Today I'm gonna play: Tales of Arise
I'm not too familiar with the Tales series. I've heard of Tales of Symphonia and I've played the demo of Tales of Vesperia, but I had a friend suggest this title to me, so I'm giving this a go.
I've reached near the end of the game so far, and I have to say what a blast it's been! From story to gameplay, Arise as a lot to offer.
A lot of the JRPGs I've seen tend to be very tropey, and this one shows it too, but I'm pleasantly surprised by how they subverted it. A young boy that's high spirited would usually be just that, but in this he has to deal with loss of a struggling relationship; a tsundere would typically constantly put their love interest on edge by assaulting them with violence and love, but here we have a woman from a ''superior'' race being the way she is because of a side effect and her people. The entire game revolves around the whole theme of discrimination between races and within races, and I think they've definitely pulled it off well. Everytime I thought "They didn't bring x topic up, is that a plothole? " they actually do, and I really appreciate an rpg that goes in depth to explain everything with their world and characters through gameplay. The last time I experienced this sort of depth was with Final Fantasy X, which is another game that also deals with racism as a subplot. And even with its depth, I felt it was done rather tastefully and not because there simply should be a conflict in the story. I really wonder who wrote the game because I could find no such info online.. Maybe I'll try again once I'm done with the game. However, I do find the villains so far to be somewhat weak, there are 3 that I can think of in the first half of the game that were interesting and gave a feeling of genuine intimidation, but the rest haven't hit as well as them.
Next up is the gameplay. I'm more of a fan of quick, responsive and flashy combat these days when it comes to action. My gold standard is the Kingdom Hearts series because of this. Initial impressions for Arise were just okay, but as the game progressed and you unlock more features, it definitely checks all boxes. I also appreciate that the game respects my time, (as RPGs do require a good level of commitment) where I never had to grind in excess and always stayed in par with my leveling pace. It also helps that there are items you can cook to increase your exp rate. Exploration is fun and rewarding as you find tons of items, and it's not too linear either! However I must say that the second half of the game has been falling off in regards to that. Including fighting the same bosses and backtracking all the way to the beginning for lore purposes, but this also thins out exploration of the few levels that are new near endgame, making them barren and plain. I can understand for budgetary reasons they probably couldn't add more, but a change to the plot could fix this while still maintaining what's been shown, as the game's lore focuses on the relationship between two races and two worlds. One cool addition for the narrative are the skits and overworld/combat dialogue that plays amongst characters. Seeing their chemistry and filling in bits of the plot is a huge plus. It feels like there's actual chemistry within the cast rather than just people that happen to band together because the share similar goals.
Character designs are a hit or miss. The main stars Alphen and Shionne do get lucky and have various wardrobe changes as the game progresses that represent their journey, but the same cannot be said with every character. Dohalim, a party member is one example of a character that gets the short stick. He is the only dark skinned character of the main cast, and is dressed up in what looks to be Egyptian inspired clothing. This looks fine and dandy until I have realized I've seen 0 connection between his attire and his origins and setting, so this leaves me confused. The same goes for Law, another party member who has clothing that resembles what video game characters wear for martial arts. But I've not seen anything that explains why it should look that way, other than because he fights with his fists. For a game that's been subverting tropes in terms of characterization, it hasn't done too well in terms of design. But on the plus side, I do appreciate Kisara's design (another party member) for dressing like an actual knight and not having to skimp out on armor for the sake of fanservice. The game does have outfit and accessory options however, which helps improve their appearances, but depending on the character you can either get great outfits, or very average ones. However I do appreciate the choices of colours and the use of contrast depicting themes and relationships for the characters. Alphen and Shionne contrast each other in way that complements them as the hero and heroine, for instance. And regardless of how they look, I still love them as characters (especially Dohalim and Alphen!) Music goes pretty grand, with orchestral feats all around, so it always sounds epic. You also get vocals for special moments such as openings and credits in Japanese, which are nice enough to hang around in your head. I couldn't hear much variety with it though, with the different landscapes the game offers, making it sound a bit too similar. Sound effect choices are good enough to let the player know if they're low on CP (Cure Points) or they can do a special attack. One big thing I like about the game is the overall navigation. Inputs are quick, shortcuts are (mostly) easy to access with some neat features like switching party members or leaders, and the menu tends to change based on where you are in the game which is a nice touch. Cutscenes can also be progressed through with a button which is probably for those who want to rush the game for any reason, or just want combat.
For a game that has a lot stuffed in but still have some minor gripes with, I think I can safely say that this is a great JRPG, and possibly my favourite fantasy-based anime JRPG. (specific I know, I tend to group my favourites like that). I'm looking forward to finishing it off!
Terms exclusive to the game: Skits - Optional voice cutscenes that the tales games have that revolve around the characters and/or their world Cure Points (CP) - The mana system in this game used for healing and buffs.

❖ Call me Syn, Syna, or Raina, or whatever comes to mind when you think of me~ ( be nice, there ain't none of that negativity here ! ) I'll also respond to Smut Santa / Saint Dickolaus! 😉
❖ I'm 29, about to be 30. I'm afab and use female pronouns. Happy mama of 2 beautiful babes~ They come first before anything else, so if I don't get back to you in a timely manner or like... at all... that's why. Or maybe I just don't like you. ( nahhh that's not it ... ? )
❖ Previously went by Taqsyq, but after YEARS of being out of the writing game and just off of tumblr in general, I've decided to start over fresh. I started Taqsyq when I was like sixteen or seventeen, still in my nerdy emo girl phase fuck I still am, and there is a shit ton of things that I just wanna run away from when it comes to that blog/username, including some very bad memories that I'm not going to discuss publicly. Plus, again: seventeen, nerdy emo girl phase. Everything I wrote on that blog was the highest form of OOC cringe like you just saw a stripper accidentally slam her hoo-ha on a pole bullshit for me. The only reason I'm not deleting it is because I'm a memory hoarder and despite all the bad, I want to keep it for all the good that happened there as well. Besides, it's the account that I ran imagine-reborn (an imagines blog for Katekyo Hitman Reborn) under and I figured, if nothing else, I could get a few laughs and maybe even learn a thing or two from how god-awful teenage me was at writing.
❖ My rules are simple. Be kind to all: this is a safe zone for EVERYONE. I would like to keep it that way. I don't have a list for what I will and will not write (yet), so all I can tell you is: ask. My inbox is always open. If I don't feel comfortable writing something, I'll let you know!
❖ Minors: as of right now, I don't think I'll be posting anything that is safe for your consumption, so I would very much appreciate it if you did not interact. If you are not a minor and do not have an age indicator, this rule applies to you as well. I check my follower list daily and I WILL block anyone that does not adhere to this rule.
❖ Requests: Closed ( not for long. I promise ;D )
❖ Currently, I only write for Hazbin Hotel. But I'm open for discussion on anything else on my list down below! I'm always looking for something new to watch/read, so if you have any recommendations, fire away!
❖ Series ; Current Hyperfixation: Hazbin Hotel
Anime : Naruto ; InuYasha ; Death Note ; Bleach ; Hellsing ; Soul Eater ; Fruits Basket ; D.Gray-Man [ Original / Hallow ] ; Kuroshitsuji ; Katekyo Hitman Reborn ; Ao No Exorcist ; Yu Yu Hakusho ; Full Metal Alchemist ; One Piece* ; Shingeki No Kyojin ; Kimetsu No Yaiba ; Jujutsu Kaisen**
* Still trying to catch up. This is a massive anime, and I've spent the better half of this past year trying to watch it all. I've made it to the Raid on Onigashima, the part where Yamato got his bracelets removed. Love him, by the way! <3
** Nanaminnnn~! I am not okay about anything with this man. <3
Manga / Manhwa : Everything mentioned above ; Noblesse ; Bloody Cross ; Area D
TV : Hazbin Hotel ; Game Of Thrones ; Vikings ; Avatar: The Last Airbender ; The Legend Of Korra ; Supernatural
Books : A Song Of Ice & Fire ; Twilight Saga why did teenage me think it was the greatest series ever shoot me now fucking christ
Video Games : Final Fantasy Series + Individual Prequels, Sequels, Movies, Remakes* [ 7 / 9 / 10 / 13 / 15** ] ; Tales Of Series [ Legendia / Zestiria / Berseria / Arise ] ; Devil May Cry Series ; Kingdom Hearts Series*** ; Star Ocean Series [ Till The End Of Time / The Divine Force ] ; The Legend Of Zelda [ A Link To The Past ] ; Sonic Series ; Spyro Series ; Shining Force Series [ 1 / 2 ] ; Lufia Series [ Fortress Of Doom / Rise Of The Sinistrals ] ; Diablo 3 ; Lunar [ Silver Star Story Complete ] ; Infinite Undiscovery ; to be updated as I remember / play.
* So far, I've only played the first installment of Final Fantasy 7 Remake because I currently do not own a PS5, but I'm working on it. The Compilation of Final Fantasy 7 is my absolute favorite series of all time. I could watch Advent Children ( original and complete ) on repeat, and I've played the original release so many times that I don't even need a guide to get a 100% on a brand new save ( Obsessed much? Yup ). I'm a completionist at heart, and this game is amazing and it provides a massive sense of nostalgia for me.
** SLIGHT SPOILER (maybe? You've been warned) Another amazing installment in the Final Fantasy series, this game is so well written in my opinion. It stays away from the bigger cliches you see in most RPGs ( eg : the guy gets the girl, friendship is the key to saving the world, etc. ), the characters are so individually complex, the villain technically wins and reminds you how easy it would be for you to become the same type of monster. Plus badass women that fix your car, lights up entire cities, wakes up the fucking Gods to fight on your side, takes the entire mercenary army they led and defects to your side? IN HEELS? YES PLEASE. It has one of the best enemy turned ally characters in the FF series; I'm just disappointed we didn't get to see much of Aranea after everything in Tenebrae. Also Ardyn has some serious daddy vibes, and I would literally give my left tit just to lick Aranea's boot ( oh, the things I would do to these two, phew~ ).
*** Let's be real here. The Kingdom Hearts Series makes zero sense if you didn't play all of them and you didn't pay attention to each and every detail, and I did neither. I played 2 and 3 when they originally came out, but in my defense: it doesn't look like a series that follows a singular story, something that I did not know at the time, and usually the series I play have an entirely different story per installment ( eg : Final Fantasy and Tales Of ). I tried to piece together the story from online synopses and second hand game play ( I watched someone else play ), and it just didn't work out. So, suffice to say, my knowledge of Kingdom Hearts goes about as far as basic facts regarding Organization XIII because they were my whole reason for trying the games in the first place. I'm still open to discussion about it, though! Just keep in mind my side will be very limited. Sorry!
To Be Read / Watched / Played : Helluva Boss ; Phantasy Star Series ; Final Fantasy Series [ 1-6 / 8 / 11-12 / 14 / 16 ] ; Diablo 4 ; Black Clover ; Hell's Paradise ; Fairy Tale ; The Seven Deadly Sins ; My Hero Academia
❖ Look out below for a face reveal!

WARNING! Sims 3 Harry Potter Wizarding World/Hogwarts Wizarding World/Hogwarts Forever/Whatever Other Name This Steaming Turd Comes Out As ... AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!
We’ve noticed just in time for Halloween the umpteen variations of a number of these walking abortions from CAW have reappeared.
Time for a little history lesson.
Tumblr media
Way back in 2013, an arseturnip from Oporto called Wisteriabrayan (aka Wisteriabryan aka HogwartsArchitect aka Hogwartsarchitet!) announced to the world they were recreating Hogwarts and Hogsmeade with absolutely everything in it, and weren’t going to allow such silly things as never having made a Simming world before or game resource limits get in their way.
(What is it about new CAW makers that they always want to start with a 2048 x 2048 land instead of the smallest like anyone normal with two braincells to rub together?)
It came out on the EA forum to mass EWMAHGAWDS, which quickly coughed and died the moment anyone tried to actually play it ...
Sounds a familiar tale, Sims 3 veterans?
Tumblr media
After months of complaints being ignored, he reappeared proffering the world once again the following March in a ‘fixed’ version.
His modus operandi largely followed the same pattern as before, lots of selective shots, plus accompanying video, lots of big lick promises about how awesome it was ...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
... but never any actual shots - never mind videos - of game play testing, a large warning flag to experienced Simmers.
Which was hardly surprising, because, contrary to his claims, Hogwarts Forever remained the same old big buggy mess ... and it was NEVER fixed.
Tumblr media
This was one of those times when people being ‘nice’ to a creator instead of giving them some ‘tough love’ led to lots of people being miserable.
The f**ker was 150 MB in size, took forever to load up in game (when it actually did ...), never mind the farrago of attempting to access the individual lots.
What ought to have been a warning flag in itself was someone from Texas called Vssdgames had attempted much the same way back in 2010 and it had also ended in tears.
Tumblr media
At 82 MB it was the same old buggy mess, only smaller, but perhaps the warning ought to have been noticed at the time.
Tumblr media
Oh! That’s reassuring!
Of course, with EA and the Simgurus having no shame in using Simmers as Beta testers for their glitched products, perhaps it should have come as no surprise that some felt no qualms about doing the same with their own offal.
There’s been umpteen ‘remakes’ of this which have done the rounds, but the same old problems arise - too much crammed into a flawed concept to begin with.
(And to be perfectly blunt the Hogwarts always look like someone made them with a shoebox and some old cardboard tubes from kitchen and toilet rolls.).
Read our lips, bumnuggets - you can have a wonderfully detailed Hogsmeade type gaming world. You can have, maybe, a wonderfully detailed Hogwarts Castle and estate type world - provided it is made by an experienced game builder and lot creator with some sympathy for the poor bastards who will trustingly download it (personally we think people are not being realistic considering the limitations of Sims 3, but never mind ...).
YOU CANNOT HAVE BOTH - PERIOD!
Trying to cram too much into too small a space is a great way of creating lots of little digital timebombs on lots ready to crash the unsuspecting Simmer’s game and crush their enthusiasm. It’s more than a matter of wasting people’s time. It’s the sort of selfish, irresponsible behaviour which drives people out of the community to seek their fun elsewhere.

games ive played in 2022, ranked from least to most favourite:
11: hollow knight (2017)
(i cant find a good gif for this one sorry 🥺)
i tried so hard to like this game. i should like it. its got bugs. its got atmosphere. its got worldbuilding and multiple endings. but god i hate platformers. i hate metroidvanias. this was painful to play and i will not be playing any more.
10: project diva future tone (ps4) (2017)
Tumblr media
its a rhythm game so it really cant go any higher. i like it more than megamix (plus using the playstation is better than the switch i think) but yknow. i cant say its got great characters or story yknow? but the songs are good and its fun
9: final fantasy x (2001, switch remaster 2019)
Tumblr media
i wish i liked this game more… its good but so watery. such old graphics. idk i just couldnt get into it even if the ending was really good
8. tales of phantasia (1995, gba version 2006)
Tumblr media
very surprised at how well it holds up. its a tales game so it ranks higher than it probably should for me, but the characters are fun, the gameplay is fun, and its the first game in the series, so its iconic as hell. the old graphics and lacklustre combat knocked it down a few points (as did the goddamn mines…) but the enjoyment i got from it won out. good game. i played the gba version
7. splatoon 3 (2022)
Tumblr media
sorry for not playing the other splatoon games this shit is FUN. salmon run is so good, yall. i put more hours into salmon run alone than most other games ive ever played. stream deep cut
6. ys viii (2017)
Tumblr media
im actually still playing this one but MAN is it enjoyable. killer soundtrack. cool time mechanics. challenging combat. nice well rounded cast of npcs (and theres like 20+ regular ones!). makes me wanna try the rest of the series. even tho im kinda peeved that theres like no content for this game here but WHATEVER its good. play ys viii.
5. pokemon scarlet (2022)
Tumblr media
yes it had bugs & ur correct to say i shouldnt have bought it. but theyve really perfected pokemon games with this one. open world is the way pokemon is meant to be played. the new pokemon are really good designs. the story was actually riveting at the end, the rivals are up there with sun and sword for how well done they are, koraidon’s one of my new faves, and holy god the soundtrack is good. the literal only thing that would improve it would be if it had a bigger dex and wasnt made in such a rush. i wish this game had come out next year or the year after bc then itd be perfect.
4. triangle strategy (2022)
Tumblr media
this is the first strategy game in the genre that ive played, and i enjoyed it! i played it 3 times in a row to get all the endings + ramping up the difficulty made it such a good challenge. npcs couldve been a bit better developed, and the roland/benedict endings were bad to play, but the overall enjoyment of the gameplay and different paths puts it so high to the top.
3. pokemon legends arceus (2022)
Tumblr media
i know i said scarlet perfected the series but whatever. ive always preferred catching to battling and arceus did a better job of that. between that and the way your character could actually get involved in things its probably my fave pokemon game ever ehehe 😅
2. tales of arise (2021)
Tumblr media
i dont care what anyone says this was a REALLY good entry to the series. i liked the story and the twists. i loved the characters. combat was excellent (law main ↖️) and exploration was more fun than other tales games. might not be my favourite tales game but its better than (almost) everything else from this year!
1. tales of the abyss (2005, 3ds version 2012)
Tumblr media
I LOVE THIS GAME. IF YOU HAVENT PLAYED THIS GAME YOUR LIFE WILL BE IMPROVED BY PLAYING THIS GAME. its about identity and tragedy and legacy and remembering the past and respecting the present and growing to care for yourself and your loved ones. its about herding rappigs and falling out of landships and going WHY ARE YOU ME. IM ME. it made me cry. its one of the best tales combat systems. why are you still reading this go play tales of the abyss.

One fan’s observations on Luminaria’s Merch Sales
Because it’s difficult not to feel a little anxious when the future of your favorite game heavily depends on sales of limited merchandise.
That being said, based on what I can observe and no matter how anxious I get, I think Luminaria’s done objectively well for itself when it comes to merch sales.
First, when Luminaria’s OST was released it became the number 1 quickest trending MP3 album on Amazon JP within 12 hours of its release. Here’s a tweet that recorded this statistic.
It was also number 5 in the Top 5 quickest trending MP3 album on Apple Music JP and number 6 in the Top 10 quickest trending MP3 album on Rekochoku. I thought I had the tweets/screenshots that recorded those two, but it turns out I only got the one for Amazon JP this whole time... Well, you can decide for yourself if this sounds right!
Second, around March 2022 there were multiple stores that opened pre-orders for Luminaria’s chibi acrylic stands among other Luminaria-related types of merch. Animate also had them in physical stores because there was an event (AGF 2022) going on in Japan.
Oddly, or perhaps not so oddly, those stores had it in writing that they’d sell the pre-ordered Luminaria merch regularly in June 2022...only to pull their merch from the store listing some time after Luminaria announced EoS. Animate, the Chara, and Animo didn’t offer any explanation for this, but it’s not hard to guess that they were probably just cutting their losses.
[To be honest, I don’t blame them either since the official Tales Channel Plus twitter never once retweeted these stores when they opened pre-orders. Tales Channel Plus also never made any news posts about these stores opening pre-orders either. Any business would be insulted by that.]
At the time, Colleize was still a new store that sold official anime and game-related goods. Because Colleize was new, no one in the Tales of fandom knew enough about them to be confident in buying from them. Tales Channel Plus also didn’t retweet them or make a post about them either.
But the first and only official Tales of merch that Colleize sold was Luminaria merch that the other stores were no longer selling, so Luminaria fans gave them a shot. Colleize was also proxy-friendly and partnered up with Buyee to deliver their products to overseas fans.
And Colleize actually sold out ALL of their Luminaria merch in July 2022! I’m a short-sighted fool, so I didn’t nab any screenshots of their inventory at the time (Past me was probably, “well, the JP fans already took pics and I RT’ed them, so I don’t HAVE to take my own screenshots”) but I do have this tweet I made when I saw it.
Then Colleize restocked their Luminaria merch in September 2022. I actually made sure to record that one, at least. At the time of this post, 3/1/2023, all Luminaria’s badges sold out, all Luminaria’s masking tape sold out, the Federation motif keychain sold out, Falk’s chibi stand sold out, Hugo’s chibi stand sold out, Leo’s chibi stand sold out, Hugo’s acrylic stand sold out, Leo’s acrylic stand sold out, Hugo’s keychain sold out, and Leo’s keychain sold out.
A few other Luminaria items have also sold out around the fourth of April, 2023. August and Alexandra’s chibi acrylic stands are both gone, just to name a couple.
[Wait, all of Hugo and Leo’s stuff sold out with the exception of the blind bromides, which are on back-order, where they could still appear?! Damn, okay...]
And Colleize has a lot more Tales of Series merch available on back-order now too! They’ve got some Destiny stuff, some Arise stuff, some Zestiria stuff... I couldn’t be happier for them that they seem to be doing well! And I hope that more Luminaria fans who haven’t bought Lumi merch, but want to buy them can find their way to Colleize soon!
Because if you’re a Hugo or Leo fan, then you’re already out of luck. People don’t play around... I hope people at least get to buy merch of their faves before it gets sold out like that...sheesh. But when it comes to Luminaria merch, I guess you need to approach it with the mindset that they won’t always be selling Luminaria merch and if they do, your fave isn’t always going to be in stock either. It’s a rough world out there in Luminaria merch availability...
Third, I found some merch photos of people who received their acrylic stands from Asobi store some time after I was sad that Bastien and Raoul’s stands were sold out. I think it just took some time for the stock to be accurately reflected, so all of the physically in stock Luminaria-related merch is sold out on Asobi store too...but until 3/5/2023 JST, you check out this post on how to roll some random Luminaria badges while they’re still available!
And finally, this might be the crowning achievement for Luminaria fans in merch sales so far: the Luminaria hanko stamps! The company had actually been planning to open orders for Luminaria hanko stamps for over a year. When they were accepting orders, Tales Channel Plus actually wrote a news post about it! And the official twitter RT’ed them too! Three times!
The person in charge of the project tweeted that they were excited to see all the different custom engravings the fans had requested early into the ordering period.
The planning and PR manager for the hanko stamps thanked all the Luminaria fans who ordered stamps, tweeting that they think they could probably convey the fans’ love for Luminaria to the publishers too at the end of the ordering period.
The person in charge of the stamp company’s twitter also tweeted that they received many, many, A LOT of orders and thanked the Luminaria fans at the end of the ordering period. They’ve also tweeted that Lycoris Recoil and Luminaria’s requested engravings are some of the most unique ones they’ve seen in the last few years.
So, tl;dr, because Luminaria’s in a delicate position where its future heavily depends on good merch sales, it can be easy for fans, especially EN fans, to get pessimistic about whether or not we can have a meaningful effect.
But when I look at the little victories that Luminaria fans have been able to accomplish despite the rocky challenges, and when I see that the Luminaria fans have made such a stellar impression on a company that their planning and PR manager even commented that they could probably convey the fans’ love to the publishers...
I think it’s okay for Luminaria fans to be a little more hopeful. I think it’s okay for Luminaria fans to look at this and realize that every small victory will add up.
Slowly, but surely, I think Luminaria fans are making a tangible impact.

5 Best Pokemon ROM Hacks Fan Games
Tumblr media
💾 ►►► DOWNLOAD FILE 🔥🔥🔥 Start exploring the most played yet best Pokemon ROM hack that will keep you glued to the screen for hours. So gladly take advantage of these best Pokemon ROM Hack and land into completely fascinating adventures of the Poke world. The beauty of the game lies in its amazing narrative arc and intriguing dialogues alongside a good roster of Pokemons. Since it is a hack of FireRed, it adopts a similar plot. The game features Pokemons and flaunts pleasing graphics. Pokemon Gala ROM hack has proven to be the ideal choice for speedrunning sessions for its epic tale and interesting hacks. However, the stats, moves, and so on are modified. Also, the range of spawned Wild Pokemon differentiates this hack from Pokemon Glaze. This is a hybrid of a FireRed hack and Pokemon Crystal remake. It has the same narrative and characteristics as Crystal. New activities, updated sprites, and updated animations are also added You will have a lot of material to discover, ranging from Johto to Kanto. Pokemon Prism is a hack of Pokemon Crystal that shares the same theme. It includes new graphics, over Pokemon from Generation I to Generation IV, an original music track, and a variety of mini-missions to complete. Despite being based on the manga Pokemon Red Adventured , the game is entirely a simulation in which you play as Red and interact with the other characters from the manga. It has new graphics, features, and mechanics. I think this is a must-try and best Pokemon Hack. This is a revamped version of FireRed that features the same stories plus different places, sites, and other features. Furthermore, in Pokemon Unbound, you can complete side missions and receive amazing prizes such as Mega Evolution. There are also some Z moves in the latest version. This is both a variation and a hack of Pokemon FireRed. With this game, you should expect a bumpy ride and nerve-wracking challenges. The gameplay is challenging but satisfying. With a whopping new pokemons and some of them having new moves as well, there will be a lot of new things for you to discover. This fixes the monotony of the game and makes it more interesting. The ROM also introduces more items in the game and makes catching Rotom a bit easier. Players can interact and challenge the new gym leaders of the Zhery Region and also catch pokemon from the Sinnoh, Hoenn, Kanto, and Jhoto regions. The characters start experimenting on the Pokemons to make the strongest pokemon. Experimentations cost money and hence the need for funds arises. A Financer comes around to help them but asks them to go a shady quest for him. There is a lot for fans of the Pokemon franchise. This is just a big Pokemon game that players should try. As the name suggests the ROM takes a dark turn in the world of Pokemon. An earthquake follows and a shadow keeps getting closer to you, when it gets very close and things go dark you wake up again in the same cavern only to realize it was all a dream. Soon you realize your dream is becoming the reality and things start getting spookier. Stay tuned with GamesAdda for more recommendations and suggestions. Pokemon Gaming. This is an old man yells at clouds post, so feel free to skip:
I think video games lost something as they became more of a mainstream hobby, and I don't mean like a death of art kind of thing.
Try scrolling thru the app store on your phone and just look at how many games are the same game with different skins. It's a lot, because there is money in it even if it's a way shittier version of an already shitty game. Mobile games are the number one type of game played today, and they're all either gambling simulators (loot crates, gacha games), pretty buttons to hide that they're ad revenue generators (Adventure Capitalist and the like), or they're bad copies of console games. And this bleeds into the entire industry.
The last game I bought was Tales of Arise, and I paid the full 60 bucks for it. And they had crippled the game to make their new DLC store seem more reasonable. Every time I went to save, there was a series of banners reminding me that I had actually only gotten the base version of a game, and I could spend a bunch more money to buy the parts of the game they had cut out. Mobile gaming had infected my console gaming.
I think that it's that video games have become synonymous with cash grabs. If I work at Disney, and I want to make a bunch of money really fast, just download a flappy bird clone kit, change the sprites to Disney princesses and sit back and make a million dollars from exhausted parents. 20 minutes of work, tops. The Final Fantasy 14 or whatever mobile game is a literal reskin of Age of Empires, or whatever version of the same game you played. There are literally thousands of the exact same game. When Tera finally made a mobile game, IT WAS THE SAME GAME.
I have spent hours and hours scouring the play store for games that don't fit this formula and right now I have zero games on my phone. Because no matter what the description of the game is, or the reviews (quite a few of which are fake), I have a 1 in 4 chance of downloading Age of Empires But A Different Name. Or it's a match 3 game. Or it's an "rpg" that's really just a gacha game that you can't get past the second level without spending 100 plus dollars. Or it's just a Screensaver to watch between ads.
I miss when "indie" games meant interesting game mechanics or something. Braid. Undertale. Not just the same crap but uglier.
I dont have a solution. I just miss when I could sit down and not think about how much game I could afford after I had already paid for the game.

Happy Thanksgiving! Have the first chapter of a Tales of Arise fanfic that I’ve been sitting on!
Yes, it’s Time Travel. I’m basically sending the cast through New Game Plus and seeing what happens to the plot as a result....with a few extra twists.
This should be fun. Expect chapters at least once a month from here on out!

The TOA battle system could also work well for a FGO action game, you could have Guda run around in the map and when you get into a fight you play as your Servants. Noble Phantasms would replace Mystic Artes and you could even have Boost Strikes between Servants.
Imo any FGO game that doesn't include Guda in combat misses like, one of the very few canonical appealing traits of the character: they throw hands.
In any sort of action game, I think it would be much more fun for Guda to be a playable character where their attacks involve getting assistance from certain servants (like Dantes) as part of a roster that is otherwise all servants.
That's why my main inspiration for a theoretical action game with Guda is V from DMC5. As a full human without supernatural strength or Lady's heavy weaponry, V fights by having his summons soften up the enemy, pull him around to dodge, lift him up to do high jumps, etc etc. It's such a cool take on 'normal human forced into supernatural combat' and I vastly prefer it to the human just summoning allies and then hiding behind them.
THAT BEING SAID I love Tales of Arise' battle system because it has a lot of the flashy appeal of spectacle fighters / hack and slash games but with a much lower execution requirement, making it excellent for new action game players to learn concepts like extending air combos or juggling enemies and such. If you could only cancel the animations of artes into a dodge or jump, it would be perfect and I'd love a Type-Moon action game based on its combat system.
Plus Boost Strikes would be perfect for fixing FGO's biggest oversight: not having combo attacks between servants.

Today I'm Gonna Play: Ys IX: Monstrum Nox
I've seen Ys pop up often as people's top JRPGs. I've never played them before, so I jumped into the latest entry blind to what this series offers.
Talking of combat first, the first thing this game reminded me of was Tales of Arise; having skills by pressing button combinations, dodging, on screen encounters, and having a party based system where you could switch characters. It felt extremely snappy and satisfying, and I loved unlocking new skills be it from getting them as I fight, or from shops. It's an easy system that's fast-paced which is also great when you want to play something simple and shut your brain off for a bit.
There are also raids included, which have a tower defense mechanism to ensure you survive hordes of enemies while protecting a crystal, or to collect X number of item in a time limit. It gets quite chaotic but is manageable with the use of upgrades. This adds a nice variety to combat so that it does not get monotonous. Aside from that, the game seems to have a superpower motif going on, allowing you to traverse in different ways such as parkouring or gliding, or accessing hard to get places, as well as some combat abilities. It was an unexpected but fun touch.
The best qualities I've seen in this game are more finer details that add to the overall Quality of Life. One being how the map system functions. You're able to get a view of your current area AND look at the region map, in which you can look at other area maps because why not, all with the press of a button or two. . The game really encourages exploration in a great way by rewarding you with fast travel unlocks, and new shops or quests. What surprised me the most was that the minimap leaves a decently sized trail as you move around, making backtracking easy as well as marking where you've already been in case the dungeons or areas look the same-ish (or if you're feeling a bit forgetful at the time of playing). It's spoiled the way I see maps for JRPGs in a good way, and I'd love to see more games like this. The second detail I loved was the amount of customization in settings, ranging from gameplay to HUDs, giving the player freedom to truly explore or to be guided. And lastly, being able to save at anytime is quite a game-changer. It's not always easy to find time to game, and priorities are there to handle in real life, so having this feature came in super handy.
The story seems somewhat simple and straightforward. It's quite innocent and doesn't get too deep until the latter half of the game. I'm actually quite surprised how deep the game gets into its lore and politics, and it was simple enough to understand without playing the previous games. There's a nice variety in cast, and side quests actually add lore to them rather than being usual fetch or escort quests.
I also find the character designs to be a plus, most of them are designed quite well without the reliance of fanservice. It was a breath of fresh air! However I did find Renegade's design to be underwhelming with such a muted colour palette. It does fit his personality a bit, perhaps.
Some negatives are the graphical quality of this game. It's the latest entry released just a few years ago, yet it looks much older, and very bland in terms of colour. I had fun exploring the city of Balduq and was amazed at the size and depth of the place, but it definitely lacked some colour or variety that made the place truly interesting. Midway I stopped to look at previous entries' graphics and felt that Ys 8 somehow looked better, but I also read a bit about the developer and didn't realize their impact towards the genre, and that they seem to make more budgeted titles, so I can give this a pass.
Another negative is the music, most songs fit, but only about 2 tracks truly caught my ears, while the rest sound quite generic and akin to typical melodies I would hear in budget JRPGs.
Overall, the game was truly an enjoyable adventure to experience, and I even felt a little sad as I reached the end, bonding with the cast and the city. I'm looking forward to future titles and may check out 8!

oh not so much something to ramble on, but i've been meaning to get into the tales of series, would u know what's a good way to start? also! trucy & phoenix dynamic please?
Ooooooo I see I see. There are a couple of good games you could start with, most of them aren't connected in any meaningful way so you could start with almost any of them. I think Tales of Symphonia is relatively inexpensive on Steam, and even physical copies for GC or PS3 aren't going for too much. It's a really solid game, the story is amazing, and I think it holds up very well gameplay wise for a game from the mid 2000s. That may be your best bet.
If you're willing to shell out a bit more money, I think Abyss, Vesperia Definitive Edition, Berseria, or even the newest game, Arise, are all decent starting places. They all play pretty different though, and have wildly different stories. Some have grand, epic adventures, some have that found family I crave so much, some have darker tones, it really depends. I can go more in depth on any of those if you want.
Okay back to your regularly scheduled Ace Attorney
I just love Trucy and Phoenix so much. I think it was pretty obvious just through the trilogy that Phoenix would already make a wonderful father, and I was so gosh darn pleased when I started aa4 that he had a kid. (Also very confused. But mostly pleased.) And, as I said earlier, found family is ABSOLUTELY my jam, and Phoenix and Trucy embody a lot of what I like about it.
Like. They found each other at the lowest points of their lives, when Phoenix lost his badge and Trucy lost her father, and that is what got them through those seven years. Phoenix and Trucy saved each other in their own ways, and it’s so clear throughout how much they love each other. They’re almost always on the same wavelength throughout aa4, they just have such and easy and natural back and forth and are always so in sync with each other. They’re always in cahoots to mess with Apollo. And their love for each other is so sweet and genuine, Phoenix thinks of Trucy as his saving grace, and Trucy thinks the world of him in turn. Man, it’s just such a beautiful relationship.
I do worry that Trucy is the type to put far too much of her father’s wellbeing on her own shoulders. She’s that type of person to mask her emotions, to put on a show to benefit the people she cares about most. It’s made very clear by the end of aa4 that Phoenix can see through that façade, but it’s also clear that Trucy has been able to help pull Phoenix through those seven years. Plus, she seems to be the breadwinner of the family, the one in charge, which on one level is sweet, but at the same time, that’s a lot of pressure for a girl. She lost her first daddy already, and her mommy, and now her new daddy is struggling financially after having his reputation destroyed. And it’s not your fault, but what else can you do but put the world on your shoulders to take care of the person who saw you at your lowest and took you in? It’s not perfect, and it’s not healthy, but it seems like the exact mindset a person like Trucy would take on.
Still, man, it’s so clear that Trucy still has Phoenix wrapped around her little finger. He let her take over his office, he buys her what he can, he goes to her shows. Man, have you ever heard that audio drama where they’re at her show and he’s like “Oh my god that girl on stage is my daughter I love her I’m so proud of her” it just melts my heart! That’s his daughter! It doesn’t matter how they met, it doesn’t matter that they’re not bound by blood, he opened his home and his heart to her and cherished her with every ounce of his being.
Every interaction they have in these games is so fun. Even the short-lived section in DD. Man I swear if they make another game and have her barely interact with her loved ones I’m going to go feral. Give me more Trucy. She’s perfect. Can you imagine cases with Phoenix and Trucy as a team? Their dynamic is so fun, getting to watch them work together would be such a blast.

Alright, I did it. I finally finished Tales of Arise. Final thoughts under the cut.
- Very concerned over how and when Shionne changed her wardrobe, considering who kidnapped her.
- I kept wondering when that creepy attendant looking woman would get addressed. And man, she looked like she came straight out of a horror movie.
- I liked the new opening a lot more than the first. I think the animation looks a lot more polished, and there’s some really good character animation at the end when we get a shot of all the party members.
- We going sci-fi now, huh? Tales seems to like pulling that a lot in the second halves of their games, like in Graces and Hearts.
- I really wished the convos before the final battle weren’t relegated to just skits. I preferred how previous games like Zestiria and Xillia handled it more, with characters pairing off and hanging out, discussing their relationships and how far they’ve come and such, it does a good job closing up their character arcs. Especially in Zestiria, where they have Journey’s End playing in the background the whole time, which gave it more emotional impact. Having it done in skit form cheapens the moment in comparison.
- I did really like that moment before the final battle talk where Shionne starts crying and everyone comes together to comfort her and the second opening starts to play. That was nice, at least.
- I was surprised that the Renans didn’t make a bigger deal of the Dahnans in Lenegis. I guess they already had a lot on their plate to really care, plus Dohalim being with them probably helped.
- It felt a little weird that they decided to humanize the Lords a bit so late in the game, and via on optional side quest no less. I have some mixed feelings on that, but it definitely made me more curious to learn about them, especially Vholran.
- The cutscenes leading up to the final dungeon were long. Very long. I think it was three hours? Or maybe it just felt like three hours.
- The final dungeon was long. Very long. I wanted to avoid enemies as much as possible because I was running low on CP and healing items and a lot of the enemies you run into feel like mini bosses. Also, why weren’t there any holy bottles in this game? It probably would have made the final dungeon feel like less of a slog if there were.
- Me, beating the second form of the final boss: It’s not over. there’s more.
Vholran: Hey
Me: I knew it. He’s still alive. Figures, they never showed the body. That’s how it is with anime.
- The final boss battle felt...underwhelming? Like, from a narrative standpoint, I get why it had to be just Alphen and Vohlran. But I kept expecting the rest of the party members to jump in at some point, maybe when things started to get dire, like how the rest of the party members rejoin Jude and Milla at the end of Xillia. But no...They just, stayed wherever they were until the end...
- I could understand what Alphen and Vholran were saying during the battle because the background music was so loud and I was focusing so hard on not dying, so I wasn’t able to keep up with the subtitles.
- I liked how over the top the final battle felt despite it involving just two characters, though.
- The kiss! I straight up screamed, I knew they end up becoming canon, but I was not expecting that! I think they’re the first Tales couple to kiss onscreen? The only other pair I can think of is Emil/Marta, but that kiss was off-screen so...Anyway, good for them! It definitely felt earned after everything they’ve been through.
- The ends credits were really nice! I’ve always loved how the ending themes for Tales games include storybook-like illustrations at the end. The song was really nice too! I lost count of how many times I said “awww” as I was viewing it.
- It ended up spoiling who the cameo bosses were for me though, lol.
- The final image of Alphen and Shionne’s wedding at the end! Was! Too! Cute! It’s my new desktop background!
- I’m so glad that there waas a happy ending this time! I think Graces was the last game that had a happy ending that wasn’t bittersweet in any way? Anyway, good for them! It’s what they deserve!
- Hootle was voiced by Ai Nonaka?! Dang, that’s the second time she’s voiced a cute, fluffy white mascot in this franchise. Good for her.
- Overall, even though I felt that the second half was a bit weaker in terms of story, I still had a lot of fun with this game! The characters are great, it has fun combat, and it has best boy Hootle! It’s definitely one of my top five favorite Tales games!

Have you seen the costumes for Tales of Arise? I started my new game plus and I CANNOT wait to see our favorite Lord doing regal shit in his hot springs outfit
I haven't been able to play Arise and won't be able to for a few more months (financial obligations). However!!! I have looked up character costumes! I've also been watching playthroughs and silently whispering "soon I will play you." Lol.
But yeah, I can only imagine it, tbh.
Part of me hopes we get remakes like destiny with ridiculous accessories/costumes. I want those guards to find Stahn sleeping on the Draconis with a getup like Zaveids like Stahn thought it was a cruise but couldn't be more wrong. "This isn't a cruise ship?"
But yeah, if you do that and can take screenshots please post them!!! I love what costumes people use and the accessories added on in these games!

K Time for overdue Arise thoughts.
Spoilers will be a tad later in.
Tales of Arise is an interesting step forward for the series. Primarlly in the graphical sense, this game is incredibly gorgeous. From the settings to the models and battlefield arenas it’s just stunning.10/10 everywhere in that regard and I don’t think many recent entries come anywhere close. Granted this upgrade was arguably overdue has they’ve more or less used the same engine since Xillia(which was pretty in its own right for the times)
As far as the general writing goes, I do feel there will be some a tad letdown in that it doesn’t take the same kinda risks as the predcessor Berseria does. Whereas Berseria took great new directions for the series by making your main party a bunch of anti heroes with various levels of  morality to them Arise is very safe, your entire party is more on the moral side. That’s not to say they’re horribly handled though. Just more on the traditional side. You got your good guys vs your bad guys. Not much grey there.
But I genuinely liked the cast. Breaking them up into pairs cause it’s easiest.
Alphen/Shionne: Their chemistry is on point and works really well as the heart of this game.A tad expected as a romantic ship but really well done. They dont start off on good terms but genuinely have to work their way up to where they end up. Shionne’s fantastic in the sense that she’s presented as a tsundere but in reality is more just anti social and isolated due to how she was brought up with her curse. Alphen is presented as the standard hero trope and in some ways he is but he’s rather mature and straight to the point. There’s not much of that naive shonen kid in him as a character and it’s rather refereshing. His journey isn’t as unique as Luke or Velvet but he’s a really solid protag and does a great job with party chemistry across the board. Easily one of my fave Tales protags.
Plus them getting happy marriage is adorable. Def a series fave as a ship for me.
Rinwell/Law: You’ve generally I think seen this relationship before. It’s the sassy mage with the impulsive boy. Think Rita/Karol from Vesperia or Shing/Beryl from Hearts. That said, it’s still fairly entertaining. Out of the party, Rinwell is prolly the most surprising in that she’s actually fairly angsty compared to a good chunk of the cast and a lot of her growth is growing past her racism. Law is a lot more see is what ya get but he’s still fun and he actually has one of my favorite dynamics with Alphen in the cast.
Kisara/Dohalim: They’re easily the oddest pair. For the most part Kisara is Dohalim’s mom and a good chunk of their intertwined arc is Kisara trying to find her place in the world post a family death while Dohalim gets over his guilt and tries to stand up for the ideals he ingenuinely supported. Kisara’s arc is pretty flat admittedly and Dohalim’s is super lategame but I found both charming enough.
Where Arise really hurts is that the antagonists are about as deep as a puddle. The lords all do a fine enough job showcasing various types of oppression on the dahnan people but that’s really bout it. You can sum them up in one or two words. The 5th lord is the most interesting of the bunch but despite the neat concept even he isn’t around long enough to make a real impression other than evil Alphen.
But personally, that doesn’t bring down the game too much for me. There’s quite a few tales games like Destiny and Zesty where the main party gets more attention than the antagonists. It’s def more about the main cast and the general themes than the antagonists and I think that’s fine.
My opinions on combat are a tad all over the place so that’ll get it’s own post in the future. That said, overall Arise is a very pleasent experience and one I reccomend you pick up. May not be a high point in some aspects but a strong tales game across the board.

Top 10 TV Shows You Need To Watch Right Now
Tumblr media
Now, I watch a lot of television. I always have and frankly, I’m much more of a binge watcher than a wait-around-for-a-week-for-the-next-episode kind of watcher.
And with everything the past few months, there wasn’t all that much to do other than start rewatching some of my favorite shows and some that I’ve never seen or haven’t seen in a while.
So, that’s what I did and here I am giving you some recommendations for shows to add to your own watching lists.
Warning, though, some of these don’t end the best way and may end up more as a disappointment. I’ll leave that up to you to decide.
Tumblr media
I. Fringe.
I cannot recommend this show enough to people. It’s got five full seasons (although the last could’ve been a little better, but it’s honestly not that bad of a final season) of high-risk scenarios revolving around almost unexplainable phenomena regarding a tear in the fabric of reality. It deals with experiments that gives superpowers (basically), advanced technology, and a parallel universe.
Plus, there’s a cow.
What more could you want from a show?
Some familiar faces that are in the main cast or show up at some point include John Noble, who you may recognize from Sleepy Hollow and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Lance Reddick, who was in The Wire, White House Down, American Horror Story, and played Charon in the John Wick franchise, Leonard Nimoy, who you should know from the original Star Trek series, and Anna Torv from Mindhunter.
Tumblr media
II. Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector.
Now, if you know crime books, you may know exactly what this is based off of. If not, fear not, I am here to tell. This series (which, like a lot of the others down the list, unfortunately, got cancelled and won’t get to see a second season) was based off of The Bone Collector, a first in a series of novels by Jeffery Deaver.
If you like crime shows, you should definitely give this a shot. Don’t let the fact that it’s only one season stop you.
Things get pretty wild in just one season as it revolved around a retired forensic criminologist, who had been trying to catch the Bone Collector only to get injured, that gets back into the game three years later when an ambitious young detective is determined to help solve the case when a new body shows up.
You might even recognize a face or two, like Arielle Kebbel (the ambitious young detective) from her role as Lexi in The Vampire Diaries and Olivia Charity in Midnight, Texas, and Russell Hornsby (the retired forensic criminologist) from Grimm, The Hate U Give, Proven Innocent, and The Affair.
Tumblr media
III. Manifest.
Luckily, this show is said to be getting a third season and so far, isn’t going to get cancelled. It focuses on passengers from Flight 828, who show up five years after their plane went missing. Some passengers start experiencing what they call ‘callings’ and try to figure out if they were chosen for some sort of duty that the callings led them too, but things get a little confusing when someone who wasn’t on a flight seems to have a year missing of their own life after being deemed missing.
Things get a little weird and dangerous along the way, and not everyone is happy about how things turn out.
It’s pretty interesting and I’m really looking forward to what else they come up with. There’s a few familiar faces that play a part in the show that includes Daryl Edwards, who you may recognize from the first season of Daredevil, Ellen Tamaki who is also in the reboot of Charmed, Athena Karkanis, who’s been in The Expanse and Lost Girl, and Josh Dallas, who one may recall playing Prince Charming in Once Upon a Time, and Fandral in Thor.
It’s a rather good show to get lost in and I definitely recommend giving it a go.
Tumblr media
IV. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
If you don’t have an idea as to what this show is, I don’t know what to say. The title kind of gives it away. It’s the only Marvel Show (as of now since none of the shows in production have come out as of yet) to technically be connected to the MCU itself.
That’s found in one of the main characters, Phil Coulson, who you’d recognize from Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, and The Avengers. Plus, Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) both give a cameo in the show.
The show was rumored to have been set in a different, but similar, timeline to that of the MCU movies, but I don’t know for sure if it’s true or not.
It follows its own set of issues, including a deeper dive into the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D., issues with HYDRA, and so on and so forth. The last season, which I honestly cried during, gives such good twists and callbacks to previous seasons and the MCU movies that you can’t help but enjoy how it’s handled.
As a show, it probably has one of the best final seasons possible and I highly recommend giving the full seven seasons a watch if you haven’t already.
Tumblr media
V. Primeval.
Now, if you like dinosaurs, this is a show for you. It’s BBC, so obviously everyone has an accent. It gave a run of five seasons (which is kind of funny because I didn’t realize that until just now writing this as the show is listed as number five on the list) with different episode amounts.
The show centers around anomalies that seem to open up a window to the very distant past of Earth when dinosaurs still roamed the land. It causes a lot of issues, especially if one person has anything to do with it.
It’s pretty interesting and honestly has got some great characters (my personal favorite is Captain Becker, played by Ben Mansfield) and while it can get pretty serious, it’s also pretty entertaining. It’s one of the three shows on this list to get to end on a good-ish note. (AKA, no cliffhangers!)
Obviously, I highly recommend giving it a shot. It’s kind of the point of this list.
Tumblr media
VI. Terra Nova.
Now, like Primeval, this show technically has to do with dinosaurs. Dinosaurs aren’t the main focus, but they do play a part in this one season (because cancellations) story.
Terra Nova is focused on both the future and the past. In the distant future (2149), the Earth is dying. A group of people, researchers, and military as well as some of their family members, are sent to the past (85 million years) to inhabit Terra Nova, a colony of humans given a second chance to build civilization.
So, obviously, dinosaurs are going to make an appearance now and then. And unfortunately, the show only got one season and ends on a cliffhanger. Which I hate, because I really enjoy this show and wish it had been able to at least get a second season.
Plus, there are some familiar faces amongst the cast. Jason O’Mara, who plays one of the main cast members, played Jeffrey Mace in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Christine Adams, who plays Lynn Pierce in Black Lightning. Allison Miller, who played Sonya in 13 Reasons Why. And Naomi Scott, who is known for her roles in Lemonade Mouth (one of my all-time favorite DCOMs) and Aladdin. And this was just to name a few of the cast members.
Shame it got cancelled, truly, but I recommend giving it a shot.
Tumblr media
VII. MTV’s Scream.
I think you can figure out the basis of this show. While it doesn’t have anything to do directly with the movie franchise, it is kind of similar and a lot of the characters reflect those from the show. Neve Campbell even said that if the show did well, she would be willing to do a cameo.
It revolves (at least the first two seasons as season three is an entirely different set of cast and premise that I refuse to watch because of that) around Emma Duval and her group of friends as they’re picked off one by one by a serial killer going around town. Things get bloody and suspicions arise amongst the crew when things are revealed as the show continues, but things eventually work out in the end.
And personally, I really enjoyed the show even when the second season ended on a cliffhanger. I have theories about that cliffhanger, however, so watch out for a possible post regarding it.
I highly recommend giving it a chance if you haven’t seen it.
Tumblr media
VIII. The Society.
Now, the title doesn’t give you much. A group of teenagers, who were sent off on a trip, suddenly are dropped back off in their town to find it completely empty aside from themselves. They have to form their own society to survive and figure things out.
Once you know that, it makes a little more sense.
It seems really similar to the Pied Piper tale, but it doesn’t seem like we’re going to really know for sure. Season 2 had been given a go-ahead, but not too long ago Netflix announced the cancellation of the show.
That doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the first season like I do. Plus, if you’re a fan of Supernatural and the character of Claire Novak, Kathryn Newton plays one of the main roles in this show.
It’s a shame the show got cancelled, especially on a cliffhanger, but what can we do?
Tumblr media
IX. The Mysteries of Laura.
Laura Diamond, a Homicide Detective, cracks case after case while trying to raise twin boys and locking horns with her less than helpful Police Detective ex-husband. At least, this is according to IMBD and frankly, it’s not really wrong.
For two seasons, it’s packed with comedy and crime. It’s more of the former, but it still gets pretty serious every now and then, and unfortunately ends on a cliffhanger.
However, some cast members may be familiar. Like Josh Lucas, who voices Home Depot commercials (and trust me, it made my family laugh when we first heard one after watching the show), Laz Alonso who plays MM in The Boys, and Debby Ryan, from Disney Channel.
If you like light-hearted crime shows (like Brooklyn-Nine-Nine) you should definitely give this a watch.
Tumblr media
X. Warrior Nun.
As far as I know, this show has been renewed for a season two. I’m really hoping for it because it’s honestly kind of interesting. You can kind of tell by the title what it may be, but I’ll dive a little deeper.
After waking up in a morgue, Ava, an orphaned teen, discovered she now possesses superpowers as the chosen Halo Bearer for a secret sect of demon-hunting nuns. (Taken from IMDB). Interesting, right?
With characters like Shotgun Mary, Sister Beatrice, and Sister Lilith, you know the show’s going to be interesting. But the premise is pretty interesting on it’s own too.
There’s even a character called JC, who apparently has nothing to do with Jesus Christ, but I still like referring to him as such because it’d be pretty funny if that’s how it turns out. Also, someone gets beat up with a whole chicken at some point.
It’s only got the one season so far, but it’s pretty funny and action packed. Like everything on this list, I definitely think you should watch it and find out for yourself if you want to add it to your list if you haven’t already.
