, mostly red with white stripes. It has salted nut cluster tyres supported by straight pretzel spokes and popcorn flake hubs, a pretzel steering wheel and a seat made of golden-brown crackers with white cheese cushions. An exhaust pipe and rocket booster at the back are fitted into popcorn flakes.

She would never lie or play dirty and doesn’t mean any real harm; she just thinks a compelling racing story needs a little drama. Earn her respect and you’ll find that her grit really enhances her subtle sweetness.

Yeeaaa, I rushed these a bit. I sketched out everything yesterday and tried to finish coloring in the span of two hours. Whatever, I still had fun with these. I should design stuff out of confectioneries for a living tbh 🤷🏽 (cuz I like food)

I just wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone that's been following and interacting with this blog. While I haven't been active in quite a while, it makes me very happy to see the folks interested in my own take on all of the Sugar Rush kiddos. My project has been in the back-burner for quite a while but do know that I haven't forgotten about them.

There's no set date, but for my next step, I want to complete the entire roster for my take on the Sugar Rush sequel, Sugar Rush: 1984.

After that, I'd like to eventually and possibly go for a redraw of the roster I included back in 2022, just to see how far my art has improved. I am taking things one step at a time as I've been kept busy with work and other life responsibilities.

I have a lot in store. No set date but it's in the works. Thanks again for all your support!

Inktober Day #2: Power Off, as hosted by @dorkaarts

In the real world, a tween boy was opening up his phone, absentmindedly clicking on the BuzzzTube app, expecting to waste time scrolling past random clips. Much to his surprise, an “ERROR” message popped up, stating that the servers were currently down.

Boy: “Ugh. Really?… Oh well. TikTok it is!”

Meanwhile…

Alarms were blaring and the normally blue Internet sky went dark as the flames that engulfed the BuzzzTube Headquarters illuminated and casted shadows around the normally bright and sterile world. Luckily, everyone that was inside is safely outside, keeping their distance from the burning building.

The trendsetter Yesss groaned, shaking her head as she pinched the bridge of her nose.

Yesss: “How. Did this happen?!? Maybe, didn’t you do prop checks like you were supposed to?!”

Maybe: “Yes, Yesss! I did! I got all the reports from the studio operators, the visual effects team, we checked with lights… Everything was up to code!!!”, he frantically explained to his boss, while his work-partner/husband placed a reassuring hand on his back.

Yesss: “Then WHY is my life’s work on fire?!?! And not in the good way!!!”

Melton: “Yesss, please! I am sure we’ll figure out what happened! We will just have to wait until we are in the clear…”

As the grown-ups were in panic, the two kids standing on the side just watched the scene take place before them. The oldest of the pair turned to his younger brother.

Hugo: “… You just HAD to make those viral candy grapes without a kitchen pass, didn’t you?….”

The little, “angel” child had a wide smile, not at all phased by what should have been a traumatic experience. He simply shrugged.

Milo: “Well, I thought I could do it… But look at the bright side! Everyone will be talking about this for weeks! This hot topic will send thousands and thousands of views our way! BuzzzTube’s traffic will be on a grind after this… I might even try this again…”

"...Dead Devil was a proposed rival Turbo, being a clumsy dare devil type who was so bad at his job he apparently died. His purposed personality was loud, arrogant, stubborn and flamboyant, but ultimately he was coded to be the opposite of Turbo.

Unfortunately Dead Devil was conceptualized late into development and was haphazardly patched in and only saw a limited release to certain cabinets. Due to being added so shoddily he suffered from severe bugs and glitches.

Mainly audio/ volume bugs, resulting in audio being to quite, loud, or distorted; and a persistent inability to actually say "Turbo." Collision issues, resulting in him phasing through other racers, barriers or getting caught on invisible blocks. An inability to understand complex inputs. And memory allocation issues. His bugs resulted in an unpleasant learning curve that turned some players away, but some saw the value of gliched runs.

DD was axed not to long before the rest of the series was due to competitor cutting Turbotime out of the market. All that is left of him is concept art and rare surviving arcade cabinets..."
