UAE Mandatory Insurance Begins On January 1
The insurance program has extremely low monthly premiums that range from Dh5 to Dh10.
The UAE Mandatory Insurance scheme was initially announced in May. According to the UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), it offers up to three months of compensation for employees in the public and private sectors who have lost their positions.
Free of charge and without any further fees will be available on the Website or app for involuntary loss of employment (ILOE). Tawjeeh and Tasheel, Al Ansari Exchange, kiosks, bank applications, and ATMs will charge an extra service fee.
The unemployment insurance program aims to establish a low-cost safety net for employment that helps individuals advance in their careers and offers them job security at no expense to businesses. With $5 to $10 in monthly payments, it seeks to provide employers with a low-cost safety net for employees.

Why Did the Government Introduce this Insurance Scheme?
If the insured loses their job for reasons other than disciplinary action or resignation, they will receive 60% of their basic salaries for the immediate three months. This increase the employability of Emiratis by providing the insured with income throughout their unemployment.
And to provide social protection to ensure that they can continue to live decently. This helps achieve a competitive knowledge economy by luring and keeping the greatest international talent. Employees based in the UAE can now enroll in the required insurance program against job loss.

Criteria To Be Eligible for Insurance Benefits
On the website and mobile app for Involuntary Loss of Employment (ILOE), Emiratis and expatriates who work for federal government agencies and private sector businesses can register for the program. This has gained national wise prominence, and subscriptions for the nation's insurance program against job loss opened on January 1. Many employees in the UAE started enrolling.
Employees must have joined the plan for at least 12 consecutive months to be eligible for payment. In the case of a job loss in January 2024, employees who enroll in the program in January 2023 will be entitled to benefits.
Rules and Other Provisions Under the Unemployment Insurance Scheme
1. If fraud or deceit is involved in the insured's claim, or if the workplace where the insured works are fictitious, the insured is not entitled to reimbursement.
2. It was improper to dismiss the insured for disciplinary reasons.
3. If a worker or employee gets hired by another employer while receiving remuneration, the payment will stop.
4. The insurance benefit is calculated at a rate of 60% of the employee's basic pay for the most recent six months before being laid off.
5. Payment options for the insurance premiums include monthly, quarterly, every six months, or annually.
6. After the claim is filed, the compensation must be paid within two weeks.
7. The insured may file a claim via several channels, including the iloe.ae website, the iloe smart application, or the insurance pool call center at (600) 995-55.

UAE Unemployment Insurance Category A and Category B
UAE Unemployment insurance is broadly classified into two categories A and B. Job holders with a salary of Dh16,000 or below come under category A. Their premium is Dh5+VAT per month and all the particulars regarding the job must be submitted to be eligible. The expected compensation benefit is up to Dh10,000 per month and a maximum of up to three months per claim.
Job holders with a salary above Dh16,000 cine under category B. Their premium is Dh10+VAT per month and all the payscale details must be submitted for verification. The expected compensation benefit is up to Dh 20,000 per month and a maximum of up to three months per claim.

When will This Be Useful for the Employees?
The Unemployment Insurance Scheme is a type of insurance or social security that offers Emiratis and residents financial support if they lose their jobs as a result of being fired by their employers in the public and private sectors. The financial assistance will be provided in exchange for the worker paying a monthly insurance premium while he is employed.
If an employee is fired for disciplinary grounds by the Labour Relations Law, the Human Resources Law, and any other applicable laws, insured sums will not be applicable.
Employees in the private and federal government sectors, whether they are Emiratis or foreign nationals, must register for the involuntary loss of employment plan. The insurance compensation will not be paid if there has been fraud or dishonesty involved in the claim or if the listed place of employment is bogus, as has been previously reported on Arabian Business.
Employees who are insured must file a claim under the unemployment insurance program within 30 days after the date of termination. Within 30 days of the date of their unemployment, they must submit their claim via one of three authorized claim channels—the insurance pool's e-portal, smart application, or phone center.
