A letter to you all, but to past self. I say this sincerely (with big but fair generalisations)

I really do hope you all get over you tc crushes/loves. Been there done that. It ends very underwhelmingly, most of the time. 

You finish school, you go elsewhere, they stay there and heck, they either stay married or get married. Maybe stay forever alone. But that’s their shit to deal with. You’re just entering/dealing with adulthood whilst learning how to do life. 

Trust me, tcs’ don’t want to waste your youth, they only want to dabble into yours for a while because they are unfulfilled, lonely, and/or sick. You don’t yet have the full scope of understanding to support them fully because you’re still growing. 

But yes you still want to soothe their hurts away. and yes you potentially can, but not now.

Of course these words won’t stop you from your crushes and loves. It didn’t stop me, and that’s okay. But soon or eventually someone will move on . You’ll still brush paths with them, especially if you know that you’ll be a part of each other’s lives. 

Him and I will always brush paths, but instead of pain and longing being present, there’s fondness, lightness and fulfillment on both ends. But that’s the case for me.

So I hope you get over your tc crushes/loves. It helps you become more empathetic to victims, gives you tools on what healthy and unhealthy relationships look like, gives you awareness on when you see grooming occur, allows you to grow and understand yourself and your tc and why it all happened in the first place. Lastly, it gives room for you to hold close to memories that can be drawn upon with bittersweetness that won’t give you anguish.

Sometimes, it’ll be like the opposite of pandora’s box, as the little thing you keep coming back to is “what if?”. Just one loose string remains. Be grateful for that and heck cherish that because it gives you something that helps you remember you prime times with your tc. That loose string keeps those times real and valid. 

So my update: He’s married now, with a child too and I? Well I’m conquering my vicinity and living my young adult life as wildly and powerfully as I can. And we’re both okay and doing fine.
