What do you think about Ultraman X? Do you have any plan in watching the older series from Showa era and early Heisei era such as Tiga, Dyna, Gaia and Cosmos?

So, I noticed that some people don’t really care for X, which I get. The plot is almost entirely nonexistent, with the only overarching things being trying to summon a monster and Daichi’s parents. The big baddy just kinda shows up on the second to last episode and was literally nothing, which I don’t even know how you fight nothing, but whatever.

Despite not being the best series, I still enjoyed it quite a bit. Not my favorite, but I enjoy it. I think Daichi and his connection with Gomora is sweet, plus I like his interactions with the other members of Xio. I adore Daichi and X’s interactions, it’s something I loved when I watched Geed with Zero and Leito (and Zero and Taiga in Saga plus Hiroyuki with Taiga, Fuma, and Titas), and I wish more series did it (like obviously series where the Ultra is either also the human host or isn’t shown to have a personality I get not doing it, but I wish we saw more of it in like Ginga, where we know Ginga is still alive. Like, R/B Russo and Blu are dead so I get not having it there and Victory is ambiguous). Anyway, I enjoyed that, I also enjoyed X’s personality in general.

Some of the episodes had weird plots, but what’s new? I overall enjoyed X, not my favorite, not something I’d refuse to rewatch.

As for other series, we’ve finished R/B and it’s movie, so that was fun. We watched the first two episodes of Taro, the first episode of Seven, and the first five episodes of Ultraman. The issue with watching a lot of Ultraman at least, though I imagine Taro and Seven are like it also, is that the monster of a week format is hard for us to watch a lot of. So the Showa era will probably be in slow increments. According to my sister, some or most of the early Heisei era is kinda dark and she seems to think I don’t watch dark stuff (which is funny considering how many horror games I watch plus she does not know some of the fanfiction I accidently stumbled upon when I was waaaay younger. My Little Pony fanfiction could get dark...) so we’ll see there. I’ll also add that we’ve started Taiga, but we’ll probably hold off on watching all of it in a few sessions like we normally do since we were originally just going to wait to watch it until the movie was out and subbed. I’ve seen Ultras from earlier series thanks to movies (like Saga, Mega Monster Battle, Ginga S, ect.), Orb Origins (since Gaia, Agul, and Dyna (I think it was Dyna) were in that), and occassional episodes in series, (Like the X episode where Nexus shows up a bit, not that he does much, I don’t think Ginga counts as a good example of Taro and something tells me we won’t see too much of him or anyone other than the Tri-Squad in Taiga).

You know the new Ultraman baddie, Tregear from Ultraman Taiga?

Remember how in episode 3 he summoned one of the monsters by “granting” a guy’s wishes of revenge? I haven’t seen the movie he debuted in yet but I THINK he did something similar in that one. He also has this whimsical behaviour and his real form has elf-like shoes.

I wonder. Since the series Ultraman Taro is often described as “fairytale-like” and the new series stars Taro’s son, maybe Tregear is supposed to follow up on that theme? Maybe he’s a twisted fairy godparent in Ultra form?

sara is lovely!! the end of chapter one & the beginning of chapter two was truly tragic for her, the hallucinations are fucking terrifying. i’ve only played the game for a few hours and i can already tell she’s gonna be up there with my all-time fave protags. i can’t wait to see where she takes the story!!! 

i love joe so much, oh my GOD i would die for him in a heartbeat! he deserves so much better, he’s a literal ray of sunshine and the world is a whole lot darker without him. like i was seriously sobbing uncontrollably, it wasn’t cute at all lol

keiji is super skep but i can’t help but trust him. he’s definitely hiding something, i’m not sure what, but i’m excited to find out! i def think it has to do with the fact that he shot someone, i think it might’ve been the person he briefly mentioned trusting / looking up to. also...he’s dummy thicc :eyes: 

kanna is adorable! i’m disappointed in her choices in the first chapter but i don’t think it’s her fault, i think she was manipulated by that sleazy teal haired twink. i hope she comes around soon, i’d really hate to see something bad happen to her )-: 

i’m not sure how to feel about q-taro honestly. he’s a mixed bag and i never know what to expect from him. i wonder what else he has to offer? he’s interesting, don’t get me wrong, but he’s probably not my fave character tbh. 

ew, sou...if that’s EVEN HIS REAL NAME. i do not trust this fucking gremlin. good lord i’ve never wanted to throttle a character so badly before. i’m interested in his motives; it won’t justify him being a douchebag, but it’ll help me understand where he’s coming from i guess?? still wanna throat punch him though.

reko is total goth girlfriend material. i love her a whole lot, i want to learn more about her and her past, and hopefully with the personal information being made available, i’ll be able to!! her and alice’s relationship is really interesting to me, i hope they can reconcile before something bad happens.

nao is alright! i relate to her a lot honestly but i can’t help the nagging feeling that she might cause problems down the road?? still not sure how to feel about her, we’ll see!

i slowly came around to enjoy kai’s character. i wish we could’ve known him a little better, he definitely had some valuable information to share and i don’t think he was actually stalking sara but i guess we’ll never know! ...or we won’t find out til significantly later in the game lol

gin is actually my son lmao. if anything happens to him i will go feral and crazy murder everyone and everything. he’s so freakin cute oh my god?? he’s so strong and brave, i love him to pieces.

mishima is okay. i don’t know much about him honestly! i was terribly sad that no one looked on the back of the pink room door to read the rules. it’s tragic that it could’ve been avoided but i guess someone had to be the first, and if i had to pick out of the available characters at the time, it would’ve been him or q-taro. 

alice is another interesting character. he’s definitely a wild card, i don’t know what he’s thinking or what he might do. i wasn’t expecting to like him but i think i might, i haven’t decided yet though.

miley can suck my ass. ranger seems cool but they’re probably an asshole too. safalin looks interesting, but she’s probably just like miley and ranger. i hope one of these baddies has a soft spot or something, i’m a sucker for that kinda stuff lol

Sinoalice is an RPG from the Nier Automata creator that’s out now

While plenty know Yoko Taro as the developer of Nier: Automata, fewer may know that he's also created a mobile game. It's called Sinoalice, and it's now available globally on iOS and Android after an initial release in Japan in 2017. The news was revealed from the game's official Twitter account, which Taro then retweeted with a message saying "Please enjoy killing each other" - lovely stuff, mate, will do.

Sinoalice was initially intended to be with us sooner, with Nexon lined up to publish the title in 2019, but various delays resulted in the rights being transferred back to Pokelabo. We then got a 100-day pre-launch campaign before the release date came.

The basic rundown of Sinoalice is that you're in a world that's ruled by The Library. You're tasked with hopping into various, famous fairytales and helping titular characters, like Red Riding Hood and Cinderella, revive their author. To do that, you need to slay baddies to obtain power. Gameplay-wise, it's a real-time gacha RPG with cooperative and competitive modes to incentivise getting your buds in on the action.
