Derek is a little horrified when he finds himself now considering this kid as not just Stiles: Scott's Idiot Best Friend, but as Stiles: Maybe-Friend of Derek. When an image of Stiles's mouth pops up in his mind's eye, Derek also wonders exactly when it was that he started looking at Stiles in that way.

Last Line Game

All of my last lines don't make sense without context, so I'm gonna cheat. Here's something from a WIP that will never see the light of day!

As soon as Steve pulls out, Billy feels something in himself snap, crack, and give way. 

Steve’s zipper is a shotgun blast.

The breath he takes, shaky as a newborn deer, is fresh earth shoveled over them suffocating the moment. Steve says, “If you tell anyone about this–” As if he can hear the thoughts that race through Billy’s head when he lies awake at night, two seconds from snatching his keys off the stand and twisting his Camaro around the base of an oak tree to make the feeling go away–

“If you tell anyone,” Steve tries again like he knows. He hears the yearn of Billy’s car engine all the way across town. He tastes the feeling on his own tongue but it but doesn’t believe it. Not really. “I swear to God–” 

“I want to wake up tomorrow,” Billy says. 

It’s hollow. 

Something in it makes Steve clear his throat. His fingers close around Billy’s arm, gentle as clinging vines, until Billy can see the storm on his face. “I was gonna say if you tell anyone about this,” Steve says softly, “We’ll have to run.”

Stiles swept his notebook into his bag. “I better go. Thanks, Peter.” He took the coffee with when he left. He tried to hurry, but Derek caught up to him before he got into the jeep. “Have you still been sleepwalking?” he asked. Stiles swung around, annoyed. “Hello to you too,” he said sourly. “Hey,” he said. “So? Sleepwalking?” “That’s not really your business.” His brows furrowed. “I want to help you-” “I-” He bit off the rest of that sentence. He couldn’t honestly say he didn’t need help. “No,” he said through his teeth. “Last night I did not sleepwalk.” He shouldered past him and opened the door, tossing his bag to the passenger seat. “Can I go now or did you have more questions?” Derek crossed his arms. “Did you use magic last time you walked?” Stiles’s face screwed up. “What?” His gaze darted around anxiously. “No. I’ve told all of you—it hasn’t happened since-since that once.” Fear made his voice tight, angrier than he meant for it to come out.

3 SHIPS: the toppest of trios, for me, is destiel, sterek and harringrove. in that order! (honorary mention to pynch and geraskier both of which almost tie with the latter).

FIRST SHIP: oooh i reckon it must be fox and dana from the x files *alexa play mulder & scully by catatonia* or actually maybe it's fox and sunflower seeds...

CURRENTLY CONSUMING: too much coffee, lots of water, and my sterek spotify playlist bc the biles × sourwolf brainrot is extremely strong rn. oh, and some new german words: aufregend! #duolingo

LAST MOVIE: the outfit (2022) by graham moore. it's sort of a mobster movie but not really and feels kind of like a play? it stars the excellent mark rylance, along with zoe deutsch and dylan o'brien. i enjoyed all of them and it very much.

LAST SONG: i know the shape by german error message.

CURRENTLY WATCHING: s4 of servant

CURRENTLY READING: just about to start how to be autistic by the wonderful poe and i'm also up to ch.6 of madi's brilliant sterek WIP fic light a spark.

i'm afraid my snooty phone won't allow me to grab my lockscreen for some reason? so you get my wallpaper instead which is the bare bones of my latest sterek piece (stiles and derek from teen wolf). you can see the finished product HERE on my sterek blog @teencopandthesourwolf you even care lol

the last song i listened to was north by phoenix and it's on one of my two instrumental spotify playlists (the other is a film/tv score affair) that i named 🫀 (HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS). i was listening to it earlier whilst reading @wolfspurr's post-nogitsune!stiles sterek fic WAY DOWN WE GO which i've only just started and am loving so far! the track actually has wolf howls in the mix at around the 4.20 mark—how apt/cool is that?!

and the celebrity photo is of tyler hoechlin, AKA teen wolf's derek hale, because i was looking for art references. i adore the collection it's from, which was a so it goes magazine shoot (which i can't find an original link for? but if you google search it along with tyler's name, you can find the pics easily). the rural setting and b&w film and THE BUSHY BEARD ASHJKKSKK is a lovely combination imo, and this particular pic is so dynamic that i just had to have it—y'know. for art's sake xp
