I just read your recent post about Imp! Sweetheart and I could not agree more. This isn't an offense to Erik but I also felt really disappointed when Sweetheart was hardly ever shown in the Imperium even though they were probably one of the more important listener characters compared to others. I thought I was one of very few people who thought this way and no one else has spoke about it (as far as I've seen) so I'm glad you made an analysis on that. Also I only noticed now that you mentioned it but Asher and David's relationship really was put in the spotlight a lot even though David is, you know, dead. I remember listening to Cataclysm | Last Wish and when Asher left the room I got all excited because I thought we would at least get a one-on-one scene with Milo but I remember had to pause the video and have a moment of silence because we didn't get it 😭😭

All in all, I rambled long enough and your analysis was really thorough and nice to read because I agree with you. Take care now! 🫂💕

it really is so disappointing because erik gives sweetheart's character so much weight with absolutely zero follow through. the scene with ash and milo in the bedroom was the perfect opportunity to give us a look at how fiercely protective sweetheart is, or just show us a shred of their personality or dynamic with milo. don't get me wrong, the david and asher romance was an interesting plot point that could have been used really creatively, but it was all-consuming and overused

isn’t it a bit strange to profit off of someone’s art style by copying it and redistribution fake versions? i mean just making them is harmless but selling them?

in my eyes, it's not copying someone's style, but that's up to interpretation. i think that if you consider this stealing from someone, then it's time to see if these stickers are all theft too:

the fact is, most art is derived from other's art as well, and it's important to give credit to those who inspire you. in my case, i called them "redacted-style thumbnails" because they are in erik's classic style, but they are still my original work. not his.

the best part about commissions is that if you don't agree/like/support the art/artist, you are not obligated to boost/buy.

hi! definitely didn't see this ask but here's kinda what i got from them about the caelum situation:

the general consensus i received from the mod i messaged was that they were aware that this was becoming a problem, but really have no control over what the fans do outside of the server (which is very valid)

after i explained that some of us who are frustrated by this have just started blocking/filtering the users who are supporting sexualizing caelum, the particular mod did encourage that if the content bothers you to use the different methods across various platforms to block/filter these users. it's better to remove those participating in the behavior rather than engage with them or argue, as that can just cause the issue to grow.

my own notes on what the mod said: as much as i want the team or erik to make a statement, i understand why they are choosing not to. this has the characteristics of becoming bright and fred 2.0 and if we as a fandom continue to engage with this issue and let it grow, we could cause such a ruckus that caelum will have to go too. do not target the people who engage in this content, just block and move on. please don't publicly shame them, don't send them death threats, don't tell them to do awful things, just block. move on. we should continue to promote appropriate content for our fanbase and just let this conversation fizzle out.

I don't fully agree with sexualising Caelum either but some of the people commenting on your post about it are downright rude

People can interpret Caelum however they want you can't just tell people not to and think they will

Feel quite bad for the author to have their fic bashed all because people don't agree with them, if you don't like it just don't read it

I hope the author writes more fics about caelum just to piss off the fandom tbh

alright so, let's dissect this.

i cannot control how people choose to react to my post, and (i believe, i might be wrong) nowhere in my post do i cite a fic or tag anyone specifically. it's not my fault if people choose to comment their opinions in a way that is unfit for you.

people CAN interpret caelum and any character however they want, sure! that's the beauty of an audio-based story. there's so much to be interpreted! but you also cannot dismiss the facts that caelum is repeatedly compared to a child by gavin. that, my friend, is NOT up for interpretation.

i wish no ill will to the author. the fic (what i read of it) is really well written and they have a lot of potential to write other great stuff. but i will not in any way condone sexualizing caelum because he (as mac said) is comparable to a child's imaginary friend and (as erik confirms in his audios) is supposed to be innocent and childlike.

it's a hot take, i guess? but always keep in mind, those takes can come with backlash! not everyone is going to be okay with it and if you are going to write something controversial, you'll have to be prepared for people to disagree.

with that being said, don't bully people or be outright mean to them! just respectfully give your opinion and go

i forget who but someone had a theory about the dreamwalker that trapped avior was Elliot instead of Blake (reason being, Sunshine is being held hostage by Blake & CloseKnit, so Elliot joins Close Knit as an attempt to try to get back to Sunshine) and I feel like that meshes well with your idea of Avior and Starlight being in the future .,.

hmmm now this is interesting!

my only thing i'd say is that it seemed like- if i'm remembering it correctly- the dreamwalker that came at elliott seemed to have an obvious distaste for d(a)emons and that's why he attacked avior.... we haven't seen any signs of that from elliott, but if he is trying to fit the part as a closeknit member... that might make sense

bright relating to and growing close with darlin and telling them more than they tell sam, much to sam's dismay

bonus points if darlin gives sam parenting advice

sam and vincent going on late night drives after clan meetings to get away from the stress of life, trusting lovely and darlin enough to leave them with the kids

family dinners <3 everyone has to make a dish to go on the table (darlin asks david for advice on what to make)

If we're talking about the same fic...then yes, I have noticed a bit copying in this fandom (on ao3 in particular)

They could have at least TRIED to make it sound less similar than the one they took it from

Don't be lazy and crappy by stealing others' ideas, you're allowed to take inspiration but don't directly copy

i am a full believer in the idea that "no idea is truly original" anymore and can completely accept that fics and stories can resemble each other

my grievances come when the details are unmistakably similar to the point that the fic is just a rewrite of mine

the fact that another author has reached out to me experiencing the same issues just proves how there is a lack of ao3 etiquette here
