There was a moment in the past month where it suddenly got really obnoxiously trendy to try to find some new word or idea to describe this shit we're going thru with musk. Calling it new techno feudalism or some shit... And I didn't want to get into it because it's a headache but the thing that kept nagging me about it all was that no one mentioned the Technocracy Movement. Those fucking losers from the 1930s who never quite got their shit together.
"Technocracy" as a concept was some straight up Andrew Ryan, Rapture from BioShock bullshit where a bunch of sci-fi nerds thought it would only make sense for experts in various fields to be the ones controlling government in those fields. And they kinda weren't totally full of shit but they were all notably not experts of anything.

So that turned into The Technocracy Movement which was frustratingly vague sounding and easily mistaken for the concept broadly rather than the specific group of people it actually applied to. They were a bunch of wannabe politicians and industrial robber barons who basically looked at Marx's notion of "seizing the means of production" and decided that if they could monopolize access to the expensive equipment around said means that they could effectively hold a nation's/the world's economy ransom in exchange for political power. Basically they parroted the idea that "the government shouldn't dictate what science and technology can or can't do!" which, on its face is broadly agreeable.... but when they said it what they meant was "the government shouldn't dictate... (the businesses owners should)"
They also nominally wanted to recruit those supposed STEM field experts that the base ideology said should be the ones governing but they never really did, either because they were bad at it or because they were never really trying, who can say?
Anyway these idiots never amounted to shit beyond trying and failing to seize small local political offices in the space between the great depression and WWII, but go figure when the Nazi party took over Germany and did literally everything the Technocracy Movement had theorized to the German national economy, they all very quickly fell in line with their local Nazi movements and were subsequently run off the North American continent. Literally they were so thoroughly rebuffed and challenged, and in Canada actually outlawed as a direct result of being identified as Nazi sympathizers that all their major members just packed up and moved overseas. (Incidentally this is how Elon Musk's mother wound up in South Africa; her father was a member of the Canadian Technocracy Movement and its attempted political party.)
Anyway then they were mostly forgotten except for some videogames and shit that used their flag in various goofy ass althistory settings. Ironically they ALSO appropriated an already well known eastern religious icon, but unlike the Nazi swastika no one remembers the Technocracy Movements lame ass yinyang knockoff
But you know what all this AI horseshit and crypto scam garbage, and the meta verse, has in common? It's the digital version of the Technocracy Movement's ploy to seize control by owning all the tools while both not having to do any of the work and not have to be landed gentry born into an existing landowner monopoly. They just replaced trying to buy all the factory equipment with trying to buy all the fucking graphics cards.
And there's a reason that's where that line is drawn too. Because that legacy of exploitative land owners isn't just a bunch of cliches or left over rhetoric from some bygone era. The biggest economic-political split between the North and South in the US has always been that in the south land was plentiful and cheap and controlling that land meant controlling anything and everything grown or produced or manufactured or living on it. (Except for when you can't which is why these idiots walked us right into the rust belt). And the North by comparison had wallstreet and the emphasis on industry and trade. (that's obviously an oversimplification, but it's about as brief as i can be about it) And the landowners always stuck their nose up at the traders over this because in their simple old fashioned minds nothing abstract could hold more value that something tangible.
Anyway so those idiots damn near shit themselves during the dot com boom and subsequently it's why right-wing techbro idiots are so fixated on this idea of turning the tech industry into this simulated real estate scam. Because there was a whole industry exploding into profitability that they didn't have so much as a foot in the door with, because if it didn't boil down to fleecing someone in a land deal they didn't have a way to control it. But now, a quarter century after the fact those losers are catching up, and they're doing it by trying to flatten the future of the IT industry into the same tired old game they already know how to play.
And now we are where we are with a bunch of goons trying to hold the moving parts of the economy and political machine still and demand we pay them to let go, all while claiming an expertise they do not and never did possess to hide behind. The thing people keep referring to as Techno Feudalism, is just the same pseudo-feudalism that regular actual land owners have been playing at since the civil fucking war. The fact that it includes tech investors now does not make it new or different. It's the same stupid fucking Technocracy Movement bullshit they tried to pull nearly 100 years ago, and you NEED to be able to recognize that it retains every fucking flaw the original had, namely being the complete and total lack of leadership skills and technical expertise.
i don't know who im going on this rant to... it's not really important to anyone. it doesn't change the nature or direction of the discussion at large, it just kind of annoys me that so many people have danced around the subject or struggled to reverse engineer some kind of logic behind the current bullshit musk has been doing as if there isn't a perfectly readily available answer just sitting there. These idiots weren't even able to come up with a new scam, they're trying to turn the whole country into a giant fucking company town That's the kind of economic isolationism they're talking about, there is no economic strength or self sufficiency in it, just the kind of monopolization of people's mundane lives that obliterates any incentive for quality control. And just like the last time people implemented these exact policies and tactics, we are going to get a coast to coast rust belt on the other side of things. We've been here before. It's all the same shit.
#oh i see this is getting notes all of a sudden#i think i saw a video thumbnail mentioning the technocracy movement#and the whole Technate of America bullshit#because yeah i didnt even think to mention this at the time#but the Technocracy Movement also wanted to have the USA#absorb Canada Mexico and Greenland#and call it ''The North American Technate''#as with everything they did#and everything musk and trump are doing#it was fucking stupid then and it's stupid now

"Major shake-ups are occurring across the global stage. History is replete with examples of breaks with the past from major political, economic, technological, and social upheaval.
Throughout the ages, many self-serving individuals and groups have positioned themselves as rulers, financiers, benefactors, and thought leaders to steer change toward preferred outcomes. From the Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt to the Jacobin and Napoleon-led French Revolution in the late 18th century, societal transformation has been constant as one form of government replaces another.
We have now arrived at yet another historical inflection point. The desire for political and economic reconstruction is being demanded globally as the gap between the ultra-wealthy and everyone else continues to accelerate.
In recent years, populism has taken flight by inspiring the masses to reject the rule of “the elite” and chart a new course. However, without scrutiny, this movement and its key figures could be just as dangerous as the establishment they are attempting to usurp. In fact, what we are witnessing is not populism in its truest sense but techno-populism or technocracy, as it has been called since its inception in 1920."

Although I appreciate the additional information to this post, that unfortunately wasn't Haldeman in the photo above, that was Howard Scott, Technocracy Inc.'s founder.
Although I do think that Haldeman's interest in Technocracy eventually had an impact on Musk, Haldeman ultimately did break with the technocrats, who were enamored of taking over all of North America (including Greenland) and some of central America to form the "Technate of America."
According to Geoff Leo, writing for CBC News:
In an April 1945 article in the Canadian Social Crediter, Haldeman warned that Technocracy had become “a scientific Frankenstein.” He wrote that since his departure, the organization had begun pushing for the U.S. to take over Canada and Greenland “either by purchase, negotiation or by force of arms” – a position advocated by Howard Scott, who argued for isolationism and a strong continental defence. Haldeman warned that Quebec and what is now Mexico were being targeted in particular. He quoted Scott as arguing “that these alien cultures on the continent of North America be annihilated. Assimilation is out of the question.” Haldeman warned “Technocracy Inc. is conspiring against the British Empire — against the sovereignty of Canada.”
So Haldeman was both enchanted with Technocracy at one point, and later against it.
Still, it seems that some of Haldeman's beliefs about the value of technocrats becoming the ruling class have been taken up by Musk. As such, understanding these beliefs is important to understanding what Musk and other wealthy tech oligarchs might like to see happen in the US and the world.
[edited]
Technocrats argued that liberal democracy had failed. One Technocracy Incorporated pamphlet explained how the movement “does not subscribe to the basic tenet of the democratic ideal, namely that all men are created free and equal.” In the modern world, only scientists and engineers have the intelligence and education to understand the industrial operations that lie at the heart of the economy. Mr. Scott’s army of technocrats would eliminate most government services: “Even our postal system, our highways, our Coast Guard could be made much more efficient.” Overlapping agencies could be shuttered, and “90 percent of the courts could be abolished.” [color emphasis added] —Jill Lepore , PhD, Harvard Professor of American History & Professor of Law
The historian Jill Lepore demonstrates how there are disturbing parallels between Elon Musk's recent political beliefs and that of his technocrat grandfather Joshua Haldeman.
According to another article by Davi Ottenheimer, Haldeman "fled" Canada to South Africa in 1950:
"Because he was under pressure following his 1940 arrest in Canada for being a part of an illegal political organization to destroy democracy called Technocracy. "Canada outlawed the political party as it had been determined to be a national security risk (anti-semitic, racist, and Nazi-adjacent)."
This is a gift🎁link, so there is no pay wall. It is worth reading, because it explains where many of Musk's peculiar beliefs about the importance of technocrats like himself taking over political systems. It also explains his weird fascination with "X."
Below the cut are some excerpts from the article.
Four years ago, I made a series for the BBC in which I located the origins of Mr. Musk’s strange sense of destiny in science fiction, some of it a century old. This year, revising the series, I was again struck by how little of what Mr. Musk proposes is new and by how many of his ideas about politics, governance and economics resemble those championed by his grandfather Joshua Haldeman, a cowboy, chiropractor, conspiracy theorist and amateur aviator known as the Flying Haldeman. Mr. Musk’s grandfather was also a flamboyant leader of the political movement known as technocracy. Leading technocrats proposed replacing democratically elected officials and civil servants — indeed, all of government — with an army of scientists and engineers under what they called a technate. Some also wanted to annex Canada and Mexico. At technocracy’s height, one branch of the movement had more than a quarter of a million members. Under the technate, humans would no longer have names; they would have numbers. One technocrat went by 1x1809x56. (Mr. Musk has a son named X Æ A-12.) Mr. Haldeman, who had lost his Saskatchewan farm during the Depression, became the movement’s leader in Canada. He was technocrat No. 10450-1. [...]
Mr. Scott’s army of technocrats would eliminate most government services: “Even our postal system, our highways, our Coast Guard could be made much more efficient.” Overlapping agencies could be shuttered, and “90 percent of the courts could be abolished.” [...] Nevertheless, technocracy endured. Its spectacles grew alarming: Technocrats wore identical gray suits and drove identical gray cars in parades that evoked for concerned observers nothing so much as Italian Fascists. Mr. Musk’s grandfather was a technocracy stalwart. In 1940, when Canada banned Technocracy Incorporated — out of fear that its members were plotting to undermine the government or the war effort — Mr. Haldeman took out an ad in a newspaper, proclaiming technocracy a “national patriotic movement.”
Weeks later, when he tried to enter the United States for a technocracy speaking tour, he was denied entry at the border, possibly because of a new passport regulation that barred travel into the United States to “an alien whose entry would be contrary to the public safety” (something of an irony, given the current administration’s border policies). In Vancouver, British Columbia, he was arrested, convicted and sentenced to a fine or two months in jail. He later joined the antisemitic Social Credit Party, becoming its national chairman.
Mr. Haldeman retired from politics in 1949 and soon began thinking about moving to South Africa, which in 1948 announced the policy of apartheid. In 1950 he moved to Pretoria, where he wrote and distributed typewritten conspiratorial tracts. (Most have disappeared, but in 2023 I discovered several in university and private collections.) In May 1960, for instance, he wrote a pamphlet called “The International Conspiracy to Establish a World Dictatorship and Its Menace to South Africa,” a response to the unrest after the Sharpeville massacre. During those protests, Nelson Mandela was among 11,000 people arrested and jailed. Mr. Haldeman suggested the uprising had been staged.
He furthermore believed the West had been the subject of an “intensive mass mind conditioning” experiment, in which ideas he considered ludicrous, like the equality of races and the immorality of apartheid, were being spread by newspapers, magazines, radio, television and especially university professors. Convinced that the government was riddled with waste, he also proposed a finance committee to combat inefficiency, writing in all caps, “A watchdog financial agency is needed.”
That Mr. Musk has come to hold so many of the same beliefs about social engineering and economic planning as his grandfather is a testament to his profound lack of political imagination, to the tenacity of technocracy and to the hubris of Silicon Valley. [...] In 1995, after studying at the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Musk left a Ph.D. program at Stanford to become a tech entrepreneur. He started a company called X.com in 1999. “What we’re going to do is transform the traditional banking industry,” he said. (Technocrats also planned to abolish banks. “We don’t need banks, bandits or bastards,” Joshua Haldeman once wrote.) Mr. Musk made a fortune when eBay acquired PayPal, which had merged with X.com, but in 2017 he bought back the URL, and it was at hand when he purchased Twitter and renamed it X, hoping to kill what he called the “woke mind virus” — echoes of his grandfather’s “mass mind conditioning.” Much that Mr. Musk has attempted to do at DOGE can be found in the technocracy manuals of the early 1930s.
Mr. Musk’s possible departure from Washington will not diminish the influence of Muskism in the United States. His superannuated futurism is Silicon Valley’s reigning ideology. In 2023 the venture capitalist Marc Andreessen, who helped staff DOGE, wrote “The Techno-Optimist Manifesto," predicting the emergence of “technological supermen.” It consists of a list of statements:
We can advance to a far superior way of living and of being. We have the tools, the systems, the ideas. We have the will. … We believe this is why our descendants will live in the stars. … We believe in greatness. … We believe in ambition, aggression, persistence, relentlessness — strength.
Mr. Andreessen cited, among his inspirations, Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, who in 1909 wrote “The Futurist Manifesto,” which glorified violence and masculine virility and opposed liberalism and democracy. It, too, is a list of statements:
We want to sing the love of danger, the habit of energy and rashness. We want to exalt movements of aggression, feverish sleeplessness, the double march, the perilous leap, the slap and the blow with the fist. … We want to sing the man at the wheel. … We want to demolish museums and libraries, fight morality, feminism. … Standing on the world’s summit, we launch once again our insolent challenge to the stars!
Ten years after Mr. Marinetti wrote “The Futurist Manifesto,” fists raised to the stars, he co-wrote the founding document of the movement led by Mussolini: “The Fascist Manifesto.”
Muskism isn’t the beginning of the future. It’s the end of a story that started more than a century ago, in the conflict between capital and labor and between autocracy and democracy. The Gilded Age of robber barons and wage-labor strikes gave rise to the Bolshevik Revolution, Communism, the first Red Scare, World War I and Fascism. That battle of ideas produced the technocracy movement, and far more lastingly, it also produced the New Deal and modern American liberalism. Technocracy lost because technocracy is incompatible with freedom.
That is still true, but unlike his forefathers, Mr. Musk does have a theory for the assumption of power. That theory is to seize power with the dead robotic hand of the past. It remains for the living to wrest free of that grip.

*one otherwise normal day, a... thing... wonders into town. A bald, weathered man with a speaker or vent where their mouth would be and goggles that seem to be embedded into their skull, ridding atop a skeletal machine, with four long insectile legs and a musical table. the man is fixed into the vehicle via cables and wires. it's speech is bit-crushed and boosted artificially*
Greetings, Fine citizens!
You are soon to be integrated into the glorious Supreme Technate of Neo-Agartha, where you will never feel sick or hungry again and will never have to fear war or invasion!
Be warned, however: resistance will be punished severally, please go willingly!

Philip Low is founder and CEO of Neurovigil, and has been a MIT research affiliate, an adjunct professor at Stanford, an oncology researcher at Harvard, and earned his PhD in computational neuroscience at USDC. He is also personally familiar with Elon Musk. These are his words, not mine. I'm going to share the thesis he published yesterday. It echoes the same themes I've been warning of, but paints a more precise picture of a defined plan. It's a heady read, so buckle up:
MY THESIS
1. The Panama Canal was just an excuse to invade Panama;
2. The tariffs were just a way to soften up Canada and Mexico before invading them both;
3. National Security was just an excuse to invade Greenland;
4. The Alien Enemies Act was just an excuse to detain Canadians and British citizens, including the tourists held in custody without due process, and have leverage over Canada and the UK before attacking Canada;
5. Grok was programmed to reveal very little about chatter regarding the invasion of Canada despite there actually being significant chatter about it on X;
6. The censorship on Social Media was to keep the People from being outraged, thus limiting their influence on Congress and making the tyranny of the executive possible. There was also specific censorship for people living in Canada to keep them in the dark before the attack on Canada which is the same reason they want to remove Canada from Five Eyes;
7. The attacks on universities and the free press were just a way to scare the public into silence and submission before calling for Martial Law and instituting a draft, which is also why senior commanders and JAGS were removed, in case Trump used the Insurrection Act against ordinary citizens. Waiving the Epstein files, having a copy of everyone’s tax returns, reminding current and former officials he could remove their security by doing that with a number of them, were ways to intimidate the “ruling class” and keep them quiet and pliable (incidentally, Putin used such techniques to initially scare rivals and detractors);
8. The President is deeply compromised. Trump does not work for the American people. He works for Elon Musk. That was also evident from the Tesla infomercial he did at the White House;
9. The Vice President who he met through Peter Thiel was chosen by Elon and works for him too. He is the one who first scolded Zelenskyy and who snubbed the German chancellor to meet the AfD which Elon is supporting;
10. Putin spoke to Elon repeatedly and Elon gave him access to Starlink terminals over Ukraine against dirt (money laundering, Epstein, past or current affiliations with Russia, etc.) on / control over Trump. USAID had paid for these terminals and was investigating Starlink. DOGE was an excuse to kill USAID and a number of other agencies regulating Elon’s companies, including CFPB which was overseeing the Tesla loan program and was to regulate X’s payment system. Elon used Trump to burn classified USAID records;
11. Putin and Elon made a deal whereby Elon would use X and his money, with assistance of JD Vance, to push nationalists in Europe and fracture the EU, help Trump get elected and use their partnership with / influence on / control of Trump to get the US out of NATO, have it abandon Ukraine militarily, without even military guarantees, and leave it and the rest of Europe at the mercy of Russia. Elon would use Trump to end American democracy, abolish the Constitutional Republic and invade Panama and Greenland and at least every place in between, including Canada and Mexico (and again use X and his wealth to prop up any foreign leader in favor of annexation), thereby achieving his fascist’s grandfather fantasy of a version of the “Technate” and rule it as Dictator like Sulla, the Roman Dictator he admires. Trump would not endorse Vance and would support Elon’s political ambitions (by merging the US with Canada, which Elon is also a citizen of, a new constitution would remove the requirement for a US born head of state);
12. The purge of the intelligence agencies, the removal of officers investigating whether Trump was a Russian asset and whether there was election interference, the confiscation of their data, and the placement of some leaders sympathetic to Russia was, among other things, precisely to prevent the Public, Congress and the Armed Forces from finding any of this out until it would be too late.
Bottom line: Elon Musk is Donald Trump’s Russian handler, and he is working alongside JD Vance to destroy Europe, and with Trump to end democracy, abolish the Constitutional Republic, and invade at least all of Central and North America, collectively the “Technate” — sympathetic to Russia and her expanding even beyond the boundaries of the former Soviet Union to subsume Europe — which he intends to rule as Dictator.
Philip Low
PS. I am an award-winning computational neuroscientist and entrepreneur. I strategically design discrete physical tools and mathematical techniques to capture, unmask, leverage or create super stealth patterns in a wide spectrum of domains ranging from non-invasive brain scanning to cryptography. The technologies I have invented are worth billions of dollars, and I am their largest financial owner. I stand to benefit absolutely nothing financially from Elon’s peaceful removal from the White House. As an independent and foreign citizen, I stand to benefit nothing politically from any impeachment of Trump and Vance. I take no pleasure in writing a thesis on any Technocratic Coup. Elon became my older brother when I met him and I always regarded Elon as much closer than my own siblings. However, given how well I know him, and how dangerous he truly is, I feel, as a concerned world citizen, a sense of moral responsibility to speak out, for The People, for Freedom, despite multiple threats to my life.

In Technocracy Ascending Part 3, the dots were connected linking together technocracy, UN Agenda 2030, and the environmental movement. This installment investigates how technocracy is encroaching upon American government under Donald Trump.
“America has an ideology, superior to both communism and fascism; it is the militant ideology of a technological imperative —Technocracy.”Howard Scott, Technocracy Inc., The Technocrat, June 1951
Before the formation of Howard Scott’s Technocracy Inc. in 1933, its precursor, the Technical Alliance, sought to document the wastefulness of the capitalist system through its Energy Survey of North America.
Despite discovering that the continent was rich in natural resources and capable of producing an abundance of energy, Scott had no practical way to achieve his scientifically governed Technate. Instead, he awaited societal collapse due to a failing economic system, which of course never occurred to the degree he envisioned.
What differentiates today’s technocrats from their predecessors is their willingness to utilize the political process to achieve similar goals. Scott was so apolitical he refused to engage with government to create his Technate, which doomed Technocracy Inc. and other offshoots to historical oblivion. Its official demise came on July 1, 1947 during the Operation Columbia media debacle when its members cruised the roads in their trademark gray cars, forming a motorcade from California to Vancouver.

PHASES OF INVASION BY THE SUPREME TECHNATE OF NEW AGARTHA
PHASE ONE; INFILTRATION: spy androids covered with a layer of vat-grown skin are sent into communities to spread pro-technate propaganda, which invisible drones seed artificial blights in nearby farmland to starve the defenders.
PHASE TWO; AIR RAID: bombers and self-propelled guns will pound the defending city with chlorine and napalm, alongside dropping pamphlets made of sheets of living metal containing messages informing the population that all they have to do is surrender.
PHASE THREE; GROUND INVASION: Now that the defenders are hungry and exhausted, the real invading force enters. Androids march in inhuman unity with lasers, rail-rifles, tesla cannons, and gauss-gatlings, whilst mechs armed with atomic megarifles, blizzard cannons, and heat rays take out heavy vehicles.
PHASE FOUR; EXTERMINATION: if the population still refuses to surrender and the fight is difficult, siege mechs with cannons loaded with contagion spikes well enter the battlefield, these spikes release clouds of the Life-eater virus upon being impaled into the ground and is meant to act as lethal wall, preventing a meaning resistance from being formed and making leaving one's home unsafe.
PHASE FIVE; SANTATIZATION: if life-eater has been deployed, after the battles victory (it WILL end in victory, if life-eater is involved), special squad of cleanup androids are sent out to destroy any surviving pockets of the virus using flamethrowers, gamma-wave blasters, cryo-rifles, and foam-sprayers.
PHASE SEVEN; OCCUPATION: once the battle is won, technoforming devices are deployed which, when activated, shoot pipes into the ground to collect and assimilate matter, which is then converted into new living metal buildings or vehicles. In time, the entire community is converted and their will be no evidence it was ever separate.
Phase one is not completely but mostly repelled- a few diviners notice the inorganicity of the drones and a check system is quickly formulated. the artificial blights, on the other hand, are crushed. centuries of wizard battles in fields and farms alike have made the plants sturdy and absurdly resistant.
Phase two is where the action starts, along the Great Wizard Wall. the Barriershield extends up well into space, and is clearly visible with an almost eerie glow.it repels bombs, gases, and even air- the Wizards have seemingly sealed themselves off from the air.
Phase 3 is where the fun begins. hundreds of wizards of all shapes are given free range to test all their most unethical and messed up spells on the enemy. the fighting is strongest at the South Gate, where the wall has, predictably, a massive gate.
[scene set.]
*the fighting has gone on for 3 hours now- twenty seven times as long as it took the last country. every once in a while a particularly loud wizard voice calls above the other sounds of incantation; power words that have fractated(dont ask), throngled(dont ask), and spurpified(DONT ASK) the opposition.*
*however, the power of the initial counterattack has significantly abated- presumably some wizards needed rest to continue casting, and the next crew rotation isn't here yet.*
*if you're going to make a special attack, the best time would be about now- before the next shift starts.*
