Waning Crescent Over Vermont - I hiked up Mt. Ascutney for the sunrise a few days ago. And while I waited in the dim light, I watched the waning crescent moon rise. This is the lowest illumination phase of the moon (1%) before the new moon. These are the types of photographs that don’t really translate to small digital screens, they love to be printed big. Do you have any recommendations for looking at the relationship between Christianity & Capitalism? This isn't a random question; it's my undergrad thesis & I might as well ask the RS people here. And did you hear about the Dalai Lama saying how he wishes to have no successor after his death? I can't find many sources confirming it, but wouldn't that have negative implications for Tibetan Buddhism if their spiritual leadership is dismantled on top of the continued cultural revolution from China?

Max Weber and Karl Marx are probably your two best historical sources, I don’t know the more recent ones, but I guarantee you they exist. Followers?

As for the Dalai Lama, he’s hinted before that he might be the last one, but no, I don’t think it would have negative implications that would be more serious than the implications of a political battle between China and the Dalai Lama’s sect over who his successor would be. The Dalai Lama is also not the head of Tibetan Buddhism de jure, the current one has assumed the role of the head of diaspora Tibetan Buddhism, but there’s no reason some other person couldn’t assume that role.
