Here is a drawing I made for an art trade with @yourdragonwitchroyalty over on Instagram. They requested that I make a drawing based on a scene from chapter 7 of their Sanders Sides fanfic, “Teenage Heartthrob: The World Is Out To Get Me: Freshman Year.” Below I’m attaching photos of the scene this drawing is based on and the reference I used to draw Virgil’s wrist brace. The scene photo was sent to me by yourdragonwitchroyalty. I also used yourdragonwitchroyalty’s past drawings of this au for reference.

My beloved friend told me to watch Our Times and her pitch was "when it came out all the girls in my all female Chinese school cut their hair to have the same bob as the protagonist and they all got the same glasses to" so I was like ok I have no choice but to stan. It's so rude it's offensively good it should by rights be a terrible movie it has every trope in the book by it I spent the entire time screaming

I AM SOOOO GLAD YOU DECIDED TO WATCH IT (also LOL that's amazing and also incredible..... I was about to say "that's going a bit far" but then realised I based my own haircut off of Songhwa from Hospital Playlist and Clara Oswin-Oswald so I have no right to judge). Yessss it has sooo much potential to be cringe but alas it is earnest and lovely enough to pull off All them tropes!!!

The drawing is based on the song “Prom Dress” by mxmtoon, which can be found on the official playlist for the fanfic on Spotify. I changed the word “queen” to “king” in the lyrics to fit Roman better. Roman’s outfit and the pose are based on the second photo below, which was a reference sent to me by yourdragonwitchroyalty. The other reference I used when making this drawing was the drawing yourdragonwitchroyalty made for his last dtiys on Instagram. I had a dream last night in which I was watching a movie with not one but three Zac Efrons. Floppy-haired HSM baby Zac Efron, not the buff heartstopper specimen he is now, but still. Each was a different version of a teenage heartthrob: one the sporty himbo with a heart of gold, one the artsy nerd, and one the goth rebel. I got to watch them all in love with the little heroine and try and circle around her, but they ended up becoming friends with each other as they did. There was even a little epilogue where we see the heroine ended up with someone else entirely while the three Zaclings all grew up and are living their best lives. I kind of love it and want to write it, but I feel like it loses some of its charm if they are not baby Zac Efron clones, you know?
