i started watching star trek the original series with only vague prior knowledge of anything star trek. and while im only like. 13 episodes into the first season,

man, this game has everything

fleury missing the puck on the first/second shot of his very first mens world championship game,

crosby starting shit and punching an opponents helmet off, looney tunes style, and getting a penalty before even having scored a goal in the tournament,

latvian goalie putting out some fleury-style moves and just generally standing on his head in the net,

fights and skirmishes, with sid involved in the majority of them,

players randomly falling over both in the middle of the ice and over each other,

certified flower acrobatics,

flower showing off with some glove action,

questionable boarding situations,

so many goddamn sticks broken and/or just left lying on the ice,

fleury having himself a venture past the puck drop circles to play a puck,

squidney escalating shit again,

certified flower poke-check action,

a lat player randomly keeling over seconds after a random third period puck drop,

canada scoring while a man down but unable to put one past on a powerplay,

canada scoring a goal but the bench, refs, fans and at the very last the lat goalie realising they did lmao,

squidney starting shit yet again and getting put in timeout again,

the myth of Goalie Interference making an appearance,

aww and flower getting the best player of the game for team canada.. thats really nice

(also quite funny of them cause they picked him and the only lat guy who scored the goal on him, having them take a photo together and shake hands lmao)

and generally just an interesting, fun, fast paced game

also i love the commentators of the broadcast im watching appreciate and discuss flowers play/performance but also his antics/personality

you know, its actually a great thing that im watching a playthrough from a guy who plans to do a 100% run and not playing the game myself, because, i would Not have managed not to spoil the Hans romance for myself and as a result Would be fighting (and losing) not to skip every optional sidequest as id be making a beeline to always get to Hans and find or save him as soon as possible
