If the fact that I made 30+ memes about the topic didn’t make it clear enough, I’ve basically gone half feral over grizzled Rusted Knight Jaune. I can’t wait to learn more about his time in the Ever After and how he’s changed.

And yes, I do believe that he is the Rusted Knight from Alyx’s story, not just his heir or replacement. Maybe that will wind up not being the case, but we’ll have to wait and see.

But do you know what’s really wild about Jaune being the Rusted Knight?

Everyone knows who he is. ‘The Girl who Fell Through the World’ is obviously a classic that’s been read by just about everyone as children. All of his friends, his classmates, his family, those kids he walked to and from school in Mantle. Hell, even their parents.

Everyone knows who he is.

Imagine Blake listening to Kali or Ghira read her the story, waiting for her favorite part: when the Rusted Knight rides in on his Jackelope to save Alyx from the Jabberwalker.

Imagine Weiss daydreaming about a knight riding to the rescue of his princess on the back of a big bunny, sweeping her up in his arms and riding off into the sunset to live their happily ever after.

Imagine Yang eagerly listening to Tai or Summer describe the knight clashing with the Jabberwalker and cheering when he strikes it down. Imagine Ruby being inspired by the Rusted Knight to be just like him: a hero who’s always there when they’re needed.

Imagine Pyrrha wanting to become the very best warrior just like him, unaware that she would play a role in forging his legend.

Imagine Nora and Ren huddled up together in a cave, taking shelter from a storm and reading about how the Rusted Knight fought and slew the big monster, taking comfort in the fact that at least in the fairy tails the heroes always win.

And imagine Jaune with a toy shield and sword, pretending he’s the rusted knight, being carried on his father’s shoulders as he duels with an imaginary Jabberwalker, unaware that he’s recreating his own battles.

Imagine Cinder huddled under her thin sheets, reading the book by moonlight and wishing a knight would take her away to a magical world where everything was okay.

Imagine Emerald reading the story of the Ever After from a book she stole, using it to teach herself how to read word by word.

Imagine Mercury wishing a knight would fight his Jabberwalker and protect him from his own father.

Just think about how Blake of all people reacted when he arrived to fight the Jabberwalker. She was giddy with excitement at seeing one of her childhood heroes in the flesh. If Jaune hadn’t removed his helmet, she probably would have asked for his autograph.

From Vale to Menagerie, the children of Remnant know the story of Alyx’s journey, and they know the Rusted Knight. When they play Ever After they argue over who gets to be the Rusted Knight and fight the Jabberwalker. And some of those children, knowingly or otherwise, are influenced by him to grow up and fight their own world’s monsters, to become huntresses and huntsmen, to be the defenders of Remnant and the shield between the innocent and the Grimm. Just like how the Rusted Knight has defended the Ever After from the Jabberwalker.

Jaune is one of Remnant’s childhood heroes. And I think that’s beautiful.

And yes, I did cry a bit while writing this. Thank you for asking.

Pearl is the moon. She shines brightly down on the world only when the world isn’t looking. It’s an underappreciated role but one she understands well after the centuries she’s spent overlooking the little mortals running around. Her temples may not be the grandest but they are well-respected and there’s not much more she could truly ask for. Respect is sweeter than any honey for a goddess like her.

Tonight, there is a breeze in the air and the waves lap to the beat of her heart. The cool stone of her temple steps soothes the fever burning under her skin, the subtle pressure of anticipation. Speaking of things sweeter than honey, tonight is a new moon and Pearl has the brief freedom to visit a woman who’s sun-kissed skin and piercing eyes feature in her every daydream. Some might question Pearl’s choice of lover but those people forgot just who’s light Pearl reflects all night.

Her quiet admiration is broken when a face dangles upside down from behind her. A face she prefers to admire over any lovely ocean. The red curls and pretty grin draw a smile to her face near involuntarily.

“Hiya, pretty lady! You come here often?” Her lovely green eyes wrinkle with a smile as she giggles out a pick up line. Sweeter than honey, indeed.

Pearl hums a little before leaning forward and pressing a quick kiss to her lover’s cheek, “Not really, but I might have to if lovely ladies like you come here.”

Gemini Tay, priestess and warrior of the sun god, laughs and hops down the steps to stand in front of Pearl. She’s wearing a loose white blouse unbuttoned just enough that it shows a sliver of smooth skin, just enough that it causes Pearl’s pale face to blush a sweet and unearthly violet. The smug smirk on Gem’s face tells her that it was completely intentional. That smirk only serves to deepen her blush.

Gem’s hands are brushed with the same tan that the rest of her is, a stark contrast to the silvery paleness of her own. She wraps her hands around Pearl’s and drags her up to stand before her. Her calloused hands brush up her arms and to her cheeks, gently holding her face and those piercing emerald eyes staring at her, love sparking in them, completely unfiltered. In her opinion, her role as a sun priestess is fitting, Pearl always feels burning hot to the touch whenever Gem touches her. Everytime she sees her, she feels distantly jealous of her brother for getting her as a priestess. Maybe if she was hers, they’d see each other more than just only dark, moonless, nights like these.

Slowly, taking their sweet time together, Pearl slots her hands onto Gem’s hips and leans forward. They’re lips meet in the middle and Pearl absolutely melts. Gem’s lips are slightly rough but slide gently against hers. She slides her hands around to tangle in Pearl’s hair and she sighs softly into the kiss. They pull apart but stay close and she gets the pleasure of watching those lovely green eyes flutter open.

“I missed you.” She whispers against the red-head’s lips. “I really, really did.”

“Oh gosh, so did I. So much. So did I.” is the answer she receives, tone sweet as honey.

Tomorrow, Gem will return to her prayers and offerings, to her sun and swords, and Pearl will once more take her place among the stars. They will be apart for another month. Tonight, however, tonight they have all the time in the world. Nothing divides them now, not Pearl’s divinity or Gem’s devotion to the life-giving sun. They have this one night to do all they wish, right here on the steps of her temple, her home on earth. No one to witness their love apart from each other, tangled together like this.

A cold and distant deity, Pearl still burns hot when held in her lover’s arms.

Have you ever saw a couple with an odd color match in a bl?

For example a pink x green. I mean these colors are a match in color theory and I would think they Make a good contrast when we talk about people (pink being more romantic and daydreaming while green may be someone more mature and down to earth) but we it's something rare to see?

@brazilian-whalien52, to answer your question before I mention a whole bunch of other stuff . . .

TLWR: I don't find any color-coded pair really odd if it's two different colors. I like the diversity of color coding and the stories the colors tell. The only thing I find odd is when colors are the same since that goes against the norm regarding romantic pairings, which isn't a bad thing.

I like that your example of an odd couple was pink x green, only because that coloring is reserved for friendships and family connections.

I would love to see a romantic pair color coded that way because I like different colors getting paired up, but secretly, I'm always rooting for the Purple Pretties x Brown Beauties since one is extravagant and the other is down-to-earth.

We've only gotten one pair with this actual color coding, and I desperately want more.

Which is why I'm thrilled I'm getting a new color coded pair in Wandee Goodday!

But the couples I find odd in regards to color coding are the couples with the same color (Tharn x Phaya are NOT the same color).

Quick color terms:

Hue - The main color

Tone - When grey is added to the main color

Shade - When black is added to the main color

Tint - When white is added to the main color

Visual media tells us those who share the same color are too similar to work out romantically.

So whenever I get a romantic couple who shares the same color, I get confused. For example, before the yellow was introduced in La Pluie, Tai was light blue and Phat was dark blue.

One was usually neutral blue (the main color), and the other was either a tint (white added to it - Tai) or a shade (black added to it - Phat).

So theirs really should have been a story about how even though they were soulmates, they wouldn't work romantically because they were too similar.

The same for Secret Crush on You's Sky and Jao.

Pink is not a separate color on the Color Wheel. Violet is, which is a third-level color mixed between red and purple, but pink is really a tint of red (red with white added to it).

So Jao and Sky were essentially the same color.

Which is different from Kiseki: Dear to Me's Eddie x Chen Yi who didn't have a specific color assigned to them, but just simply matched colors.

Honestly, I like when couples match colors, clothing, accessories, y todo. It's very Midwestern-family vacation vibes.

Like nothing says "we are a couple" more than matching colors, matching dog tags, and matching body pillows, you know?

As an aside: Color coding makes me really reflect on the story and what it is trying to say. For instance, I, a bisexual, am very against bi-colored characters because I want them to pick one color, but isn't the whole point of a bi-colored character is that they don't have to pick just one color? Same with same-color couples. I'm watching a queer love story and demanding different colors from each person, yet doesn't the same color reinforce the homo part of the story?

General Review:

Just wow. I did in fact spend like all day reading this and I do not regret it and even though it’s not done… this is literally a 5/5 read. Firstly the way that my baby Tay writes is so phenomenal and the depictions of the relationships and the amount of emotions and thought they she puts throughout the story makes everything so worth it. I really felt so attached to the characters and the overall story like i didn’t care how long the chapters were because i was so interested in the world she build and the CHARACTERS. Like it just keeps getting better and better; the amount of drama and messy that kept me on my toes every chapter. I cannot wait for the next chapter. The amount of stuff that went down in this fic and the route it’s going down idek how she got the life depicted in the first chapter because it’s shit happening every second like whew. I literally got so emotional reading this especially the more recent chapters because my heart hurtssss for reader so bad and it’s just so much strain on her and idgaf that’s my girl! I support women’s wrongs and she got a lot of them but that’s my baby like omg!

Now let’s delve in to my reactions ofc 🙈

CHAPTER 1: okay so obsessed with the fact that reader has a daughter firstly. The way you describe reader’s relationship and the dynamic she has with Armin and even the shift to his pov was very seamless and perfectoooo. The way you got in his head and i feel immersed inside of his thoughts about her and i just thought it was really well written and so beautifully executed. “Being with you but not truly being with you was like having an itch that begged to be scratched.” Like that line right there? It burneddd me and make me feel for him and overall i got invested. Can I add that Armin working in a bakery was very on par with his character lol? Like i love it. Your description of anything is very addicting as well let me add, im a sucker for details so i loved it. I was cheesing DOWN during their moments and when he took her to their childhood hangout place and the hold “date” bit came up and the “but even so, the implication of romance with him felt as natural as breathing.” Likeeee omg i was blushing. “I was always planning on leaving, but…not without you.” Oh that moved me like bad. I’m a sucker for childhood friends to lovers and hearing them reminiscing and just wanting to move out of where they are to make a lifeee was so good. “Since when was he ever so lucky? Since when did fate decide to show him a little bit of pity and mercy? The universe had taken everything from him before he was even old enough to know how to spell the word “universe.”” UGHH you’re killing meeee. And then armin’s backstory stop 😞😞😞.
