day 2 of telemarina OCtober! this is cam dimaandal - she’s got elemental magic (specializing in lightning) and is the leader of a coven that champions fair & equitable pacts for its members. the DSA of the entente, to speak loosely. she is butch, romanceable, and the widow's ex, and gets lightning scarring on the side of her face by the end of the game.

OCtober day 1 - the widow! she is the prodigy of the necromancy coven (which as a coven & area of magic is contentious in the magical community). she is romanceable (another member of your party is her ex (also romanceable))! she is a goth femme lesbian, loves cats, and has a carefully guarded gentility to her.

she loves her field of study with all her heart, she’s making great advances and discoveries + her parents helped originate the current era of the field, but the danger of the magic (and her coven’s power structure) is causing her body to deteriorate & decay...

day 10 of telemarina OCtober! moss jacinto. they have plant powers & are faction-neutral - their goal is to combat the increasing numbers of void monstrosities appearing in the city from mysterious origins. they're very chill and wry, aside from their dedication to their fight. they are a main party member, non-binary, and not romanceable (they’re not an option for a lesbian MC genderwise + they are still grieving the loss of their husband, who was killed by the voids eight months ago. this is one source of their conviction for defending against the voids, aside from their general human compassion for protecting their community)

day 3 of telemarina #OCtober! vee bowen. she's got metalmancy powers & is the leader of her coven. she's a mechanic & runs her own shop. she is looking for peace in her life. she is romanceable, trans, and is one of those kind, warm people who's your first friend in a new situation. she’s probably got the chillest romance storyline - still very sweet and in-depth, but not a lot of super crazy shit happens. focuses on emotion and domesticity. she’s the oldest of the romanceable characters.

telemarina mentor couples! the first two are opposing faction leaders that the player can choose between allying with (or with neither - there are advantages & disadvantages to all paths), the second two are good friends of major characters and fill out the world. they are all gay people, in love, and very self-indulgent of me

1. jack & sian are the leaders and creators of the coalition of covens, intended to organize & keep the peace in the cities magical groups after a small civil war six years ago. the entente is well-intended but imperfect + skewed towards the victorious & powerful, but perhaps a structure is necessary to keep the peace when the hurts of the previous conflict are still bubbling under the surface, and to guard against the growing threat of void monstrosities... jack & sian have been together for eight years but have been working tirelessly to set up & maintain the entente, so only now are they getting around to actually getting married. you can attend their wedding! jack is the charismatic leader, sian is her more subtle assistant. they are iris’ bosses. they’re in their late 30s. sian wears that earring to magically disguise some magical scarring on the left side of her face and neck that she got during the war; she prefers to hide it as she prefers to hide most of her vulnerabilities from everyone but jack. at home, they have an old golden retriever named lucy.

2. devrim & jeremy are the leaders of the faction of people who want the coven dissolved and the power structure of covens in general rearranged. devrim leads an anti-establishment coalition of people who were hurt or ruined by how the entente reformed the city’s magical culture - security and rewards to the “victors”, with punishment and restrictions to the “losers.” good & bad and victor & loser are not 1:1. who came out whole. the entente, in attempts to keep things peaceful (as is demanded by the local government), tends to cater to covens with power - and not every powerful covens goes entirely by the rulebook. so devrim & jeremy seek to eliminate the power structure of covens altogether, arguing that the magical benefit of pacts is not worth the human cost. devrim is the action guy, jeremy is his support, mostly via computer (he used to be part of the burgeoning technomancy coven, but left as they started sliding into corruption). if you ally more closely with them, rosé will join their cause, as their ideals align fairly closely with her grievances. they are life partners - maybe they’ll get around to getting married someday, but it’s not necessary. they’re in their early 30s. in private moments, they call each other “dev” and “gem.”

3. andy & caleb are a married couple who are raising their daughter, daisy! they are part of the metalmancy coven headed by one of the main characters, vee, and are good friends with her. andy & caleb were Forbidden Lovers during the conflict - andy was trapped in a contract with a really shitty coven which nearly killed him before caleb saved his life (which cost him his arm, and andy their eye). andy is no longer in a coven due to that trauma but luckily caleb is doing perfectly alright! they are very sweet and a joy to talk to. caleb works in vee’s shop; andy is a freelance illustrator. daisy is six years old, and was orphaned by the war - andy & caleb adopted her when she was three. due to losing his left arm, caleb wears his wedding ring on his left ear.

4. leonard is the representative of the small amount of natural psychics in the city. these psychics can’t turn their Listening off, leading to a lot of problems trying to live their daily lives in a city with many ghosts and spirits and an increasingly close fey otherworld - chronic migraines, besides all the mental health problems. he’s the kindly mentor to cora, who is one of the main party characters who is also a listener. many listeners were murdered or left the city following the war - leonard fought hard in the following negotiations for some amount of reparations and welfare for any survivors and newborn listeners. he wears polarized sunglasses to reduce visual stimulation. he sculpts! michel is his husband who is not a magic potentate, and does his best to help his husband live in a home that does not have a lot of sensory input. he’s a sound engineer. every first saturday of the month, they take leonard’s pottery to the local artist’s market.

day 8 and 9 of telemarina OCtober!

the moth. a low-ranking court-ornament from the fey otherworld, designed to be twinkling and appealing to the eye for the fey gentry. they're introduced in act 2 as the player's first real introduction to the fey besides hints and hearsay - proof in the flesh! they're well-intentioned (it's in their nature) and with sufficient relationship stats will assist the player a ton. they’re still very... alien, though, in the way that fey are. you can help them learn non-reliant personhood!

(there are other nonbinary characters who aren’t lavender fairies (and the two in the main party will be posted in the next two days), but i think it’d be silly for a society/world built more on whim & emotion than fact and substance to have concrete delineated genders)

peter finch! (might be changed to peter tanager - still deciding) he’s one of a rare few born with healing magic, so in a world where magic is largely gained through pacts, he’s kind of a celebrity. he's from out of town, so he’s not aligned with any major factions besides “my visa was sponsored by the entente, so i should probably not be on their bad side.” mostly, he's a young man trying to balance his love for his abilities with the pressure they bring. he is trans, gay, and the only man in the party!

day 7 of telemarina OCtober! rosé valentine. smalltime bodice-ripper author by day, lady thief by night. she's bitter about the current order of the magical community because it basically ruined her life. she's susceptible to fey otherworlds. she is romanceable!

day 6 of telemarina OCtober! cora edelstein. an innate psychic, born with the power to hear the voices of spirits, ghosts, powerful thoughts. unfortunately this is more of a curse than a blessing since it can't really be turned off. she is a romanceable mentally ill cassandra-archetype.

day 4 of telemarina OCtober! iris sterling. she's pacted as the official messenger/diplomat/neutral party of the entente (the organizational congress of the magical community). her pact gives her useful utility powers - she can understand all languages, she’s immune to damage from any entente members, she has a supernatural sense of direction, she can tell when people are lying to her, she has some limited healing powers, and more) and she’s paid extremely well, but unfortunately the binding clauses of the pact keep her extremely isolated from basically everyone else to keep her as a neutral party, and it’s a job that entails a lot of emotional labor. pacts must give and take.

the player character has magic independent of any pact or coven, however (for plot reasons), so iris can hang out with her when she isn’t being kept busy with her job... iris is also a source of quests a lot of the time. she is romanceable!

autumnville (i’ve been trying to think of a better town/city name for this setting since may but no luck yet) is like... the spinoff game following telemarina. telemarina is urban fantasy, grand universe plot, multiple party members interacting with the player-protag (although i’m thinking that there are about five different last names that you can choose between during character creation that give you different personality traits/specialties/backstory tidbits so different dialogue options appear / different characters are more likely to get along with you. little details that nudge your experience around)

the big city in autumnville’s metropolitan area doesn’t have the intense magical wellspring that telemarina does so the magic culture around it has been less fraught; there’s just one big coven and it’s fairly closely tied to the general local government. it’s way less exciting than the telemarina covens, less exciting discoveries, etc etc.

autumnville has two stories so, both focusing on magic-adept/non-magic duos navigating the horrible hanging space of young adulthood; when your early 20s are aimless and unfulfilling. also lesbianism and getting in over your head. it’s suburban horror, finding buried and concealed rot in your communities. as opposed to a dragon-age-y party following your player character around, autumnville has you switching between a warrior and a mage to investigate and explore. during combat you can switch between them at your will, but during more narrative-focused sections there’s a set one you’re piloting and having conversations with npcs via.

i think toni & imogen’s story and lav & ari’s story are concurrent but don’t interact or depend on each other; you can see glimpses into the other story and see effects, but nothing really spoilery. there’s also a couple opportunities to talk to the other plotline’s characters, but it’s mostly just to establish shared themes and a shared world rather than big plot stuff. you can play only one plotline and get a pretty decent story out of it.

the companion characters in my oc universe, telemarina! it's written to be an rpg video game, so there's multiple endings etc. it’s an urban fantasy with some political conflict and dimensional solstices.

the first seven girls here are 1. all lesbians 2. all romanceable by the player character. the other four people are 1. not cis 2. your good friends!

cool thing about having ocs that are all lesbians is that they can also crush on each other. dykery abounds

rosé starts off with a sort of resentment of cora & the other listeners because these are people whose lives are supported by the entente (which destroyed her life) - but as she grows close to cora & learns more about the listeners' situation, solidarity & compassion grow. also she and cora have a shared cynical sense of humor and skepticism for things to go right for themselves, but hidden hearts that want to hope and have peace and security despite their mental illnesses

meanwhile cora is just like damn a pretty girl is being nice to me. i love tits
