“I think you look cuter with me.”

 The pout on Yoongi’s face as he crossed his arms across his chest wasn’t a new sight for the others walking through the halls. The infamous pout seemed to be the only face that Min Yoongi could make, though the thought of anything other than the pout scared most of the other students. This pout, however, seemed to be aimed at something and it was only redirected when Yoongi was shoved from his left by none other than Hoseok.

 “Who are you glaring at? They’ve got to be dead by now, with that look you’re giving them.” Hoseok mumbled, mostly to himself as his eyes tried to lock onto whatever was occupying his silent friend. Yoongi could only scoff, eyes rolling in his head as he took a step to the right to allow Hoseok more room to search for Yoongi’s target. When Hoseok straightened out from his slight stumble, frown shooting Yoongi’s way when he caught his balance, his eyes immediately found their way past a doorway and into the classroom across the way. “Wait, are you-”

 “Who does he think he is, flirting with her like that?” Yoongi whined, a deep frown taking over his face when Hoseok pulled his eyes away from the scene taking place in the classroom. With a raised brow, Hoseok’s arms came up to match Yoongi’s stance, his face breaking out into a smirk as Yoongi continued his whining. “He knows she’s off limits-”

 “You expected Jungkook of all people to listen to you?” Hoseok couldn’t contain his laugh as Yoongi’s frown seemed to deepen even more before it was facing the classroom once more. When Hoseok collected himself, he pretended to wipe a tear away before a sigh escaped him and he was watching them once more. “From what I’ve heard, they’re partners for a project.”

 “That’s even worse! They have to spend time together, lots of it.” Yoongi whined again, catching the attention of a few girls in a younger grade. With a glare, they were quickly scurrying on and pretending they hadn’t just heard the Min Yoongi whine. “Why did they have to be partners? Why couldn’t she have been paired with Taehyung or Jimin? They’re touchy but they actually listen to me.”

 “Why are you even worried about it? How could Y/N resist a cool, senior like you?” Hoseok patted his shoulder, laughing again when Yoongi’s face contorted into one of displeasure before he was pulling the latter off toward class at the sound of the bell.

 All day, Yoongi’s thoughts were about how her smile was so bright when she was looking at Jungkook, how she had giggled at something he had said. He tried imaging it was him instead, that warm smile she always had blessing him followed by her warm laugh. Yoongi would have thought he was crazy with how much she was the focal point in his thoughts, but he was past that point. He just wanted to be able to hold her hand and say she was his. The simple things, that’s all Yoongi really wanted and Jungkook was getting in the way of that.

 “You’ve been spaced out all day, Yoongi. What are you even thinking about?” Yoongi was scoffing when he felt fingers press into the back of his head, pushing it forward and almost causing his forehead to collide with the wood of his desk. With a glare, he met Jin’s questioning face before another scoff was leaving him. “Did you forget your brain at home this morning or something?”

 “Maybe.” Yoongi grumbled, looking around and then back at Jin with another pout. “Is class over already?”

 “Idiot, honestly. Hurry up or Namjoon is going to lay into you again, and I won’t stop him this time.” Jin was calling over his shoulder, making his way out of the classroom and toward the spot the others were probably waiting in. Yoongi felt his shoulders sag, getting up from his chair with his bag and cursing the fact he couldn’t focus with Y/N on his mind.

 “There’s the airhead! You haven’t floated off yet.” Taehyung’s hand clapped Yoongi’s back, his joke eliciting giggles all around from the others while Yoongi was shoving Taehyung away. He opened his mouth to retort, the words stinging on the tip of his tongue before Taehyung was gasping and looking over Yoongi’s shoulder at the entrance. “Since when does Jungkook talk to girls?”

 Yoongi couldn’t help himself, spinning on his spot and feeling the pout return when he realized the ‘girl’ Taehyung had mentioned was Y/N. His eyes raked up and down her body, sighing at the cute way she were clutching her books, her warm smile directed at the wrong person as he explained something to her.

 “Hey! I invited Y/N to hang out with us, if that’s okay with you guys? We have this history project and she was just going to come over to mine afterward.” Jungkook explained, his smile bright and youthful. It left a bad taste in Yoongi’s mouth as he let his eyes flicker over to her. Y/N’s smile matched Jungkook’s and her eyes scanned over the older boys standing in front of her before they landed on Yoongi. Not that he could tell for sure, but Yoongi thought maybe her smile got wider when she looked at him but he wasn’t sure about that. He was sure about the blush that was blossoming across his cheeks that he was trying to hide.

 “Let’s go, I’m starving.” Hoseok was groaning from the other end of the group and they were off to the parking lot. Half got into Jin’s car, the other into Yoongi’s and much to Yoongi’s annoyance Jungkook and Y/N ended up in his backseat.

 “Yoongi, can you turn the radio on or something?” Jungkook whined from the back, Y/N’s giggle following soon after when Yoongi shot him an annoyed look. For the second time, Yoongi’s mouth opened to retort but was cut off by Taehyung’s little gasp.

 “You should let Y/N listen to your music!” His suggestion made Yoongi tense up, eyes locking on the road in front of him as Taehyung turned in his seat to talk to the person in question. “Yoongi makes his own music, raps and produces, all that. He’s basically a sound cloud rapper, if he would put his stuff anywhere.”

 “Knock it off, she doesn’t want to hear-”

 “That’d be cool! I’d love to listen, if that’s okay?” Yoongi’s half threat, half self-deprecation died in his throat when her voice cut through the air. The hand on Taehyung’s shoulder dropped, his eyes meeting her’s through the rear view mirror in silent questioning.

 “R-Really? You want to listen to it?” Yoongi’s throat suddenly felt dry, tongue sticking out to swipe across his drying lips. When he saw her nod in the reflection, he was quickly plugging his phone into the aux at the next red light.

 His car was soon being filled with his music, Jungkook and Taehyung rapping along with what they could as a small smile sat on Yoongi’s features, eyes flickering to her to gauge her reactions with each new beat that filled the car. 

 When they reached the diner that had become the go-to after school hangout, Jungook and Taehyung were tripping out of the car to get inside and grab their usual table. Yoongi could only sigh, cutting off the car and stepping out of it with Y/N carefully doing the same. When her door was shut, Yoongi locked the doors and started to walk alongside her to the door. “So, what did you think?”

 “You’re really talented, Yoongi. I don’t think there was a song I didn’t like.” Y/N began, her smile taking over her face and leaving Yoongi breathless when he glanced over at her. His smile only grew on his own face as she gushed about his music, his cheeks turning pink once more as they eventually came to a stop a few steps away from the door. “Really, you should post that somewhere or send it to a company. You’ve got serious talent.”

 “Thank you, Y/N. You’re giving me a lot of credit I probably don’t deserve.” Yoongi laughed awkwardly, his hand coming up to scratch at a spot behind his head. When his eyes landed on Y/N’s face after staring at the ground, they widened at the frown resting on her face aimed right at him. “I-I mean-”

 “I’m not giving you enough credit, if anything! You’re crazy talented and definitely would make it far.” Y/N’s brows furrowed as she gave Yoongi a look and he could swear his heart was flying right out of his chest at the intense look of sincerity she was giving him. “Even if you decide to go for it and feel like no one likes your music, I’ll still be here to support you.”

 “S-Support me?” Yoongi gulped a little, watching as her mouth fell into a small ‘o’ shape, her cheeks turning pink this time as she let her eyes fall away from his face. It grew silent between them, Yoongi watching as she fiddled with her hands before he was carefully reaching out to take her hand in his. “You know, I saw you and Jungkook talking earlier. I don’t know if you’re just partners for that project but, I think you look cuter with me, honestly.” 

 He could feel her grip on his hand tighten at his confession, his face breaking out into a full blown smile as he watched her whole face break out into a bright red blush. He squeezed her hand back, her eyes flickering up to his before she leaned up to press a quick kiss to his cheeks. “We’re just partners, nothing else. He thinks you and I would be really cute together, too, for the record.”

 “Good, then you can go on a proper date with me tomorrow and he can’t be mad.” Yoongi’s smile was confident then, reveling in the shy giggle she offered before she nodded and with hands entangled, made their way inside to reach his waiting friends.
