Can i request a Hyunjin scenario where you have dry lips and refuse to kiss him?
my first try at something a bit longer and i got kinda carried away >///
Hyunjin treasured every little thing about your relationship, but if he had to name his favourite, it would be the kisses. From the quick, giggly pecks to the deeper, more sensual kisses, Hyunjin would argue that each and every kiss was just as important as your shared first. No matter the timing or duration, it always managed to leave both your heads swimming, staring in wordless awe and growing love at each others’ flushed faces.  So, when you began to avoid them out of the blue, to say this lover boy was a bit hurt would be an understatement.
First, it’d been at breakfast, when he was just about to leave and and had pulled you in for a quick – but earnest – goodbye kiss. At the last moment, you’d ducked into his chest and thrown your arms around him in a hasty hug instead, which he’d – after a brief moment of stunned silence – returned.
Tumblr media
Later, when you came by the JYP building to pick him up after practice, his face had lit up at his first glimpse of you as he ran over to give you a quick peck – but, as if on cue, you’d jerked your head to the side, Hyunjin’s soft, expectant lips landing instead on your cheek as you waved at a very confused Felix.
Hyunjin was getting frustrated.
Tumblr media
A mixing-pot of clashing suspicions and emotions had begun brewing in the pit of his stomach – did he do something wrong? Were you just distracted, or mad at him? Or did you…not like him anymore?
So, when you suggested watching a movie in bed before sleeping, it took more than just a few insistent smiles and whiny aegyo before your boyfriend reluctantly agreed.
Throughout the movie, you felt Hyunjin’s gaze on you, and felt the blood rushing up to your cheeks from his intense stare, the nonchalance in the air draining away with every passing minute. When the movie ended, you finally turned to look at him, heart pounding, and your eyes widened as he leaned in – first his warm breath tickling your nose, then the surface of his soft lips briefly grazing yours before you tried to pull away. Instead of landing on the mattress as you leaned back, though, you felt Hyunjin’s hand wrap around your waist. In one swift motion, his hands pinned your arms above your head, face inches from yours as he straddled you. When he spoke, undertones of hurt and want rendered his voice lower and huskier than normal, sending shivers down your spine.
“Please, baby, I need you. Please–let me kiss you.”
You said nothing, still breathless from his body being so close to yours (especially in this compromised position), but also from your own burning desire to kiss him right then and there – but you couldn’t.
“Why are you avoiding me?” He asked.
You felt your heart hammering in your throat, stuttering your voice as you replied, “M-my…my lips. They’re really dry, okay,  and I thought…you’d think it was gross.”
Tumblr media
For the longest second, Hyunjin stared at you in disbelief, squinting in the dim light to get a proper look at your lips for the first time. Self-consciously, you ran your tongue over them, and winced. Your lips were chapped and cracked, pink only where angry blisters rose from the sensitive skin.
You felt him get off you and leave the room, and your heart sank, thinking this is it – he’s mad at me, and thinks it’s ridiculous – but within a few seconds he was back, and with a small jar in his hands.
“Our stylist uses this for dry lips,” he told you, fumbling with it. “Mine get really dry around this time of year, too–hold still.” Stunned, you obeyed as Hyunjin dipped two fingers into the container of a sweet-scented balm before gingerly rubbing it onto your lips, brow furrowed in intense concentration. “There we go.”
You already felt the raw, stinging feeling give way to pure relief as you smoothed your lips together. Nevertheless, Hyunjin was determined to get rid of your self-consciousness, and so you two spent the next hour whipping up DIY sugar lip-scrubs and other home remedies that reduced the two of you to a giggling mess. When you two finally decided to wash up and go to bed, Hyunjin made a point of slathering another generous layer of balm onto your lips, pouting when you insisted you could do it yourself.
Laying in bed, smelling like brown sugar, almond oil and honey, Hyunjin’s patience finally ran out. He took your face in his palms and began kissing you everywhere but your lips, making your shriek and giggle. Cheeks, the tip of your nose, your forehead and temples – none were safe from your boyfriend’s butterfly kisses.
Finally, he looked down at your smiling mouth and grew serious, running a gentle thumb along your bottom lip; all the dryness and painful blistering gone.
“I think…we should test whether or not all those remedies worked,” he murmured, and at last his lips were on yours, smooth and warm, and this time you didn’t pull away. Your fingers tangled in his hair, and all you could feel was Hyunjin kissing you with overwhelming love and care and a tenderness that brought waves upon waves of giddiness to your chest and tears to your eyes. All the pent-up frustration and silly worries from the last 24 hours were washed away by this moment.
By the time you two finally came up for air, you were seeing stars and Hyunjin could still taste honey and sugar as his eyes focused on your flushed face, lips now red for an entirely different reason.
“How–how are the results?” You breathed.
A mischievous glint lit up Hyunjin’s eyes as he replied, “I’m not sure – I think I’ll need ten, no, a hundred more of those kisses before I can answer you.”
You rolled your eyes, flustered comment cut off as your boyfriend leaned in for another kiss.

Aaaaah your skincare hc 💜 i'm dealing with some really bad acne rn and reading that was amazing. Can you write skincare hcs for 1a girls too? (And also the best girl hatsume mei if it's not too much) 💖
OMIGOD FIRST REQUEST BSDJJRJTJ YOU GOT IT BBY LETS GO-
Toru:
I got her hcs while I was in the shower coincidentally enough.
Tumblr media
Okay surprisingly for someone who you can't see, she really REALLY cares about her looks. It's really sad but she's actually super insecure despite being invisible
Loves any sort of face mask that has animals or cute things on it!! Cute, cute, cute!! She especially loves those little fruit shaped masks that you slap on different parts of your face like hgsvgbd please-
Actually has really oily skin, which is purely the cause of her insecurities. Someone please compliment this girl on her skin for gosh sakes-
Uses foam and oil cleansers to gently try and control her acne. Then uses a really light daycream with included sun protection when it's both day and night. She uses it at night because she gets scared that her night cream will be too much for her face. Better to go lighter.
OH MY GOD SHE LOVES HOT SPRINGS. P L E A S E. She enjoyed the camp so much because it made her pores open up and made it easier to clean!!
Uses those peel off pore masks on her nose, chin and upper lip. Hurts her sometimes, you can usually see her cry a bit when she takes them off.
Uses tweezers to clean up her eyebrows and upper lip. Hurts a lot, but she manages. Puts aloe vera after.
Detoxing is important! Sometimes she goes on a vegan diet for a week so that her acne gets a bit better. Only drinks water during that time too!
UGH GET THIS GIRL SOME PINK GRAPEFRUIT BODY SCRUB AND SHE'LL LITERALLY LOVE YOU FOREVER JUST OMG G R A P E F R U I T
In general she enjoys smelling like things you can eat! Mainly fruits, so Toru generally smells like berries or citrus.
Uses a stick deodorant that's organic. Hates the feeling of clinical deodorants.
Ajdjsjjjf acne needles? Yes. She uses them. Doesn't wanna get acne scars and this is more hygienic than actually popping pimples with your fingers. She really takes great care when it comes to her skin.
Ochaco:
Ochaco is literally me when I spent all my money on food :')
Tumblr media
Cheap as hell. Obviously. This means CHEAP BEAUTY HACKS!
Ochaco has normal skin thankfully enough, but she does get some bad days with acne. Happens.
Cheap means you make your own stuff. Instead of buying exfoliating scrubs, Ochaco makes her own by buying oatmeal, apples, raw honey, cinnamon, and lemon juice. She puts this all in a food processor, letting it become a thick paste. Before she puts it on her face, she puts in a bit of sugar and tada!!! Smooth, soft, baby skin!
Another thing she makes is cucumber and banana ice-cubes for her dark eyebags. She grabs some cucumber, mushes it half a banana and then puts them into an ice-tray. Then whenever she has dark eyebags, she busts out these bad boys and voìla!
Is a hoe for 5 minute-crafts stuff. They're usually cheap and work for her really well, so now she heccing worships it like a g O d.
Doesn't really understand makeup? She might only use some eyeshadow and eyeliner. Possibly chapstick if she has some.
Makes her own lipscrubs though! Sugar and honey make a beautiful scrub for her lips, she rubs and licks it off happily to reveal velvet, plush lips ready for kissing! ;)
Really good at making cute diy beauty stuff!! She once made this clear lip balm that had a dry flower inside. She actually sold some! She was so proud of herself.
Oh gosh if you give Ochaco expensive Burberry Her perfume that smells sweet and sugary she will cry because she is so grateful for that. It's her FAVOURITE smell. Otherwise, she smells like faint roses.
Uses spray deodorant on hot days and stick deodorant on cold days. Spray deodorant is such a perk up when she's been sweating from training.
If there's a sale on skincare products, you'd best believe Ochaco sits there in the morning in front of the shop to get all the best stuff first. She will actually kill someone if that try and take the last item on the shelf which is on sale, especially if it's like 50% off. She'd tear some limbs. O_o
Prefers liquid soap over soap bars, but buys soap bars more often because they're cheaper and easier to stock. Just please get her some moderately priced things god this girl NEEDS PAMPERING OKAY???
Momo:
Bro you know how gay I am for this girl like dude I LOVE HER OKAY???
Tumblr media
Completely and utterly clueless when it comes to skincare.
Never gets acne??? Like ever??? I'm so jealous it's SO UNFAIR. Does get dry skin though.
Uses those 24 carat gold face masks because they look pretty and make her face freakin GLOW LIKE A GODDESS.
Uses peel off masks, but more for dead skin. Hurts much less and she just heccing emits rays of sunlight.
Uses sunscreen a lot though. She's really prone to getting sunburnt, and she can't get a tan, which makes her kinda sad. Cancer is too scary to get a tan over.
Likes body and hand creams too much for her own good. Has a whole collection of them which all have a variety of smells and textures so her body and hands and just her skin is normally soft and silky and just hafdjskrjkt-
Has to use coffee scrubs and body oil since she has stretch marks from developing super fast. She's really insecure about it and hates that part of herself a lot tbh. Please praise her I beg you.
Loves to sit in a hot bath with rose petals. Spa treatment is all he knows about skincare really.
Has like four perfumes she normally uses. One is a sweet smelling perfume that has soft sugary notes that make you drool. The second smells like delicate roses with dewdrops from the morning mist. The second smells like berries and forests, as if you're about to pick some yourself. The last one smells like the pandan leaves with mangoes. Basically, Momo smells like paradise.
Actually loves buying cheap lip-glosses and lipsticks!! Her favourite is this shimmery golden lipgloss which changes colour depending on the light that she's in. Only uses it on very special occasions though. Otherwise, her best one is usually a moderately red lipstick or a cute red tinted lipgloss which just slightly colours her lips. Makes her lips so adorably kissable. (I'm gay for her okay shut up-)
Okay, we all know for a fact Momo be thicc. But she doesn't really like it honestly. Her thicc comes from cellulite and it's so gross to her. Uses a stiff, dry brush to move the fat around a by so she's more evened out in thiccness.
Mina:
Pink alien queen!
Tumblr media
Acid comes out of her skin daily, this means really dry skin. Dry like sometimes peel off dry. It's really bad.
Just like Toru, really cares about skincare. Although a little less than Toru but still.
Toners are her best friends because her pores sometimes open up due to her quirk. Acid can damage them sometimes too, so mild, hydrating toners are great for skin like her's.
HAND CREAM AAAAAAAAAAA
Whilst she isn't rich enough to have a bunch of handcream like Momo, she has this specific handcream that smells like candy and marshmallows. It's. So. Good. Also makes her hands soft and silky like gahdhhd-
Cream is also a good friend of hers. Uses both night and day cream to make sure her skin stays plump and hydrated!
Uses potato slices instead of cucumbers so that her dark eyebags aren't too bad. She normally doesn't get em so this rarely happens.
Also uses lots of vanilla and almond body cream. Soft and silky skin that can make anyone want to hug her. (IM SO GAY SHUT UP)
Uses lip masks! Loves those Korean or Japanese candy ones! They really leave her lips luscious for any kisses!
Speaking about Korean and Japanese stuff, SHE ADORES THEM.
Korean stuff the most! They always provide her with great results, so they're her go to when she has a really dry day. Loves using their hydration masks!
Uses lip tattoos because she hates the feeling of lipgloss or lipstick. Plus, it doesn't leave a mark.
Mina also thicc, but she's more of a muscular thicc than fat thicc. This means she needs to use body oil to make sure her thighs and skin are tight and smooth.
She uses lasers to get rid of her hairs. Somehow her hairs are immune to her acid. She uses laser treatment to make sure she doesn't have to deal with it often. You wouldn't even know she has hair tbh because of the treatment.
Mina smells like coconuts and sea-salt with a hint of lime or mint depending on her mood. She smells like what'd you smell in a 5 star island resort as you walk on the white sandy beaches and sit in the bar watching the sunset go down on the horizon just hhh-
Feet are baby smooth?? Dunno why. They're just naturally soft and beautiful and shfhd when she rubs her feet against your legs it's so soft it's like she rubbed petals on your legs-
Speaking about petals! She loves having baths with either bubbles or petals with some candles to calm down. Definitely after a hard day of training!! Don't disturb!
Tsu:
I CAN'T DO MUCH FOR TSU IM SORRY
Tumblr media
Tsu literally doesn't use skin items at all.
She has a normal skin type and also never gets acne somehow???? Like bro hecc tell me your ways.
She's not clueless about it like Momo, but she just has no use for it since her skin's just kinda perfect like hello what-
She is a frog though, so she really need that moisture!! Jacuzzi baths are like her favourite thing.
Ooh, also really likes those clay masks! That's the only skincare item she actually uses to be real with y'all.
Okay okay hear me out though, Tsu is a hoe for those kiddie slime baths. Like I'm not even kidding she loves it so hecking much but she would never admit it in any lifetime.
Also really loves it if you get her a whole big bag of those resin pellets that turn into those little jelly balls and she just goes into a bath of those??? Gosh yes paradise hecc
Smells like a dewy forest with hints of citrus and earthy tones. She's got that scent that's really unique and like you can walk by with a blindfold and point her out by smell alone.
Oops by the way she really enjoys having cucumbers on her eyes. She has natural eyebags, so she normally counters it with both cucumber and potato slices.
There's a secret tradition that runs in her family to get rid of wrinkles. They steam a small, knobbly hand towel with warm water and then rub it in circular motions on their face slowly going upwards. Works really heccing well.
Honestly, Tsu doesn't really care about her looks. Skincare or makeup for her is just an additional bother that she has to deal with.
Her skin is never pruney. Makes sense why though.
Mei:
Eyy because you asked so nicely! Tbh to me Camie from Shiketsu is best girl but like okay Mei is qt-
Tumblr media
She's always covered in grime and dirt, so she actually gets acne daily. She just has really great skin routines!
Has a combination skin type, her forehead is the oiliest compared with the rest of her far though. Yuck.
When she stops tinkering (haha when does she do that-), she immediately goes and washes her face with an oil face wash. It helps properly cleanse her pores from all the grime and dirt that was on her face.
Sometimes, she has a really grimy day, so she uses a harsh clay wash just to make sure EVERYTHING IS OUT. Then uses a hydrating toner and a very light daycream!
Exfoliates every two weeks to make sure her skin isn't gross. Skin cells need to turn over every two weeks, so she makes sure she does that or she'll literally have pimples scattered on her forehead.
Is a popper. She hates seeing pimples and immediately pops them on site with some gloves. Then puts a miniscule dab of antiseptic cream so that it don't come back and spread.
Mei smells like petrol. Literally. When she stays out of the lab for a week though, she actually smells like caramel and cotton candy.
Has calluses on her from tinkering so much. She doesn't like it. Please trace and caress them gently and she'll love you.
She uses body oil because it feels more normal than body cream. Can lead her to being clumsy because she sometimes sloshes it on her body and then she has to wait a while before she can actually do things.
Salt block. Hates deodorant. Masks the smell of grime in the lab and she LIVES for that smell.
Uses charcoal face masks to relax and detox. Helps her think of her next baby to create as well, so bonus!
Likes going to those floating pods. They're really relaxing and make her feel at ease in the world.
Bubble baths are a no no. She had a really bad experience with them once when she tried to make a bubble telescope and put it to her eye. Let's just say she used to be able to see farther…
She enjoys using lipgloss though! Her lips smell like cake or cookie dough even though they're normally coloured in a neutral pink or a soft red. Even tastes like strawberries and cream.
Takes hecking great care of her hands. Her hands are meticulously the most gorgeous part of her. They're soft, velvety, and while they are callused, it only adds to its perfections and they're just so stunningly manicured and she does it all by herself like oh my god her hands are just bdbdkfgjfk-
Since anon has some bad acne, I actually have some advice since I myself care a heck ton about my skin.
Oil based face wash goes incredibly well with a foam cleanser. Using both gets rid of all the dirt, oil, makeup and residue in your pores. Best stuff and keeps me clear.
EXFOLIATE PLEASE!! Get one of those cute exfoliating scrubs or literally make the one Ochaco uses. They're really important to do because your dead skin cells can cause more acne and bumps.
When you have bad acne, I suggest using only light daycreams after you wash your face because night creams can be too much. Also use a nice organic toner so that your pores are tight and can't get much dirt or gross things during the day/night.
Charcoal is the best face mask for detoxing and decreasing oil levels. But don't use it when you have pimples. It can actually cause more pimples to come because you're stripping your ace of the natural oils it needs.
That said, make sure to wash your face at least twice a day! Thrice is okay too, but four is too much. Make sure to moisturise immediately after too!
Sunscreen is so important. Get yourself a face cream that has at least an SPF of 30. Please. Cancer is real and the sun's rays can make you seem to age faster.
Woof, that was a loooot. Next time, please be specific with characters anon! I didn't mind, but I normally only do about 3 characters. I'm not doing much yet so this is cool but yeah. Thank you so much for requesting though and ACKEJKRKN YOU'RE A CUTIE ILY THANK YOU FOR LOVING MY WORK!!
I also realised I missed out Jiro T_T I might edit her in later but really I found her and Tsu the hardest to talk about skincare with because they're my really girls who care about how they look. They're just cuties.

Afrocentric Hair & Skin Care 101
Tumblr media
What is Afrocentric hair and skin care?
There’s a difference between general black hair and skin care vs. Afrocentric hair and skin care. A lot of mainstream brands sold in stores targeted at black hair and beauty are designed FOR black people but aren’t made BY black people and/or don’t contain ingredients from our own cultures.
You should always pick the products in your price range and that are good for your hair and your body! But it’s also helpful to be an informed consumer when choosing between hundreds of beauty brands - and unfortunately, the information isn’t always readily available. So here’s a simple guide to Afrocentric hair and skin care to help you put the best nature can provide into your body while also supporting and giving back to our own communities.
What’s good for my hair and skin?
Here’s some tips and general guidelines that I’ve learned so far through research and practice on my hair and skin hair journey!
1. The more natural, the better. Now, personally, I wouldn’t say this about everything in life! Pharmaceuticals can be life-saving, and I don’t think all natural or traditional remedies should be used in place of prescribed medications. However, when it comes to the regular care of your skin and hair - the fewer toxins and chemicals are absorbed by your body, the better!
2. As I’ve done more research, I’ve discovered that in most cases when it comes to all-natural ingredients, what’s good for your hair is also what’s good for your skin - and vice versa. Most natural ingredients can be used to hydrate, heal, protect, soothe, and strengthen your skin and your hair!
3. One size does not fit all. On your own journey to care for your skin and hair, you’ll want to experiment with different oils, butters, creams, and products to find out which types, combinations, and amounts work best for your skin and hair types! Find out if you have normal, dry, oily, combination, or sensitive skin to get a sense of what your skin care needs are. Knowing your hair type is also helpful for figuring out what types of products will keep it the healthiest and strongest.
4. Always read the ingredients list on the labels of any products you purchase. Whether you’re buying a supposedly single-ingredient product or something that lists three natural ingredients on its front label, always look at the fine print and check the official list. For instance, SheaMoisture is an excellent and popular black-owned skincare brand, but unfortunately, many of their products do include chemicals alongside the good stuff. And if you don’t check the labels, you might wind up with a “99% aloe vera gel” that contains mostly water.
This is a long post so click below the read more line to get to my lists of black-owned skin & hair care brands + Afrocentric skin & hair care ingredients.
Which skin and hair care ingredients are Afrocentric?

No. 8: Bedtime Routine
requested: Fluffy fic with Van, maybe face masks? Soft Van trying to take care of you?
summary: there's something to love about self care, even more when you can share it with the person you love the most, Van McCann.
a/n: self care is the besttttt shiiiitttt everrrrr. Honestly nothing is better than a face mask and a proper nice bath lmao. word count:
My Masterlist is here! .....
'Are you really on that pin-thing app again babe? When yer amazing, sexy as hell boyfriend is sat right here?' Van gestured to himself and his position next to you on the sofa.
'Firstly, Pinterest, not pin-thing. Secondly, yes. Thirdly, it's the best app ever, look! Three easy steps to baby soft skin, and see that, best homemade scrubs for dry skin. Pinterest knows it's shit when it comes to self-care like this.'
Van looked at the page you were on, then back at you; unsure. 'So, what? A bit of honey and cooking oil and you'll be dolphin smooth 'n shit? Be sticky more than anything love.' Unknown to Van you'd used these recipes many times before, and they really did work. You were actually quite hoping that you could give it a go tonight; with Van.
'You don't think it'd be good? I was actually thinking we could give it a go? Please Van it'd be a laugh.'
'Do I have to? Yer know I love ya, but I don't really think its me thing, y'know?' You saw his point, you couldn't really see Van as a face mask man, however you knew it would be fun. You weren't proud of your next words but you knew they would work, 'If you do this for me, I might do something for you later.'
You hadn't seen Van move that fast in your life, 'Right, What do we need then?' .....
'Sugar?' you held your hand out as Van slid the bag down the counter, it spilled a little but it wasn't a big deal.
'Sugar, for my sugar,' sometimes he would make comments that would leave you unsure of whether you wanted to blush or roll your eyes.
'Honey?' again holding your hand out, this time he planted the slightly sticky bottle into your hand, giggling to himself before saying,
'Honey, for my honey,' this time you rolled your eyes. You couldn't help it, it was cute but it was just that little bit cringey. Very Van.
'Right, and coconut oil, and just so you know now Van, call me a coconut or oily or whatever and i'll throw the spatula at you.' He laughed at this. Reaching down the coconut oil and placing it alongside other ingredients. You loved doing things like this with Van, he found a way to make anything fun.
Homemade face masks were the way to go, all natural and good, and this one was edible too. Even better, you had a guilty pleasure of licking it off your lips. They mixed together easily in the bowl, and as Van stirred the mixture, you took the opportunity to tie your hair away from your face, using a headband to keep any wisps away from Van's forehead. If you hadn't, and he got some sticky sugar in his hair, you knew he wouldn't wash it out properly.
You decided the bathroom would be the place to apply this as it would no doubt be messy, especially when Van was involved. It took a moment or two to realise that the mix worked better if you warmed it between your fingers for a second, as it helped melt it a little. Van went first, you covered his face carefully, you didn't want to get any in his eyes, you knew he would be unbelievably dramatic about it if you did.
You let him return the favour, he was much more gentle than you had been, but he always was, unless you asked him for otherwise. He used the pads of his thumbs to rub the mask in, placing a soft kiss to your nose once he had finished. 'Gorgeous,' he smiled, licking a small amount of the mask that had found it's way onto his lip, presumably from the kiss. 'Here sit, got an plan for ya darlin'.' The way he looked at you proved to you whatever it was it'd be at the very least; a laugh.
You watched as Van began to fix you up a bath, filling the tub with hot water and adding your favourite salts and bath soaps from lush. He even added some bath melts in the form of rose petals. The room began to fill with steam and to compensate you began to get undressed. Van stripped down to just his sweatpants, before helping you undress fully and lifting you into the water. There was something nice about being picked up by Van, with anyone else you would feel self-conscious, maybe a little nervous about being in that situation. Not with Van, he had a way of making everything you did together seem right and almost natural.
The bath was perfect, hot but not scalding, smoothing your skin, but not leaving an oily residue behind. Van let you soak for a few minutes, using this time to remove the well-soaked-in masks on both his and your face, using a slightly damp flannel in gentle circular motions, again resorting to the softest of touches. Once he had finished removing the sugar scrub he began with your hair. Starting with a brush, he removed it from your pony tail, careful to not get it wet and slowly began to untangle the ends, running the brush through carefully. Van would always complain when he saw you yanking the hairbrush through your hair on a morning and was the taking the time to show you how to do it properly. He continued brushing his way through your hair until it was completely untangled, leaning over to give you a kiss on the temple when he was done. 'Stunnin' love,' he said dropping the brush from his hands and replacing it with a small jug. He kept this jug down the side of the bath, he found the best way to wash your hair was to use the jug to pour water over you, he felt a bit weird about making you lie down for it; as if he was trying to dunk you.
'Tilt yer head back a bit darlin' don't wanna get it in yer eyes that's all.' Each time he poured more water over your hair he would cup his hand over over your face to prevent any water from going into your eyes.
Next came the shampoo, strawberry scented, Van's favourite, he would always comment on how good your hair smelt when he was cuddling you in on a night. His hands felt soft running through you hair, his fingers making gentle tugs on the roots, you made a mental note to get Van to do this more. He repeated his actions with the conditioner, and although you had to remind him to only apply it to the ends it was still more than enjoyable.
It was weird how well Van knew you, he knew which body wash was your favourite from the collection on the shelf, and he knew to apply it to the loofah and then onto your skin in circular motions. They were little things, but important none the less.
He held your fingers for a few seconds, tracing the vaguely visible bones beneath. There was something about Van's skin against yours, whether it was something as simple as his fingers against yours or something much more intimate.
'Whatd'ya say then petal? Fancy getting out now?' You nodded at Van but before he could lift you, you spoke;
'I love you Van'
'I love you too, darlin, here lets get yer out, you'll start pruning up soon.'

Men's Style and Prepared by Yatan Ahluwalia: How to Look Young - Brunch Facility | ViralHai News [ad_1]
Hair: Long and naturally curly with some white strands. No hair color used. With nothing but water and fingers, the hair was slightly moistened and styled to tame the curls.
Skin: We used an organic and natural handmade face mask by Valley View Organic for cleaning deep pores and then applied a few drops of Homemade Anti-Aging Serum by Nina to nourish the skin.
Face: The beard was trimmed using Andis shaver a day earlier.
Brow: Thick and bushy. We trimmed the center, ends and lengths to make them look natural well.
Lips: Clean and Buffed.
child
1. Style
While your hairstyle choice remains and should be a personal decision, I have often found that short hair works best on mature men. Keeping the hair very short on the sides and back makes the center and top appear fuller, thicker and thicker. This creates a visual illusion that makes you look both brighter and younger.
If you have medium length hair, style the hair with a comb so that it looks clean. Use strands to cover any spots where hair is thin or missing. If you want to make your face look thinner, as well as cover your hair, then let some strand fall to the forehead.
If you have long hair (like the model in the picture) then avoid pulling it back in a tight ponytail, as this will make your forehead look wider and scarier. Instead, keep the hair open - allowing the strands to take their natural curly shape and form. Play with the strands to cover the forehead and sides.
2. Roll and Care
If you prefer to live gracefully, then you can avoid using hair color completely. Some visible varieties of brown may just make you look more respectable. Most women, I know, prefer a man who has some brown - some even tell me gray hair on men, which makes them look sexier! Take their word for it, if not mine!
If you decide to color, choose a shade like dark brown on black. It will always look more real and natural. There is nothing worse than a charcoal black block of hair, against skin that does not look naturally young.
Oil your hair once a week for a few hours or overnight. You can also use a hair mask or hair serum. Use a reliable natural shampoo and conditioner to remove the oil completely, so that the pores can breathe. Keeping your hair wet with oil will close the pores and stop or slow down the natural growth of your hair.
Facial hair
3. Brow
Your eyebrows can drastically change and change the shape of your face. Instead of leaving them unrolled, make it a point to trim the loops and clean the center.
When the outer ends are longer than the inner ends, your jawline looks sharper and the face will look more angular than round. Trim long hair using scissors so that the shape looks clean and you don't have strands that are out of place.
Repeat the process monthly or once every 15 days - it depends on the growth of your hair.
4. Make up and shave
Let me be blunt - facial hair, especially a mustache and a beard, has nothing to do with manhood. The only thing they do is actually add a few years to your face and look.
Read between the lines - Clean shaved men not only look young and new, but they actually appear more dependable, acceptable and desirable.
Since almost everyone is sporting a beard or a mustache or both these days, it would be a good idea to go under the clipper (or razor) and get rid of them for good, unless it's something that defines you And you really can't live without personally though, I really doubt that this is true.
Eyes
5. under the eyes
There is nothing better for dark circles than drinking enough water and having eight hours of sound, restful sleep.
While water intake capacity may vary from one person to another, I suggest trying to drink about four liters of water a day and keeping the eyes clean and the skin well hydrated.
My tried and tested remedy is to drink a glass of warm water with some freshly squeezed lime juice and good organic and pure honey. Do this daily at a stretch or for at least fifteen days to see visible changes and positive results. Especially recommended if you work hard or drink the previous night.
Face
6. Changing Skin and Large Pores
While women have the advantage of using makeup to cover and hide with our men - you get what you see. So I always insist that we should follow a regular skin care regime that keeps our skin clean, well maintained and as fresh as possible.
Once using a clay-based natural face mask, it will help tighten the skin, especially when used along the jawline and neck. This prevents the skin from scorching around these areas and can help reduce signs of visible chin and unwanted folds.
Clay-based facial cavities go into the pores to be cleaned, reducing the pores width and making them appear smaller.
7.Nourishment
Nourish skin by using a water-based moisturizer (for oily skin) or oil-based facial serum (for dry skin) on a clean face every night.
If you have the time and patience, mash a piece of (organic) mango or papaya and apply it on your face for a few minutes. The fruit will nourish and condition the skin. If your skin is very dry, you can include some cream obtained from full fat milk.
Internally, eat fresh fruits or boiled vegetables as much as possible. What we eat - shows on our face. Good skin is not always achieved in a salon, but also in your kitchen. A diet that is low on sugar and fat and rich in vitamin A, C and iron is recommended.
8.Cleaning
Avoid using harsh or medicinal soaps and opt for mild and natural formulations. Homemade and handmade natural soap is your best bet. As our skin ages, the products we use on them should be as milky and chemical-free as possible. The pH of our skin is around 5 and it is important to maintain this level. Read the product label, which can list a specific pH or say "pH balanced" or "pH neutral".
Use an astringent or toner twice a week to remove excess oil and grime from the surface of the skin. You can use pure rose water instead.
Apply an effective face scrub about twice a week to make the face appear blond and polished and free it from dead, dry and flaky skin.
6. Sun - spots and dark lips
While the sun is good for both your body and skin, over-exposure can cause skin to age faster and result in dark spots and pigmentation problems. I recommend a good sunscreen with SPF of 50 or higher. Try and opt for an oil-free build, so when used it does not feel sticky or oily.
Apply a freshly sliced lemon over the affected area, removing dark marks.
Before going to bed, use lip balm made of natural wax every night. Highly recommended if you have naturally dry or lip or smokers spots.
10. Lines and Wrinkles
Crow's feet or fine lines around the eyes can be treated using eye serum on a regular basis.
Using a heavy-duty cocoa butter-based face cream daily can reduce the lines of laughter or under our nose and under the lips. Products that promote or contain collagen and elastin are always a good choice.
Lines on the body, especially the fold areas and your back before going to bed, are best revealed by applying a rich body lotion. Choose a product that is light and non-greasy.
My choice of the five best anti aging grooming products:
1. Organic Skin Mask by Valley View Organic
Tumblr media
Muskul made with organic leaves and herbs based on this soil does wonders for dull skin, making it appear both fresher and stronger.
2. Vitmin C Glow Sheet Mask by Body Shop
Tumblr media
Enriched with Vitamin C, this peel-off mask nourishes and conditions the skin.
3. Gold Bounce by Body Shop
Tumblr media
This holiday on the mask is vegetarian and is made with flowers and natural extracts. Works on your skin while sleeping.
4. 8 in 1 rejuvenation facial oil by Verdic Elexir Naurish Mantra
Tumblr media
This ultra-rich face oil is rich in cannabis seed oil and adds moisture and hydration to dry and lifeless skin.
5. Homemade Serum for Healthy Hair by Nina
Tumblr media
This all natural blend of essential oils with black seed oil as a major ingredient is extremely effective for nourishing and conditioning the hair.

NONA SIMONE
On confidence and her moisturizing natural hair care routine.
Hi, I am Nona Simone. I am 21 years old, born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. I love modeling, acting, dancing and singing. I enjoy expressing myself creatively; it fills my soul with joy. I use my gifts  and talents God has blessed me with to be a blessing/inspire and serve others. I create for the Glory of  God. My goal is through me others will see him.
Tumblr media
I’m very simple and love all natural products. I use Dr. Bonner’s Lavender organic hemp soap on my face and body then moisturize with either Shea butter or coconut Oil. When my skin needs extra hydration, I cleanse with the Indian Healing Clay, combined with apple cider vinegar. I leave it on for about ten minutes then rinse once my face is really tight. When I need to exfoliate, I combine coconut oil, olive oil, and brown sugar, for a homemade scrub. I also make sure I drink lots of water too.
I purchase most of my make-up products from my local drugstore. For primer, I use Maybelline’s Illuminating Primer with sunscreen. For foundation, I’ve been using it for years, and it hasn’t let me down yet, L'Oréal True Match. My number one make-up product is mascara. I love dramatic, long, full eyelashes. I coat them with Covergirl’s Colossal Big Shot and follow up with NYX black liner. I don’t really do much to my eyebrows. I prefer their natural thickness. I finish off with MAC’s Mineralize Skinfinish powder and highlight with Laura Geller’s Universal Setting Powder, for a natural glow.  Most of the time I love a natural nude lip, but for a lovely night I would do a more dramatic lip.
Tumblr media
About three years ago, I decided to change my regular hair regimen. I was over dying and straightening my hair, so I transitioned to using all natural products. The journey has been amazing. I co-wash more and shampoo less, only when my scalp needs to be clarified – which is about three times a month. For shampoo, I use Camille Rose Sweet Ginger Cleansing Rinse. For co-wash, I love As I Am's line. Both of these cleanse my hair really well, and leave my hair smelling so good. I am sure to avoid heavy creams which tend to weigh my hair down, so I prefer a light leave-in conditioner and a light oil for extra moisture. I love Shea Moisture’s Black Castor Oil Leave In conditioner and follow-up with coconut oil, or Palmers Coconut Hair Dress Pomade. When my hair needs extra moisture, I will do a hot oil treatment with olive oil or use Shea Moisture’s Jamaican Black Castor Oil deep conditioner.
My style is unpredictable. It’s always changing because I am always learning how to dress better and put pieces together. I love style that is well put together. I get a lot of my fashion inspiration from social media, especially Pinterest, which is my favorite. I enjoy following celebrities like Karreuche, I enjoy her trendy looks from stores like Zara and Topshop. Mostly everything she wears, I would wear. I feel I relate to her style very much. She is short and petite like me. My favorite online shopping is Boohoo.com.
Tumblr media
Lately,  I’ve enjoyed frugal shopping from trendy consignment and thrift shops, where I find the best deals on the best designer brands. New York is full of these bargain houses. I have learned it is all about wearing style with confidence. Investing in your wardrobe is so important. I feel empowered and important in something chic. Personal style has no rules, I feel like a queen and I certainly enjoy presenting myself as one.
Tumblr media
I grew up raised under Jewish teachings, and I wear a necklace given to me by my grandmother, which I cherish. It has the Hebrew character ‘chai’ which means “ life”. It reminds me to allow myself to live always. I was gifted with a cross pendent, which reminds me that I am a child of God and that I can do all things through him. I don’t always wear it but I love keeping it with me. As a child we celebrated Passover and  Rosh Hashanah with the most amazing dinners. Growing up I enjoyed writing my thoughts in diaries--sharing my everyday feelings. Over the years I have adapted to regular entries with personal journaling. My favorite item of clothing that I love is my dashiki like African shirt. I love embracing my culture and feeling connected to my roots. I hate feeling like I need to change myself in order to fit in with society. I am half black and I love the Caribbean/African culture; whenever I wear it I feel like an African Queen. We should all dress like whatever makes us feel like royalty.

Every skincare/beauty product I use
Soap and glory face soap and clarity face wash. I love this stuff I feel like it really works my face and it gets off my makeup too
Glossier milky jelly cleanser. I have used this pretty much all year so far until getting the new one above. It’s still not empty however so I still use it occasionally when I remember. I like to use it to remove makeup an get a double cleanse with the other one
Garnish whole blends repairing shampoo. I was low on shampoo and this was the only one at the store from this brand so I bought it. Omg it smells amazing.
Shave ocean breeze conditioner. I ran out of conditioner and this was the only thing they had at my schools market. It smells good but I need to use a lot to really condition.
Dove deep moisture body wash. This is honestly the best body wash.
Feeling beautiful charcoal and black sugar facial polishing mask. This isn’t my favorite mask cause it’s more like a scrub but it does really well. I’ve only gotten back into using it recently.
Victoria’s Secret pink detox mask charcoal face and body mask. I use this mask religiously omg. It does a good job of getting out my blackheads.
Valjean labs glow serum. I use this to help with my redness but I haven’t noticed a big difference.
Clean and clear dual action moisturizer. This has salicylic acid in it which is another help to my blackheads.
Glossier balm dot com rose. This lip balm is the balm and that is all.
Ari by Ariana grande. My go to perfume is of course her og scent. I’ve tried them all but cloud.
Victoria’s Secret Bare vanilla. I bought this on Sunday cause I loved the smell and I still do. I’m gonna alternate perfumes now because I love both.
Billie shaving cream. The best scent ever and amazing cream. It’s not super thick to clog up the razor but you can see it making it easier to see missed spots.
Billie body lotion. I don’t ever really try to match scents especially since I have a bottle and a half of this lotion. It’s super moisturizing.
Bath and body works cucumber melon body scrub. If you don’t exfoliate you are loving life wrong my friend.
Billie blush razor. The cart luges literally last me a month because there soap encased and I love the magnetic holder.
Secret deodorant. I’m not particular about my deodorant as long as it works.
Coconut oil. I use this to help with redness on my face after a tip I read online recently. It also makes my face super soft.

Best home hair removal products that are affordable and easy to use
Whether a woman wants to let her body hair grow free or get rid of her is her prerogative. But if the latter is their preference, using the best hair removal products at home should not be a chore. It should not be an expensive routine to keep up. And as someone who almost always passes on a Brazilian (a word: Ouch) and eyebrow wax, I sign up with everything, especially now that the weather warms up and I want my chicks to thrive in the summer sun.
Hair removal at home is not always the most convenient or convenient option, but it saves money and offers maximum privacy to those who prefer to go without the salon or spa. Regardless of the part of the body you are targeting (even in the lower regions), ingrown hairs are inevitable. So, before you look at the best hair removal products for the home, you should do the following four things when ingrown animals try to steal your pleasure.
1. Leave her alone. "First, do not try to pluck, pull, shave, grow, or cut hair in the area where you have ingrown hair," says Karen Young, CEO and founder of Oui Shave. "They only make your skin more angry and possibly cause an infection. (But see # 3.)
2. Apply a warm compress and gently peel it off. We've become poetic about the benefits of facial exfoliation, and so does your body. If irritated, continue to use a soft washcloth soaked in warm water to soften the area for 10 to 15 minutes. Then use slow, circular movements to gently exfoliate with a salt or sugar scrub. Best home hair removal products that are affordable and easy to use

This removes dead skin cells and regenerates the skin. Pre-shave exfoliation prevents shaving injuries and lifts the hair away from the skin for a more thorough shave, "says Young.
3. Free the trapped hair. You should only do this if you can see how the looped hair grows into your skin. "If you can not see the tip of your hair, go to step 4," says Young. "If you can see the hair, use a pair of pointed tweezers to extract it."

26 DIY Sugar Scrub Recipes to Make Your Skin Silky Smooth
It's been a harsh winter, and I must admit that my skin has come out of it looking a little worse for wear. I do have a few fallback products that I tend to reach for year after year to help revitalize my skin after the winter, but with my new year's resolution to try and make the switch from store-bought to homemade, I thought I should try and do something a little different.
I have a love-hate relationship with scrubs in general. Yes, they can help to get rid of dry areas and leave you looking luxuriously smooth. But, if you're not careful with which ones you use and how often you use them, they can also be incredibly harsh on your delicate skin.
The beauty of making your DIY sugar scrubs is that you have not only more control over the coarseness of the product, but also the scent. Whether you're settling down for a full evening of pampering or just having a quick scrub in your morning shower, you're bound to fall in love with one of these recipes.
DIY Sugar Scrub Recipes
1. Chocolate Coconut Sugar Scrub
My mom always laughs at me when I buy products that smell like something you'd want to eat, questioning why I would want to smell like food. Well, I love food, so food scents are something that appeals to me most.
I don't think that even my mom would object to using this Chocolate Coconut Sugar Scrub, even if it did leave her smelling like a chocolate bar. Something I like about this homemade scrub is the consistency of it. I find it incredibly annoying when a scrub is so dry that it crumbles and falls everywhere, wasting half of the tub, so I think that this liquid like texture would be far more effective and efficient.
2. Lemon Honey Sugar Scrub
The scents of lemon and honey are always soothing to me, as that's the classic remedy my granny makes up for us when we are ill. Those two scents along with lavender and rosemary would make this Lemon Honey Sugar Scrub perfect for an evening of pampering, especially in the bathtub.
This scrub is easy to make, all you need to do is combine all the ingredients. I like the fact that this recipe uses dried rosemary and leaves it in, meaning that the scent will be more enhanced along with the added exfoliant.
3. Whipped Grapefruit Mint Sugar Scrub
Hand on heart, if you asked me what my two favorite scents of body products to use in my morning showers are I would tell you grapefruit and mint. I find them both so incredibly refreshing, which is just what I need to get me feeling more awake and ready for the day ahead. With that said, I don't think I have ever tried something which includes them both together, so I am excited to try out this Whipped Grapefruit Mint Sugar Scrub.
Aside from that delicious scent combination, the whipped' aspect of this has sold it to me, as it isn't something I have ever seen before. Being a big fan of whipped body creams, I can see myself loving this, and the consistency looks perfect for a shower.
4. Peppermint Sugar Scrub Bars
As previously mentioned, sugar scrubs can be a little messy. Especially if you're using them in the bathtub, more coarse scrubs can leave you feeling like you're laying on a sandy beach. These Peppermint Sugar Scrub Bars address that problem just perfectly in my opinion.
The peppermint scent comes from an essential oil, which means that if you wanted to, you could swap out the peppermint oil for another one, like vanilla or lemon. These bars would be incredibly quick and efficient to use in the shower, and because they're homemade and inexpensive, you don't have to use them sparingly, like you might ones you bought from a store.
5. Calming Sugar Scrub
I love the sound of all the ingredients in this Calming Sugar Scrub. As soon as I saw it I wanted to make some for my mom, she's always working herself off her feet, and I know that her favorite part of the week is a long soak in the bath on a Sunday evening.
A couple of my friends have been using ‘bath teabags' recently, which are exactly what they sound like, large teabags specially made to be used in baths. I don't know how I feel about that, but you do get some incredibly lovely and calming smelling teas, so I wouldn't mind having an aspect of that in the water. The coconut oil in this recipe would leave your skin so nourished and smooth.
6. Lemon Lip Sugar Scrub
I love lip scrubs; they are a total lifesaver throughout winter as a quick fix for chapped lips. I don't like to use them too often, preferring to lather on the chapstick, but if I am going out and my lipstick just isn't sitting right then I will use a scrub before applying it, and my problem will be solved.
The consistency of this Lemon Lip Sugar Scrub looks like it would be rough enough to do the job extremely well, but still soft and nourishing with the addition of the jojoba oil so as not to damage your lips. It's a nice compact size, so you could pop it in your handbag for days when your lips are just not playing ball.
7. Essential Oil Sugar Scrub
This Essential Oil Sugar Scrub recipe is incredibly simple, which I am a fan of. Very often the best beauty and skincare products are those with the fewest ingredients, something which just does the job without all the faff.
The ratio of oil to sugar in this recipe is a little different, using more oil than other methods I have seen. I was unsure of this at first, but after thinking about it, I realized that this would be perfect for anyone with sensitive skin, or skin which doesn't usually react too well to scrubs. The sugar wouldn't be too harsh, and the oil would ensure that your skin is perfectly moisturized throughout the process of using it.
8. Chai Sugar Scrub
I don't know whether I want to eat this Chai Sugar Scrub or use it on my body, or even do a bit of both. I am not the biggest fan of coffee, so when I am out and about and need a little break, I always treat myself to a Chai Latte.
I can't stop imagining the scent of this, with the Chai tea along with the brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and honey. It sounds so warming, almost like some sweet treat after it has been freshly baked. This recipe would take minutes to bring together, and I think that if you put it in a pretty jar with a cute label and ribbon, it would make the loveliest gift for a friend or loved one.
9. Sugar Hand Scrub
Dry hands are a pest throughout winter, and though I don't suffer from them too badly, I know a lot of people who do and would therefore benefit from this Sugar Hand Scrub.
Although this scrub can be used anywhere on the body, it's especially great for the hands and looks easy to make. Even if dry hands isn't something that you have problems with, I think using this scrub would still be a lovely treat, with the simple ingredients leaving your hands feeling extra soft. The use of cane sugar in most DIY scrubs is due to its larger size lending it to be more affecting in getting rid of any dead or rough skin.
10. Sweet Vanilla Sugar Scrub
I love all vanilla scented products, so before I even opened this recipe, I was half-way in love. Luckily for me, the recipe itself lived up to my high hopes and expectations.
This Sweet Vanilla Sugar Scrub can be used anywhere on the body, which is the beauty of all homemade scrubs. I love the fact that the recipe includes a little run down of the benefits of each ingredient it uses, something which is incredibly useful for a sugar scrub beginner like myself. This is one of the only recipes I have found that actively adds vitamin E, an ingredient which I already find incredibly useful on my skin. Although the consistency of this sugar scrub is a little looser than what I would usually go for, I reckon the scent would be entirely worth it.
11. Rose Petal Sugar Scrub
As someone who isn't usually the biggest fan of rose scents, I still think this Rose Petal Sugar Scrub looks like it would be an absolute delight to use.
I love the story behind this scrub, a woman who could not bear to let her beautiful bouquet of roses go to waste. This recipe only uses three ingredients, all of which are inexpensive and easy to come across, you could even use roses from your garden if you have any. The mixture would be very dry, so you would have to be a little more careful when using it. With that said, however, you could easily take inspiration from another sugar scrub recipe and add oil to the base to make it stick together better.
12. Lavender Sugar Scrub
Lavender is such a calming scent, and it is hard to find someone who doesn't think so. The South of France was frequented by my family when I was younger, and I have the best memories of running down rows of lavender with my little sister.
I like the fact that, as well as its essential oil, this Lavender Sugar Scrub recipe has actual lavender buds mixed with it. Not only will this better enhance the smell, but it makes it look incredibly pretty. The recipe doesn't specify which type of sugar to use, so you could experiment with different ones, or even mixtures of more than one, before finding the texture that is right for you.
13. Cucumber Mint Sugar Scrub
This Cucumber Mint Sugar Scrub sounds like something you would be offered at a fancy spa, and I am all about anything that helps me to create that real spa experience in my own home for a fraction of the price.
Any skin products including cucumber always feel so soothing and cooling on the skin, and I can't imagine that this one would be any different. It sounds like the freshest of scents, making it perfect for a morning or post busy day shower. I like the look of the consistency, although it doesn't contain too much oil, the cucumber will add moisture and should hold it together nicely, perfect for scooping out of the jar.
14. Unicorn Sugar Scrub
If you are looking for a breath of quirky and fun air amongst the floral and the fruity, then look no further than this Unicorn Sugar Scrub. I can honestly admit that I have not hopped onto the recent unicorn trend that seems to be everywhere, but I can't deny that this scrub looks incredibly fun.
I love anything colorful or glittery, and this has both. Of course, both the color and the glitter are entirely optional, but why not. These layered bottles of sugar scrub with the little stars throughout would make the most lovely gift, especially for any unicorn obsessed women in your life. I know that I certainly have a fair few cousins and friends who would go crazy over them.
15. Apple Cinnamon Sugar Scrub
This Apple Cinnamon Sugar Scrub would have you feeling like your bathtub or shower was one big pie, and I have absolutely no objections toward that.
I definitely did not expect this recipe to include fresh apple, but I am incredibly glad that it does, and think it would give a much more realistic apple scent compared to an essential oil which can often be sickly sweet. This will, of course, add moisture to the mixture too, and we all know that apple and cinnamon are a scent and taste match made in heaven. This scrub recipe has a couple more steps involved in its preparation, but I do not doubt that it would be entirely worth it.
16. Essential Oil Sugar Scrub Bars
These are the cutest little heart shaped Essential Oil Sugar Scrub Bars. I like the fact that these have soap as part of the base, meaning that they double up as a body wash in the shower on top of being a scrub.
Although you might not think so with them being a hard bar, using this on more sensitive skin could be far more gentle than using a regular sugar scrub. This way you can apply the desired amount of pressure, and the sugar will be well combined with the other elements of the recipe, making it less rough than a more dry, loose sugar scrub. The color element is optional, but I think it makes them look prettier, especially if you were planning on giving these to someone as a homemade gift.
17. Spiced Orange Sugar Scrub
Even though the festive season is now behind us, I would never refuse to cover myself with something that has a spiced orange scented. The weather outside can still be treacherously cold, and I am a big fan of doing little bits and bobs around the house to make sure that it is as warm and cozy as possible. I feel like making this Spiced Orange Sugar Scrub for the shower could just be a new one to add to the list.
This recipe contains none other than pumpkin pie spice, which is bound to make it smell delicious, especially along with the orange essential oil. I think to enhance the pie-like scent and feeling of this sugar scrub I would stick to using brown sugar.
18. Apricot Sugar Scrub
I am a big fan of apricots, both their taste and smell, but I must say that they aren't featured in beauty or skin products very often. Maybe I'm shopping in the wrong stores, but it is far less likely that you will find an apricot shower gel than you will a strawberry or raspberry one.
This Apricot Sugar Scrub sounds like the perfect summery skincare product DIY. I don't know how strongly scented apricot oil itself is, having never used it before, but if it isn't strong enough to match your preferences, then the recipe directs you as to how to add essential oil in along with it. The incredibly simple recipe only has three ingredients, make that two if you'd rather not add color.
19. Cherry Blossom Sugar Scrub
When I first started school, our playground had a huge cherry blossom tree on the grass. We used to spend our entire lunch breaks collecting the flowers which had recently fallen, then weaving them into bracelets or sticking them through the braids in our hair. I want to include this Cherry Blossom Sugar Scrub here purely because of those happy memories.
Cherry blossom has such a beautiful scent, and I love it because it is floral without being too overpowering. This scrub looks so beautiful with the whole petals through it; I can imagine using this in the bath would leave the water bejeweled with them. It would be really fun to try adding different flower petals into this recipe too, making it even more colorful and beautiful.
20. Brown Sugar Lip Scrub
I recently had to throw out a sugar lip scrub that I bought from a store a while back. Don't get me wrong, I loved it but in time it just got dried up and bitty. When I went to repurchase two things stopped me, firstly the price, and then the following thought that it would probably be incredibly easy to make myself.
I was right, sure enough, sugar lip scrubs are incredibly easy and definitely inexpensive to make. I love the look of this Brown Sugar Lip Scrub. Because it is one part sugar and two parts a more liquid-like ingredient, it looks like the perfect consistency to use on your lips, more like a gloss than sugar that will be all over your face. I think I'd struggle to stop myself from licking this one off my lips.
21. Lime Sugar Scrub
The fact that this recipe for Lime Sugar Scrub contains both the essential oil and the zest of the lime means that the scent will be prominent, which is just perfect for such a refreshing ingredient.
It suggests having a jar of this scrub at the kitchen sink, which isn't somewhere I have ever thought to put a scrub before, but now that I think about it, it would be beneficial. After cooking, especially with raw meat or fish, it would be lovely to use something that you know is really going to scrub every last bit off your hands. Our kitchen also has a door which leads out into the garden, so after tending to the plants, this scrub would be the perfect way to get rid of any pesky dirt.
22. Pina Colada Sugar Scrub
Who wouldn't want to smell like a fun and tropical pina colada? The combination of the coconut and pineapple would be enough to get me out of bed and into the shower even after the worst night's sleep.
I love the bright yellow color of this Pina Colada Sugar Scrub and think it would be a delight to use. You can add more or less coconut oil dependant on the consistency you desire, which is just perfect for my preference of a more held-together scrub. Sometimes you just need something like this on a busy or dreary day to transport you somewhere sunnier and warmer. If you want to go all out with the tropical dream idea, there is even a recipe for mini pineapple soaps to go along with the scrub.
23. Strawberry Sugar Scrub
Strawberry is such a well-loved scent, so if you were making a sugar scrub for someone else and struggling to decide which scent to go for, then this would definitely be a safe bet.
This particular Strawberry Sugar Scrub contains real freeze-dried strawberries, which I think is a nice way of both coloring the scrub and adding the strawberry scent to it. Along with that, you have vanilla, which I could go on and on about for longer than you would care to listen, I do love it. If you are looking for a sugar scrub which is a nice mix of sweet and fruity without being too overpowering, then this could be the perfect one for you.
24. Eucalyptus Sugar Scrub
I always like it when you can tell that a DIY has been tried, tested and improved before it is put out into the world, and I definitely get that feeling with this Eucalyptus Sugar Scrub. The author explains the trial and error of different ratios, meaning that you can pick which one you would like to use based on what you want to get out of the scrub.
I have always liked the scent of eucalyptus, but haven't used it much in products. That will most likely change now that I know all its health benefits, including that it's antibiotic, deodorizing and good for circulation amongst other wonderful things.
25. Raspberry Lemon Sugar Scrub
If you haven't already guessed by now, I am a fan of fruity and fun scents in my skincare products, and if they have a bit of color added in, then I am even more intrigued.
I like that this recipe comes with different scent combinations that you can try out, I love raspberry, vanilla, and strawberry enough separately never mind when they are combined to make even more loveliness. Out of the possibilities, I think my favorite one would have to be a Raspberry Lemon Sugar Scrub, which I think would be a sweet treat to use in the shower. The granulated white sugar will mean that the scrub is effective at smoothing the skin without being too harsh.
26. Cherry Almond Sugar Scrub
Now I love digging into a good Cherry Bakewell tart, and it's about time I was able to smell like one too. I know many women in my life who could do with a bit of pampering, and I think the best way to make that happen is to make them a lovely homemade gift that will prompt them to do so.
The almond oil in this Cherry Almond Sugar Scrub will leave your skin feeling luxuriously soft, whether you use it in a nice hot bath or a slightly longer shower than usual. The combination of the cherry and almond scents will mean that this sugar scrub is sweet but still soothing, and the cherry extract gives it the loveliest hint of pale pink color.
Conclusion to DIY Sugar Scrub Recipes
Sugar scrubs are so handy to have around the house, both for when you need to quickly get rid of some rough skin and fight off the effects of the winter or to add to a long evening of pampering. They also make excellent gifts, especially when put into pretty jars, adorned with a lovely label and tied with a colorful bow.
As a lover of all things summer, sweet and fruity, the sugar scrub that I am most desperate to make has to be the Pina Colada one. There are so many that are coming in close second though, like the Chai, the Grapefruit and Mint and of course that Brown Sugar Lip Scrub to have stashed away in my handbag for emergencies.
Did you previously realize how easy it is to make your own DIY sugar scrub recipes? Which scent do you think would make you excited to give yourself a good scrub down?
