Darshan Hiranandani's Company Launches Rs 500 Crore Data Center in Gujarat 

On Wednesday, Darshan Hiranandani's company, Yotta Data Services, announced the opening of a Rs 500 crore data center in GIFT City. 

Over the past five years, the company has put in Rs 500 crore to construct the facility, which boasts a 2 MW power capacity, according to an official statement. 

Addressing the tenth edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024, a senior representative from Nvidia, the global computing giant and Yotta's partner in the venture, stated that the "artificial intelligence data centre" will be operational before March of this year. 

As per the statement, the G1 data centre provides colocation, cloud, managed IT, and cyber security services for storing and processing data and applications across various applications, including AI models and enterprise applications. 

According to the statement, this marks the company's fifth facility in the country, following similar investments in states such as Maharashtra. The facility comprises 350 racks. 

Its co-founder and Chairman, Darshan Hiranandani, noted that Gujarat, particularly GIFT City, has been leading in offering a viable and sustainable platform for global businesses to establish their presence in India. 

He further added, "The establishment of the IFSC zone is another affirmation of their vision for financial services firms. We are honored to endorse the Gujarat government's vision." 

According to the statement, the facility can operate as a data embassy, ensuring that the data stored is governed by the laws and regulations of the home country. This arrangement enables entities to retain sovereignty over their data, even if it is stored within India. 

Earlier in the day at the VGGS, Shankar Trivedi, a senior vice president in Nvidia's Global Field Operations, announced that the American company is collaborating with Tata Group and Reliance Industries to establish data centers. 

Trivedi, educated in Ahmedabad, emphasized that scalable data centers are essential for sovereign generative AI. He further noted that generative AI will have a significant impact on everyone in the future.

India’s retail inflation eased to 6.83% in August from 7.44% in July as vegetable prices cooled somewhat compared to the previous month, the National Statistical Office (NSO) data showed on Tuesday. On the other hand, India’s industrial output grew by 5.7% in July from 3.8% in June.

IPO Update:

The initial public offer (IPO) of EMS received bids for 12.41 lakh shares as against 1.33 crore shares on offer, according to stock exchange data at 12:21 IST on Wednesday (13 September 2023). The issue was subscribed 0.09 times.

The issue opened for bidding on Wednesday (13 September 2023) and it will close on Friday (15 September 2023). The price band of the IPO is fixed at Rs 983-1,035 per share. An investor can bid for a minimum of 14 equity shares and in multiples thereof.

Buzzing Index:

The Nifty IT index fell 0.54% to 32,799.70. The index had advanced 1.73% in the past two sessions.

Persistent Systems (down 1.59%), Coforge (down 1.28%), L&T Technology Services (down 1.28%), Mphasis (down 1.04%) and HCL Technologies (down 0.96%) were the top losers.

Among the other losers were Tech Mahindra (down 0.9%), Infosys (down 0.51%), Tata Consultancy Services (down 0.33%), LTIMindtree (down 0.19%) and Wipro (down 0.09%).

Buzzing Index:

The Nifty PSU Bank index fell 0.61% to 4,709.20. The index has declined 2.98% in two sessions.

Punjab & Sind Bank (down 1.69%), UCO Bank (down 1.63%), Central Bank of India (down 1.33%), Bank of Maharashtra (down 1.22%) and Indian Overseas Bank (down 1.08%) were the top losers.

Among the other losers were Bank of Baroda (down 0.83%), State Bank of India (down 0.73%), Canara Bank (down 0.69%), Indian Bank (down 0.55%) and Bank of India (down 0.36%).

Stocks in Spotlight:

GE Power India added 3.92%. The company has received a purchase order for NOX Reduction order at Vedanta, Lanjigarh CGPP unit 3 x 30 MW. The base value of order is Rs 25 crores.

Waaree Renewable Technologies rose 0.43%. The company has received a letter of intent for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services in respect of setting up of a solar power project of 52.6 MWp capacity.

Tata Power Company shed 0.17%. Tata Power Solar Systems (TPSSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) to offer easy financing to MSMEs for solar adoption.

Global Markets:

Asian stocks are trading lower on Wednesday as investors awaited key U.S. inflation data, while Chinese property stocks logged strong gains as embattled developer Country Garden clinched more extensions on its debt payments.

US stocks ended lower on Tuesday as Oracle shares tumbled more than 13% after a weak forecast and surging oil prices deepened worries about persistent price pressures ahead of crucial inflation readings this week. Oracle shares dived to their lowest since June after the cloud-services provider forecast current-quarter revenue below targets and narrowly missed first-quarter expectations.

Investors are awaiting August consumer price index data due on Wednesday and producer prices reading scheduled for Thursday to gauge the outlook for U.S. interest rates. Darshan Hiranandani’s company opens Rs 500 cr data centre in Gujarat

Darshan Hiranandani promoted Yotta Data Services on Wednesday announced the commissioning of a Rs 500 crore data centre in the GIFT City.

The company has invested Rs 500 crore over the last five years to build the facility, which has a 2 MW power capacity, an official statement said.

Speaking at the tenth edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 here, a senior official from global computing giant Nvidia, Yotta’s partner in the venture, said the “artificial intelligence data centre” will be thrown open before March this year.

The G1 data centre offers colocation, cloud, managed IT and cyber security services to store and process, data and applications for a variety of use cases, including AI models and enterprise applications, the statement said.

This is the company’s fifth facility in the country after similar investments in other states like Maharashtra, the statement said, adding that it has 350 racks.

Hiranandani, its co-founder and Chairman, said, Gujarat, with GIFT City, has been at the forefront of providing a viable and sustainable platform for global businesses to set up base in India.

“The setting up of the IFSC zone is a further testament to their vision for financial services companies. We are proud to support this vision of the Gujarat government,” he added.

The facility can function as a potential data embassy, whereby their data stored is subject to the laws and regulations of their home country, thus allowing them to maintain sovereignty over their data, even when stored in India, the statement said.

Speaking at the VGGS earlier in the day, Shankar Trivedi, a senior vice president at Nvidia Global Field Operations, said the American company is partnering with Tata Group and Reliance Industries to set up data centres.

Ahmedabad-educated Trivedi said sovereign generative AI requires scalable data centres and added that generative AI will impact everybody in the future.
