‣ the person with the xenoblade 3 themed profile choosing to do a xenoblade 3 themed crossover? whaaaat?

‣ if you know nothing about xenoblade (which i assume is most people) this probably won’t make a ton of sense, but i nonetheless am going to explain my thoughts

‣ machina!nene is probably pretty obvious bc of the robonene connection. since she already has purple eyes i pulled colors from mwamba, and combined the metal plating + light details from him and lanz. had to do the silver/white hair

‣ i will admit high entia!toya was done partly just so i could make his headwings two different colors to match his hair. he did have a kinda bird-themed set tho, so i think it fits. plus the fancy rich classical musician just feels very high entia. tho being a half-blood high entia actually doesn’t feel fitting of toya’s father but by 3 you’re lucky to be a high entia with medium headwings and they were already a nightmare to figure out rendering at this size

‣ gormotti!airi was again kinda obvious. she’d want to be a cat girl. and i based her ears more on nia + her family so the trans metaphor theme continues. gormotti designs are actually wildly varied with how “animalistic” they are, and then you throw nia in, and without getting into spoilers, her ears are more back-facing than other gormotti so it’s just all over the place

‣ tantalese!honami was kinda just a vibes/for variety’s sake thing. i can’t recall rn if there are any distinctly tantalese (or urayan for that matter) characters in 3, but logistically there should be, so i decided it’s more fun this way.

‣ i happened to have a online music group (ie, nightcord-esq) swap unit with these four and 3/4 of them were featured in this card set (which as stand alone art is one of my favs) so i decided on these four! i could (and might) do more/all characters at some point (it would have to wait till my winter break, i’m so swamped with school rn 😓😓) since i already have plans for everyone (except VSs). i wanted each of the the units to have an even kevesi/agnian split, and it ended up working out that the first two and latter two characters in each pjsk group worked as an kevesi + agnian pair, so they could all be ouroboros pairs, too! (i wonder, would that make the VSs moebius?)

‣ i wanted to pick/adjust the colors manually, so having the transparents to clipping mask onto was a big time saver!

‣ ena i found really easy. i wanted to go from pink-tinted-brown to green-tinted-grey, but the bright light green just looked so cute i decided to be less exact with the “opposite” colors. she mostly wears pinks and various shades of brown, so i went with greens and cool-toned greys.

‣ i was having a having a way harder time with akito and had to let it sit for a few days. my first attempt is below. i tried to go for a similar blue to kaito for the hair + a purple jacket to be opposite the yellow hoodie. i wasn’t quite happy with it, but i figured it was just the difference feeling “cursed.”

‣ i happened to decide to rewatch saiki k, when i realised kaido had the color scheme i was going for (blue hair + red eyes) and i decided to give akito another shot. i went for the light blue hair and i kept the black top over colored garment to match the black jacket over yellow hoodie. and just kinda vibed the rest of the fit.

‣ their backgrounds were already opposite color schemes (pink + green and orange + blue) so i just slapped gradient maps over them with each others’ colors

‣ and of course i had to add lil headcanons!! ena with the black nails and akito with an eyebrow piercing! i usually give akito silver jewelry, so i went for gold metal here

xbc3 off-seer toya sketch

ramblings under cut

!!spoiler warning for all three of the numbered xenoblade games!! mostly the first two actually. i imagine if any reads this, it will be a curious pjsk fan who doesn’t really care about xenoblade, but proceed at your own risk.

i have ideas for all of the pjsk characters i just don’t have the patience to draw them all out.

i wanted all the natural pairs set up by the game to be one agnian/one kevesi so they could be ouroboros. they’re also probably all off-seers or wannabe off-seers because that’s really the only music in aionios.

i’ll at least talk about vbs here.

toya is the off-seer for a kevesi colony. he has a pretty high percentage of high entia blood, so he still has pretty big headwings (compared to others in 3, not pure blood high entia) but they match his hair color. for some reason his dad feels like the type who would have been a high entia blood purist, but toya made it to aionios somehow so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

akito is agnian and would become toya’s ouroboros partner. he’s also an off-seer, but like mio he probably got drafted into the role due to his prowess when he really just wanted to be a great fighter and make it to his homecoming. he’s gormotti and has the cat ears. also face stripes. they might just be a nia thing but i think they’re fun. i imagine you don’t see his core crystal much like taion, but he could have a flesh eater’s core crystal.

if i’m remembering correctly, agnian colonies commonly have two off-seers, so an would be in the same colony as akito. i feel like she definitely has to have the fire hair like sena and brighid. like she’s already got the gradient, it’s perfect. i don’t imagine her having a peculiarly shaped core crystal, but she could have ether lines like sena as well. she probably is more naturally in tune with off-seeing than akito, but he has the edge in combat. they probably has a similar relationship to canon where they poke fun at each other and argue, but they take care of each other when things get rough.

for kohane i think she comes from a different kevesi colony than toya. her colony’s off-seer just died unexpectedly, so kohane took up the mantle as the new off-seer for the colony. maybe toya’s colony is nearby so he helped train her like crys with noah. i know there’s like a kevesi off-seer school/training program but i don’t care. kohane is just a basic homs like noah. an is her ouroboros partner, too

as far as combat stuff, i think kohane is an attacker, an would be an attacker, but in more of a debuff-y way, akito a dodge tank (i picture him similarly to mio), and toya could be a healer.

i think the flutes are customized to the off-seer in game? so everyone gets a custom one + a charm. toya’s charm is a wing but i might change it later. akito’s is a lightning bolt. an’s is a star. not sure about kohane yet either but maybe she’ll just have a ring similar to noah since she’s new to off-seeing.

also thinking toya maybe caught the eye of a consul while in off-seer and was taught violin. i’m not sure if off-seer flutes are made specifically somehow that allows the special motes to rise, but i say toya’s violin is customized and it can raise motes.

maybe the way toya’s dad is worked in is that he’s the consul (tho not literally toya’s bio dad then) that teaches toya violin, and then toya has a whole arc about coming to terms with the fact consuls are bad because he was close to one.

he’s temporarily at kohane’s colony teaching her when the whole ouroboros thing happens.

toya’s instrument could be worked into his blade like glimmer, but i kinda like the idea that it’s an actual instrument not made for battle in anyway. and it means he gets to stand over a battlefield and play a haunting violin melody.

i have fallen in love with the otherworldly sound and the sci-fi/post-future visuals of the MV. also miku and kaito just sound beautiful. i do appreciate very realistic vsyth tuning, but i also really like when composers lean in to the inherent electronic sound to produce something that feels incomplete when sung by humans. however i would say the MV calls for a minor body horror warning and an eye contact warning!

shinedown is a solidly “dad rock” band, but because of my dad it’s very special to me. also i am a huge sucker for any song that’s message is “we’re all human. we’re all a little weird, but we’re all still people.“ even if it’s a little cringe i still always love it. i think everyone feels at some point like they’re somehow different than everyone else, an alien, an outsider, broken somehow. so i love any song that says “that’s OK. we have differences. but we are all still humans, and we all deserve to find happiness and peace of mind because of that.”

this song is like whatever the reverse of personification is for a silly little guy. it’s a little dumb and dorky but the stupidly upbeat protagonist never fails to make me smile because it’s so hilariously optimistic. i know a lot of set it off fans (at least the ones i know irl) prefer their heavier albums (and i’m really happy with the singles they’ve been putting out since they got away from that label) but upside down always feels to me like the band themself wanted to experiment more with making lighter music, rather than them being pushed that direction by the label (which i feel happened somewhat with elsewhere)

adskahdsjalhskadhsksl this was way harder than it should have been so it took me a while to get to it…

1.) i suppose to start, i have always been happy with my body. i don’t experience much of anything in the way of dysphoria (aside from the constant hairstyle debate) and i have enough natural athleticism that i can move my body weight if need be (i.e. pulling myself up onto/over something) which for whatever reason is something i’ve always been proud of. my ability to scale a mid-sized wall.

2.) i also like, or at least appreciate that i absorb and retain information quite well. while my actual work ethic may not be great, i am able to do pretty well in academics just from info sticking with me pretty well. i think i learn stuff well in general.

3.) i have been pretty happy with my art lately, or at least i’ve felt a lot more like it’s worthy of been posted and seen by others. i have so many ideas, and i want to draw more often.

4.) i guess i like that i can take charge and overcome my shyness/social anxiety when someone else doesn’t want to. i guess the older sibling instinct outweighs the people are scary instinct. pretty sure the people in my group for the freshman seminar presentation loved me because i would—for whatever reason—just run my mouth until whoever came to see our project left.

5.) i guess it’s not really about me, but i’m really glad that i’ve been able to have so many great people around me. sure, my little brother is going thru his teenage asshole years, but we have each other’s backs when we’re out. not to mention all my close friends have been such wonderfully kind, talented, and inspiring people and we’ve stuck together with minimal drama for a while. for that i’m certainly grateful.

Wasn't sure whether to send this here or in the daily Akito acc, but I wanted to ask if you've read The Gay Akito Thesis™ (by burningdaybreak)? Although the main point of the essay is their homosexual Akito headcanon, they analyze Akito pretty in-depth and I think it's a very good read if you like Akito. I quite recommend it

i have thought about this before so i’m going to add my two cents. (this is long, sorry, i am incapable of brevity)

i think like in the game, the other three should be somewhat established as adventurers and kohane isn’t yet. akito and toya could already be partners and an is still looking for a partner of her own. all of them want to be great adventurers and help people. (maybe ken and the rest of rad weekend could be a legendary adventuring party that killed a dragon or something, and they’re like “retired” now)

at one point kohane’s home village is being attacked by some kind of monster, and an and the bad dogs (separately) are trying to defeat it and save the village. kohane happens to be on the outskirts of town one day (maybe collecting something like mushrooms, berries, or flowers) and that monster stumbles across her. luckily an has been right on its tail this whole time, so she’s there to save kohane! but during the ensuing battle with the monster, it turns out kohane has some talent for adventuring. maybe she instinctively casts a bit of magic or is just able to join an in singing and that somehow that powers up her bard magic.

so an then is so impressed with kohane she asks if kohane will become her adventuring partner. kohane’s living situation is probably less than ideal considering she was desperate enough to be out in the woods alone when there’s a monster known to be lurking around terrorising people, so maybe that’s why she agrees to join up with an. maybe that latent magic in her brings up questions she can’t ignore. maybe she secretly always dreamed of being an adventurer too, she just never thought it was realistic. whatever reason, kohane joins up with an and they do go do adventuring things trying to turn a profit by helping people.

i imagine since they’re just partnerships and still kinda younger, both an and akito and toya stick around a general area (all of the little villages and towns around one major city). so an knows about the fact the bad dogs have a similar goal to her. after teaming up with kohane, maybe another monster is reported in whatever tavern or place these things are posted in, and both pairs are there together and hear about it at the same time. an thinks it’ll be a good first adventure for kohane, but akito thinks kohane isn’t cut out for adventuring because she has no training or experience. so he says he and toya are gonna find the monster and beat it first.

mita is there (because i love vbs npcs and i say so) and also overhears this. and he decides to back up akito’s words by sabotaging their monster hunting. he follows an and kohane so he can buff up the monster or summon more when they encounter it, hoping kohane will run away scared and will prove she’s not cut out for adventuring.

an and kohane do succeed in finding the monster before the guys, and kohane has learned a simple spell and got outfitted with a weapon for defense. it’s going well, but then mita does his sabotage thing and accidentally calls way more monsters or in some way causes a much bigger threat than any of these guys really think they can handle. so he scrams.

when fleeing, mita bumps into akito and toya, who were also hot on the monster’s trail, and he tells them how he fucked up and there’s way too many monsters. akito is pissed that mita did something so reckless and frankly stupid, but he lets him go and runs to help. even if akito thinks kohane’s not cut out for this, he’s not going to just let them get killed.

akito and toya show up to find the drastically escalated situation. kohane maybe got too scared and overwhelmed to cast magic anymore, but an is still managing to hold the monsters off. the guys help out and they’re able to take out the threat together.

an maybe realised that someone had summoned more monsters, and how dangerous it was. akito doubles down like he does in game that kohane was not cut out for adventuring. going on some rant about how true adventurers don’t back down from anything. an accuses him of summoning the monsters, and akito takes the blame and he and toya head off.

toya hears akito’s rant and thinks about how he ran away from his father’s intense training to be a knight or something. akitoya break up ensues. toya tells akito that adventuring is dumb and you’re needlessly and stupidly seeking out danger. akito probably more or less ran away from home to pursue adventuring, and it means the whole world to him to be an adventurer and help people like how he was saved by the legendary ken when he was younger. so he attacks toya and runs off on his own and shit.

an and kohane run into toya again, i guess maybe ken has bed and breakfast or tavern, and he tells them about breaking up his partnership with akito and how akito lied about summoning the monsters.

someone else in the place overhears akito’s name and tells them all how akito ran off alone to defeat a really powerful monster and all that. and toya does really care for akito and wants to go after him and save him. an and kohane come too because toya’s gonna need all the help he can get, and they do owe them for the other time. ken tells toya that he doesn’t think adventuring is about never backing down period, but rather about never giving up on a problem. and sometimes you have to try a different approach. sure toya doesn’t want to defend people as a knight, but he wants to protect people as an adventurer, just like akito.

idk ken is too old for adventuring or had some major injury in his final battle or something. so he can’t go with. but toya, kohane, and an go chase after akito. they catch up to him just at the last second as he’s about to get overwhelmed by the monster and help him out. they defeat the monster together. akitoya reunion moment, the boys apologize for things.

at this point either they just decide they work well together as an adventuring party and can overcome stuff together they couldn’t do alone. or if you wanted to include sekai maybe miku in some way delivers them a prophecy where they need to work together to prevent some grand destruction. either way they can now venture out into the adventuring world. the others help kohane learn stuff, but she’s probably just really naturally talented like in game so she managed to keep up.

if there are any other dnd and pjsk players out there, how would you make a more fantastical version of the vbs backstory if they were a party of bards? asking for uhhh uh uhh jay

1. “Parasite” ~ Set It Off — all of SIO’s recent singles have been killer. they are back and better than ever ❤️‍🔥

2. “Beyond the way” ~ Vivid BAD SQUAD / Giga + q*Left — shoutout to giga for being the #1 vbs fan. this is probably my favourite comm in the game. look at my kids go! look how far they’ve come! also hatsune miku is there!

3. “The Wolves” ~ JJ and The Pillars — just a very fun song. i associate it with last life smp. some people never left the desert. i never left that shitty snow soul sand castle 😔

4. “Secret Worlds” ~ The Amazing Devil — my favorite song off this album, but honestly you could tell me any song off this album was your favorite and you would be completely valid. it’s that good. really fun to sing, so full of expression!

5. “Creating Monsters” ~ Set It Off — once again a recent SIO single that absolutely kills it. also a relatable message. i too make monsters with my head and it’s annoying as shit when you know rationally that you’re overreacting, but your body still is sure fucking reacting.

6. “Talking to Myself” ~ Linkin Park — i am my father’s daughter, what can i say? very danceable. i love this album.

7. “Demons and Angels” ~ LOWBORN — i can make this song about cloud strife. in other news, it’s just got a really fun driving beat. really gets you pumped up. (why do i sound like a gymbro?)

8. “炉心融解” / “nuclear meltdown” ~ iroha(sasaki) + kuma(alfred) — i tend to prefer the shortened cut used in pjsk, but i like the song so much that i listen to the full version too. i love the lyrics, even if they are dark. and the akikoha cover is just doing it favors.

9. “シャンティ” / “SHANTI” ~ Vivid BAD SQUAD / wotaku — THE BOP OF ALL TIME!! i love love love love looooooove this cover i waited for the day it would come to spotify. why do vbs keep getting the drinking / drugs / guns songs? i don’t know. but i’m not mad bc this cover goes so hard. i found a fan choreo video on youtube one time too and i’m insane about that too. whoever plays kaito in that is like inhuman /pos. it’s amazing.

10. “What Hurts The Most” ~ Rascal Flatts — OK so i lied we’ve gone in a third direction. technically rascal flatts is country, but a lot of times it just kinda feels like rock so it gets on to my playlists. case in point: what genre is life is a highway? idk i really really like this song. i don’t think the lyrics are anything special, but they do kinda hit a specific theme that always gets me, and it’s just got some something that i vibe with
