Hi! Sorry for bothering you, I just wanted to ask if you know if there are any kimono patterns inspired by rain specifically? I know snow is a popular motif, but when I've tried searching for rain I didn't really come up with any meaningful results. Thank you in advance!
no worries, I am always happy to help :3
Rain is generically called ame 雨 but that word is not used as such to describe rain inspired patterns so I am not suprised your search didn't bring much (btw, did you know Japanese has a LOT of vocabulary for rain ^^?).
You can have a look at following patterns:
arashi 嵐 (lit. storm), especially arashi shibori 嵐絞り, representing pouring rain via irregular stripes
arare 霰 (lit. hail), regular or irregular tiny dots pattern representing hail (duh) or raindrops
mizutama 水玉 (lit. water beads), polka dots like pattern, representing water drops
Many kind of stripes can hint at rain tbh, see then if kimono or obi has any other pattern giving any hints (hydrangea/ajisai for example are THE star of rainy season in Japan). Rain can be mixed with other concepts like:
nure tsubame 濡れ燕 (lit. wet sparrow), showing swallows in the rain, a romantic pattern symbolizing lovers (especially star crossed)
tsuyu shiba 露芝 (lit. rainy season grass), blade of grass with a dewy water drop
kasa 傘 / janomegasa 蛇の目傘, umbrellas (often with a bull's eye design)

One Piece SBS Vol 105 Thoughts
The spoilers have been flowing out for SBS 105, and with it a bunch more info to digest. So let's talk about some key points.
Spoilers for the SBS (which also has Wano spoilers)
Starting with the big one:
Zoro's bloodline
I see a lot of people upset or mad that Zoro's family tree was put in an SBS, but honestly I don't think it matters. The Wano chapters were already pretty blatant about the fact that Zoro is a descendant of Ryuma and there's more to his likeness to Ushimaru than the prior SBS confirming that he's not his dad. All you really get from the SBS is the bits in the middle; Ushimaru is his great uncle, his sister Furiko married a swordsman around Shimotsuki village, Roronoa Pinzoro, who bore Zoro's father, Roronoa Arashi. Arashi died fighting pirates, but interestingly married a 'Tera', a Bandit's daughter, who died of illness.
Honestly though, I think there's still more to it. The fact that Zoro didn't initially grow up in Shimotsuki village must mean that his mother resided somewhere else, was Zoro a bandit kid? Is his maternal grandfather still alive? What pirates did Arashi die fighting against? There still feels like there's some stuff less obvious Oda could potentially unpack.
Side Note: Tashigi Reminder to people that this does not confirm that Tashigi is a Shimotsuki either, despite some people's efforts to spin it that way. Yes 25 people left Wano and only 10 founded Shimotsuki village (which was already a village but renamed) but that does not mean they were all Shimotsuki, Miyatomo the craftsman was also a part of that group after all, plus there will be people in service of the clan (like Orochi was to Yasuie, even though he wasn't a Shimotsuki). In addition, it's worth noting that the village was established by defeating bandits, some simply may not have made it out alive. Overall her former likeness to Kuina may be something, but it also may not, nothing about her is confirmed yet.
Chopper vs SMILEs
So while many were disappointed to hear that there was nothing Chopper could do to fix the people suffering from the defective SMILEs, it always made sense to me. For one, the after-effect is not a disease or virus, so it doesn't quite undo his goal (people just expect Chopper's goal to be completed in Wano when it's convenient?). Secondly, SMILEs are fake Devil Fruits, so people are really expecting Chopper to undo a Devil Fruit effect? That's a bit much.
I feel like people expected too much from this because of how easily Chopper could counter Queen's Plague Rounds, but even this was beyond his capability.
Kurozumi Tama
I mean, this was obvious right? She has purple hair, how many other characters in Wano have the same hair colour as Orochi? The key thing though was Oda clarifying the also-obvious matter of Hiyori's parting words to Orochi being specifically for Orochi himself. Tama is a Kurozumi, but she isn't going to be subjected to the same harassment, especially since she partook in defeating Orochi and Kaido too, plus she has an army of SMILE users at her disposal and also the only ones who really know she's a Kurozumi would be Hitetsu/Sukiyaki (who was fine about raising her) and herself, and she would have the wherewithal to keep it to herself anyway.
Others
On the less unpackable side of things there was art of Yamato as an Oiran to satiate the thirst traps, of course in this case Yamato probably wouldn't be identifying as Oden if he was an Oiran.
Green Bull and Black Horse (the criminal investigation guy) had their design inspirations revealed, they are indeed very accurate.
And Oda very expertly danced around Sanji's eyebrows changing due to the Raid Suit effects, so there will probably be more to Sanji's biology to look into later.
Post-Reverse Mountain crew know some of what happened during the sagas before they joined, by asking those who were there if they were willing to tell, which makes sense, not too necessary but it also explains why Franky and Robin didn't know about Laboon in Thriller Bark.
Also alongside Sora, Warrior of the Sea, Oda revealed that the other popular picture books are; 'Fire Dog' (A dog on fire), 'Pokeemon' (maybe Pokémon hinted but image is more Doraemon), Monkey Ball (Dragon Ball, has a monkey with an axe flying the nimbus), and 'Marco-San' (which is just a girl, I was half expecting just Marco or a Pineapple, dunno the reference).

Firstly if you find that Adoribull fic I hope you share and second if you have any fic recs for Bull in general I want to know 👀
Also autocorrect nearly made his name Bill. The Iron Bill, a legal juggernaut. Don't call him William.
...he's pretty well versed in fiscal affairs.
i'm going to rummage through ao3 as a treat so maybe i'll be lucky haha i'll send it to you if that's ok and if i find anything.👀
i started reading fics on ao3 not so long ago, so my collection is humble and classic, still...
these are purely gen/plot and character focused with rare nsfw scenes:
small secret spaces – i adore this absolute gut punch of a fic, it's about 2k words and is written from bull's tama perspective. absolutely heartbreaking as anything regarding bull's time on seheron.
there's also i can see us gather at the gates from the same author, a 36k words work in progress, bull x f!trevelyan. it studies them both in opposition to each other, this one got me thinking and feeling for days.
there's also a very short the sea is unchanged in the same series, i recommend lilith_morgana's works in general, because just as this one, they're always written with such love for the characters, as well as with wise, mature understanding of them.
ebasit – a different author, another character study, 12k. so far the only inquisitor!bull fic i've seen, not even on ao3, and by god it's tasty. it's adoribull and bull x josephine, but still mostly a character study. bull seems to be more serious and tough here than as a companion. there is also one thing about adoribull that'll absolutely break your heart in the best way possible.
but there's a twist is an almost 60k words modern au adoribull fic that's definitely worth checking out because i'm not overestimating when i'm saying that it's got everything. this will be painful, this will be sweet and rewarding. and the title does not lie. again, this fic seems to be just one of a kind, very glad a thing like this just exists. also, lilacsolanum is overall an amazing writer,
and vasaad proves it. i respect any fic that touches on vasaad's character because there's just so much angst potential in just a few words cole says in canon, and this one? nailed it. it's also 6k words adoribull. bull's got some baggage, bull's gotta understand that dorian's not afraid of it.
(there's also my father and his father before him from the same author, but even though it's an adoribull fic, it's more of a study of dorian. also highly recommend, gets you very invested in dorian's depressed shenanigans. also the best portrayal of halward i've seen.)
continuing with the vasaad theme, triptych is probably one of the most well-known works on this list. adoribull 41k words soulmate au. it's got such a good grasp on bull's grief. the soulmate au reality only enhances it. i was fascinated at how the system of qunari names was intertwined with the significance of names for the soulmate au. and vasaad? oh. he haunts the entire work, and frankly, it feels right.
cassandra and the chrysanthemum caper is going to be right up your alley if you enjoy older characters exploring pining and slow burning in 16k words while being rather oblivious about it. cassandra x bull, the divine and her bodyguard, and everything you can expect from these two. bonus points for bull with a disability.
stuck on the puzzle – ok, actually this one is the most well-known on this list. i don't really interact with content about cullen, and it's his pov in this cullen x bull 200k beast. but this is a very well-crafted and thoughtful work. plus, there is also an interesting exploration of characters and non-sexual bdsm. just very solid writing.
darkened room – sigh, who doesn't like good ol' ptsd-flavoured nightmares? especially when it's adoribull.
maraas kata – somehow whenever there's qunlat in the title you know it's gonna be good. i consider this to be a bull's trauma exploration. dorian and bull are visiting seheron, very bittersweet. bitter because of course, it's seheron, sweet because bull's got support, and he's not alone.
another country – and another fic from venndaai whose works are absolutely beautiful. not very long. it's adoribull, and i'm weak for time traveling. especially for meeting your loved one in the past. especially when it's this sweet and touching.
so shall it be – rather short bull x adaar, consists of a very technical approach to bondage while also being non-sexual. and it's just sweet!
also, there is some stuff i'm in the process of reading, but still enjoy and find interesting:
run home – i'm only starting reading that one, but i already know it's a high quality work that studies characters in-depth, bull x f!lavellan, bull is an adoptive father of a kid!krem, plus, it's little league au.
better angels – i'm still in the process of reading it, but so far i find it lighthearted and like writer's inquisitor and sense of humor. the plot of m!lavellan x bull losing their memory and trying to piece everything together seems interesting!
aneth ara – as it's easy to realize, i'm in the process of reading many fics. but whenever i see f!lavellan x bull exploration that's over 100k words, i just can't help myself. :) plus, i really like how it's written, it seems very well-built to me.
since it's bull, there's also a good chunk of pretty hot purely pwp stuff:
kindle and char and enflame and ignite – adoribull playing pirates. :) it's pretty lighthearted and sweet, very nice experience!
the summit shrouded in fog – this cullen x bull and x dorian will be your jam if you like more intense scenes. it explores how violent bull is and how it interacts with him being a dom among other things. that's actually not the thing i've seen discussed much before in various texts, so that's cool.
got 180 degrees (and i'm caught in between) – this is a pretty recent work on dorian x krem x bull, made me go !!! i just love krem very much.
come on, get higher – just wanted good ol' bottom!bull and i got it. this is adoribull. also, i know that justjasper created a big amount of works for adoribull in general, and afaik they all are worth checking out,
such as katoh, for example. a very touching compilation of moments between dorian and bull that are sharing the common theme of communication. i like when authors work with the watch word use, it's as important as a good scene.
rivers in the sand – i dunno how explicit it might be considered, so it goes here. adoribull, bull sees similarities between the seheron and the hissing wastes, definitely has a ptsd episode running as an app in the background. bonus points for dorian finding bull being a nerd hot because same.
anyways, thank you sooo much for asking and giving me a chance to rumble about fics i love about a character i love! sorry if i took the task way too seriously, haha. surely there can be much more even with my little experience of ao3, but i'll stop here.

I am back with my one braincell to talk about importance of Vivi after chapter 1054! [has spoilers]
Tumblr media
Remember chapter 908 when the Reverie officially begins in Reverie Arc? And at the end of that chapter we learn, the five elders aka Gorosei are actually answerable, and obey someone called Imu-Sama who sits on “The Empty Throne.” The five old men kept harping about maintaining the equilibrium of the world and asked Imu-Sama which light they wanted to snub from the world this time?
Tumblr media
Imu-sama, we find has chopped and stabbed photographs of Luffy, Shirahosi and Blackbeard, and was holding Vivi’s pictures.
Tumblr media
Now let’s see few things World Government and Marines, aka the puppeteer behind the institutions are afraid or wary of most?
a) People with D. in their name.
b) Young/notorious people with huge influence or abilities to change opinions and circumstances with their existence.
c) People with in/famous lineage.
d) People who can call out the atrocities of the World Government publicly without caring for anything or caring too much for the greater good.
e) Someone who can make alliances and friends at drop of their hat.
Ace is/was the best example of the combination of all the above! And most probably the first light to be snubbed under Imu-sama’s orders in current timeline. Ace had D. in his name, he was lineage carrier of Roger’s will, he was young and notorious, and he didn’t play by WG rules, by refusing Warlord title he called their bull. And that boy made friends everywhere he went! Example: Shanks, Tama, Yamato, Oars and more.
Tumblr media
Now let’s come to Vivi.
Vivi, is the last princess of the Nefertari Family. A family that was the founding royalty/mind behind the birth of the current system of governance of the world, and they are the only family out of the twenty families that refused to stay in Seichi Marijoa aka The Holy Land Mary Geoise, after the rebellion/war/collapse of society, during the void century. Nefertari family chose to stay in their homeland, giving up on the chance to play gods as celestial dragon.
For 800 years the Nefertari family has held on to the poneglyph about Pulton and guarded the secret. Their refusal to join Celestial Dragons, with information about the Pulton means, their family was automatically seen with distrust! Throw in 800 years the distrust and anxiety which got passed down from one generation of entitled celestial dragons to another, it finally evolved into full paranoia. Vibrations of that paranoia must have reached Gorosei and Imu-Sama.
I feel the reason World Government turned blind eye to Crocodile’s actions in Alabasta was simply because it was an act of waiting. They were letting Crocodile do the dirty work with the privilege of his Warlord title, and if he had succeeded in uncovering information about Pulton, they would’ve dealt with Crocodile and by extension gotten hands on Robin too.
Tumblr media
But Vivi who went undercover as Baroque Works Pirate, met Luffy, and things changed. The secret of Pulton technically now resides with the Strawhat Crew! Vivi on other hand has flourished as People’s Leader in last two years! She cares for the country and people, and she cares for well being of commoners around the world. There are few princess we have met so far in the story, Shirahoshi is already a weapon but she is still immature about ways of the world, Rebecca is a princess but she is not changing things in her country it is Viola, Hiyori has stepped aside to let Momo take charge of Wano.
It is only Vivi who has; lineage, maturity, infamy and influence, and control over her population as a ruler proper. She has stepped up time and again to show kindness is the only way to move forward. With her friendship with Luffy, and her own capabilities at making friends; immediately after entering Marijoa, she made friends with Shirahoshi, Koby, Rebecca, reconnected with Dalton and Kureha; and tried to stop St. Charlos from abducting Shirahosi! Vivi is a threat to world government and by extension the order Imu-Sama maintains.
Tumblr media
In chapter 1054 we learn, Newspapers are claiming Nefertari Cobra has been assassinated by Sabo, the Flame Emperor. Which is an absolute lie! We know World Government lies, they lie all the time and manipulate facts to maintain their hegemony. Things that happened in Reverie, happened on the home ground of Gorosei, so in no possible way would they share the story of Revolutionary Army entering their turf, almost killing a Celestial Dragon, freeing a Slave, leaving without getting caught is an continuous act of humiliating celestial dragons and world government royally!
Tumblr media
Instead, while the chaos was happening; Nefertari Cobra who had asked for a private meeting with Gorosei, must have sensed or seen or heard something which might have made him act on his own.
I think arrogant Gorosei under Imu-Sama’s order must have sent assassins to kill Vivi, but Nefertari Cobra who was already ill and dying, thwarted the attempt by playing decoy or jumping in to save his daughter. The King and his men are known for disguise, remember Igram dressed as Vivi while she bid adieu to Strawhats? And older generation have offered to suffer/sacrifice for the young/future in One Piece multiple times; Jaguar D. Saul, Corazon, Pedro and more.
Tumblr media
So what I am saying is Sabo is already on the top of infamy now, he has injured two admirals, blown up the insignia of celestial dragons, created chaos, so putting the murder charge of a Kind King on him will not seem a far fetched story.
But yes, if Nefertari Cobra asked Sabo to kill him, that’s something we could totally see as another possibility! Cobra was already sick and dying, if he chose to make his death meaningful by offering his life to the revolutionary cause to fight the oppressive World Government, then that would be even a cooler plot twist! But he may not have included his daughter in his own assassination plan. In both version of possibilities he will choose Vivi’s safety first!
Tumblr media
As for Vivi, she is a former undercover Pirate, she was good at hiding and keeping herself undetected. Hiding or running away from World Government and tricking marines might be hard but not a herculean task for her.
Since we are heading towards the finale, Vivi must be sailing towards the Strawhats too. I am also inclined to believe she is carrying information or facts or something important that might change and turn the world upside down. We knew a reunion was bound to happen between Vivi and Strawhats; it will happen sooner than later.
Now that Shanks has casually said he is going to claim One Piece like he is going to departmental store next to his apartment to get some soft drinks, I am absolutely assured Vivi is reuniting with the crew, because in the war against the World Government Luffy might be the biggest threat to status quo, but after the war is over the face of change has to be someone with vision and kindness and the person who fits the criteria best is Vivi!

Iron Bull Banters that informed my opinion of him the most, part 2
Ben Hassrath/Spy Bull
part1 part3
Tumblr media
Bull was raised to believe there is no line between thought and action, justifying re-education and the need for Ben-Hassrath. He also doesn't allow himself to think "illegal" thoughts under the Qun and actively squashes any line of thinking that would lead to anything contradicting the Qun. His Tama noted that he had a sharp mind and that he was "too wise." He can't let himself turn his wisdom against the Qun because he would find the places it doesn't work and he isn't allowed to argue, to pick the shaky logic apart; that's not his role. He puts up walls in his own mind so he doesn't break the rules. There was the dialogue "one day I woke up and couldn't think of a damned reason to keep doing my job." That's when he had had enough, when the pointless bloody misery of Seheron made him question his being there, question if he was actually doing any good at all -- in effect, questioning the Qun's wisdom. Which he isn't supposed to ever do. Weapons don't have opinions. And Bull so wanted to be a good, obedient tool of the Qun that he submitted himself to be tortured back into thought-obedience.
Even after he becomes Tal Vashoth he doesn't externally engage in conversations that go against the Qun. He doesn't take the bait when companions say things like "you're free" because becoming the monster he used to fight still stings. Because imo he's only just starting to learn it's safe for him to deconstruct his worldview. He just assures everyone he's fine, and since he adopts this easygoing persona who never seems to take anything seriously ever, all the companions leave him alone about it. (I wish we could have reassured him and given him a safe place to open up in-game as his friend, but alas, saving the world takes priority)
Tumblr media
One of the examples of Bull describing (and downplaying) what his job as a spy has been. This and "fighting, drinking, writing notes, that's all it really takes." You could take this as him buddying up to Varric early on and making himself seem less of a threat, while at the same time the fact that he's doing this is also part of Being A Spy. He never outwardly reveals how good he is at changing his persona to match who he's chatting with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With Varric he specifically and purposefully calls being a spy drinking fighting and writing notes because HE KNOWS VARRIC. Varric is famous as an author and friend of the Champion of Kirkwall. Bull knows he's friends with Isabela, who at one point had the stolen Tome of Koslun in her possession and therefore is of interest to the Qun. Bull absolutely got briefed on the Inquisition and its most important members at some point. He is so good at obfuscation that even Varric can't pin down his true nature - he's doing the subtle machinations right in front of Varric's eyes this whole time. He knows Varric's onto him from the word go and would see any tricks coming. So he shoots completely straight with him to get Varric on the back foot and make him question if Bull is really even a spy at all
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bull's razor-sharp spy observation skills used against Solas and against a Tevinter spy in a village they pass. Companions comment their surprise of his abilities. Bull quietly takes the initiative to tell Leliana about the Tevinter spy, trusting her own spy skills to handle it. Not pictured, but Bull also quietly notices a change of the guard rotation that tips off his own assassination attempt, after which he notes that he's been dosing himself with the Qun poison they used on him, and that he previously took years of Ben Hassrath training to hide his facial expressions
Tumblr media
The insight of Bull's mother figure into his personality, and a glimpse of the Qun bureaucractic fallout of losing him as an asset. It seems like the Ben-Hassrath went back to the source to see where they went wrong with Bull. Being a spy meant Bull wouldn't have to conform to the rigid, unquestioning role as a soldier, but it gave him just enough freedom of thought, just long enough of a leash that he was able to finally break free
Bull's thankful to be given a window into the mindset of probably one of the only people left in the Qun who might still love and know his original self. I think he's relieved that his Tama doesn't hate him being Tal Vashoth. Interestingly, this glimpse of another member of the Qun who's not a warrior or spy is a softer person than we otherwise get to see in the game. She remembers Bull, remembers key details about him all this time later, is crying over him, but isn't angry with him like Bull assumes, as far as we can tell from this
Tama "smiled sadly", either because he was leaving her to go to the Ben-Hassrath or because she could see the writing on the wall with Bull even when she spoke those words to him. IIRC kids get assigned their roles in the Qun at age 12. Tama's probably raised a lot of other kids since Bull left; he's at least in his 30s. He was raised by someone who truly loved and cared about his well being, and I think that shows through the kind of person he became: selfless and caring in return. She knew how the Qun would use his skills and intelligence and I think the "He got away" can be intrepreted as gratitude that he's no longer chained by the Qun and will now be allowed to exist as he was meant to, a fully realized individual.

yknow what would be really funny
if bulls tama went tal vashoth right after he was picked up for ben hasrath training (extra funny if u consider how related those two things are), escaped to somewhere on the continent, had a baby, and that baby went on to be none other than the inquisitor themself

happy friday / dadwc!! if i may be bold enough to prompt from my own list: for your Tulin, “It is not the voice that commands the story: it is the ear.” ?
Oh I LOOOOVE this one for him 🥺 thank you so much.
For @dadrunkwriting
~~~
“Do you have more stories?”
Iron Bull glanced down at the little boy who sat at his feet, legs crossed, as Bull himself oiled his favourite bracers. Tulin picked at the grass before him and stared up with wide, pale eyes that looked strange and otherworldly in his brown face. They reminded him a bit of Cole’s.
“What do you wanna hear, kid?”
Tulin grinned. He was missing his two front teeth. “One about dragons.”
Iron Bull huffed a little laugh. “Sure. Now, once your Tama and I got a little drunk and went out —“
“Not like that!”
Bull frowned down at Tulin in confusion. “What do you mean not like that?”
“Like… like, fancy.” Tulin made little gestures with his hands that maybe Cole would’ve understood, or Virelan. “Like it’s… it’s a old old story.”
“Oh.” Iron Bull cleared his throat very seriously, putting on an air he hoped communicated how very proper this story would be. “Once upon a time…”
iron bull: So, Cole, you’re a spirit…demon…thing?
cole: Yes. And you’re The Iron Bull, afraid of demons.
iron bull: Mmm. Not fond of ‘em, no. But you and I are fine as long as you don’t do any weird crap.
cole: Lying awake, sheets soaked in sweat, afraid to call the tamassrans. Shadows make shapes in the dark. If it gets in my head, how do I cut it out? Itching, shaking, tears slide cold down my cheeks. “Tama, I’m scared.”
iron bull: Yeah, weird crap like that? Pretty much what I meant.
About Qunari prostis What were the dick crew thinking? Imagine being a tama raising a child to the age of 12 and coming into the conclusion that being a public sex whore (for men 99%) is your purpose. Like on what basis? Being incapable of doing any other job? Disabled?Iron bull basically said that some tamas are public whores and since all tamas are women and 99% of males are het it's just your standard part of the female population used to have the dicks of men that can't get laid as often as they like to. "It's like a need" yeah for men who feel entilted to sex apparently, how revolutionary
I'm not quite sure what you are referring to. I was not aware of this part of Qunari lore, so I read up about Tamassran on the dragon age wiki. Here is an excerpt from it on the Tamassran duties in Qun society.
Control the Qunari selective breeding program by deciding who mates, and if so - with whom.This refers to the Qunari of all races, including humans and elves. At that, Tamassrans don't cross-breed races with other races. Tamassrans breed people for the purpose of making sure that the children will inherit genetic traits suited for certain jobs.
Give names to newborn children.These "names" are strings of genealogical information that the Tamassrans use to keep track of recessive and dominant traits the individual may be carrying. The Qunari themselves use their job titles rather than their "names" to call one another.
Raise all the children and give them their general education.
When the Qunari children reach the age of 12, evaluate them and officially assign their roles.
look after those Qunari who are not mentally able, or are too physically impaired to function without a lot of help.
Provide psychological counseling and rehabilitation to those overwhelmed by stress and mental fatigue. This includes granting sexual relief to Qunari in need.
Use the substance called qamek to "free those beyond redemption," i.e. to turn dissenters who have persistently resisted re-education into all-but mindless creatures ("viddath-bas"), who can only perform hard labor and require looking after in the same manner as the disabled.
So it seems that you are referring to number 6. I honestly had no idea about this part, iron bull said that when u go to the Tamas for sexual relief, it is like going to the doctors and such so I assumed that there was mutual consent, but if you where made to believe that your lifes purpose is to bring sexual pleasure to others, isn't ur right to consent is literally striped from you ?.
Of course the Qun's treatment of women is absolutely terrible, it is no secret that they do not believe women to be strong or capable of being warriors or soldiers. The treatment of women in thedas as a whole is generally problematic, but none other place, at least in my knowledge, thinks of women as low as the Qun. I'm not trying to demonize the Qun but it is obvious that it was written to be "the bad place" of Thedas, plus anon is right, being thought of as a sexual object is disgusting and thinking that it is your only purpose is incredibly dehumanising. Of course we must consider the fact that, as a different culture, the idea of sex could be very different from ours, but that kind of feels like an excuse to make it sound less extreme.
Honestly this just goes to show what the writers think about women. Of course this is a fantasy world, where the story does not inherently reflect to the author's beliefs, it is just curious that someone thought to write this part in.
Thank u anon for bringing this part of the lore to my attention.
i know it's impossible for a number of reasons but i want the meeting parents trop with the inquisitor and bull's tama and the iron bull meeting his tama again in general.
she seems so cool from a few mentions here and there in the canon material, and allaros would definitely say she knows how to raise a good person. lavellan's got an immense amount of respect for this woman just from what he learned from bull, and bull seems to be such a loving son.
and she seems so caring as well, understanding her children and putting their well-being in front of demands of the qun, ever so secretly. regarding that one banter about how she would study every stone in dwarven ruins, she's got a lively, fluid intelligence of someone who seeks for knowledge. she's very smart, smart enough to understand what would happen to little ashkaari. i bet at least the half of bull's ability to read people is from his tama. i bet his curiosity is also from her. children learn to fall in love with the world with help from their parents, and bull's tama definitely taught him well.
and the iron bull would be, like, at least two heads taller than her, that's a fact. and he's all about respect as well.
allaros would listen to their conversations and her stories from a daycare. he would wonder what she thinks of all that kadan stuff. he would compare it to his relationships with the keeper, and that would be bittersweet and different, just different.
that would be such a happy day.
One Piece Chapter 1052 - Initial Thoughts
Tumblr media
Okay then
What was first meant to be just the wrapping up of Wano has now turned into the wrapping up of the penultimate saga of One Piece, and the last few chapters before the Month Hiatus
There's still the possibility that Oda leaves us on a cliffhanger though, so let's see what these last chapters have to offer
Spoilers for the Chapter, Support the Official Release
Gastino how come you didn't leave Whole Cake!? You can Fly!
We start the chapter with the reaction of the Gorosei
I'm still unsure what they mean by 'fallen', I don't expect BM or Kaido to be dead but at the same time the longer it's left the more it feels like they are
Zunesha has left too, confirming to them that Wano's borders won't open, meaning that they can't invade (though I wonder about the waterfall's stability still)
They still want Robin though, I don't think mask face has the heart to tell them
Someone hacking into CP0's signal?
Back in Onigashima and Drake and Hawkins are alive!
See? Hawkins may be a bit of a bastard, but who isn't in the Worst Generation? In the end he was never gonna go back to Kaido
Anime have done an error it seems, the 1% man was Hawkins himself!
I hope he didn't just die then, part of me feels like he came to Drake because he wants a way out, even if it is with the marines
A week passes and Wano is being reestablished; education is being reformed, kids are getting water, and a new festival is coming
People think Luffy - who they refer to as Joy Boy - left though
If they think Luffy's heroism rivals Ryuma then god what was Ryuma doing beyond the Monsters manga!?
In Ringo, Kin, Marco and Kawamatsu are discussing making another shrine to bury the fallen
Izou sadly confirmed dead, man went out protecting his family though so you gotta respect that, they're gonna be laid to rest with Yasuie, the other Daimyo, Oden and Ashura
In the palace Yamato waits, and Hiyori reveals that Luffy and Zoro have awakened
Plus we finally have that dropkick
Yep, they're back to normal...BUT TELL US ABOUT THE REAPER ZORO!!!
Momo's festival was on hold until Luffy and Zoro woke up, gotta get hammered back into a coma after all
Luffy and Zoro of course don't recognize adult Momo XD
Alas Momo, you've lost your chance to nestle in Nami and Robin's bosom, now you get smacked off - not that Brook and Sanji aren't taking any pleasure out of that...
Yamato please keep putting plates on his head
Now that Luffy and Zoro is awake, Yamato can apparently eat, since they made a vigil to not eat or bathe till they woke
Hiyori reveals she wiped the two boys clean though, not that Zoro pays any attention, Sanji will pay attention (and rage in jealousy) for the both of them
Zoro though remembers his promise to Sanji, and decides to take liberties with it by attacking him
The Onsen scene was perhaps not for me, I get it's a win for Yamato to be in the men's bath and Kiku to be in the women's bath but also if Brook and Sanji are perving at Yamato during all this it's kinda missing the point
Oh to be young and be allowed to get away with getting to second base due to 'innocence'
Carrot please you're 15, sit down!
In Tokage Port, Usopp and Franky have done the work and helped fix up the ships and Franky Shogun
I keep forgetting that Kid's ship looks awesome
Stubborn and grumpy Kid and Law though, don't want to be giving the straw hats credit because now the alliance will be coming to an end
FUCK OFF APOO, Ibi you can stay
Okay leave the new bounties on the floor and then FUCK OFF APOO
Bounties AND Names? Oh I've been waiting for new titles, and new Emperors? I'd guess maybe Kid'll get shafted because his alliance failed and Law and Luffy's didn't
For joking sake I'd love to see Tama just have her face plastered over Kaido's bounty, 'Queen of Beasts' Tama
Dude is literally using a plant on his back to helicopter over to Wano
Admiral Green bull sir, I'm gonna have to kindly ask you not to disrupt this festival and try and kidnap Robin, peas and tankards? Akainu is telling you to not do anything unnecessary and attacking a nation not bound by the WG's jurisdiction with two freshly new Yonko would fit that bill, plus you're chill with Fujitora who's pro-Luffy, be chill man, be chill
Also you are kinda triggering my Baron Omatsuri trauma with the flower growing out of you...
Oda had to do it didn't he? He's setting up shit to hit the fan right before a hiatus
It was a fine chapter, one designed to lure you into a false sense of security. But I do worry that a lot of things are gonna be left unanswered
It's been a full week now in Wano so I kinda expect that if BM and Kaido were dead that their subordinates would be in full panic, BM's crew is a big question mark after all in this saga.
We have no clue about Kaido's Poneglyph either, or Wano's use of Sea Prism Stone in general, or really any of the early stuff with Hitetsu and the Nidai Kitetsu. While we're on swords as well we may not see Zoro pay his respects to Ryuma or have any genetics towards Wano as it was theorised and even hinted by Oda to have, and we do need to know about his excursion to hell too.
Between all of this, Luffy and co having a rager, the Admiral, leaving Wano (with Robin still with them hopefully) and finding out about what happened in the outside, I fear Oda won't be able to cover all of that.
This being said, the chapter itself had a lot of fun parts, I'm still not sold on the onsen scene nor am I 100% sold that Yamato is Nakama until Luffy says so (he still calls him Yama-o), I will also continue to hold on hope for Carrot since she was in the background for this chapter and Zunesha has already left, but then again the minks did have ships too so it's still very much a clutch at straws. As I noted before, I hope Hawkins survives, and even sticks with Drake, SWORD could use his talents too after all. And I expect Kid to feel slighted by the new bounty figures, perhaps enough to even attempt full villainy. I worry about Law though, the end of the saga means the end of his and Luffy's alliance, what will the Surgeon of Death do now?
I can see the Admiral's presence going one of two ways; either he causes a scene or he simply chills at the party. It's also quite possible that he's not the one who contacted CP0, since the navy only learned of CP0's presence in Wano through Drake, I half expect another force to be coming: SSG, Sentomaru or Lucci perhaps? It was theorised by many that Green Bull had a plant DF so that seems confirmed, I wonder if that may fall into Usopp's wheelhouse with his Pop Greens or to his detriment? But I do hope he's just pretty chill and ends up joining in on the food, while also dropping the bomb about what happened at the Reverie, but it's tough to tell.
One more chapter until the long wait.
Wisdom from the Bhagavad Gita 51
9. Sattva attaches to happiness, and Rajas to action, O descendant of Bharata; while Tamas, verily, shrouding discrimination, attaches to miscomprehension.
10. Sattva arises, O descendant of Bharata, predominating over Rajas and Tamas; and Rajas over Sattva and Tamas; so, Tamas over Sattva and Rajas.
11. When through every sense in this body, the light of intelligence shines, then it should be known that Sattva is predominant.
12. Greed, activity, the undertaking of actions, unrest, longing—these arise when Rajas is predominant, O bull of the Bhâratas.
13. Darkness, inertness, miscomprehension, and delusion—these arise when Tamas is predominant, O descendant of Kuru.
14. If the embodied one meets death when Sattva is predominant, then he attains to the spotless regions of the worshippers of the Highest.
15. Meeting death in Rajas he is born among those attached to action; so dying in Tamas, he is born in the wombs of the irrational.
16. The fruit of good action, they say, is Sâttvika and pure; verily, the fruit of Rajas is pain, and ignorance is the fruit of Tamas.
17. From Sattva arises wisdom, and greed from Rajas; miscomprehension, delusion and ignorance arise from Tamas.
18. The Sattva-abiding go upwards; the Râjasika dwell in the middle; and the Tâmasika, abiding in the function of the lowest Guna, go downwards.
19. When the seer beholds no agent other than the Gunas and knows That which is higher than the Gunas, he attains to My being.
20. The embodied one having gone beyond these three Gunas out of which the body is evolved, is freed from birth, death, decay and pain, and attains to immortality.
—Bhagavad Gita, 14:9-20
