i think it’s important to understand that isaac is simultaneously much weirder and much more normal than the rest of the coterie thinks and they will never once get it right. rey thinks isaac is about to start cutting off his own limbs? he just wants to make sure serif is armed for the fight, that’s all. the group thinks he might be vulnerable as he uses his new powers? he’s fine, he’ll just be extending his bones into blades. these conversations happen minutes apart. incredible

My Deltarune Pet Peeve is criticizing Toriel for being an emotiobally absent mother, making a speech about how all of Toriel's flaws are major problems in Kris's life, ignoring she's a single working mom with a full-time job in which she can't afford to snap at anyone because she's the authority figure in the room, because she's the emotional pillar for a lot of people, and then say nothing about how Asgore 'forgets his kids physical boundaries' 'unemployed to the point he's facing eviction' 'maintains a facade of strength when he's a deppressed mess' Dreemurr might've affected Kris's ability to care for themselves. Or even regarding Asriel, who had the time to look after Kris, and a better place to ask them what's affecting them, and a tracked history of maintaining distance from Kris while his friends bully them, but who doesn't get entire paragraphs described to how he might've created Kris's dependent state.

It takes more than one parent to raised a child y'know???

(This isn't a post to shit on Asriel OR Asgore. For all their failings, they're flawed but kind people who want to help people. Asriel himself was young when his parents divorced, and presumably couldn't rely on anyone for his own problems. Asgore... was a cop, which IS a moral failing, but he also doesn't deserve shit for being at the butt end of society, unemployed, alone, being C. Holiday's financial chew toy, and without the ability to ask for help without being a huge burden for somebody else. But if you are capable of understanding that, then you are also capable of understanding Toriel has not had the freedom to suddenly intervene in her child's life without fear of 'being an over-controlling parent', and making Kris's situation worse.)

Toriel IS aware Kris has problems, that's why she pushes them to go outside and connect to people! It's why she gets so happy Susie's there! It's why she asks Alphys how they're doing!

Toriel is also probably aware that Kris is more than a bit sensitive, that they like their privacy, that pushing them too hard will make them deppressed and keep on having self-esteem issues! It's why she's so hesitant to actually intervene!

All things considered, Toriel is a good mother, of course people like her, and more definitely, Kris likes her.

I'd like the tf fans to understand that the comics are the outlier here. If the average person's idea of Transformers is "cartoon shenanigans with alien robots to sell toys" they're not wrong. That's what most Transformers media is. This is a franchise for children. And that's fine. That doesn't mean the shows are bad or the characters aren't interesting or that you can't write a fic where everything is that dark and deep. But it is what it is and that's fine.

no fr like some of you must have a really low opinion of lewis's character if you think that a couple of bad years is enough to make him ditch merc lol. the man literally has the word LOYALTY tattooed on him pls. this team is moulded around him and listens to him about things that are important to him (such as his activism) in a way pretty much no one else on the grid would, and esp not the team y'all fantasize about him moving to. yeah yeah all teams are businesses blah blah but the culture at merc is built around lewis, he won the majority of his WDCs with him, he gave them their 8 WCCs in a row. he may be upset with them (and he is well within his rights to be!) but he's not gonna cut and run over it lmao. say all you want but they ARE important to him, and the relationships he's built there — from toto and susie to angela, bono, james allison, shov, etc. — mean a lot to him. he loves them. he won't leave them over a rough patch in the road. he's gonna win his 8th with them and y'all will just have to cope with it.
