Former Thundercats (2011) art director Dan Norton reveals what the creative team had planned for the rest of the short-lived series.
This is must-hear info for all TCats 2011 fans! Personally, I love Bengali as Tygra’s son, and I’ve shipped Lion-O/Kit from the start, so I’m pretty happy about this. But also unhappy that I’ll never get to see it. *Sigh*...
The second season would have been amazing. T_T

Tyrian and TCat: Chapter 1 – Beginnings that are not humble at all:
Tyrian awoke that day like any other, rolling over in his bed and seeing the huge guard dogs lining his room. The young dragon kin collects himself, pulling on his very expensive clothes, and standing from his bed. Tyrian stood 5 foot tall in his teenage years, a bright bronze colour to his scales. Across the room another life is coming back to consciousness not stood to attention with the other guard dogs. The panther pup, not quite used to his duties yet decided to have a lie in. “Sleep well Thundercat?” Tyrian said aloud to the small panther pup, TC in response shakes his head and lies back into his comfy spot. Speaking to the room Tyrian says, “lets get going then guys, my parents are no doubt waiting again”. At his command the guard dogs begin to filter out of the room and continue down the hallways with Tyrian in tow. Walking past the many portraits of dragon kin just like him, Tyrian can’t help but lament his predicament. As the son of a prolific bronze dragon kin he is to take over the family soon. He and his sister are the heirs to the lone pure blood bronze dragon kin in Neverwinter and as a first born it lands on him. Tyrian approaches the door at the end of the hallway pushing through into the grandiose room filled with a long table able to seat 20+ people. The whole room feeling completely unnecessary for the process of eating. At one end is his mother and father, the other his sister and without a thought he sits in the centre as far from everyone as possible. “You finally decided to join us then” snapped his mother, bitter towards him as she always was. “Yes mother, The dogs wanted some extra sleep and who am I to stop them”. “Their master, Tyrian”, said his mother dryly, Tyrian did not agree with this assertion. While the animals never directly spoke to him, he could talk to them and they did not feel like his servants. They were his friends, “Mother they are my friends and family, not my servants”. Tyrians whole family recoiled at the idea and tried to continue their previous conversation to avoid dealing with the topic. “So Darla I hear that your fencing lessons have been progressing nicely, you will be a champion swordsmen like your father in no time”, said Tyrians mother. “Yes, Mother” Darla replied, “that’s because I practice instead of flinging small pieces of wood with a glorified piece of string”. This was a bold face dig at Tyrian and his recently discovered love of archery. It was not common for royalty in Neverwinter to hunt, as such sword play was the expected path. ”Oh Tyrian you haven’t started the hunting nonsense again have you?” Chastised his mother. “Yes I have and I will continue, it is what I was born to do”, replied Tyrian. “Tyrian you were born to lead, you were born to learn of your roots and this countries past, and to learn the art of sword fighting. You were not born to shoot a bow, hunt and make friends with the help” Shouted his mother. The room fell silent, the help stood still, Tyrian, his mother, farther and sister all stared at each other for seconds before Darla broke the silence with a single sentence that changed their lives forever. “If you are so out of place in this family why do you continue to be a part of it”. Tyrian tried to think of the reason his sister had asked for but was remiss to think of one. “You may be right sister”, said Tyrian, “But where else would I go without you all”. With head held low and a sadness filling the air Tyrian returned to his room and lay on his bed returning to a sleep in which he isn’t surrounded by reminders of his incomitance.
The sleep Tyrian experiences is anything but restful, the events of his short life rolling through his mind. At the young age of 3 he was beginning to come into his adulthood, no knowledge in his head, no skills of royal merit, nothing but his friendship with his guard animals. He must really be a burden to his parents. With all of this rolling through his mind, he begins to roll over and then again and again, until snapping awake he realises he is no longer in his bed. The wet grass floor underneath him, the mud of the hill he just rolled down across his body. Standing up straight and looking around he sees the faint glimmer of a magical portal at the top of the hill with his father’s face in view. “Never return Tyrian, you…. We are better without your presence in this family” his father said with a sadness to his voice as the portal closed in front of Tyrians eyes. So much had just occurred, he struggled to comprehend the ramifications of it. Looking around he sees a backpack with his favourite bow attached. Clearly his father packed him something to at least put off his death. Watching the bag sit there, Tyrian is sure he sees it move, then again. “Hello” Tyrian says aloud, not even sure why he is saying it himself. At the word the moving stops and from the top of the bag a small black head pops out, looking into the eyes of the panther pup that was sat in his pack he swears in his head he hears a quiet voice say “I wouldn’t let you go alone”. Staring into the eyes of thundercat, stood in the forest, Tyrian collects his things ready to finally live a life he is in control of.
