"Today in Politics: PM Modi's Campaign in Andhra Pradesh and Congress's Focus on Family Strongholds"
As the electoral fervor intensifies across India, today’s political landscape sees Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarking on a campaign trail in Andhra Pradesh, while the Congress Party strategizes its stronghold defense in Uttar Pradesh. Let’s delve into the highlights of the day’s political agenda.
Tumblr media
PM Modi’s Foray into Andhra Pradesh
In a strategic move to bolster BJP’s presence in southern territories, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address a series of rallies in Andhra Pradesh. Partnering with former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and actor-politician K Pawan Kalyan’s JanaSena Party (JSP), the BJP aims to make significant inroads into the state’s political landscape.
PM Modi’s itinerary includes rallies in Karimnagar, Warangal, and Rajampet, along with a notable roadshow in Vijayawada. Additionally, he will pay homage at the revered Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple in Karimnagar.
Although the BJP’s footprint in Andhra Pradesh remains modest, recent alliances with TDP and JSP signify a strategic maneuver to challenge the incumbent YSR Congress Party’s dominance.
Congress’s Defense Strategy in Uttar Pradesh
Meanwhile, the Congress Party gears up to defend its family bastions in Uttar Pradesh, specifically Amethi and Raebareli. Following a delayed announcement of candidates, Priyanka Gandhi, the party’s general secretary, is poised to spearhead the campaign in these crucial constituencies.
In a notable move, Rahul Gandhi, former MP from Amethi, shifts his electoral focus to Raebareli. Kishorilal Sharma, a trusted aide of the Gandhi family, steps into the fray in Amethi, marking a significant transition in the electoral landscape.
Priyanka Gandhi’s proactive engagement with party workers underscores the party’s concerted efforts to reclaim its strongholds. With veteran leaders Ashok Gehlot and Bhupesh Baghel appointed as observers, the Congress aims to optimize its campaign strategy for maximum impact.
Repolling in Barmer
In a development highlighting the integrity of the electoral process, repolling is scheduled in Rajasthan’s Barmer Lok Sabha seat due to breaches of vote confidentiality. The Election Commission’s decisive action underscores its commitment to upholding electoral integrity.
As the political arena brims with activity, each maneuver and campaign rally shape the contours of India’s electoral landscape. Stay tuned for further updates as the nation marches towards the culmination of the electoral process.

Pawan Kalyan's 'Power Star' Brightens Pithapuram with Strong Community Support
The political landscape in Pithapuram, once overshadowed, now gleams with the presence of JanaSena Party (JSP) chief and superstar Pawan Kalyan. As he steps into the arena for the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, scheduled for May 13, the spotlight shines on this previously obscure constituency.
Tumblr media
Kalyan’s candidacy has sparked fervent enthusiasm among locals, eager to elect their beloved “Power Star” to the Assembly. Camped in the constituency for weeks, Kalyan’s presence at his residence and party office draws crowds, contrasting starkly with the relatively deserted YSRCP office.
Supported by the influential Kapu and Matsyakara communities, Kalyan’s candidacy resonates deeply with locals. The Kapus, constituting 70–75% of the constituency, stand firmly behind their community member. Meanwhile, the Matsyakaras see Kalyan as a voice for their concerns, especially following last November’s Visakhapatnam harbor fire, where Kalyan’s prompt response earned him further admiration.
Despite skepticism from some quarters and reminders of unfulfilled promises, Kalyan’s mass appeal as a film star and the backing of dominant community groups bolster his campaign. The JSP’s alliance with BJP and TDP, coupled with promises of employment generation and promotion of temple tourism, further solidifies his standing.
In the midst of the political buzz, residents articulate their hopes for meaningful change, emphasizing the need for tangible opportunities and secure livelihoods. With Kalyan’s candidacy symbolizing a beacon of aspiration, Pithapuram awaits the verdict, poised for a potential political transformation.

TDP National Chief Chandrababu Naidu who once dictated the national politics has found himself in a soup. The veteran politician is unable to decide upon what stand he has to take in the No Confidence Motion. It is a known fact that the Indian National Democratic Association aka INDIA headed by Congress introduced the No Confidence Motion on Indian Prime Minister Modi and his BJP-led NDA Government the other day in the Parliament. BRS which was untouched by any party and known for its enmity with Modi voted against him. YSRCP openly supported Modi and declared that there is no need for this motion. However, Chandrababu Naidu, was neither asked by the NDA to support it nor he was invited to the INDIA’s united meeting held in Bengaluru last week. Despite all this, CBN wants to support Modi as he is looking forward to seeking its support along with Janasena in 2024’s general polls, and on the flip side, he doesn’t want to sound desperate since his party leaders are expressing confidence in winning alone. CBN was once a part of NDA and it was he who left the alliance before 2019’s elections and went alone. There were days when he dictated the alliance being the chairperson for NDA in the past. Political experts feel that the NDA would have no issues if CBN wants to rejoin its forces with the saffron party.

Pawan Kalyan can change to changing times!
With changing times, people do change and Pawan Kalyan is no exception to it. His support at the time of 2014 elections towards the TDP and BJP has certainly backlashed.   Pawan’s belief and support motivated people to vote TDP-BJP alliance in AP. Then what changed in 4 years? Jana Sena Chief now confess it is practically impossible to fulfill the promises mentioned in their manifesto. He asserts…

via Today Bharat nbsp; Actor-politician and Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief Pawan Kalyan on Saturday lashed out at the ruling YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh and said that it had cheated farmers and people of the Amaravati region. Pawan Kalyan was speaking as part of his tour in the Amaravati region, where he visited protest camps at Annavaram, Tulluru, Velagapudi and Mandadam. He spoke to farmers who have been protesting for close to two months over the state government's proposal to have three capitals mdash; a legislative one (Amaravati), an executive capital (Visakhapatnam) and a judicial capital (Kurnool). "The successive governments must implement the policy decisions of previous governments are making corrections if there are any mistakes. They should not reverse the decisions. Amaravati was decided as the capital city in 2014 itself," Pawan said. "The YSRCP got votes by promising people that they will continue Amaravati as the capital city. The YSRCP has betrayed the people of the capital region...When the people have given a huge mandate to the YSRCP government, in turn, it has given instability," he added. Stating that he had taken up the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Pawan further said, "The situation has arisen where the Centre has to pay because of mistakes committed by the state government. No deliberation has taken place between the state government and the Centre on the shifting of the capital. If the YSRCP says that the decision has approval from the Centre, then ask them to show the written assurance." The actor-politician stated that the BJP and the JSP, which are in an alliance in Andhra Pradesh, stuck to the decision taken by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and its chief, N Chandrababu Naidu, when they were in power. "The decision taken by the previous government is clear and in written format and the BJP is confined to it. Janasena and BJP have come to an understanding in written about Amaravati, that it will be the capital city of Andhra Pradesh. Amaravati will not be shifted anywhere. Even if it is shifted, it will come back," Pawan said. Last month, the BJP and the JSP said that they had decided to form an alliance in Andhra Pradesh, in view of the situation arising out of YSRCP government's proposal to decentralise the state's capital. The alliance came seven months after Pawan suffered a massive defeat in the elections.

The United Opposition formed an alliance in the name of the INDIA-Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance to introduce the No Confidence Motion on the BJP-led NDA Sarkar in Parliament today. After 20 years, the Congress-led INDIA wants to see the strength of the BJP as the general elections of 2024 are nearing. However, NDA has got stunning support from the MPs of its allies but this motion would give us clarity about the political parties of the two Telugu States. The BRS party in Telangana which was not a part of the INDIA alliance supported the No Confidence Motion for its enmity with the BJP and Modi. Coming to Andhra Pradesh, the ruling party YSRCP always supports the BJP and its MP Vijaya Sai Reddy declared that the 22 YSRCP MPs would go against the No Confidence Motion as they found no fault with the BJP-led NDA Government. However, the entire focus is shifted to the TDP whether or not it supports its ex-partner BJP. Even though the 3 MPs of TDP will not make a difference in either winning or losing, the decision of the TDP Chief tells us if it will join forces with the Central Government in 2024’s general elections or not. Janasena is trying its best to bring BJP and TDP together and its Chief Pawan Kalyan wants to use the anti-incumbency to dethrone Jagan by realigning the Grand Alliance of 2014 which brought power to the TDP. All eyes are set on the TDP in this regard and the experts are waiting for TDP’s response on the No Confidence Motion.
