Writing Log: December 2023

December was...well, It Sure Was.

I wanted to take it easy. The universe decided "easy" meant a fever and half a dozen minor bits of bullshit.

Onto the log:

As you can see, I strayed from taking the flesh to pelt out a couple of oneshot PWPs. I have no idea what possessed me. The oneshots are complete, but taking the flesh needs a few more chapters. I'm glad I managed to write more actual PWPs for goyuu though.

My total word count for JJK is now 656,386, and the plot bunny count is 80. We need population control over here, folks.

The posted word count is a whooping zero because I was on hiatus this month.

seven sentence sunday

it’s a lot more than seven sentences, i’m aware, but at least it’s sunday. or so i’m told. 

Sam finally ducks his head and shoves his hands in his pockets. “You know, we started out as friends first,” he says, nodding over at Jeannie who’s now deep in conversation with Marcy. “I’ve been hearing about you both for a while.” 

And David doesn’t know what to do with that. Hearing what exactly? 

His face must be doing something because Sam glances over and snorts. “Nothing bad. Trust me. First it was just, ‘have you been to this store? It’s great.” His cheeks flush and he clears his throat. “She uses this hand lotion. It smells really good. Complimenting her on it was my opener.” 

“Good call,” David replies with a pleased and proud smile. 

“Then it was just funny stories, like: ‘my son’s little league coach makes them do math problems when they misbehave. Max got an A on his last test.’ Or ‘my friend who owns the store suggested this TV show and then casually mentioned he’d slept with the lead, but that can’t be held against the creative integrity of his acting performance.” Sam chuckles and shakes his head, like he still can’t believe that last story even though David knows exactly whom he’s talking about. “And then I got names,” Sam continues, smile going soft. “Patrick has the impressive child-wrangling skills. David makes the nice-smelling lotion.” 

David doesn’t tell him that he doesn’t actually make the lotion, he just sells it, but he’s touched all the same. And grateful that Sam chose to focus on that instead of his colorful dating history.
