copied and pasted from jay and i's messages because i have nothing else:

angel and davids respective wedding parties being made up of pack and mates (angel with babe, sweetheart, and sam and david with ash, milo, and darlin) and on the night of the wedding parties quinn leaves david a gift to come home to

"tick tock" written on the wall in blood and all of the mates are gone

the pack learning that not all the mates are with quinn, but rather hidden away from the pack in a dense forest area of dahlias woods where the pack cant shift and still navigate through the trees (bonus if it's in dire weather conditions like snow or thunderstorms). babe and sweetheart both being fed off of and tranced, maybe forcing sweetheart to cloak from some added pressure to find them and deplete their magic, and poor sammy being beat so badly from trying to protect the unempowered mates he can barely keep his eyes open (much less call for help)

and each mate is in a different direction which makes the pack feel pressured to split up to find their respective mate

can you imagine angel being fully conscious but tranced into submission and watching everything play out, them internally screaming as they watch quinn set up his little game and being unable to do anything

the pack finding their respective mates and asher finally finding babe hidden in thick brush, blood staining the collar of their shirt, cuts and scrapes from branches and thorns on their face, fingers turning pale from the cold. asher wrapping his coat around them and even if they wake up they still can't move

milo having to rely on every sense he can to try and find a cloaked tranced sweetheart

i just think :) it would be fun :)

one thing that completely shocks me is that no one has ever really talked about how there were signs leading up to the inversion? it wasn’t outright, but once it happened, the clues to it made so much more sense?

sweetheart divulges to milo in their first meeting that there’s a rogue shade in dahlia. a shade that appears at a “sporting event held by the academy” as milo generally describes, one that the shaw pack was working security for. it takes a little from a lot to get stronger, but ultimately the whole situation seems pretty cut and dry

except i don’t think it’s ever explained how said shade appeared in dahlia and why it behaved so differently than what shades normally do. all we really know is that it was supposed to be a ravenous creature that clawed its way out of death to feed on mortal life forces

and you know who else has friends in death? closeknit

blake tells sunshine offhandedly that they are not the only one with contacts to the realm of the dead, implying that closeknit has some card up their sleeve that we never have really gotten another insight to. it’s been pretty heavily theorized that closeknit caused the inversion (hence their ads about the department post-tragedy) but i have not seen any conversation about how that first shade sweetheart and milo hunted was likely a test run for closeknit to see how easily they could get shades into the arena
