anyway, god, how does one even begin to choose? I could nominate like half of every female cast from the Kaga era games for one thing. get to the modern games, and you get countless characters who would've benefitted greatly from not being under pressure from being a viable target for the resident customizable protagonist's gaping S-supporting maw. the ones in the middle of the maelstrom are safe from that sort of sweeping problem, but that's not to say they don't have any characters they inidividually did dirty... (Lyn deserved more story relevance, Elincia deserved more time in the limelight in Radiant Dawn, Eirika deserves more respect from the fandom if that counts, and that's just going through protagonists)

anyway, a solid chunk of Awakening's second generation deserved to be in a better game -- perhaps even their own game -- so I guess that's also a big one

anyway, I'm not nearly as avid of a reader as I should be, for being a writer, but here's some of the finest Fire Emblem fanfic that my terrible brain managed not to wander astray from:

Princess of Dawn and its sequels by @wyvern-dork are the ultimate gesture of dedication to a blorbo that I've ever had the privilege of witnessing, let's see, around 80 chapters of so far. y'know, out of the 193 total that are presently up. to describe it only as a novelization of the Akaneia Saga, starring Minerva and featuring Minerva/Palla, would be selling it short. I think the more accurate thing to call it, rather, is the Minerva bible.

not looking for a work that will beautifully gobble up your entire life like that, though? first off all, why aren't you? but second of all, you can still get your Minerva/Palla from the same tap in shorter form: in Blades of Champions, where the two of them are some of the tryhardingest fencers in the whole modern alternate universe

and to complete the hat-trick on recs for this particular friend's works, there's Fingers Through the Sand. in this fic, Luthier dies at war and Delthea's journey to completely mishandle her grief eventually takes her across the sea and to befriend another magical powerhouse with a heart full of grief -- Linde. it will hurt you perfectly while dazzling you with stuff about magic

but lest you think I'm letting you off without another Akaneia rec with lots of magic in it -- as if; here's simplicity by name, the delightful gift I was given for nagamas 2021. it's Merric/Arlen, albeit with some flexibility as to how romantic you read their interactions here exactly, also they're both magnificently trans of gender in there

and I'm not done with the magic yet, or with the ones I've managed to prompt out onto existance. after all, @dornishsphinx‘s May You Arrive at Fertile Phthia dotted that year's FE Rarepair Exchange for me with some of the most evocative (and, at least once, haunting) descriptions of magic I've ever seen. besides that, it also has an intriguing Erk/Nino story largely set after Binding Blade, ie, well after they've both disappeared. it is deliciously detailed, and even has a bunch of Homeric references if that happens to be something you're interested in

while we're at Elibe, @royaltyjunk's the pain in my heart cannot be shared (i really miss you) deserves a mention at the very least because Lyn opening a text convo with Hector with "order bitch" remains one of the most beautifully in-character things I've ever seen for her and it's the first line of the piece- besides that, it's also a modern AU story taking place in our here world, but one might say that it's still about how much Lyn misses the plains.

anyway, let's cap this off with a hat-trick of @queenlua recs, notwithstanding that this tag there is entirely redundant with the other notifications she's about to be getting for this post- anyway, the first one of them is Silent World, a three-chapterer in which Naesala attempts to ruin Micaiah and Sothe's relationship for shits and giggles. it's not quite SFW and it does in fact feature Micaiah/Sothe, but if you're fine with both of those things, then you may join in me suddenly finding Sothe a much more interesting character than you may have originally figured (plus, that Micaiah and Naesala are great characters should require no convincing, but they're still in peak form here, so, that's just Oops! All Interesting)

and here's another three-chapterer while I'm at it -- Where the River Meets the Sea. it's a Claude/Hilda story that doesn't skirt around the dodgy history between Hilda and Almyra -- the opposite, in fact, as that's one of the central themes. the other being that these two are both extremely nonconfrontational people and, sometimes, that's not a good thing. anyway, Lorenz writes a strongly worded letter in this, so, that's the real #1 reason why you should go read it right now

and I'm not done asking you to enjoy Lorenz content either; for that matter, neither am I done with the modern AUs. because summer is miles and miles away is the white whale that I will always be kindly, playfully, yet persistently prodding the author about picking back up someday. it's a Claude/Lorenz story where all the Garreg Mach people are Harvard graduates, Claude is the tech startup bro he was always meant to be, Lorenz hasn't matured quite as fast as he did in canon without a war to light a fire in his ass, and Hilda is great

plus, there's always my own work to recommend, but I take in pride in all the stuff I got to make these days, so, it's hard to pick and choose just a handful. you could always check out my ao3 page and read every last one of them. but to select a few regardless: The Winter Bird is my love letter to all of the Dawn Brigade's obscure underappreciated blorbos; Forests and People features Jamke, Edain, Dew, and probably some of the funniest lines I've ever managed to get into a piece; Building Trust, slightly longer-form than my usual fare, is an ongoing effort to make Catria/Clair happen -- you know, on my part, on their parts, and on Minerva and Palla's parts, with the time they have to spare while they're not flirting with each other -- and if you're in luck I might actually finish the fourth and final chapter this year; and then there's my most recent piece, MozghuzCon, where I drastically exceed my own expectations vis-a-vis story length for a spot of modern AU Bernadetta/Marianne where they're both very transgender, very neurodivergent, and very nerdy.

I have no idea if this is an appropriate outlet for this but I really need to get it off my chest and there are limited people I can talk to about this without outing my ex. One of the biggest issues in our relationship is that she constantly made me feel like I wasn’t “mentally ill enough” and that’s something I’ve discussed quite openly with my friends. But I’ve also realised that she also had a narrative that I wasn’t “queer enough” as a cis lesbian. Like she literally told me that the AIDS crisis “isn’t really your history to claim or get upset about” and the worst part of it is that I have no idea if she’s right or not?? I know I let her walk all over me occasionally because her trauma was worse than mine but I truly don’t even know how to process how she made me feel about my queer identity. I don’t know. Sorry guys, I just needed an anonymous forum for advice on this 💕 love to you all

I generally don't think that comparing trauma is a good idea, not only because of the difficulties in drawing lines (i.e. what is to be considered moderate trauma and what is to be considered great trauma) but also because we as individuals have such different capacities for dealing with trauma. Some have underlying mental or physical health issues that might make a comparatively "small" traumatic event that much harder to cope with and others have strong support systems or are lucky enough to live in a place with ample access to mental health resources etc.

Her telling you that you're not mentally ill enough sounds incredibly minimizing of her. Struggling with mental illness is hard enough in and of itself without being told by loved ones that you're not "bad enough". Again, this is something that happens frequently in the eating disorder community too: people tell themselves, or others, that they're not sick enough and therefore don't deserve help.

As for her questioning your queer identity, I think we do need to remember that there are a lot of prejudices towards each other inside the queer community. There's the biphobia and transphobia from other members, POC who are targeted by racism and so on. Being queer does not mean one is immune to being prejudiced, that goes for your ex as well. I'm not saying that you are biased, because I do not know you, I'm just trying to shine a light on the fact that there are oppositions within this community as well. Her telling you that you're not allowed to be upset by the AIDS crisis sounds unreasonable to me. One doesn't have to have personally experienced a thing to be able to understand that it was bad and to wish it hadn't happened. Yes, you might not have the same connection to it that a gay man living in the 80s would have had but to me (a non-binary, bisexual inidividual) that doesn't mean you can't mourn the tragedy and stand beside other queer people in the effort to remember those who fell victim to it and to try and prevent something like it from happening again.

I think of it in a similar way that I think of my responsibility as a white person in the anti-racist movement. I don't want to talk over POC, but I also don't want to remain silent in some false belief that it's "none of my business". So what I do try to do is be mindful of who I follow on social media so that I don't end up with a 90% white feed, I sign petitions and read and reblog things from people who actually do face racism, I donate to organizations, I confront family members who say racist things, and I do my best to take critique when people tell me that something I'm doing or saying is harmful so that I might learn and be better. And I am definitely upset when I hear/see racist things because I sympathize/empathize.

Your ex does not get to tell you that you're not mentally ill enough, and she does not get to decide that you sexual identity isn't queer enough. I hope that you'll reach a point where you're comfortable with your identity.

There’s Always A Catch

@dark-eyed-elegance It had been... a while since he had awoken, he couldn’t pinpoint the exact moment his consciousness had stirred back to life or even when he had ate his first rat but from the time he could move had only been a few months. Within those months he had feasted upon France yet again, panicked incessantly over the age -that still happened from time to time, visiting his once was old home, and finally made his way to the new country - America.  Nicolas was like all things in his life at odds with this new age, he both hated it’s dazzling lights and blarings sound and wanted to indulge in every new thing there was to be offered. It was much harder to get into the new era now when he didn’t even know how he had come about to being here. He briefly remembered a . . . his fingers curled at his side as his eyes danced about the dancing crowd in front of him. He couldn’t recall.  The blasting music with unhinged inidividuals so unashadely rubbing against one another in little to no clothing. He reveled in the unholy sight yet a part of him was aghast and wanted to flee while he still could. Yet, like the night before he stayed, his sad sorrowful eyes drawing in an unsuspecting target eager to understand or quench his sadness even though they knew nothing of the horrors he held.  Mouths crashing together or rather his mouth falling upon him like Nicolas was some kindred spirit to his morose life. Nicolas barely moved his lips but it was enough of an inivitation to the one in front of him, perhaps he shouldn’t know the game so well but coyly leading his prey outside was as easy as breathing had been. Within moments his fangs were sunk into the soft flesh and he drank greedily, it always calmed his mind to eat, perhaps that’s why he ached to do it so frequently.  A shiver went over him, Nicolas never shivered, he was a beast that made others shiver even with so much as a glance. He glanced at his hand as if it wasn’t his own, it was trembling at his side, he lifted it up and inspected this terror his body somehow knew. “Ahh..” Croakng. “I see the new age hasn’t taught you anything of manners.”  Even if he turned if his new guest didn’t want to be seen then Nicolas simply wouldn’t see him. In the face of his captor he could only look out blankly to the alleyway wondering if the red heared beast would show or if he’d be swept into a new cage to be tucked away from the new age.  “Am I not even worthy of a pleasantry, dear grand coven leader?”

1. Learner. Hell yeah bener banget HAHAHAHA. Sejak kecil emang uda seneng belajar. Apalagi jaman SMP ketika sadar diri ga punya hal yang bisa dibanggakan (muka pas2an, kantong kering haha) yauda mari kita melaju menjadi bintang kelas. Tapi kemudian sadar diri bahwa otak juga pas2an lalu nemu jurus sederhana: BELAJAR. Ga bisa juga, hafalin semuanya, latihan. And finally I did it. Jurus itu selalu berhasil. Meski bukan bintang kelas, minimal AKU BISA. Jadi... Aku sukaa belajar.

2. Connectedness. Ini artinya menghubungkan berbagai hal. Sukanya nyambung2in lah. Contoh, semua di alam semesta ini saling berhubungan. Aku bisa nulis ini karena di kasih waktu, kemampuan, dan kemauan. Dihubungkan gitu. Cocoknya jadi konselor yang suka nasehatin. Nanti bermuara ke satu hal: semuanya takdir yang harus diterima.

3. Inidividualization. Artinya adalah melihat setiap orang dengan keunikan masing-masing. Si A pinter baca tapi lemah di hitungan. Si B pinter gambar tapi lemah di olahraga. Bisa baca karakter orang. Tp jadinya bias. Karena sotoy dan judgmental tanpa tau yang sebenarnya. Kayaknya aku banget nih hahaha

4. Responsibility. Dahlah ga perlu dijelasin. Yang kenal aku udah tau banget kalau aku tanggung jawab. Ada kerjaan, cuuusss digarap. Meski di detik terakhir sih hahahaha

Contoh lain, laporan 1 buku uda jadi, tapiiii ada 1 halaman ga fatal amat. Yaudah, aku buang halangan itu ganti halaman baru. Yang bisa diubah, maka harus diusahakan. Emang nyusahin diri sendiri karena jadi punya standar tinggi. Poin plusnya, bikin target juga tinggi. Misal, tahun ini harus bisa mencapai ini, tahun depan ini, dll. Ada target yang harus direalisasikan.

PHASE THREE - EXPERIMENTS

HIPPOCAMPUS

Further reaserch into the topic of human spatial memory led to the discovery of long-term spatial memory and each individual’s personal storage space in the brain known as the “hippocampus”. Our long-term spatial memory works by cueing target locations and navigating paths. But most importantly, the hippocampus is responsible for creating “cognitive maps” in our minds, through the use of boundaries and clustering.

Referring to each individual’s cognitive map, boundaries (physical, perceptual,  are axial lines that many are biased towards when relating to space. It aids everyone in apportioning our perceptions into regions. Clustering refers to the act of recalling a large overall image first due to “rich correlational structure”, then later identifying the smaller, underlying details associated. 

With the latest findings, the reserach shifted its focus to an individual’s memory in relation to space instead. This led to the exploration of finding a space that many inidividuals would be able to recall and relate to. The final resulted to each individual’s childhood home.

The project seeks to answer the following questions-

What significance do people attribute to remembered spaces?

How do they value them, in their own words?

How do the remembered spaces interact with them?

Are there certain elements that everyone can relate to?

Can spatial memory emerge and bring new values to architecture/ psychology?

It would explore four individual’s recollection of his/her childhood home through two phases- experiments and a design proposal. From the series of conducted interview and experiment the ideal is to “reconstruct” each individual’s childhood home through remembered physicalities and objects.

  During the first phase of the project, the four different individuals were interviewed the following questions about his/her recollection of their childhood home. 

Please describe your childhood home.

Are there certain spaces that you remember more of or stand out the most to you? Why?

How do you relate yourself to these spaces?

What sort of emotions do these spaces evoke?

Are there certain objects from your childhood home you remember distinctively?

What spatial qualities do you recall? How do those qualities make you feel about your childhood home?

If you were to visit your childhood home today, do you remember the route or the street leading to your home? Are there any monuments or landmarks you attribute to this route?

The result is as follows-

Based on the initial interview a series of collages of each individual’s childhood home were also constructed using imageries they depicted such as the physical materials used in the house’s construction to specific objects such as a piano or china-cabinet.

For the second part of the experiment phase, each house was constructed on Minecraft. Users were then given a Google Cardboard and had the opportunity to virtually “find” their homes.

Hello there! Welcome back to my blog. This is the second time that I would be doing my blog. Last week, I wasn’t able to update because we haven’t had any meeting from our scheduled class because of some conflicts with our schedules. But now, I will be updating the process of my team regarding to our task. Last meeting, all of us 4th year CE students gathered at the LRC to discuss again some further instructions and details that we should do, activities that we should perform and to give us more knowledge about our PIT. Our instructor told us that our team must be in the stage of brainstroming. That we should be discussing with our team and come up with ideas for our project. Brainstorm more than 3 proposals so that if have chosen one, we will be having 2 back ups that we can use if ever our first plan failed. So we did, we gathered together and discussed about our project. We came up with ideas, there were few and mostly of them are in line with our course. We shared our own ideas and everytime someone expresses his/her ideas and suggestions we lend our ears and would listen attentively. As we are sharing our thoughts, we are exhanging point of views and sometimes we might contradict or agree in some points. It is really normal that we might have contradictions or opinions since that are inidividuals and we have different thinkings, beliefs and ideas. But most of all I can really say that despite our differences we respect each member of our team and just hear our the ideas and take them into consideration. We don’t judge or directly decline suggestions, instead we gathered all the ideas and listed them so that we will have more choices that we could use.

At first, it was really challenging for us to come up with ideas for it is kind of hard to propose any project that is in line with our course, Civil Engineering. It’s hard especially when we are thinking about the prototype that we should produce since that we are dealing with constructionand stuff. We are also taking into consideration the budget, is it practical or not. And also we are thinking if is it attainable, sustainable and is it really a helpful project. We had lots of questions, so we come up to an idea that we should be conducting a survey to know what are the needs of people and to answer all of our questions regarding our project. Because by this surveying we will be able to learn about the perspectives of other people which is really useful in conducting our research for our project. It would be hard for us to do so if we don’t have any data or basis that we could use. Though we haven’t started our survey yet, we already planned when to conduct it. After having a final target market, choosing the right project would came off easy. We also need to consider our competitors. We had to research, look online, and ask suppliers/stores if the project that we have thought of is already in the market. And if so, how could we make ours better than what is commercially available already. Lastly, we point out how we could sell this to the market.

What we have agreed to have is the project called “space savers”. The title could still change, but that’s for now. We ought to design a furniture like a bed, that could be moved easily and can have other features. The target consumers for this project are our friends and classmates that are staying in a rented room, a boarding house, a temporary house for those students that came from places outside the city. The most common area of the space occupied by a student in a boarding house is just as small as 2 x 2 square meters. This area is very small for necessities of a student living away from home. Most of the students interviewed said that the important furniture present in their room is a bed, table and storage. These are the top three of the “must haves”. We could start from there.

After this plan what we need to do right now is to design an attainable and also affordable space saver. We need to consider also if how we are able to achieve this. And also keep in mind the wants and needs of the students who are renting a boarding house. So we really need to conduct a survey to know what we should do and shouldn’t do. That’s for now, I will be updating you guys in my next blog!

Hi there,Was looking for some impressions on firstly the niche I've chosen, and secondly - my proposed targetting for FB ads.Basically, as the niche for my new ecommerce store I've chosen 'popular animals' - this allows me to focus in on individual animals and choose from a range of products. Ie. Turtle jewellery, dog/cat themed cushions, dolphin wood carved phone cases, etc, etc - you get the idea. Essentially, this means that when targetting, I can hone in on people who are specifically interested in said animal, and whatever kind of product I'm pushing.The main way I intend to drive sales is through FB/instagram paid conversion ads, so I need to get my targetting right - and because I'm on a faily limited budget, as per being 16 years old, I want to minimalise the amount of tests I have to carry out, before I find that 'winning' audience, and scale up.So, from some of my research, I found that animal themed jewellery ads on FB performed particularly well, with some inidividual ads commanding in excess of 10K likes/reactions, 207 comments and 1.2K shares. Therefore, there is clearly a market for this and this is thus what I intend to start off with.Now, I want to first drive paid traffic to, and later scale up a turtle themed necklace/pendant, similar to those that do well, but nowhere near the same of course. To test the product, I've come up with the following forumla for FB ads, to find the winning audience. My main concern is that I'm not targeting my interests properly, so I was wondering if anybody who has successfuly tested FB ads and scaled up, could very kindly lend me some feedback on my audience targeting.In short, 3 ad sets (all the same ad, but different audiences), $5/day for 7 days.
