i think quad dancers like the herons and silvia/lene are healthier for the game than the single dancers don't @ me

they promote more tactical gameplay by pushing high-risk high reward attacks of a larger number of your units into enemy attack ranges while simultaneously promoting better positional planning to be able to get the dance off on all 4 targets of your choosing while keeping your dancer safe and keeping all your danced units alive through multiple combats

modern dancers just brainlessly send the same juggernaut unit in again and again without as much care for positioning or planning while your roided up waifu or mc or whatever just kills everything

FE Alphabet Day 19: Silvia

Hubert von Vestra Pokemon lore under the cut

Most of Hubert's Pokemon were sought out with a specific purpose in mind, rather than him happening to find them, so their descriptions will kinda reflect that.

Beheeyem (Bertrand): Since psychic type Pokemon are so useful in day to day life, members of house Vestra are charged with finding and catching one to become their first partner. Hubert found his Elgyem in the dark corridors beneath the Imperial palace, unknowing at the time that he was actually there due to the presence of Those Who Slither In The Dark. Hubert makes very good use of Anthony's ability to manipulate memories in his many efforts to assist Edelgard from the shadows, though has found little success in using these powers to restore Edelgard's missing memories.

Crobat (Cornelius): After Edelgard was taken by TWSITD, Hubert's investigations led him to believe she was being kept beneath the palace, in the labyrinthine tunnels beneath. To aid his search(which unfortunatley proved fruitless in the end), he caught a Zubat. His Supersonic and Mean Look moves are favored by Hubert when he wants to capture someone alive.

Gengar (Garrik): Garrik is always kept outside of his Pokeball, hiding in Hubert's shadow, ready to strike at a moment's notice. Hubert is particularly fond of the paralysis side effect of his Lick attack. It did not escape Hubert's notice that he found such a newly formed Ghastly beneath the palace, so soon after Edelgard and her siblings were spirited away.

Magnezone (Morrigan): She was found acting as a sentry for TWSITD, and was captured by Hubert for later study. She showed aptitude for battle, and a willingness to follow orders. Since she is such a rare Pokemon in Foldlan, being found exclusively near members of TWSITD and in Shambhala, Hubert uses her very selectively in battle: to throw his enemies off balance, since nobody knows how to counter a Pokémon from this line.

Seviper (Sylvia): Wanting a convenient source of poison, Hubert caught Sylvia. When she is not assisting Hubert with his alchemy, she is patrolling around Edelgard, eating any Rattata or Raticate she can find.

Cacturne (Cain): Caught simply to balance out his party, Hubert has since found many many uses for the durable pins Cain's Pin Missile attack produces.

Pokemon AU

Breathe... Just breathe... It's going to be okay... Inhale... then exhale...

Natu growled and snarled, its beak still biting into her flesh as tightly as it could. She carefully lifted her hand and, slowing her heart rate as much as she could through controlled breathing, stroked the poor Psychic-type Pokemon's head. "Natu," she said, purposely calling its name. "Natu, it's okay. I know you've been hurt in the past, that's why I'm here."

"Pipiplup...!" Pip worriedly clung to her leg, staring up at her nervously.

She smiled, not minding the blood slowly oozing down her arm. "Everything's going to be okay. Natu, tell me what the issue is. Why did you fight? What hurt you? Tell me everything, and I will listen. Natu..."

She could see the darkness emanating from the small Pokemon slowly starting to die down. The pressure on her arm was starting to get lighter and lighter, as Natu soon regained its senses and slowly opened its heart back up, little by little. It wasn't fully healed or purified, sadly. But these things took time, and Sylvia fully intended to heal everyone she could. That's why she created this program. Why she held it in Sandgem Town, her home town, where there was plenty of land for a ranch outside of the overwhelming Jubilife City. Pip relaxed his tense little body, relieved that Natu let go. Sylvia whispered reassurances in Natu's ears and held it close.

She would do everything she could to make up for being Team Galactic's pawn.

Persona 5 AU (tw: suicidal ideation)

Rain always scared her, because following rain, almost always, was the rumble of thunder. Loud, abrasive, and bright. Days like this made her anxiety spike, so she did what she could to focus as hard as possible on her classes in an effort to distract herself. Unfortunately, it wasn't so easy with Japanese being her third language.

Still, she turned her head away from the windows, completely drenched in rainwater and steadily dripping down and down, and turned her gaze to the drawing she was making in her sketchbook. It wasn't amazing, but it was helpful. Doodling like this made her feel like she had at least a little bit of stability.

It would be okay. She'd die soon anyway, and no one would miss her. Why fear for her life when death was inevitable?

Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's AU

"Hey, I need a tester for this."

"On it." Sylvia walked over to the Runner in the garage and mounted it, putting on her helmet and double-checking the controls to make sure everything was in working order. "Say when?"

"Sure." Yusei pressed some buttons on his mini-monitor, screwed something shut on the Runner, reapplied the muffler, then started his simulation. "Now."

She rested her feet on the pedals and twisted the handles, watching the speedometer steadily increase in number. The smell of oil and grease permeated the whole room, and it only got worse as she revved the engine of the vehicle trying to get to the standard Turbo Dueling speed and ensure it was working alright. Before, when Satellite had yet to be rebuilt, she and Yusei had to do this kind of testing down in the underground tunnels, where a subway used to run. When something went wrong, they were forced to drag their Runners back to the hideout and fix it. Lifting the Runner using machines like this and testing the wheel speed and strength on a treadmill was much easier. No trekking back required.

Yusei lifted his hand to the headset in his ear. After Jack's little incident, they realized it would be more efficient to have clear communication through the helmet.

"Alright, that's enough. I see the issue now."

"Understood."

Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem AU

"The seventh platoon is missing!" a guard cried. "They were last seen traveling into the forest, but we lost track of them!"

"Find them!" Jagen yelled, stomping his spear into the ground. "We can't have cadets going missing! Send the pegasus knights! Search for them at once!"

"What's going on...?" Sylvia whimpered, glancing up at the princess.

Elice pursed her lips and cast her gaze out to the forest. "Trouble, it seems..."

Sylvia had been learning magic from Elice using a tome, a method she was unfamiliar with. Having no memories, no weapons, and no other ways to defend herself, she relied upon the princess's assistance in learning magic. Princess Elice had sensed the potential within her, but for some reason, Sylvia could naught make but an ember of flame anytime she tried.

Yet, even though she knew she could do nothing, she fretted. Wasn't her savior in the seventh platoon? What if she was endangered? Or worse, what if...?

Pegasus knights sliced through the air overhead, their steeds racing through the skies in the direction of the forest, led by Princess Caeda, His Highness's betrothed. She couldn't do nothing.

Ignoring Princess Elice's protests, Sylvia rushed into the forest, taking her book with her and praying she wouldn't be too late.

Pokemon Legends Arceus AU

"Has she always been like this?"

"Yes. Not a single word spoken."

"Kinda odd, isn't it? Shiro and Haru speak fine, and they fell from the sky too."

"You think it's a personality thing?"

"Discussing it now is a waste of time, and time wasted is lost. I merely want to help her get back on her feet."

"How can we help?"

She could hear them discussing what to do about her. Admittedly, she wasn't sure herself. The Diamond Clan had been kind enough to take her in when she'd apparently fallen from the sky, and they even took their precious time to teach her their language and traditions. She was grateful, but nervous. What happened when they discovered she truly was wasting their time? Would she be kicked out? She didn't want that.

In truth, she was merely afraid. She spoke no words in front of the others not because she couldn't talk, but because she couldn't bring herself to. Instead, she helped where she could without words. She befriended some Pokemon and helped them along on their way, but did her best to avoid greeting human visitors. Whether they were the Pearl Clan, the Ginkgo Guild, or those Galactic people, she tried to make herself look busy and blend in as much as she could. However, Clan Leader Adaman had other plans.

Pearl Clan Leader Irida and Galactic Agents Shiro, Rei, and Akari now stood before her, and the white-haired Shiro would not stop staring at her, no matter how much she tried to avoid his gaze. He was persistent, she'd give him that.

"Sakura," Shiro finally spoke up, calling her name. She glanced up at him, turning her body away defensively. "Tell me; did you fall out of the sky with one of these?" He reached out his hand, holding something. Sakura's eyes widened in recognition.

It was an Arc-Phone.

sent in my messages: you don't have an askbox for me to drop this in anyway list 5 best fire emblem dancers TOP FIVE BEST FIRE EMBLEM DANCERS. Dancers, or "refreshers" are my all time favourite Fire Emblem class. It was really hard to whittle it down! In descending order. 5. Lene Great storyline, strong relationships with other characters! I love Lene's softness, her connection to Ares and their sweet & sour dynamic, the way she begins as an outsider to Seliph's cause, and her *iconic* green and purple redesign from the TCG. Especially juicy with Sylvia/Levin and their delicious parent/child conversation. 4. Reyson Whatever my overall Tellius feelings, the bird tribes storyline is great. Reyson's whole concept -- an obligate pacifist raised among fierce warriors -- is delightful, and his ties to both bird kings are great. I love the way he admires Tibarn and resists his own peaceful nature, and who doesn't love a beautiful bitchy twink? 3. Sylvia Lene's mum also made it on the list. Sylvia is in so far over her head. She reflects the major Act 1 theme of "history happens to you while you aren't looking." When she joins the army, she's in her pay grade. By the end, she's SO far out of it but keeps doggedly pushing on with girlish determination. I especially love Levin/Sylvia and how she represents freedom and escape for him. 2. Nils Nils is very special to me. The characterization I love with him is how grown up he is, how mature. He wants to be the one to protect his older sister. He sees himself as an adult and has all these dark feelings of bitterness, jealousy, frustration, and longing all going on t once. The push and pull between missing home, loving Ninian but hating humans, and wanting his sister to be happy creates an impossible dilemma for him. It's great. 1. Ninian Oh SHOCKER it's the queen, here on top. Ninian is one of my all time comfort characters. I adore her. She rewired my brain. I love her beautiful, delicate character design, evoking frost and deep snow, but my worship of her aesthetic pales in comparison to her story. The anguish, the guilt, the self-loathing, the heart-beating-in-your-throat hope and the crushing despair, the tragic twist and the happy ending, it's all flawless to me. The sight of Eliwood bridal carrying her into their ending never fails to fill me with joy. She is my everything.

2. Talk about a notable time a narrative or character has looked you dead in the eyes and sad "fuck your plan, here's what we're actually doing."

basically ALL kuroken and daisuga scenes in Unravel -- they were not supposed to be such major parts of it but they took over as I wrote them and read more of them. especially the last kuroken chapter where kuroo almost dies lol. also in kintsukuroi, Kenma was not supposed to be sa'd -- that literally came out of nowhere. also in thantophobia: turquoise chapter 4 was a huge surprise, especially the scene with the cop.

11. What's something neat you've learned while doing research for something you're writing? Also, how much do you worry about doing research in general?

okay I don't know if this counts but I was researching Japanese funeral rites for the stars are already dead and I found this one article talking about cremation and it said "In a Japanese style cremation, the coffin is placed on a tray in the crematorium. The family then witnesses the sliding of the body into the cremation chamber, scarring small children for life." And while I am not judging and fully believe this, the way this is written absolutely SENT me and I always think about it.

I do try to do basic research on things, especially because I mostly write for anime that takes place in Japan. I try to look into specific customs and places, but I'm usually not too specific. With the Unravel series, there is also a lot of medical and jury stuff, and I actually do a lot of research on healing times and severity of injuries now. I also do research on characters, looking for little details about them that I could include in a throw away comment (like Mattsun working at a funeral home post time skip, so he easily could tell what the zombies were)

19. What are some books or authors that influenced your style the most?

ohhhh this one is hard. Honestly, I don't read much other than fanfiction nowadays ':) I'm a poetry fan because I like the pretty way words can paint a picture and try to be somewhat poetic with my writing sometimes, so I'm a big fan of Keats, Mary Oliver, Wordsworth. Virginia Woolf is frustrating but I love her, and Sylvia Plath (The Bell Jar). Ocean Vuong is another author I love right now.

SIGF is my favourite fanfic writer, she's amazing at fire emblem stuff, and I always have her in the back of my mind when I'm writing and aspire to write as well as she does. A couple other fanfic writers inspiring me include luneiris, just_quintessentially_me, ChaoticFriendly, Mooifyourecows, to name a few (gotta stop before this turns into a rec list lol)
