Yellow Bells
Tumblr media
Yellow Bells blooming profusely in the Gardens by the Bay. Photo credit: Jonathan Chua.
This Fujifilm camera was one of my favourites for flora photography because of its colour reproduction and focal length range.
The capture was underexposed 1-1/3 stops to tone down the busy background. Cyan and greens were also de-saturated a bit in post.

Cape Honeysuckle is an Interesting Plant with Beautiful Flowers
Blushing Trumpet When I was out at Watermelon Pond, I found more than one pretty, trumpet shaped flower that was blooming even though it was late in the year. This one was growing along the fence at my friend Mary’s house. Instead of yellow, like the Carolina jessamine, that I wrote about in my last post, this one was a bright reddish orange. The color first drew me in to look at the flowers,…

Yellow Bells - April 2023 I had a lot of trouble finally identifying these bright yellow blooms. I was pretty sure that they were Yellow Bells (official name, Tecoma stans, aka Yellow Trumpet Flower or Yellow Elder), but everything I could find showed the plant as tall and spread out. Then I found an article “How to make your Yellow Bells look like a shrub.” It’s the same plant. Someone has just consistently kept it trimmed down into a shrub shape. The Yellow Bells are beautiful whether they are high in the air on a spindly branch or closer to the ground in a square shrub. MWM

In warmer climates, they may bloom all year long. In the United States, the shrub is typically 3-6 feet tall but can grow up to 10-25 feet tall and 10-20 feet wide. The plant is a member of the Bigoniaceae or Trumpet Creeper Family which are mostly tropical trees or shrubs. Other common names include Esperanza (Spanish for hope), Trumpet Flower, Yellow Bells, Yellow Elder, Yellow Trumpet Flower, and Yellow Bignonia. A fast and vigorous grower, Tecoma stans (Yellow Bells) is a showy semi-evergreen shrub or small tree with long droopy branches boasting brilliant clusters of bright yellow trumpet-shaped flowers. Blooming continuously from spring to frost (all year in warm weather climates), the slightly fragrant blossoms attract butterflies and hummingbirds. They contrast nicely against the foliage of odd-pinnate bright green leaves adorned with toothed leaflets. The flowers are followed by narrow bean-like seed pods, 8 in. long (20 cm), which dangle from the shrub-like Christmas ornaments and are conspicuous in the fall. Prized for its heat and drought tolerance, as well as its spectacular floral display, Tecoma stans has become a popular landscaping plant. It is most often used as a specimen or mixed into a shrub border. The nectar of the flowers attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. Small mammals feed on the seeds, and other mammals browse on the leaves. The Yellow Trumpetbush is frequently planted as a specimen or accent plant due to its prolonged blooming and brilliant floral display. It is also used in the landscape mixed in with other border shrubs, patios, or containers. The cultivar, 'Gold Star,' has golden yellow trumpet flowers and dark green glossy leaves. It is heat tolerant and pest resistant. Odd pinnately compound leaves with 5-13 leaflets Leaflets are medium to olive green, elliptic to lanceolate with serrated margins Showy bright yellow trumpet-shaped flowers with pale red veins inside the tube Green to grayish-brown elongated fruit capsules Tecoma stans, Yellow Bells, Yellowbells, Esperanza, Yellow Trumpetbush, Yellow Trumpetflower, Trumpetbush, Trumpetflower, Yellow Elder, Bignonia stans, Yellow Bignonia, Yellow Trumpetbush, Bignonia stans, Stenolobium stans, Tecoma stans var. angustatum http://springsofeden.myshopify.com/products/exotic-rare-tropical-tecoma-stans-yellow-bells-seeds-organic-b50

Mainland Destiny Islands pt.II
II~ Part 1 ~II
!Disclaimer! All thoughts presented are my own musings for entertainment and have no canon confirmation/base beyond being based on observations made from canon!
About electricity ☆☆☆
When Destiny Islands is presented in Kingdom Hearts you get the impression of the Islands being far less urban than what seems to be the case after a bit of further inspection. This is because of all scenes in game happening around the beach and the small island that the kids frequent to hang around at, which is mostly beach shacks and haphazard tree houses.
These areas seem to be the absolute fringes of Destiny Islands, the power being brought over through above ground powerlines similarly to many newly constructed or far off residential areas IRL.
Tumblr media
You can see overhead power lines along the hills of mainland destiny islands
Power might be worse/more diy closer to the beach but the infrastructure suggests a much more urban setting downtown
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The overhead power lines along the hills also suggest the possibility that this is only one side of the island and there might be more structures behind the hills and round the island that is just simply never shown (at the end of the power lines there could also be a power plant?).
RE: Local Flowers
In the previous post I had suggested the presence of three flower types (petunia, tecoma, hyssop), but it seems I missed one!
Scattered along the paths there seems to be one more flower, which is growing very scarcely and therefore quite unnoticeable. This flower resembles a foxglove, which can be found growing in Mediterranean and tropical settings, fitting to island life!

To be continued~!
