Swiftdaisy kittens was next on the list!

They all have songbird names because I think that Daisy would name with a theme. And this theme happens to be songbirds. Even though only Finchcrest really looks like her name.

We’ve got Cardinaldust- the goober. The silly. The only tom, a transmasc, of the sisters. He traded genders with his sister Robinberry. They’re best friends for life, Robinberry the troublemaker ringleader while the more cautious Cardinaldust just follows suit. They’re messy and chaotic and the clan loves them so much because they still do their chores and help the elders even when they’re not asked to.

The dust and berry just sounded cute, I have no real justification for the names lol.

Meanwhile, Finchcrest is the neat, prissy outlier to her siblings. She’d probably be best friends with Blossomfall, insulting and judging everybody in sight, until Blossomfall insulted one of her siblings, so they get into a fight and start telling the clan the other is horrendous, and then the next day they’re besties grooming where the other can’t reach (totally not lesbians though… totally……)

I dont ship, ever, except for one single warrior cats ship.

That ship is a rarepair that only works in an au that disregards a significant plot point to exist.

Swiftpaw x Daisy. (His name would be changed to my preferred full name for him but I don't want anyone confusing him for an oc)

Swiftpaw lives, but not without incredible trauma. He and Daisy meet in arc 2 and fall in love but beat around the bush for an arc or so while she has a failed relationship attempt with Spiderleg. Once he leaves, swift finally steps up and decides to help her raise Toadkit and Rosekit. He's their dad now.

Swift and Daisy help each other in many ways. Daisy helps Swift regulate his trauma responses. Swift helps Daisy by being someone she can trust and lean on for support. Daisy helps Swift learn to better himself and be more than his experiences and actions. Swift helps Daisy with the kids & supports her and Mousewhisker when she wants to try to interact with her first ex again.

Yada yada. It just makes sense to me now and whenever i see swift with anyone but daisy i take a moment because its just inherent to me.

What is... a rarepair?

Rarepair refers to a rare pairing inside a fandom. This means that a pairing that someone ships does not have a lot of fanart or fanfiction about them or anything at all.

While crackships are always rarepairs, these rare pairings can make a lot of sense in canon, but they are just not that popular. But they often also refer to shipping characters that do not interact in canon at all, maybe not even know each other in the source material.

There are no exact numbers on when a pairing is considered a rarepair but some characteristics are that the tag on AO3 does not have a lot of hits and that most of the entries were written by the same person.

Shipping a rarepair can be frustrating, when you feel like you are alone in your love for a pairing, but it can also be fun to be able to shape the pairing together with two, three other shippers however you want them, because you basically own the ship by solely contributing to it.

Last night I was thinking about what concepts I'd like to see in Warriors fanfics. One of which is about a kittypet joining a clan and becoming a medicine cat. Then that got me thinking about Moon Rise. If I had better knowledge/interest in medicine cat stuff back when I first came up with SOTM, I probably would have went with that idea

So allow me now, for shits and giggles, to present the Medicine Cat!Swiftcloud AU. (Warning: Semi spoilers for Moon Rise, in case someone hasn't caught up with the book yet)

The first chapter of the story would relatively be the same.

When Hana goes into the meadow, she would be met by Frostpaw instead of Shadowpaw and things would start off like I'd written about in this post here

During the camp tour, Swift would take special interest in the medicine den, finding the smell of herbs inviting. And it doesn't help that there's a pretty apprentice hanging inside

When Swift gets attacked in the meadow the next day when she returns to join Grassclan, she doesn't exactly fight back. She fends Shadowpaw off sure but she doesn't attempt to launch a counter strike.

When confronted about this shortly afterwards by Tigerfang, Swift explains she's not super into fighting. This is discussed more later with Whitestar when they arrive at camp.

Whitestar, before naming Swift an apprentice, presents an offer to the young cat. She can train alongside Frostpaw and Shadowpaw, learning to fight and whatnot. Or she could choose a more pacifist lifestyle and become a medicine cat.

Swift thinks for a few moments and decides that she'd like to try being a medicine cat

Whitestar nods and finally gives Swift the name Swiftpaw. Although reluctant, she assigns the new apprentice to Snowfrost who seems indifferent about becoming a mentor

Its difficult for Snowfrost to accept Swiftpaw as her apprentice. She teaches her well enough but seems emotionally distant from the young molly. Snowfrost's attention is set more upon Mistypaw, the other medicine cat apprentice.

When Goldensong falls ill after Poppycloud dies, both Swiftpaw and Mistypaw are trained by Snowfrost. Swiftpaw is almost completely ignored during this time, being caught up on lessons by Mistypaw when she isn't busy. Meanwhile, when she isn't being taught, Swiftpaw busies herself by looking after Goldensong and restocking herbs. The mystery of Goldensong's illness is solved quicker as a result.

When Whitestar goes to give Mistypaw back to Goldensong, Snowfrost objects. She requests that she continue training Mistypaw instead, and Goldensong can take on Swiftpaw. But Whitestar refuses to grant her wish

After this, Swiftpaw confronts Snowfrost about trying to have her reassigned. She's heartbroken, unable to understand why her mentor doesn't want her. Snowfrost explains that she is Mistypaw's aunt and would feel better training her herself. She also explains that as the senior medicine cat that she had a right to have Mistypaw as her apprentice-as Mistypaw had been named first. This sparks a small argument-complete with crying-and ends with Snowfrost apologizing to Swiftpaw, promising to take better care of her.

After this, the pair start to grow close to each other. Swiftpaw does well in her training and actually forms an almost familial bond with Snowfrost. Though some of the things Swiftpaw is taught seem..odd. Still, she doesn't question it, as Snowfrost is a very capable medicine cat.

A few moons later Swiftpaw is given her true medicine cat name alongside Mistypaw. Snowfrost chooses to name her Swiftdaisy, after her innocent, young at heart nature

I can't say much more about this au without giving out spoilers for later chapters of Moon Rise, so that's all I'll say for now. Maybe I'll come back to this post one day after the book has been finished and give it a more interesting plot.

I mean, I personally murder swiftpaw violently (he’s a lovely person but you gotta do what you gotta do). But as a concept? Love it

I’m a Ferndaisy enjoyer above all, but the idea of this sweet “southern hospitality” motherly loving lady and this scarred, traumatized strong warrior falling for each other goes hard.

Daisy so did the “who hurt you” thing 💀

Swift being the dad who stepped up (OR, the father of rose and toad) is such a lovely concept too.

Tbh I don’t rotate it in my mind often. I just think it’s cute.
