Happy New Year's everyone! I hope that you have a good New Year's and a good 2025! Now onto devlog thoughts!

This honestly my favorite preview pics that we got. Simply iconic. Speaks for itself. While my first thought is it's Andrew's dream/vision/psyche, it can be Ashley embracing cannibalism as a central part of her self-image/identity. Which is always interesting to see more.

I guess this is what happens on Friendship and maybe Romance route of Decay where they successfully reconciled? I wonder if this is before they stand off with the demon, or the demon's concerned about them. This feels like a standoff with how final boss vibes this place is. But it's always possible this is when something else happens, like a new transformation? (please have them turn into demons)

So this friend from primary school is still friends with Andrew in adulthood. I wonder what happened to him, especially since he didn't help him out in quarantine. Rip Andrew though, he seemed to be both smoking and drunk. Or sick.

Goddamn, that's a spike in CGs, with episode 4 not even being revealed yet. And all of that content with no satisfying cliffhanger.

And now onto the devlog video!

It's interesting that it acts like a video rewinding, suggesting Andrew has the TV motif like Ashley has. This might be part of the demon's powers, since Burial vision has it start with a TV screen and the six eyes in TV screens when you're going through Ashley's past and murders. Or it could be a gameplay feature explained as the demon's powers.

TV motifs are also very interesting in regards to the siblings. They tie in with Andrew's obsession with the gaze and Ashley's insistence of simplicity and remaining a child. It can also mean the demon is watching them carefully and is actually their puppetmaster. This may spawn its own analysis/theory post, but for now, on to the actual video.

It's so strange and funny to have the friends to be like the dummy-looking sprites. It doesn't seem to be a placeholder and an actual reflection of Andrew's psyche at this point. It appears the fully detailed sprites only go to people he deem most important in his life.

So it is confirmed Ashley did get bullied in high school. And Julia was the one who helped her deal with them, but they don't always get along enough for her to be reliable. Ouch. But on a bright side, we finally get to see Teenshley's sprites and she is so damn adorable, I love her so much.

Also that detail of Andrew's shoes being so worn out is. Ouch. How much money did he have to give to his parents that he couldn't even get new shoes?

Guy really defended his friend from incest allegations and then called Ashley that. Yeah no wonder why Andrew just kinda tolerates him.

And of course that douchebag only wants to fuck Ashley because. This does confirm my speculation Ashley was desired in high school for her body by boys, but to what extent is a mystery. Cause this guy is such a sleazy horndog to the point his own friend told him straight to his face he wouldn't even let him date his sisters.

This appears to be right before or soon before Andrew asks Julia out, especially since Julia is worried if Ashley hates her. Though interestingly Ashley is blank-faced about not on talking terms with Julia.

Anyway, this is a very interesting devlog, definitely one of my favorites!

I love how this is how Andrew sees his sister. Just a weirdo cannibal.

Just as I thought, Ashley did in fact know that she was leading Andrew through the places she saw in her vision. And from the looks of things, she seems confident that she "fixed" Andrew to not try to attack her like in the vision. (We'll see about that now that she's called him "Andy")

Obviously Andrew is throwing up, but the real question is WHEN does this take place? Is it before quarantine or did the siblings decide to go see if friends of theirs would help out? If it's the latter, that's ballsy as fuck, considering they're supposed to be dead.

And Jesus Christ, we're eating great today, we're finally seeing so many more things about Andrew's friends. Of course the video where we see more of Friend B. Guess what, this devlog isn't the first time we've seen him! We saw him in this screenshot back in Devlog 07

So it's really cool to see that he's stayed in Andrew's life for at least 10 years. I hope we get a name for him since he seems important.

Anyway that's pretty much all besides a release date from Nemlei: FEBRUARY 30th!

Pffft- she's such a jokester. I love the fact that she finds humor in torturing the fandom frothing at the mouth waiting for a real release date. (I'm actually sobbing because I'm one of these people. I'm just laughing to hide the pain)

My selfish wish is that we get some Official Art of the siblings, like we've gotten in the past—but that's just wishful thinking. With what we know from 3 A, I wonder how people will theorycraft with new images.

NOVEMBER DEVLOG!!!

happy november!!! we have a devlog :3 this time from nemlei!!

this is the thumbnail image!! are they KISSING???? YIPPEE!!!!!

second, we have this! i love this little room they’re in, but what is it?? it looks like a carnival was built in a lighthouse. is it real? a dream? who knows!! & they’re so cute sitting together…

ha ha, very funny Mr Hexed. this is another glimpse into the woods / campsite that they find themselves in and i still can’t quite figure out what’s going on!! hey, it you’re going to be on the run from the cops, i guess the middle of nowhere is the safest place… it’s not like they can really be tracked without phones :p

last month’s poll resulted in over four thousand votes for episodes 3A and 4 to be published together when episode 4 is done. there isn’t an estimated timeline for when, exactly, that will happen, but nemlei expects at least a year…

no new news on burial, this devlog!! unfortunate, but i kind of expected it since not a whole lot of work has been done on it. i’ll miss not having a new episode or two or three to play for so long, but i hope that means the remaining episodes will be really enjoyable :3

very very interesting that the decay route is a moral decay & for andrew specifically. ashley, as we know, doesn’t have a strict moral code (or any morals), but andrew “does”. it’s been very important for him to pretend to have morals for a long time, and after that lovely talk with his mom, he doesn’t see the point in pretending anymore. it was clear that there was some kind of decay going on between andrew and ashley, but now we know it’s andrew throwing morality and “goodness” out of the window, and blaming it on ashley. poor ashley. we’ve seen in some devlogs that he’s no longer concerned with being nice to ashley, and i’m personally excited to see him get Much Worse. i love that he’s awful <3

there is still a little hope in my heart that they can have fun together & that somewhere in there will be a chance to switch from decay to burial, but we’ll see!! as they’ve said, decay isn’t the “bad” route necessarily, and i’m excited for it either way :D

Hello, my stars! Normally I don't bother addressing the progress reports or the devlogs for The Coffin of Andy and Leyley; however, this one devlog did stick out to me.

I almost felt like as a member of the community that I had to say something, even if it wasn't personal or directed to me at all. As someone who joined this game due to hearing the controversies of the creator and what they're doing, I feel like I can speak on at least MY behalf for the non-incest supporters.

What's under this cut might contain opinions you don't agree with. Don't be like Nemlei's haters and target me, just scroll away if you disagree with me. I will not engage in an argument with a stranger online where I don't even know their face; that's childish.

Under this cut will feature: opinions potentially different from yours, incest-related topics, oversharing of my life, and sexual abuse. If you are not comfortable with that, just scroll away and don't keep reading.

I had never knew who Nemlei was until I heard about the controversy surrounding them. When I heard about the game featuring incest-related topics, I was pretty disgusted. Incest in 2024? I thought we evolved far enough from the past to forget about this.

The reason why I'm so against incest is because I have siblings myself; biological siblings, half-blooded siblings, and step siblings. So I always found it revolting. Whenever I thought of the incest in Nemeli's game, I always felt disturbed because I always thought of my siblings.

It's like when you watch a movie and the father dies (if you have a good relationship with your father, that is) I would always ball my eyes out. I've always been pretty sensitive when it came to family due to the fact I was raised to always love your family so long as they love you; but I never took that sense in something farther than familial love.

I also don't believe in incest due to the harm that could happen if two blood-related people procreated. As someone who works with children on a daily basis, just seeing them scrape their knee pains me to know they're hurt. If they were in constant pain due to a genetic error that could've been prevented, I would be furious at the parents and pity the kid. I also believe in if the parent was able to go after their own father/mother/sibling, who is to say they won't go after their own child who doesn't know any better?

I do completely understand the argument between fiction and reality. As someone who writes about murder in my stories, it obviously doesn't make me a murderer; however, glamorizing and romanticizing it is where I cross the line. I've always had warnings in my work. I firmly believe that if you cannot tell the difference between fiction and reality, you should not read my work let alone be allowed access to the internet.

Why do I allow murder in my stories but not incest? Well, for starters, incest is a long term kind of ordeal, it usually doesn't suddenly happen, it builds up over time in the acts of grooming and most incest cases are because of unwanted sexual abuse that evolves into manipulation and a eventually the victim developing a toxic love I’d describe closest to Stockholm Syndrome (just without the kidnapping) . Murder however, doesn't always have to be planned, hence why there's first-degree, second-degree, and third-degree. A sudden murder on a stranger doesn't have that psychological abuse on the victim as it happens so fast and they're, you know, dead.

Think of it this way. If I had to go out, I would rather it happen quick than slow. I assume most others would agree with me too. We humans don't like pain, so why would we willingly prolong a person's misery if we ourselves don't like it?

I'm stalling though. The biggest reason I don't support incest is because of what happens to the victim afterwards. My cousin was a victim of molestation from her biological father, and my aunt was a victim of sexual abuse from her step-father (which falls under the category of step-incest).

Incest does not in any means involve consent. My real, biological family did not consent to what happened to them and to this day they struggle from what happened to them at early ages.

Real life incest also seems to tag into pedophilia. Most children who have unfortunately suffered from sexual abuse and assault know their perpetuators as their own family. It’s that gross belief that pedophiles and pro-incesters have alike: “Any hole is a goal,” whether it’s a child or your own blood. It also doesn’t help that those who believe in incest also usually have sociopathic tendencies and beliefs, and there have been crimes of murder committed because of one-sided incestual love; but of course, that’s the real life stuff, not fiction like the TCOAAL game is. My problem is having the audacity to glamorize and romanticize such ill-behavior; not taking into account that it’s fiction.

So, you can see why I'm against incest so much. But that leaves the question: why am I apart of The Coffin of Andy and Leyley community if I don't support their implied-incest, fiction or not?

Because The Coffin of Andy and Leyley is so much more than that.

It's not just incest and those who think it is are completely stupid. It is a "psychological horror game" which means it is supposed to mess with your mind. Horror doesn't mean blood and guts, it's meant to gross you out too, which is what Nemlei understands.

"Psychological" means your way of thinking, psychological horror is supposed to terrorize your brain and test your way of thinking, not terrorize your eyes with an unrealistic amount of blood or a stab wound.

The “allowing murder and cannibalism but not incest” argument? Yeah, that’s not really valid and here’s why.

Yeah there was murder in The Coffin of Andy and Leyley, but it wasn't mindless. Most of the murders were self-defense (killing the wardens to escape, killing the lady in the apartment because she tried to hurt Andrew and tell the wardens, killing the hitman because he tried to kill them first).

The murder of the Graves parents were iffy, but hey, if you believe in revenge murder because of the psychological damage your parents put you through, then sure (fictionally, of course). The murder of Nina was uncalled for, I can't justify that one nor do I really understand why Ashley wanted it other than jealousy and for Andrew to focus solely on her, but go off I guess Nemlei.

And let's not forget the classic cannibalism, which was done to literally survive. There is a law in some places where if you're in a life or death situation with absolutely no access to food, you can cannibalize in means to survive. It’s messed up, but at the end of the day if it needs to be done, it needs to be done.

And it's a horrifying and a mind-boggling concept, and yet so well-thought out! That is the true meaning of psychological horror, it fucks with your brain in a way you can understand why, but don't like it. It’s literally a true example of psychological horror!

I have this saying that I believe in: "You don't have to like a person to appreciate their hard work.”

Even with all the Nemlei controversy, she doesn't deserve the kind of hate she receives. I mean, telling someone to kill themselves? Just how immature are you? I bet you wouldn't say that if you were face-to-face with her; people on the internet are too careless, leaving digital footprints that will trace back to them. Karma will get them, don't worry.

Which was pretty immature and petty to do knowing how crazy people on the internet are, she still doesn't deserve to literally be chased off the internet for her own fictional creations. It's funny how people will hate on her and her work, yet check each and every devlog, stalk her social medias, and dox her. It's disgusting behavior and I'm ashamed to say that they're not even human.

How could you treat a fellow human, with different experiences and problems, different and ostracize them all because you don't agree with their opinions? Haven't you ever heard to shut your mouth if you have nothing nice to say?

I’ve been in a few dark ages myself, but I can never imagine the fear and the anxiety Nemlei must go through on a day-to-day basics because of these so-called “fellow humans” who seek out to hurt her.

I think I would rather jump a cliff myself than tell someone that I don’t even know to commit suicide (or worse, someone I do know, which I seriously doubt you reading this are personal with Nemlei). I have diagnosed depression and take medication for it, so to hear that comment on the wrong day, would might literally be the end of my life; and it’s something I would never wish upon someone else to hear. Especially someone who has a passion and works hard to it; whether you like it or not, it makes her happy, and as long as it’s not actually hurting people in real life, then none of us have a say in it.

But anyways, I think I said what I wanted to say.

Treat everyone with the kindness you were treat yourself. And if you don't treat yourself kindly, start working on it. If you disrespect yourself, others will too. We really don’t live long enough to care about what others think because let’s face it, the whole world will never agree on one thing, it’s why we have separate political parties and laws varying in every country and state.

We really just have to make the best we can in the world. Goodness should be embodied into our realities, not just fiction. Be the change you want to see.

February 2025 Devlog

Not much to analyze on this devlog this month, it's pretty straightforward but very welcome.

I'm surprised that the 302 lady is treated more like an afterthought by Nemlei. Then again, it's doubtful that Ashley will ever get the truth of the matter, which yeah, sometimes that just happens.

The explicit confirmation Andrew has a big dick is very funny, especially when that was already implied in Burial. And the fact Ashley's tits are not as big as she likes to hype them up to be. I also am surprised that people actually asked if Ashley's disinterested in sex when the Burial route and November devlog has her clearly open to trying it out. I guess it's good to have that cleared up.

I'm sad that (as far as we know), TCOAAL and Nemlei's other games are not in the same universe, they just share similar looking motifs, but oh well, fan fiction and mods exist. A part of me thinks it may be Nemlei not being sure yet on what the connection is, but I'll just treat it as non-canon until then.

I'm not sure if Nemlei saying "Don't look into the characters' names too much" is actually true or not, especially since Renee is very on the nose. I'll just stick to my probably-conspiracy-theory headcanon in the mean time.

I wonder how Burial will be different now it's confirmed it won't have the same flashbacks as Decay. Maybe it will be related whatever event's in the present.

The fact that Renee and Andrew want to discuss about them leaving quietly and pretending that neither of them committed a crime is interesting. I guess Renee didn't want to do a paper trail if she has them get killed off without the ritual, but will because she can't trust that Andrew would pull off that same shit even if he rescues her. Which man, that is tragic for Andrew, even as stupid as he was in that video.

But really what got me the most excited is that Mr. Graves is going to have a sprite!!!! And we get to maybe see what Renee was actually doing with the insurance!!!

So, it looks like that Andrew and Ashley are going to be living in the Demon Realm. This is a really cool development on what the tower we keep seeing is. It's essentially their house. I hope the demon doesn't charge them rent.

Somehow the game got caught in a shitflinging contest between the self-appointed morality police, and the people sick and tired of being told what kind of fiction they're allowed to read. Suddenly, life gave me two choices, much like a visual novel would. Do I take the game down to appease the people telling me to kill myself? Or do I create the story I already wanted to create and get paid for it? Boy oh boy, what a dilemma. I contemplated it for all of two nano seconds! [...] I want to thank you, my dear audience, for all your support. And I also want to thank the people who tirelessly pissed and moaned about some crappy indie game for months and months and months, helping it gain popularity beyond my comprehension. My opinion on this video rrrright here

At the end of the video, the creators asked the viewers if this should be added into the final game. And I think not bc I feel like it hinders Andrew as a character And IK it’s supposed to be hehe funny joke!!! But this point in the game it’s important and it’s mocking people who might not wanna go through the burial route. And also that’s further proving peoples point that the creator is into sibling diddling bc saying no in that dialogue (I think) leads to the burial(?) route (the one where they fuck)

But hey that’s just my 2 cents, maybe I’m thinking too hard
