LEAVING THIS UP BUT VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE

Someone reblogged and said it can weaken the leather inside, this has never happened to me for the year or so I've done it, but very likely can happen!! Please be cautious:) this is likely better advice for faux tails! (As most of those dont have leather middles)

Reminder for all therians who have gear/anyone with animal gear

Don't know how/are afraid to do it wrong

Here's a step by step on how I do it! (This is for real fur tails but should also work just as well for faux fur !)

Fill up a sink or a large pot with warm water, NOT boiling/hot!! This can cause the fur and hold on it to grow a lot weaker and possibly fall off

Pour in dawn dishsoap/sensitive skin laundry detergent(regular downy also works!) into the water and mix it around :)

Gently take your tail and soak it in the water, slowly and carefully running your fingers through the fur to remove any excess dirt/grime

Dump out the dirty water and refill it with slightly colder water, run the tail through this again!

Smell testing is also a good idea, step away into a better smelling room then walk in and smell the tail, if it smells bad or grimey another less intensive wash may be needed

If done, Take the tail out, lay it FLAT DOWN on a surface, do not hang dry it from its keychain if it is big or heavy, if not then feel free to hang dry!

Check on it every hour or so, in less than a day it should be good! (Depending on length:] )

And thats all!! I hope this helps anyone with gear who wasnt shure how or if to wash it:)!!

Reminder of a Starline themed BumbleKast Q&A where Ian Flynn as Starline talks about what he would have done with Sonic and Tails bodies after the events of Issue 50: [ Tw! Child Death + Taxidermy ]

Starline is such a genuinely terrifying character (who I miss everyday ahh) and his disregard for children and his willingness to mentally and physically manipulate them for his own evil purposes (especially in the context of this answer) is genuinely chilling. It’s something I think even Eggman would be semi disturbed by which is saying a lot.

The idea of him using Sonic and Tails preserved bodies as trophies and as an example to others is so insanely horrifying, and the “well then I’ll just have to start a gallery won’t I!” in response to the idea of other hero’s trying to rise up against him somehow finds a way to make it extra disturbing. The mental image of Amy, Knuckles and all their other friends seeing what Starline has done to the brothers… to their family 💔

The thought of Surge and Kit having a constant physical reminder of what they’ve done… that while Sonic and Tails may be out the way, the two unwilling doppelgangers will forever be in their shadow, unable to truly fill the roles they were forced into and the bond the brothers had. Them getting everything they thought they wanted, yet still feeling empty inside.

Long story short: Ian Flynn did not need to go this crazy with this answer but gosh am I glad he did.

to my therian friends who buy tails, or anyone who finds themselves with a taxidermied animal part they did not want: DO NOT BURY THEM. Do not throw them away either.

If you do not know the chemicals and materials used in the process, or cannot verify that they wouldn’t harm your natural environment, please keep them out of the ground. And always do your best to minimize waste, so don’t throw them out. Donate it to a local thrift shop, or give it to someone else.

The chemicals used to tan the skin, the chemicals used to degrease bones, the stuffing, and any parts replaced (such as eyes, nose, whiskers) are not always guaranteed to be safe for the critters and bacteria that break down the item. And if it’s from before 1980, it may not even be safe for you to touch or be near! If they’re that old or older, they are highly likely to contain arsenic.

HOLY SHIT OK. So i know I did this to myself but Fobo was ROUGH to draw. Everyone gave me some trouble.

Foolish: - Great White Shark but gold - Foolish is always hard for me to draw cause everyone draws him differently. I decided to base him more off of the more human designs/ cc!Foolish for this to break up the yellow from the tail. - I didn't want to make him straight up metallic, so I gave him a goldish color

Tubbo: - Swordfish - Did you know that swordfish and marlins look very similar? Well they do, so i had to make sure that I was giving him a swordfish tail and not a marlin tail. (I redrew it so much) - I gave him a different shaped sail cause one big difference between swordfish and marlins are their dorsal fin. The tails are pretty similar, but the dorsal fin is different. (pic for ref further down) - The scars are from when he got caught in the ship rudder causing him to end up at Chume Labs ----------------------------------------- Marlin dorsal fin V Swordfish dorsal fin V

Sunny: - Fantail goldfish (I got more specific than just 'goldfish' cause i wanted to >:) ) - Flowy ruffled shirt with a cut out in the back for her sail. - This Sunny looks a lot different from my normal Sunny, but I like them a lot. - by far the easiest of Fobo Leo: - Purple Lionfish - Sail is like the spines of a lionfish but with webbing between the spines - Ears inspired by lionfish pectoral fin - The fin gave me so much grief... I wanted to have it face forward and not sideways, but I could not for the life of me get it to face forward and look good, so I gave up. - Red t-shirt with white collar. I didn't draw it here, but I imagine it also has a little white hood that has the Walter dog on it, but it might get in the way of her sail, so unsure. Also has a hole cut in the back for her sail like Sunny's

i understand being annoyed by young therians to some extent - kids will always be annoying to some adults inherently and thats fine. but adult therians need to learn to pick their battles, when to realize whatever theyre complaining about is the equivalent of "get off my lawn!!"

Okay, folks, this is it--this is my LAST upload of wearable tails! As I've mentioned in the past, after a quarter of a century I am phasing Vulture Culture art out of my professional life so I can focus on other things. I'm slowly finishing up some projects I wanted to get to, though there will also be some destash of supplies at some point in the future, too.

I emptied the tail bin this month, and listed everything I have left--almost 100 tails! Most of them are at http://thegreenwolf.etsy.com, but there are two lynx tails at http://thegreenwolf.storenvy.com.

They ARE REAL taxidermy and I'm SO HAPPY DJJDJDJSJS !!!! if ur looking at the 2nd pic, there's a coyote tail on the left and a raccoon tail on the right !!!! AND THE BEST THING ABOUT THIS WAS THAT THEY WERNET EXPENSIVE AT ALL. The raccoon one was $10, and the coyote one was $20. There were fox tails and I REALLY wanted one but they were $30 i wasn't the one paying atm so 😔😔 BUT TAILSSS !!!!!!!!!!! As soon as I got them I attached the raccoon one to my belt

And I got those cool new pants !! I still haven't tried them on but I'm super excited to see how they'll look!!

AND FINALLY: if u look closely below the tails in the first pic there's a little brown package where I got a little dragon figure !!! I'm SUPER EXCITED to add it to my collection of dragon figures !!!!

I have to come to these mountains every month atp cuz ITS SO FUN. there's snow (even tho I DESPISE being cold), and I can get the coolest stuff !!!

Deer heart sourced from one i ko’d with my vehicle. (did not go to waste, he’s in my freezer butchered and labeled) i decided to keep his heart because i had to give him the last act of kindness. he was going to be a gorgeous buck. now his beauty can be remembered.
